Linguini Fini has got a new home in Soho on Elgin Street right by the escalator! I like the decor here better than its old shop in the L Place as it is more bright and chic while airy with the open walls. It's even got a little garden area in the back where they recycle any leftover food for use in planting herbs and tomatoes which looks a great space for a private party IMO. Helmed by Chef Vinny Lauria, the food here is casual New York Italian with a focus on farm to table and nose to tail dining - I'm told that everything is homemade and they like to use local produce whenever possible. I've been to Linguini Fini before and found the prices to be quite reasonable so I was looking forward to trying some of their new dishes along with classics as well. We got here just in time for its Happy Hour special - free flow Pabst Blue Ribbon beer and chicken wings for $98 only! Available Monday to Friday from 5-7pm. I would have liked the wings to be juicier as they are a bit on the dry side but it's a great deal for the price. For those who don't like beer (me!), they also have a wide selection of cocktails and I was recommended the Whiskey Smash ($68) with whiskey, citrus and mint on the rocks. I'm not a big fan of whiskey in the first place but this drink went down surprisingly well as it wasn't strong in whiskey at all with a well-balanced acidic flavor. The Bronx ($308) - New York Style 18" pizza with fresh mozzarella, porchetta, pepperoni and meatballs. The pizzas here are only available in one size so it's perfect for sharing with friends! Though it's not cooked in a special pizza oven (brick/wood-fired), the pizza here was still solid with a crispy crust and delicious toppings. This one is for the meat lovers out there though next time I would want to try the classic Magherita. Fragrant Grass Infused Linguini Fini ($118) - one of the classic pastas here with a new twist. I was told that this used to be served with sheep's milk cheese sauce so it can be quite pungent along with the grass infused pasta so the new and improved version uses Parmesan cheese instead. I've never tried the old version but I didn't find this repelling at all - in fact it tasted quite normal and a tad dry actually. Italian "Xiao Lung Bao" ($168) - pork filled agnolotti, tomato sauce, chili oil and 30 year balsamico. It was an interesting take on the classic xiao lung bao with an Italian twist and I would have loved more balsamic! Keep pouring! Radiatore Alla Vodka ($148) - spicy 'nduja laced cream sauce, fresh mozzarella and basil. Obviously this reminds me of the the Spicy Rigatoni Vodka at Carbone but they actually taste quite different as the one at Carbone is more creamy and subtle while the one here has a heavier emphasis on the spiciness. If you like really spicy pasta, then this one is for you. Baked Macheroni Carbonara ($188) - with sea urchin, homemade lardo, egg yolk and breadcrumbs. Hands down my favorite pasta dish of the night! Too often, I've seen restaurants try and fail to integrate the delicate flavors of uni into cooked dishes but I think this is the first time I've seen it work. The fresh and deliciously sweet uni was mixed with the rest of the pasta which ended up lending a creamy texture that typically would have been provided by eggs, so the flavors and textures were light and yet delicate. Dry Rubbed Hanger Steak ($168) - with caramelized onion aioli. This was my favorite dish of the night as the hanger steak was tender yet juicy with an excellent quality for the price! I'd prefer this over the one at The Continental which costs more and doesn't taste as great. Grilled 1/2 Chicken ($158) - with chili, lardo and honey glaze. The mains just continue to shine as I love the honey glaze on the chicken which was moist and succulent. Chocolate Banana Cake ($78) - killer combo with chocolate and banana. No words needed. Just EAT. Caramel Apple Pie ($78) - I love the chunky pieces of apple used in the pie but would have liked it if the pie crust was thinner and softer. Verdict - a great place for casual New York Italian dishes with an excellent price to value ratio.

The pastas are pretty good, but just be aware you may not see the ingredients listed in the description in your dish because they are "infused" pastas. This threw me off a few times and was skeptical when told those ingredients were "in the pasta" (think Zoolander looking for the files "in the computer"!). Despite my initial dismay from what I expected, the food is good. I've been a handful of times and sampled everything from the lunch set with antipasto buffet, pastas, and pizzas (old Posto Pubblico pizzeria) which are the closest to a proper NYC slice. The service is sometimes slow, but attitudes are good and the new location is great for people watching as they pass up and down the escalator.

Mozzarella Sticks

I hadn't ventured to Linguine Fini since it moved from the L Place. I adore it's new location and it still has that chilled out ambiance inside that lets you totally unwind and sort of forget that you live in a city of skyscrapers. We were in the mood for comfort food so a plate of pasta seemed like the most sensible choice. LF totally hit the spot. We ordered mozzarella sticks for starters - you can never beat warm cheese, although the salsa was a little bland in my opinion. I followed up the starter with the LF Special of Aglio Olio and homemade sausage. It's one of my favourite ways to eat pasta. Simple. Tasty. Garlic. Delicious. The homemade sausage gave it that extra kick to make it really special. The noodles were cooked to perfection, not too soft and with a little crunch still in them. The staff were also splendid. Super helpful, funny and in a good mood.

Char Sui Carbonara
Jessica C.

Char Sui Carbonara @linguinifinihk HK$159 (£15.90) - this chinese italian fusion was a bit disappointing. Only a few cubes of salty chewy char sui on top, which didn't really reflect what good char sui could be like. BUT the perfectly cooked al dente pasta with creamy carbonara sauce (properly made with egg yolk and parmesan) was to die for. I can keep on eating this until I explode. The price was definitely on the steep side as there are so many great places that can feed two people comfortably at that price if you are traveling on a shoestring. Yet, if you don't mind splurging and maybe want something other than chinese food then try this place out. I would recommend their lasagne instead though as this was meaty and filling!

Brooklyn Special.

To start off, I love Italian food. So it was no surprise to me that I really want to try this place since 1) it's Italian and 2) my friend raves about this place. I wasn't aware, but I used to see Linguini Fini's logo all the time when I used to go get massages or facials in L Place. They have since moved to Elgin Street in Soho, what I'd say is a super prime spot since it's right on Elgin and by the escalator. Perfect for people to spot the restaurant for those that live in Mid-Levels and use the escalator to walk back up. Finally, I got to try it yesterday with my friend from Northwestern. We were excited to try this restaurant because it was both of our first times. She ordered the truffle fungi pasta and I got the Brooklyn Special pizza (since I heard they're known for their pizza). As an FYI, they write on the menu as well as warn you that their pizza takes 30 mins and it's large. (Though I feel like it took less than 30 mins on the day that I was there.) Large, it is. Gigantic, it is. I like that it's thin crust, just like the New York style pizzas. However, to me, this pizza was just okay. It more of less lacked taste to me. It tasted better when I added red peppers on the table to add some spicy kick to it. For $278 (and then ~300+ after tip), that makes it at $40USD for the pizza that was just "OK" to me. I have a feeling other pizzas are probably the same, not bad, but lacks a bit of taste. Ambiance? Large space, the restaurant is huge, especially for a restaurant in Soho, Hong Kong! Verdict: I'm glad I ordered the pizza and got to try it so now I know, but I definitely do think it's not worth the high price tag of $278. I'd be willing to come back and try their pasta. Maybe their pasta, to me, would be better than their pizza?

What a fantastic lunch!! Order a pasta, pizza or main and get the buffet for free which inc various salads, fish done with olives and capers, penne aribatta, thin sliced prosciutto and fresh sliced fruit. Everything is priced well and the food is sooo fresh. Please come and open one in Perth!! Well worth a visit!!

Superb meatballs, very good spaghetti, and tasty, enormous pizzas! The portions are very generous, the ambience is warm and inviting, and the service is quite good. We really enjoyed our dinner here, and highly recommend it. Also - Linguini Fini is extremely dog friendly which we love!

Deep Fried Cheese Gold Bars

We've visited this Linguini Fini several times, which I guess is enough said however a few times the service has been a tad slow. They're definitely polite and friendly but just need a bit more focus and organisation. However that's a minor point on a lovely Wednesday evening. For a quick bite we ate the Deep Fried Cheese Gold Bars which we enjoyed although the salsa was on the bland side (as others have mentioned). Pepperoni pizza was ok but nothing to shout about. Fortunately they provide additional peppers and Tabasco which helped get the party started. We've tried other dishes in the past which were better, however no complaints tonight and due to the super convenient location we'll go back before long.

I accidentally stumbled upon this place and I'm glad I did! I had such a good dinner that I had to come back for lunch on my last day in Hong Kong. They are all about freshness and high quality foods here. Everything on the menu is mouth watering. The freshly made pastas are my favorite. I highly recommend the Papardelle Bolognese and Grilled Chicken dish but if you pick something else, you wouldn't go wrong either. Not to mention, the ambience and drink menu is full of life too. The hours on Yelp is wrong. They open at 11:30-3 and open again from 5-10:30

First off it was kind of hiding inside a commercial building. It required an uphill climb before reaching there. If you are planning to take your elderly friends or parents, I strongly encouraged taking a taxi there. We were greeted by a friendly hostess as soon as we stepped out of the elevator. The whole place was elegant and tasteful arts were hanging on the walls throughout the whole dinning room. It was lavishly decorated. The staffs were attentive and friendly. However I found it funny that the majority of the staffs only spoke English. It was kind of ironic that we had to speak English in a Cantonese speaking island. Of course we had to order Caesar Salad and Spicy Rigatoni because they are the two popular dishes at Carbon. Caesar salad was made in front of you and the waiter told us he flown to their NYC location to master the skill of making this salad. I was ensured everything was as good as their NYC location. The salad was fresh and crunchy; it was a combination of Baby Romaine lettuce, garlicky croutons and shaved cheese tossed in a rich tangy creamy dressing. Every bite was covered with a right amount of freshly made flavorful dressing. The mouth watering Spicy Rigatoni was so irresistible. The creamy spicy tomato sauce blended beautifully with the pasta. It was so delicious and addictive. I would not leave Carbon without eating its Spicy Rigatoni. We also tried the Veal Parmesan but it was kind of a disappointment because the meat was too dry and tough. The saving grace was that it was still full of flavor. We did have a good dinning experience there. I think it is a good restaurant for a romantic dinner or special occasions. It was as pricy as their NYC location but the food wasn't as good though. I just couldn't resist to compare both places. So for all the Carbon fans, it would be nice to visit this location because you might have a different opinion about it.

Food: 4.25 stars Service/atmosphere: 4.5 stars Value: 3 stars Overall: 4 stars Recommendations: bananas a la rum, rib eye Diana, baked clams, vodka sauce rigatoni On my latest visit to Carbone, I came for the set lunch. It's enough for two people but if you are really hungry you may want to order another appetizer. The set comes with your choice of a starter or pasta, a main, and a choice for dessert. We opted for the rigatoni with vodka sauce, the ribeye and bananas a la rum. 1) Rigatoni with vodka sauce- coming to a American Italian restaurant and not ordering this seemed like a shame. Good thing is that the dish is down well. The vodka sauce is nice and creamy and the pasta is cooked well and had a little bite to it. 2) Rib eye Diane - The rib eye is cooked and served in a really luscious mushroom sauce. The sauce really makes the dish. The steak itself was slightly a bit tough and had a few cuts with too much fat. However, I did really enjoy this dish. 3) Bananas a la rum- my favorite thing I had. Bananas are flambéd in a rum sauce and then poured over three scoops of ice cream and cake. Vanilla cookies are crumbled over the dessert to provide some texture and crunch for the dessert. This is really delicious and is a must order.

So calming with beautiful hints of turquoise, well-suited after a long day of work. Not too dark or dim, and no loud music to talk over. My best friend and I came for dinner on a Thursday night, so the restaurant was not very full at all. The two of us were originally seated at a table for four and considered switching to a smaller table for two in the middle of the room, but thankfully did not, as the supplementary table proved useful when it came to sharing dishes. We ordered the following: 1. Grigliata di polpo con spinaci in balsamico e olio di olive --- Grilled octopus with spinach and citrus slices, in balsamic vinegar & olive oil (HKD158) 2. Spigola alle erbe al forno --- Oven-baked salt-crusted sea bass (HKD458) And of course... 3. Lombo di agnello in crosta al forno --- Roasted lamb chops (HKD418) The polpo (octopus) was polpo-licious! Hands down, one of the best octopus dishes I've ever tried (one of my other favorites is the Octopus Provencal at The Smoking Goat in San Diego). It was grilled to perfection, still tender (not rubbery) and well-seasoned. The salad was light, refreshing, and provided a nice entrance to our main courses. The sea bass came out first on a cart, and a waitstaff began to take off the baked salt layer. She was also about to serve the fish - aka remove the meat for us - but we politely asked if we could do it ourselves. For the lamb, we divided it between the two of us, vegetables and all. The lamb was still as good as I remembered having it the first time. Upon request, they brought us additional sauce for the lamb. The sea bass was baked with thyme and rosemary stuffed inside - it smelled wonderful without overwhelming the taste. Excellent preparation by the kitchen! I am easily overwhelmed by a lot of choices. So when I saw the dessert menu, it took me almost 15 minutes to make up my mind. Was I feeling tiramisu? I did see someone order it the last time I was at Gradini and 90% of it was cream... The apple pie with vanilla gelato, tempting... Earl Grey Panna Cotta (HKD80), how intriguing! While I haven't had my fair share of good panna cotta, I do love anything Earl Grey. I have found, however, that Earl Grey-flavored items can be a hit or a miss, nothing in between. Was I willing to take a risk? In the end, yes, and it was worth it. The presentation was nothing too impressive, BUT the taste was heart-melting. Absolutely addicting - my friend could not stop scraping the bottom of the bowl, "It's so good, Celine! Can't stop, won't stop!" she said, "Aren't you glad you picked the Earl Grey Panna Cotta?" Yes, very glad. While you can definitely count on the quality of the food, I found the waitstaff not entirely up-to-par. When it came to asking about wines, they weren't too knowledgeable about the pairings, or what would best suit our selected dishes. The service was there, but the knowledge was a bit lacking (would consider knocking off a star...), though not a big hindrance to the overall dining experience.

Wow! Super surprised there is a yelp entry for this restaurant!…read more This place I feel is not in the most ideal area. Personally, I don't like coming to LKF to have dinner or lunch or whatever. Still, I can't fault them too much for the location, and many people have actually done the same since there are a number of good restaurants in LKF area. This place is primarily a steak place, though they have a few other things to choose from as well. I believe lunch times they offer a AYCE sort of option, where you get a main and then the salad bar is buffet. I've been to it before and it's pretty good. I've heard however since COVID they have changed it somewhat. The other night I came and got the seafood guazzetto, which is about $300 HKD, and has a bunch of different things such as fish, octopus, clams, etc. Lots of seafood essentially. Other things I tried included the sides of brussel sprouts, mushrooms, bruschetta, some of my brother's sirloin steak, some of the fish of the day (halibut?). Overall, the food is quite nice. I will say, they tend to use a bit too much butter/oil here. I know this is kind of true whenever you eat out, but here it is definitely noticeable. I would recommend them to tone it down just a little bit, since there are always ways to spice up your dish without going overboard on the fats

I came here for dinner three nights ago, and I'm still full from it!…read more The five of us shared bruschetta (it comes with four but they added one more for us), the cured meats (a great curated selection), and the meatballs for appetizer. They also brought out some veggies and dip before we ordered (which I had never seen done before) along with bread. The highlight of the night was the steaks of course. We shared the florentina (aka the porterhouse. A 32oz wagyu beast) and a filet. The meats came on a cutting board already cut, so the sharing was easy. They were perfectly seasoned, tender, and flavorful. We had roasted veggies and creamed spinach as sides. The latter was addictive! Chef Todd was around to explain their meat selection when I walked around to check them out in the case. We didn't get to send our regards to him, as we stayed late and were the last to leave. Todd, if you're reading this, hail to the chef! We went without a reservation and were seated right away. It was a Thursday night, but we had gotten there around 9 which might explain the vacancy. It's a great option for groups and celebratory dinners :)

Service was attentive without it being overbearing--helpful with the dish selection as well. We thought the dishes were great from start to finish. The burrata was creamy, complimented by the tart and sweet grilled peach while being cut by the savory cured meats. I ordered the lamb medium-rare and really enjoyed how it was prepared, and the pasta dishes similarly turned out delicious. We felt like the presentation of the dishes were very thoughtful on top of its great taste. Both desserts were a necessary closing of the meal--the creaminess of the tiramisu and panna cotta was not overbearing and helped highlight the respective flavors of coffee and fruit in these desserts!

I am also big on dessert so the new tiramisu recipe was particularly noteworthy, standing out from others that I've tried. Kudos to Boris and Elle for their attentive service; they frequently checked in on us and ensured our comfort. Overall, my visit to Pirata was a delightful experience that I look forward to repeating. Thank you Pirata Group.
