Motorino is hands down my favorite pizza restaurant…read more I've been to multiple locations of Motorino, both in HK and NYC, and it's always consistent. A little expensive for pizza, but since I do not eat it often, I think it's well worth it. The brussel sprout pizza is my favorite, and unique (I've never seen it at another pizza place). I'm also into any pizza with prosciutto now it. Make sure to save room for dessert - the cheesecake is fantastic.

Motorino of Blacksheep Restaurants has been our go-to for pizzas close to home in Hong Kong…read more Serving Neapolitan style pizzas, these have pleased our NY tastebuds or cravings for pizzas here. Having been there multiple times, I was a bit surprised when on this recent visit is when they handed us a stamped loyalty card. I asked our sweet server if this was something new and she said no. I asked her why they didn't inform us of that on our previous visits and she, of course, didn't have an answer, but politely mentioned she's seen us before and that's why she gave it to us. The pizzas are good. They've added cocktails recently here, I reckon. Their menu keeps changing. The one time we had antipasti there - smoked eggplant, my jaw was on the floor with the price to portion size proportion, more because the taste disappointed as well. But the good news is that their pizzas don't disappoint. As with other Blacksheep Restaurants, they have the friendliest of staff. Pictures on the blog - thevegetarianvoyager

Chubby's is by no means a fancy place, but it is a great place for cheap eats, and despite its…read morename, it also offers excellent fried chicken. The pizza on the other hand is nothing special- you might as well just get a frozen pizza from a grocery store and bake it in an oven because you'll get very similar results. So, continuing from the pizza, I've tried their thick and thin crust pizzas, both aren't very good. The thick crust pizzas are very doughy and absurdly thick, but if you're trying to fill yourself up, I suppose it to a certain extent does the job. Thin crust pizzas also aren't great, while they do have a reasonably good sauce to crust ratio, the crust is literally crunchy, with a texture that resembles the breadsticks that you might nibble on before your pizza arrives in a fancier pizza place. The fried chicken on the other hand was to my surprise, really good. The skin was crunchy, the meat itself was tender and juicy and it was really well seasoned overall... I ended up eating 3 pieces. Considering how their chicken is this good, I'm surprised they still insist on branding themselves as a pizza place with a chicken on their logo, Chubby's Chicken would've had a wonderful alliterative ring to it, and it'd also represent what's special about this place more accurately.

Yes this is a pizza place but what I want to review on is actually its fried chicken. Before I…read moreheard about this place, if I wanted to have delicious fried chicken, I would opt for the Kentucky one. However, in case you did not notice, that place has been secretly increasing the price over the years and I for one cannot deal with the fact that I need to spend almost forty dollars on two drumsticks. Like seriously. The meal should have cost less than HKD$30 in my opinion. So where do I get my fix on fried chicken now? I stumbled upon one when I was in Kwai Fong the other day. As I was struggling to find my own bus stop back home, I saw this located on the ground floor that people could easily miss this as it is rather hidden. As I spent a long time trying to navigate through this never-ending Kwai Fong plaza, I was starving and decided to come here and sit for a while. Little did I know they serve FRIED CHICKEN! I had a look at the menu and realized for four pieces of chicken, that only cost around HKD$40! Kentucky, in your face! After maybe 15 minutes, I got my order and I could tell those chickens were definitely not pre-cooked. They were crispy, moist and juicy. Next week when I go back to Kwai Fong, you may just see them there devouring chickens. Don't be shy. Come sit with me.

The Romana-style pizzas (with the stretched, thinner crust) deliver a perfect crunch with every bite. The ingredients taste fresh, from the rich tomato passata base to the creamy mozzarella. If you go, do not skip the iconic Dough Balls with garlic butter to start; they are a classic for a reason. The Service The service is efficient, welcoming, and attentive without being intrusive. Even during the busy weekend rush, the staff manages to seat guests quickly and keep the pacing of the meal seamless. Drinks arrive promptly, and the wait times for the pizzas are impressively short, especially considering they are baked fresh to order. The Ambience The atmosphere strikes a great balance between casual and vibrant. It features a clean, contemporary design with open kitchens, so you can actually watch the pizzaiolos tossing dough. It has an energetic buzz that makes it versatile enough for a relaxed date night, a catch-up with friends, or a hassle-free family dinner.

The Lava pizza is a great vegetarian option: fresh burrata mozzarella, basil, kalamata olives, cherry tomatoes, and tomato sauce. Can't remember what type of sausage it had but me likey. Surprisingly, service was quite attentive during lunch; our server was quick to fill our waters whenever we were low and always checked up on us to see if we needed anything else. Though this is a chain, fresh ingredients and the right amount of seasoning make all the difference. I will for sure return many times. :)

My bf & I did the tasting menu together (290 HKD/person = around $36 per person) and that included 2 appetizers, 3 pastas, 2 desserts. Tuna tartare- 4/5, fresh Octopus salad- 3/5, it was decent but nothing extraordinary Ragu- 4/5, good but the pappardelle was a little too al dente for me and normally I'm all about al dente pasta. Truffle- 5/5 if you love truffle, GET THIS! Ravioli- 4/5, if you love ravioli and ricotta, you would love this. I'm not big on extra strong cheese taste so this was a little too much for me. Tiramisu and panna cotta- yummm! Great way to end the meal. Ordering both was great because when the tiramisu got too chocolatey, I'd grab some of the panna cotta which had the tart taste from the raspberry. Good balance :) For a chain pasta restaurant, I came in with low expectations because in America, they would usually taste really bad and cost a lot... but this definitely exceeded my expectations in terms of taste and value.
