Told us we were no.36 while the next number to be called was no.15, and told us we need to wait outside. She couldn't tell us how long the wait would be. Although the message was informative, the tone of it was rude and unwelcoming. We saw there were only a few others waiting so we decided to wait. Soon enough we were seated before 9pm, probably most of no.15 thru 35 were turned away by the receptionist. Then the hostess seated us without any greetings. We ordered the Ravioli, Chicken Parmesan, and creamy baked potato chips. To our surprise the ravioli were served before we got our bread. Didn't mind the surprise at all coz it was quite delicious. The creamy tomato sauce was just right and very tasty. Then we got the baked potato chips, and our water soon after. Had to ask our server for bread again and got an impatience response. Then finally got our bread and Chicken Parmesan. The Chicken Parmesan was great! Portions were big but the two of us managed to chuck it all. The restaurant was very busy. We had to wait for a while for water refill and to get the bill. Overall, great food but poor service! Turned off by bad attitude receptionist and hostess, servers were just too busy to take care of too many tables.

Then came three more antipasti to share: Free Range Poached Eggs, Fried Calamari, and Meatballs. For main course, we picked the Squid Ink Pasta with Prawns and the Guazetto with Seared Cod, Prawns, and Clams. My favorites were the two main courses. Dessert was their famous Tiramisu which was marvelous. There were also melon slices and gelato. Drinks were included and bottomless and included alcoholic and non-alcoholic options at different prices. It was definitely a very enjoyable and relaxing lunch experience!

I think if you opt for the shared brunch menu, it's going to be $780 HKD pp. The first thing that comes out however are the breadsticks, which I believe are a specialty of this place. They are indeed pretty good, and I think it's unlimited? You also get olive oil served with it. Anyway I don't really feel the need to say much more. All the main courses were fine, and you can look at some of the photos I took. The one thing I will comment on however was the tiramisu, which had a heavy alcohol flavor, which I thought made it taste great. I wish everyone made tiramisu like this. I would probably come back for the dessert, but not necessarily for anything else since this restaurant is really steep.

It was later in the night after all with so many other spots closed, this was one of the only options available online. There comes a time when living in HK as a westerner that you just settle for mediocre versions of stuff you'd get back home and thin crust pizza was on the mind. At only a half an hour later, my door bell rang and I was presented with a pizza that was both aromatic and surprisingly presentable. Kudos to the pizza box design, which preserved everything quite well. What came out was a delightful, airy crust with a semi-generous coat of spinach, a trio of parmesan, mozzarella, and riccota cheeses, and sprinkling of black truffle paste. This was the Florentina ($138). It was almost too easy to eat. I could have easily devoured the entire thing, but other members of the dining party took issue. Everyone longed for more after one slice, which was so small that it was practically sample sized. I had thought about ordering again, but we had other dishes we needed to work on first. The spaghetti pomodoro ($88) was light as it was tasty and perfectly al dente. Both the risottos (black truffles and four cheeses) were sinfully tasty and were decently priced at $77 and $88HKD. Everyone was quite pleased. The next time around, I came in as a diner. Modern Italian establishments never cease to amaze me with their contemporary decor, along with how spacious the place is. My group and I feasted on several pizzas, namely multiple orders of the Florentina, Quattro Formaggi ($128), and Maialetto ($138) which has rosemary and suckling pig as toppings. It was all glorious. If there was a semi-sore spot, it was the service. I realize that it only comes with certain price points but it's not like Assaggio is a rundown place. Most of the servers seemed a bit lethargic, if not almost apathetic to our table. Waters were not automatically refilled and often times when there were too many plates on the table, we'd have to flag them down to have them taken away. When you're the only party in the house, there should be proper attention to servicing the table. I could envision smartphones being banned from certain establishments one day.

The meal included complimentary chibatta bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar... and a fresh green salad... yum! I ate everything, even though the pasta was a bit peppery. That's a great price, and I figure if even the food is awful, it's still not much more than two drinks. As others said, this place is somewhat a hidden gem. Its entrance is a narrow commercial building entrance on Nathan Road, right by Hillwood Road, closer to Jordan than TST. Located on the second floor, the big windows look out to verdant shades, totally blocking out the hustle and bustle outside. The price of afternoon tea has increased, but at HKD128, still a fair price if no longer a steal. We ordered flavored fresh-squeezed lemonades (or you can choose tea, coffee or soda), and our food arrived on a wooden board: two hamburger sliders, two salmon croissants, bacon wrapped asparagus, mac & cheese, BBQ fries and brownies. All is quite tasty except for the mac & cheese, which I find really bland. Applegreen bills itself as offering Californian cuisine. Their menu has lots of salad, and pasta ranging from carbonara to tequila lime chicken to mentaiko. There are also carne asado quesadilla, Jamaican chicken wings, jambalaya flatbread and more, just to show how international the menu is.

For Hong Kong, this restaurant is quite spacious. I've always been able to grab a seat every time I came in the afternoon. I've tried many different dishes here and usually it doesn't disappoint! What I like the most about Applegreen is that they're not just a salad house. They have a pretty wide array of dishes and drinks on the menu. But of course, if you want to eat "healthier", they have plenty of salads to choose from. Most of their salad has "half" servings, which is actually misleading. Their half portion is enough for 2-3 people if you order it with a second or third dish. Their "full" serving of the salad is humongous. Probably more suited for 3-5 people. Just be warned! Also as a tip, if you order salad you can request FREE banana bread to go with it. For their other dishes, they have your typical pastas, but what I like is their Flatbreads. Think of it as a very thin crust pizza. Quite tasty and large in portion. They also have some more unique items from their varying breakfast menu, such as honey glazed bacon, eggs benedict, or other experimental items. As for their drinks, most of their tea-juices have unlimited refill! Surprisingly an uncommon thing in Hong Kong. Applegreen is moderately priced. But for the portion and quality, its a pretty good deal. Its also conveniently located by the Jordan MTR station.
