Clarification: this is for the first class lounge. Good food and service though getting in required some back and forth. As you would expect from a 1st class lounge, the facilities are excellent. Food and drinks are on point and the staff are friendly and helpful. Dining area is bustling but there are quiet sitting areas away from the chaos. Issues getting in stemmed from the original invitations issued at the start of a journey. A technicality in the end but we me got in so I won't even go into detail. Massages were booked up and we were kindly informed that Diamond members can book ahead. Another noticeable miss was ordering whiskey neat and getting it served with ice. No real choice to be made honestly. If you have access you'll be here. Only thing that matters for decision making is that it serves its purpose as an oasis during your travels.
I rarely fly Cathay, and usually it's in Economy. However I had the opportunity to fly from HK to Korea in business class, which afforded me with entry to the Pier Lounge. First impressions: swanky, well-attended, and a tad busy with a hustle and bustle representative of HK itself. There are multiple places to sit - the most crowded places are up near the entrance, while the least crowded is by the Tea Bar area and the showers. I got to spend a good 1.5 hours, where I got to sample some of the Western and Chinese foods, have a few adult beverages, eat some snacks in the Tea Bar area, and take a shower! Everyone was very friendly and the staff made sure to clear dishes quickly. There are a lot of shower stalls, so I didn't have to wait! Shower was a bit small but did the job. Hope to be back here one day, if I ever get to fly Cathay up in front!
This review is for the business lounge side of The Pier. I may have expected a bit too much for a supposedly top tier lounge experience, but I liked it overall. I gained access to the lounge as I was flying Business Class from HKG to YVR on Cathay Pacific. There are different sections of the lounge, each dedicated to something. There's a section for alcoholic drinks, one for western food (seems to be mainly Italian food), one for Chinese food (and drinks), and a quiet area with shower stalls. I mostly hung out in the Chinese food section, though took a look at the Western food as well. They had siu mai, custard buns, and a noodle bar there as well. I somewhat regret having breakfast beforehand as I wasn't able to sample as much food here. Siu mai and custard buns were definitely good for lounge quality. Was I expecting a bit more though? Admittedly yes given the hype of this lounge. At least I now know to keep my lounge expectations in check. The western food section had a cheese platter that I also tried. It was also good for lounge quality. Before I left the lounge, my aunt texted me to try their milk tea there, so I did. That was good! Strong tea flavour and enough milk to balance it off. I'll definitely visit here again for my HK travels, though maybe I'll sneak by The Wing as well to see what that's about.
This is one of my favorite airport lounges in the world. The lounge is near Gate 65 and you take an escalator down to the lounge. There are sections for Western food, Asian food, cocktails, and tea/desserts. They also have shower rooms and relaxation room in the back. There was plenty of seating so you don't feel congested. I especially love their dan dan noodles, steamed barbecue pork buns, and their HK style milk tea. The staff at the lounge were really welcoming and friendly.
Best lounge ever--due to a flight delay, I had some extra hours to fully enjoy this place. From the food options to the bathroom and shower amenities, this is a very impressive airport lounge. It is very large with plenty of seating and it is obvious how well thought-out this place is. Service is excellent and all amenities are kept super clean. It is definitely a relaxing place to spend some time before your flight. Highly recommend stopping by if you have opportunity to do so!
The Pier is a stunning lounge with excellent made-to-order food options and a sleeping area. The staff here are friendly keep everything clean and well maintained while making sure the hot dishes are served quickly. There are plenty of food options to choose from across the noodle bar, the regular bar, the tea room, and the pizza/pasta lounge and everyone (including kids) will likely find something that they can enjoy. On the day I was here, the Dan Dan Mien and the lemon ricotta cake were my favorites and I had to go back for seconds. There is also a shower area (they give you a buzzer in case you have to wait) and a relaxation lounge (if you want to catch up on sleep) and a business area (to catch up on emails). I also appreciated that the shower reception provided a dental + shaving kit so I didn't have to dig mine out of my own bag. If there is any drawback, it's only that this lounge can be a very long walk (about 20-25 mins walking from the security checkpoint) at Gate 65. There is another lounge called "wing" that is right after security at Gate 2 but I highly recommend making the trek down to the pier for their superior food options and service - it is truly something that all other airlines can look up to as the gold standard.
This lounge is well beyond first-class! In the middle of a multi-stop, cross-global trip (in economy), I arrived in Hong Kong with a lounge pass burning a hole in my pocket. I needed to eat, relax, and maybe more. Luckily, I found The Pier right below my departure gate. My rookie mistake was going to eat before booking my massage as I ended up not being able to squeeze one in ahead of boarding lol That being said, the dining experience was five-star from the service to the food. The shower was clean and very refreshing. I appreciated not having to dig out my toothpaste, brush, hair gel, or deodorant as they were all provided. I finished everything in time to check emails and samples some wonderful macaroons. Again, I cannot emphasize how above first-class this lounge was in every regard.
Been fortunate to have visited The Pier several times and it remains as one of my favorite airport lounges!! They have several sections, dining area, sleep area, and shower. The dining section then further separates into 1) a Western area with salads, charcuterie, pasta/pizzas, 2) wine/bar, 3) Chinese area with noodle/dim sum options, and 4) tea and snacks area. The wonton noodles are solid with a wide range of sauce/topping options. Their BBQ pork and pork belly are tasty and well-seasoned. Occasionally it can be dry but overall the flavors are authentic. For snacks, I like their butter cookies the most, especially the pistachio ones, and they can be found in the coffee area or wine area. As a tea girlie, I love how they have lots of loose leaf tea options and unlimited refills. The jasmine and earl grey are my favs! Lots of seating available with different table/size options, but it can get pretty busy. Wifi is consistently reliable and facilities are kept clean! People are always really friendly!
This is what all big-box airline lounges should aspire to. I have the privilege of frequent world-wide travel and have experienced multiple lounges in many locations. I find that those from large, flagship airlines tend to fit in either a category that is boring and sterile (a space behind a front desk to make you think you are elite with some nibbles that would not be offensively ethnic and some basic adult and NA beverages) or gimmicky (a space that promotes things that make you look twice but are not very functional like a hammock, a play station video room, or some poor staff member struggling to make pretzels in real time when you can tell they would rather be anywhere else in the moment). There are only a handful around the globe that I have been in that make you feel like this is really a special space designed around what you really need and want as a traveler. This is one of them. Entry is welcoming in an understated, humble way. Once in, unless you walk the entire space, you will not realize that it is smartly divided into many different areas, each with its own vibe. You have a few quiet areas with comfortable plane spotting windows for work. There are 2 areas convenient for dining, one at a more Western appropriated type of cuisine and 1 with more HK regional cuisine. Both with made to order options (but no table service). There are separate bar areas, a separate coffee cart, and areas for bathrooms and showers are discreetly away from all of that. The wifi was fast, the food and beverage offerings were not only unique but also seemingly more luxurious than most, and it was very easy for me to find a space to call my own that would support me doing exactly what I wanted to do in the moment whether that was a need for quiet work, a social gathering with others, a solitary drink at the bar, or a stand up quickie coffee before running to my connection. I'm not sure I have been in a lounge before that so expertly provided me with all of these types of useful zones, seemingly well-isolated from the others. The reason I could tell that Cathay Pacific hit this one out of the park was because my 90 min spent there flew by and found me wishing that my flight was delayed so I could actually hang out here longer just to enjoy the other areas of it. That is a rare sentiment for me when I am jet-lagged and in the middle of a long-haul trip. I am not even a CP loyalist since they are not part of the Sky Team alliance. But after this impression, I wish I was.
Cathay has several amazing lounges at hkg. Due my status match I was able to get one world emerald status which allowed access to Cathay's first class lounges, which have been lauded as some of the best in the world. There are 2 first class lounges- the wing and the pier. Both have their unique features. The pier has a separate dining room with elevated dining (aka they have both ala carte and a tasting menu!) and extensive wine and cocktail list. Facilities are elegant with soft wood tones. Service is attentive without being overbearing. Food was very delicious. They also have an area to book day rooms and massages. Be sure to book once you get in as they were all booked out for the day when I tried to
This is absolutely the best airport lounges! The staff here are so attentive and very kind! There are a few Cathay Lounges here at the Hong Kong airport (3 total), but I'd say this one is the best! It is nice to be able to take a shower , eat, and relax before going on a long grueling flight! There are a lot of food options here! I wish my belly can fit more food! My favorite is the teahouse! So many amazing Chinese teas to try!
The service is friendly and welcoming. The food at the restaurant takes a while so order everything you wish to consume in advance (as if you're on a cruise at dinner). The drinks are yummy. There are several champagne selections and their espresso martini is so delish. The food is delicate and phenomenal. There's so much attention to detail. There's plenty of room for many guest to roam and enjoy this lounge. We didn't have time for a massage but they gave us a mask to-go! Top notch lounge experience

Hands down one of the best F lounges in the world. Love how they rotate lunch/dinner set meals from various restaurants in HK. Only thing I would change would be to add shower suites like you'd find at the Wing. Hoping they retain those as the Wing is currently being renovated. Food and service here is always spot on and always make a point to stop by each time I fly through HK. read more

I miss this lounge. The gold standard of airline lounges. The food esp the Rosewood partnership menu is so satisfying. The spicy wontons are so delicious. I ordered another. Service is so thoughtful and fast. A lot of demanding passengers but I saw the staff handle with so much grace. read more

Sometimes I schedule my flights with extra time and purposely route myself through Hong Kong for one reason: the Cathay Pacific first class lounge at The Pier. Best wagyu burger. Best shower facility. And get this...best private room with a daybed so you can catch up on sleep. My routine is to take a shower, fill up on food, then get one of the private rooms to relax. I'm lucky to have access to such a lounge. Bravo. This is what an airport lounge is supposed to be. read more

THE BEST of the Cathay business class lounges in HKG. Modern, peaceful, and upscale. This lounge was a bit of a walk from our gate but well worth the trek. It has ample seating with a variety of options including booths, tables, sofas, and lounge chairs. We stayed at the lounge for 6 hours and never once did we feel it was crowded or near capacity. They have a tea bar, coffee bar, made to order noodles/buns, variety of both Asian and western food choices for both savory and dessert options, and a full service bar. On this last trip I tried the wonton noodle and the beef/tendon noodle soups which was YUM! Service is great and they came by constantly to tend to our table. The bathrooms are very nice and are stocked with wonderfully smelling Aesop products. They also have showers and a relaxation room in the back. read more
After mulling over which of Cathay Pacific's business lounges to visit at HKG (they have so many), I decided on The Pier since it seemed to have more positive reviews. After our visit, it's definitely one of the nicest lounges I've been to in both the US and abroad (note that most of my lounge visits have been via Priority Pass; seldom do I get to visit first/business class lounges). Keep in mind there's a first class lounge separate from the business lounge (both called The Pier) - I made the mistake of going into the wrong place initially. Stepping in, you'll notice the darker interior, dim lighting, and nice soft yellow hues glowing from the lamps. The vibe feels nice, modern, upscale, but not overly snooty. Once you get in, there are lockers nearby to put your luggage/gear (woot!) - no locks needed as each has a digital lock you can set. Super convenient. I like the corridor layout - the lounge is essentially a long strip broken down by sections or "rooms" either focusing on food/drink or something else. There's an area with the bar, another area with a deli type set up for food, a made to order noodle counter, a room dedicated to tea (they actually give you a small whole pot of tea, made to order), the shower area, and also a sleeping area with very comfortable sofa like lounge chairs to nap. It's very clear what section is what and I like how they separated things out. With things spread out, it never felt overcrowded in the lounge. Showers: Yup, took advantage of this. Convenient that they'll give you a pager if all showers are taken so you can roam around for a bit. I only had to wait 10 minutes before mine was ready - it came sooner than expected so I had to chug down my food as my pager buzzed. The showers reminded me of ones at nice hotels; it's also a good size, clean, has a spot for your luggage, and of course equipped with all your standard amenities (shampoo, conditioner, body wash, toothbrushes, etc). Food: Pretty legit; too bad I wasn't able to try everything. Got dan dan noodles from the bar, meats, cheeses, pineapple buns, cheesecake tarts, beer, wine, etc. They even have a small coffee cart where they'll make your coffee to order (so the coffee machines aren't your only option). All alcohol is free (noticed some lounges in Asia charge extra for it). The Pier is definitely a great lounge - makes you kind of wish your flight would be delayed so you could stay longer. I mean you have: food, alcohol, made to order coffee, showers, a cozy sleeping area, comfy chairs, plenty of space, charging ports, etc. I'd like to make The Pier my next travel destination :) PS: I briefly stopped by The Wing after The Pier. The Pier was definitely better - felt more upscale, newer, and a tad cleaner. The first floor of The Wing didn't impress me much; the open area on the second floor had a better vibe, but still The Pier won me hands down. read more

The pier lounge is located near gate 65. I rarely have a flight in the gate 60-80 area and don't visit the pier often. That is unfortunate because this is definitely the best Cathay business class lounge. Firstly, it is large and there is ample seating for everyone. The food and never options are also the most extensive. The coffee to be frank in the other lounges is not very good. The pier is different, the cappuccino is better than something that I could purchase in the terminal (ie Starbucks and Pacific coffee). It paired really nicely with chocolate croissant that I had. For a lounge the croissant deserves an A grade. This lounge contains a full bar, hot pre-prepared food, pastries, snacks, noodle bar, coffee bar, and tea room. I believe this is the only Cathay lounge that has a tea room. I unfortunately didn't get to try the tea but the interior design is fantastic. From an aesthetic, size, and f&b options point of view this lounge is one of the best I've been to. read more
Quiet, lowslung, chill, and, did I mention, Quiet? This is the lounge out by Gate 63 (out in the Northwest Concourse). There is also a First Class lounge out by Gate 1 called The Wing - the difference is that The Wing is an open-area on the mezzanine level. Broadly speaking, they both have the same amenities, with the differences being * Location: d-uh * Noise levels: You get the crowd noise in The Wing from people walking by downstairs - which may, or may not, be your thing (it *is* more lively). OTOH, it is far airier, with the roof being the airport roof. The Pier is enclosed, at the lower level, with no crowd noise, but the ceiling is around 10 ft or so All that said, they both have excellent bubblies (currently Moet Rose, and Rothschild Brut), great dining (the wonton soup is *stellar*, but, in fact, so is pretty much everything else!), and plenty of uncrowded seating areas. When you get bored, wander around the airport - it's easy to walk a mile or so, just by going from one end of the airport to the other, which should give you a little oomph to come back and chill in the lounge read more
There is no doubt in my mind that The Pier is now my favorite Business Class lounge in the world. My goodness, what a gem Cathay Pacific has created for Oneworld passengers. I got to experience this lounge while waiting to board my HKG-KUL flight, and back home from HKG-DFW. For the later, I easily spent two hours here before boarding dining and drinking, relaxing and showering, and it was a phenomenal pre-flight experience. Immediately when you walk in, go ahead and drop off your carry on luggage in one of the electronic-key lockers. Set your own pin code and make sure you grab your items before boarding. Then proceed to walk in this very vertical lounge, all with great lighting and options to keep you entertained before your flight. Food wise- The Pier offers up the most variety out of all the CX lounges. They have a great selection of hot items such as baked fish and beef stew, traditional dim sum and fried rice, and the largest dessert option with cheesecakes and fruit/cheese platters. On top of that, you have a great bar ready to prepare a stiff drink. Try one of their signature cocktails! The real gem inside The Pier are the dedicated Noodle Bar and Tea Room. These two rooms alone are enough to fill you up before your flight. The Noodle Bar has multiple options including HK wonton noodles, ramen, dan dan mien, and more. Each bowl is small enough so that you can sample multiple at a time. Afterwards, head to the Tea Room for dessert and sip on premium JING tea. The options were endless and absolutely relaxing. Don't forget to enjoy the hundreds of couches, private seating booths, and shower rooms. The overhead shower has that signature Cathay look with it being very modern and clean. If anything, the size allows you some great levels of privacy and comfort in your travels. Absolutely recommend stopping by The Pier if you have access via Oneworld. One of the best first class lounges in the world. Staff are attentive and you also get access to a free 10 min massage if you are here early enough to get in the queue. Food is great and have plenty of choices. read more

The Cathay Pacific 1st Class Lounge, The Pier, is one of the best First Class lounges I've been in. Stationed near gate 63-65. a quick escalator down the stairs gets you greeted immediately by the hosts. I had a 6hr45min layover due to my original inbound flight being cancelled from BKK, and this is where I spent most of my day before leaving HKG to LAX. After dropping off my bags, I entered the pretty spacious lounge. Most every seat is pretty comfortable and has access to USB and power. Directly to the left of the entrance is the pantry, where beers, mineral water, soda, and fresh juices, tea, and water were available for refreshments. There was also an assortment of cheeses, meats, nuts, sandwiches, and pastries. Next to the pantry is a full bar, with an assortment of liquor and the bartenders can craft pretty much any basic cocktail you need. To the right, a hallway leads to a full service dining room. Before that is a business center, and a host/hostess podium where you can schedule a massage, or book a room to nap. I was in around 1:30PM, but for some reason the earliest available appointment was past 7PM, so I didn't get to get a massage. No worries, I had just flown in from BKK where I was getting cheap massages on the daily. The dining room had a decent menu and the host was quick to seat me. I ended up picking silken tofu and a spiced pumpkin soup, both which were delicious. Waitress recommended the Wagyu Burger, and they even had a Beyond Meat burger(not my style). They also had Wonton Noodles, and DanDan Mein, both which I heard were excellent here, but I had just come off a 2 week stay in Hong Kong where I'd been eating plenty of noodles so I needed a break. I had one of their signature cocktails: Ginger Forest, which strangely had no alcohol. It consisted of ginger ale, pieces of candied ginger, and mint (possibly some sucrose as well?). I had the waitress add vodka to make it better. Overall, this was an excellent place to rest for half the day while waiting for my next flight. I definitely recommend stopping by if you have access. read more

What a treat. Had a lovely meal here and a great foot massage. Note that they have a sit down restaurant and everything is made to order. Another great feature are the day suites. This is a semi private room where u can relax before a flight. You don't get a full bed more like a sofa but super comfy. read more
Holy crap. I had heard Cathay's lounges were nice...but I had no idea. Private day rooms with views of the apron? Full service restaurant? Just...classy to the max. This lounge is downstairs from the main terminal, meaning it feel enclosed, but I feel like Cathay has taken advantage of this by making it feel like an incredibly swanky, classy private residence rather than a big airy open lounge, and it totally works. Without feeling claustrophobic by any means, it loses all of its airport feel. Really nice snack and drink spread, aside from the restaurant (where I wanted to try almost everything, but settled for the incredibly rich and flavorful dan dan mian), and a nice open bar, for those of you who take advantage. Frankly, I just wanted to sit on a couch and watch airplanes...success! I know you can exchange Marco Polo Club miles for admittance here - not sure how many, so I'm not sure if it's a good deal or not, nor do I know how this might compare to a less expensive Cathay business class lounge, but...this place is exceptional. If you have a long layover, it would be worth considering buying your way in here, especially with a full restaurant included with the standard lounge snack and open bar fare. read more
I'm always on the hunt for my favorite airline lounge in the world and Cathay's The Pier definitely did not disappoint. After checking out The Wing, I made my 15 min walk over here and immediately put my name down for my complimentary spa session. During my wait I went over to the dining room and ordered a few entrees (the salmon was delicious) with an ever pouring supply of champagne. Life was going amazing at that point, so my spa appointment put me over the edge with a much-needed massage. I finished off my visit with another drink at the lounge area, followed by a creme brulee latte. If you feel like you want to unwind and grab some peace, then I highly suggest reserving one of the day suites here. You get a small, personal room, where you can take a quick nap or just enjoy watching the planes outside. I highly suggest stopping by The Pier if you're flying first class and not just stopping at The Wing lounge (although their spa cabanas are incredible). read more
The newly-renovated Pier brings Cathay to the next level of luxe lounges. The massive lounge has tons of comfortable seating, cleverly hidden plugs and plenty of space to spread out and relax. Speaking of relaxation, The Pier offers complementary massage services to lounge-goers. You can opt for a 10 minute foot massage followed by a 10 minute neck-shoulder-scalp massage or, as I did, have the full 20 minute treatment focused on the neck and shoulders. The massage was quite good, and they use a towel rather than oil so you won't be all greasy for your flight. The lounge also has a well-stocked pantry with a variety of snacks and sweet treats and a large fridge full of many brands of beer, soft drinks and juices. The full bar offers several signature cocktails -- try the Lion Rock, it's excellent -- along with a lengthy list of wines, champagnes and liquors. I have yet to try the sit-down restaurant, but plan on doing so soon. However, if the Peninsula-run restaurant in The Wing is any guide I expect it to be quite tasty. 5 stars for you, Cathay -- The Pier is a fantastic addition to your high-quality lounges across HKIA! I look forward to spending many pre-flights relaxing here. read more

It is always a pleasure to get early to the airport when you access the Pier, first class and frequent flyers lounge. Go to the dining room for a sit-down meal (the Angus beef burger is a must for carnivores). Or just order a glass of Champagne at the main bar. Toilets & Showers are in pristine condition, featuring Aesop products. read more

This review is for The Pier Business Class lounge, which is probably one of the best, if not the best lounge experience worldwide! This was renovated pretty recently and boy its day and night compared to the previous one! The overall design of the lounge is warm and welcoming. It has lots of seating areas that are comfortable and inviting. It even has an area where you can take naps! This lounge can definitely accommodate a number of passengers. The food is very similar to Cathay Pacific's other lounges at the HKIA. There is the Noodle Bar, Tearoom and the usual drinks bar. Hong Kong, being Cathay's base, you'd expect something like this. This however is not true with other airlines like British Airways in LHR - where their lounge was crap! The lounges in LAX, JFK and SYD are no match. Kudos to Cathay Pacific! read more
Great atmosphere, great service, and great food, what more can you ask for in a first class lounge? You can get a message and take a shower, have a light self served snack or have a full 3 course meal in their dining room. The menu is good with many options that can satisfy a variety of tastes. Service was prompt and always with a smile. Great experience, a must do if you ever get a chance. read more
Fantastic Business Class lounge to refuel and rest before another leg of the long journey. If you are not travelling on Business Class but is a Cathay Pacific frequent flyer member, you can redeem your frequent flyer points to access it. There is a cafe, a noodle bar, a bar, a tea house and plenty of big lounge chairs for you to relax and most of all, there is a dedicate secure wifi connection. It is a bit surreal as you can have as much food and drink as you like for free, all you have to do is to ask. I suppose you pay for it with your Business Class ticket. This lounge is located very close to the departure gates going to Australia and definitely less crowded than the others. I would recommend this over the ones closer to the shops if you want to relax and looking for some quiet time in Hong Kong Airport. read more
