I just had the worst service. I spent a 100$ on pizza and rock hard bread sticks to be shorted a sauce. I asked for another and kept waiting for 10 mins while there's 15 employees in the back. I finally left and called to complain and they had the nastiest attitudes, including the manager. I will NOT be spending that type of money to be talked to like that by the manager. My parents had their wedding reception here in 1977. I don't think anything about PV has changed since then. They still have the same really uncomfortable plastic benches, the giant rotating oven, and andy the owner who's a total hardass. The pizza is amazing. It's my favorite pizza in the world. Seth, the reason I said the pizza was not great is because the sauce tasted like a good version of catsup, the cheese was sliding off, and the crust was tasteless. Even if you use the best products reality is the dough probably cost $1.50, the cheese bought in bulk may cost $2.00, and the sausage $2.50. That brings it to a total of $6. However, on multiple occasions I've seen the new owner yell at his employees and slam his fist on the table which is very unprofessional and unpleasant to see. love this place under previous owner but It's just not the same no more. Hard to get through on calls when it's open. A pizza and two sandwiches took over 1 hour and still had to wait 20 mins when picking up. Thought it was just cause they just reopened and learning still but Nope, a month later and still over a hour on orders and than 20-30 more mins during pickup. Have heard nothing but great things about this place for years. I finally visited this evening. Got a salad bar 1 trip (6.99) nothing really great there. Basic iceberg lettuce, tomatoes cut in slices, blah blah. Nothing special. Ordered a medium supreme ($27). The best way to describe the way the pizza tasted was: frozen pizza cooked in the oven with some canned toppings added. Best pizza in Merced! The ingredients are awesome! I love the fact that u can taste the freshnesss of the veggies and the fact that the pizza dough is hand made. If u want to eat pizza ....don't go to pizza hut or dominoes....go to pizza villa they take the time and effort to satisfy their customers and theirs a reason they've been voted best pizza in town by the Merced Sun-Star. Well, second visit since new owner took over. Had a terrible time getting thru on the phone, which I understand. Sunday night, last weekend before Christmas. Girl on the phone very scripted and phony. But ok. Once we got there, better service than the last time. They actually called our name when our pizza was ready rather than letting us sit an extra half hour before we went to the counter asked where our pizza was. Salad bar a huge disappointment. Half the stuff from the old salad bar was gone. Don't want carrots in my lettuce so save yourself some money and skip that. Or, better yet. Try fresh carrots! Where was the creamy Italian dressing? My favorite. Now, the pizza. Why is there cheddar cheese on the pizza? Andy's pizza never had "yellow" cheese and they were fabulous. 50 years of the same thing. Little hard to change what we all loved about Pizza Villa. Cheddar on a pizza? Gross! lots of toppings, evenly spread this time. Good job! But my linguica, cut so thick it didn't crisp up. All it did was soak the pizza with linguine grease. We will give it one more try. A 50 year habit is hard to break, but we are pretty darned close. read more

Pizza Villa is the best pizza place in Merced. I believe they slice all their own meat in house instead of having prepackaged frozen meat. They do get extremely busy on Friday nights for delivering(in my experience). It's best to call ahead of time in the afternoon, otherwise it'll be very hard to get a call through. Otherwise, I'd recommend this pizza to anyone! read more

The food is really good but the service sucks. Almost every time I have ordered for pickup the order was screwed up when I got home. Several times I ordered additional fries with sandwiches (which come with a bag of chips) and never got the fries. The last time I ordered the Hilly Billy Burger (which comes with BBQ sauce, fries, bacon, mozzarella & cheddar cheese) without cheese for my wife, who has a dairy allergy. I even mentioned the dairy allergy when I ordered. So when I picked up the order I asked the person if it was made without cheese and they said "YES, THE ORDER SAYS NO CHEESE". When I got home it had cheese on it and my wife could not eat it. When I called to complain the person on the phone looked up the order and it said "NO CHEDDAR CHEESE" so they put the mozzarella on it. So apparently the person that took the order did not realize that both MOZZARELLA & CHEDDAR were cheeses and only saw the CHEDDAR. read more

I've been giving Pizza Villa my business for as long as I can remember. today I called in an order for pickup at 5:20. the owner took my order and told me it would be 50 minutes. I know they work at a more leisurely pace, and I've never minded because I like the pizza so much. so I figured about an hour or more. I showed up at 6:15, paid the nice young lady, and she told me she'd let me know when my pizza would be ready. the owner would take a pizza out of the oven, put another one in, repeat, repeat. I started looking closer, and there's no family sized deluxe pizza in the oven. I asked the girl, and she looks, there's an uncooked pizza waiting to be put in the oven. she said that one was mine, and said they were getting ready to place it in the oven. it takes 30 minutes to cook. it was 6:45, and I thought the guy would admit they screwed up, but instead told me if I didn't like it, I could go somewhere else. what a prick! read more

First off let me start off by saying this Pizza is by far so original and the taste is amazingly authentic! Original as in no one can ever make one like this!!! The pepperoni is my kids FAVORITE!!! It's everything a pepperoni pie should be!!! I love how the owner is all about customer satisfaction! If you are not satisfied (for any reason) he will refund you or make you another one at your choice NO QUESTIONS ASKED!!! This is something a lot of employers should look up to!! I always get the pepperoni it goes amazingly with some Parmesan & Crystal hot sauce!!! My next pie we try will definitely be the linguisa! I hear so many people say how it's sooo good !!! And if you have kids don't forget the cookies!! They have some delicious chocolate chip cookies! The people working there aren't that friendly and the decor of the restaurant is just horrendous.. the 90s called and they want their stuff back. Also, the pizza is more expensive than most places but it's really good. The salad bar is pretty good but I feel like the people who work there stare at you while you get your salad.. they seem to be pretty crazy about making sure no one gets more than one serving. The Pizza itself tastes pretty good, and is of good quality. It comes out incredibly hot though, so careful not to burn yourself. It wasn't uncommon for friends of mine to lightly burn a bit of the roof of their mouths when they were impatient. The bread sticks aren't bad either, and the salad bar tastes pretty good too, the taste quality is above average all around. Rather pricey place though, while the pizza and salad bar are definitely of better quality than your average pizza place, it's questionable if it's actually worth the price you'll be paying for, especially since you're limited on just about everything else. No free refills on drinks, and only one serving of the Salad Bar at a time. The pizza portions are fine though, so it's likely you'll at least be able to eat your fill. The atmosphere is kind of old-fashioned, but comfortable nonetheless. Not bad for a group of friends, but if you're a college student, you're probably not going to be coming here often simply due to the price range. Definitely not bad occasionally though, and it isn't a stretch to say it's the best pizza place in Merced, though that says more about Merced than it does about the pizza here. read more
