Actually 2 of the 3 of us had a birthday in the last 4 weeks. 1 of us had been to Tauro Cocina before. The food was excellent! We shared a house salad which was very good. The 3 entries ordered were: Linguine al Poblano, (house-made linguine tossed in our specialty poblano pesto with grilled chicken) Cilantro Risotto (cilantro cream risotto, served with spicy grilled shrimp, topped with shaved parmesan) And Grilled Salmon (served with your choice of risotto & sauteed seasonal. Each one was unique, so flavorful & freshly prepared. Excellent! The service was top notch. I had called earlier to see if they did anything for birthdays. The reply was yes. When arriving the host asked if we were celebrating any special event, confirming my call. Through the entire meal service was attentive without being obtrusive. When our plates were cleaned (with leftovers for each of us) the server brought out plates for both birthday friends. The plates had 3 churros, a small dish of warm chocolate sauce, were decorated with Happy Birthday & a candle. All with finesse. An overall great meal and great experience. The only complaint i can offer is that our server was not as attentive as you'd want. It wasn't bad service; just not as prompt as you'd expect (i.e. asked how our food was as we were halfway through the dish, we finished our cocktails and were never asked if we wanted another, empty plates sat on the table a bit longer than they should). None of which will keep us from coming back. Will chalk it up to a busy Saturday first seating.

I have a love/hate relationship with Pizza Shuttle. I love that they have online ordering (the less human interaction, the better!) and that they deliver all the way to Bayview. I love that their extensive menu provides a mind-boggling amount of options. I love the very long hours they keep... ...but that's where it ends. The food leaves much to be desired. I've tried 3 of their specialty pizzas on different occasions (the Creamy Artichoke, the 8-Cheese Dairy State, and the Chicken Cordon Bleu). The crust was burnt and inedible each time. Charred crust aside, the artichoke one probably could've been pretty good. The cheese one should've had more flavor considering the ridiculous amount of different cheeses. The cordon bleu one was so dry, I felt like I was gnawing on rawhide - couldn't get past the first bite. The many fried appetizers often seem like they stayed in that vat of oil a bit too long. I was looking forward to trying the new fried green beans, but they did not retain any of their much-needed crispness. I was also hyped about the breakfast burrito, as this is often my stand-by dish at casual-type places. Unfortunately, the potatoes were, once again, burnt to a nasty degree. So sad. The specialty salads are tasty, but they seem so expensive compared to other menu items. It doesn't make sense that a personal pizza loaded with toppings costs a few dollars less than a salad. I guess I should be used to Milwaukee promoting unhealthy eating and jacking up the prices for healthy fare. Everything here is extremely greasy, so be prepared to sop up the overflow with stacks of napkins. The ice cream, sundaes, and shakes are all good, but overpriced - you can get cheaper, better-tasting ones at smaller shops, such as The Gyro Stand on Oklahoma Ave. The menu is constantly shifting here. A few years ago, they offered a meatless Philly "steak" (I think seitan) and cheese sub, and it was perfect. They removed this from the menu and now have zero meat substitute options. You'd think they still would, considering this is by the UWM campus and right by where many artsy, environmentally-aware families live (as these groups tend to have vegetarians in their midst). Despite these numerous pitfalls, I won't stop giving them my business, simply because of the ease of online ordering and delivery. What can I say; I'm a child of convenience. A warning about the delivery, though - if your order is large, they are pretty much guaranteed to leave at least one item out. read more

Last night, I got one of the worst pizzas I have ever tasted from this place. I share my tale of dread as a warning to all who might dare to order from this unholy establishment: I called in an order for delivery, having gotten home too late and tired to cook. After enduring a truly awful series of impersonations - all VERY dated pop culture references - I was connected to an employee who was at 'Ghostbusters receptionist' of hating her job. This was my first warning; however, I foolishly pressed on, having a coupon in hand and a black hole in my stomach. When the pizza arrived, I found that I could nearly fill a kid's pool with the grease in the box. Disgusted but very, very hungry, I pressed on. Having survived college on similar food, I figured I could take it. How wrong I was. The dough was copious and bland. In places, it was undercooked. The sausage was shockingly flavorless. I never determined if there was actually bacon on the pizza, although I had ordered some. The tomato sauce was sickly sweet. The whole pizza was saltier than a crabber who's fallen on hard times and turned to piracy on the high seas. I managed to choke down only a couple slices - although I was still hungry, I was afraid that I wouldn't be able to keep any more down. Why didn't I call and complain, you ask? Why, because the pizza was obviously not intended to be any better. It resembles nothing more closely than contemporary Pizza Hut pizzas, which commercials assure me is edible and not previously digested. Based on what I saw of this pizza - and other reviews here on Yelp - this pizza was exactly the quality of product that Pizza Shuttle normally produces. I advise everyone not to eat this crap. Yes, it's cheap but the quality of the ingredients, the recipe, and the cooking is all as trashy as it gets without risking being shut down by health inspectors. read more

Pizza Shuttle: Milwaukee's Late-Night Pizza Hero Pizza Shuttle is a lifesaver for anyone craving amazing pizza at any hour! Their menu is massive, but the pizza truly steals the show. Used to love Pizza shuttle a few years ago in my college days but they've been making changes and really sacrificing quality to save a buck. I ordered a pizza for delivery with a thin crust and it was absolutely a frozen crust complete with no flavor and machine cut holes in the bottom. It was too crunchy and inedible on the edges and almost raw in the middle. They also used to have some of the best ice cream and now have switched to a cheaper brand. They tried to tell me that their new ice cream was just as good, so maybe they never tried the kind they used to have. You can still get a decently priced slice, but the last one I had obviously had been there awhile. What happened to you Pizza Shuttle? read more

The verdict on the two pizzas: The Buffalou Chicken had good flavor, we all agreed. But most of the pizza was crust - we wanted a bit more of a topping layer. Still it tasted good, and we liked they included little packets of oregano, parmesan, and hot chili flakes as toppings. The Lou pizza was also tasty, and the fresh sliced tomatoes on the top provided a nice tangy flavor. Also with this one, we felt the crust was a little much and we wanted more topping. But maybe that is part of the "deep dish" style - it's a bit different than some of the other deep dish pizzas we've tried. This pizza is good quality, good tasting, and very filling. He made sure we had everything we needed before he left, and he left a warming bag with us to keep some of the smaller food in before we busted into the boxes (we returned it later, and there wasn't a certain time by when we had to get it back, which was nice). The food itself was pretty good--the pizzas were a little greasy, and the cheese bread a little overcooked, but otherwise it was excellent food. We got orders of cheese curds, garlic bread, cheese bread, pizzas, sandwiches, and a salad, and all of the food was fresh and/or hot, with nothing seeming like it had been cooked far in advance and then left under a heat lamp until the order was ran over to us. I personally ordered a chicken parmesan sandwich, and it was excellent--the chicken tenders in the sandwich were crispy and warm, the marinara sauce not too sweet, and the cheese perfectly melted. Based on the ease of ordering and the great delivery service, combined with the really good taste of the food, we plan on using these guys again at my work for catering purposes, and I wouldn't mind getting an order here myself someday when I'm around town, especially one of their many specialty sandwiches, which all have pretty phenomenal names IMO.
