6/11/2019 Update After my first excellent experience with this pizza parlor, I had a taste to try it again. This time I ordered ahead for another large thick pizza, plain cheese. During the course of the call the employee yelled back: "Do we have any Long Island Grandma pizzas left?" The person he was yelling to responded: "four." I was wondering the first time how it only took 15 minutes to cook a thick crust pizza. This made me think something was going on, like the pizzas were partially cooked already. That all is beside the point. This time the pizza was ready when I arrive to pick it up 20 minutes after placing the order. The difference in quality was substantial from my first experience, and not in a good way. The taste was rather bland, like mozzarella cheese with no seasoning or other added cheeses. Also, where one corner of the pizza was warm (not quite hot). the opposite corner of the pizza was room temperature. Time to drive home after picking up the pizza was 6 minutes, so that wasn't a factor. So like so many other places, this one is inconsistent as well. I'm going to have to go to Westshore from now on First time: order finally came out of the kitchen about 45 minutes late, where I sat there & waited in the heat. Second time: i ordered an app, which they apparently didn't have or whatever. I think it was the risotto balls. Nobody called & asked me to sub or anything. We didn't have enough food for our guests. Tonight: same thing. No appetizer. Then they told me they lost the ticket, and they dropped the pizza. Then the pizza I got was burnt. Dropped pizza.. then burnt? Wonder what my suspicions are. It's Thursday & the place was empty so no excuses. They genuinely just didn't give a shot It's amazing that this business can't understand a simple concept of: give the customer what they order. I visited Pizza Rock for the second time on a Friday evening with my daughter. The experience was the same each time. My only complaints were that (both times) we were seated at a tiny table, in a heavy traffic area, and that both times, it took a very long time to get our food. The latter was not a big deal to me because I wasn't in a hurry, and I know that they were very busy, so it's understandable. I'm just mentioning it, in case anyone is looking to come for a quick meal before a movie or something. With that being said, the service is friendly and the pizza is AMAZING! On both visits, we ordered the Margherita pizza, and it was perfect. The crust has the perfect amount of crunch and the ingredients taste fresh. Unlike at a lot of pizza places, here you can taste all of the ingredients, rather than just the sauce and cheese. The crust also seems to be made with higher quality ingredients, as I was able to eat several slices without feeling overly full and bloated. read more

About three years ago, I tried out Pizza Rock from a friend's recommendation. I had several business and personal trips to New York City and was eager to try a local establishment that can mimic the city. Yet, this place is better then many of the pizzerias I sampled. First, when you walk in it carries this New York/Italian/Mom-Pop Ambience. There are many photos of NYC and Italy displayed on the walls. Plus, the professional graffiti and classic concert posters contribute to New York vibe. It feels like a restaurant right outside a subway entrance. There are plenty of TVs showing local sporting events too. Let's get to the pizza. They use quality ingredients and a wood fired oven. Pizzas are made for the customers to view. Watching the process is mesmerizing and the staff will talk to you and answer any questions. There is a plethora of ingredients to choose from and you can pick a Brooklyn or New York style. The styles have different cuts of mozzarella. The pizza sauce, dough, and ingredients are prepped daily. If you don't want to build, there are plenty of specialty pizzas to choose from. I tried them all, but my favorite is the Giulietta's Funghi and Isabella's Margherita. The specialty pizzas will change based on customer demand. I also believed a cheese pizza is the base of a great pie. When you add the other toppings, it makes it even better. How is the pizza, the best I ever had?! Every pizza I had is consistent and delicious. The other things on the menu include sandwiches like a Meatball or Philly Cheese Steak. A couple salads to try is Marty's Original Italian Chopped Salad or Greek. Keep in mind even the small salad is huge, will easily feed two. Full size will feed at least four people. On the appetizer menu the wings are unique. They are baked in pizza oven then fried with a assortment of sauces to choose from. Also try the cheesy garlic bread and meatballs to satisfy the appetite. For drinks they serve Coca-Cola products along with beer and wine. Being a regular I have got to know the staff well. Some have become friends. If you get to know the staff, they'll take you behind the counter and show you how to make pizza. This is especially fun for kids. Every time I walk through the door I am greeted like Norm from Cheers. With a name like Pizza Rock there is also a diverse selection of music from the 50s/60s/70s/80s/90s. The main genre is Rock (of course) but you'll also hear R/B, Disco, Dance, and Pop to name a few. To wrap it up, I couldn't ask for a better experience with great people and food. I look forward to visiting the establishment knowing I will have a good time and feel like I'm hanging with family. I have had many laughs and will continue to support this local business. I introduced Pizza Rock to family and friends. My uncle said this was the best pizza he has ever had. I can't wait to try out the second location when it opens. However, give the staff a break about asking when it will open. There will be plenty announcements when a date is set. Thank you Marty and staff, you all are the best!!! read more

We went to Pizza Rock on Saturday and the service was horrible. The place was dead and we were seated immediately. We waited for someone to come over and take our order....And we waited. Finally the server came over and my wife wanted a Sangria....We don't have that she said. I wanted a Michelob ultra...we don't have that she said. So I ordered a STELLA. After 10 mins of waiting we finally decided to leave only to see our server behind the bar BS'in behind the bar with the bartender. She looked at us in disbelief as we walked out. Hands down the best Pizza in the area, arguably Tampa. After rave reviews and multiple visits (within one month) we finally took the advice of Rob's parents and went for dinner. His parents are already regulars and know the entire staff. We loved the small and welcoming atmosphere. But let's talk about the food. Because it's more than just pizza. We ordered Marty's Italian salad. I'd go just for that. Honestly. Appetizer bread is freshly baked and paired with an olive oil and pepper dip. Okay I'd go just for that, too. Honestly. This visit we tried "The Rock" Brooklyn style pizza. Rob's parents ordered one of their faves, clam and bacon pizza. Generous portions all around, including wine! We knew this was our new fav pizza place halfway through dinner. Spumoni ice cream for dessert was perfect. Next time we'll try the wings. This place is the real deal. This was a first time visit, and it definitely will not be the last one. I was super impressed with this new pizzeria. It's unique in many different ways. First of all, the smell of the wood fire oven immediately draws you in. The second thing you notice are the fresh loaves of Italian bread that they have displayed by the cashier. Yes, they make them fresh all day long. I was already hooked even before being seated. Anyway, mom and I had a wonderful meal. We started with their toasted bread that's served with a spiced olive oil for dipping or spooning it over the bread slices. It was delicious. It had lots of fresh garlic and spices. I'd definitely get that again. We had a difficult time deciding on which specialty pizza to order. They had so many unique combinations. Some with toppings such as burrata cheese, clams, calabrian peppers, artichokes, fig jam, wood fired red peppers, prosciutto di Parma, and so much more. These are gourmet rustic wood fired pizzas. The type that I remember having when traveling through Rome and Sorrento. We finally decided to try Nonna's White Clam Pizza. We took the advice of the owner and added bacon. It was so good. It was even topped with about 6 whole little neck clams in their own shell. I've never seen a presentation like it. I was also happy to see that my mother ate 3 slices of it. She never eats more than two. I also felt like it was a family owned and run pizzeria. The staff worked like a family. Every member assisted us at least once during our meal. Siara was wonderful from beginning to end. I even got a loaf of bread to take home. They also make panini's with their homemade bread. I may have to try their Caprese panini on my next visit. The bread is so soft, but hearty. My husband really like it. We had it for breakfast the very next day. Better than Cuban bread IMO. Best pizza place in Brandon. I tried this my first night I moved from NY in January and I got it about once a month ever since. REAL pepperoni that curls when it's cooked. Not too thick, not too thin and not too crispy. "Perfect amount of flop" if you will. This place is always popular and sometimes has an hour long wait for a pie, which is well worth the wait. The staff is very friendly. We had the Maui wowi without the fire yesterday. It was delicious and fresh. The ham was actual chucks, not the normal shaving ham. I hadn't been to Pizza Rock for a while but it was always our go to place for pizza. I placed an order online for a New York style pizza and garlic cheese bread. I was notified what time to pick up our order and when I went in there was no one at the register. I waited almost 10 minutes while a girl in the dining room cleared a table and came to the register to cash out the guests. She then took the credit card slip back to the table for them to sign. I got tired of standing there so I sat down and about 5 minutes later the girl came and asked me what I wanted. I told her I ordered on line and was notified my order would be ready for pick up at 6:35. It was now after 7:00 when she brought me our order. The pizza was barely warm on the bottom of the box and the cheese bread was in a box on the top. I left and gave the boxes to my wife in the car. On the way home she opened the cheese bread to eat a piece and it was all stuck to the top of the box. The pizza itself was nothing like I remembered. Aside from being cold we needed a scissors to cut the pizza because it wasn't sliced all the way through. The dough was chewy and the sauce wasn't very good at all. Quick and easy service. We got a 16" for only $10 for their Tuesday deal (they have many others everyday), and you can add toppings for around $1/each. Wow! Wow, Wow... I ordered from this place for the first time and wow let me tell you what!!! The flash-fried Wings are hands down the best in Brandon and maybe Tampa? And the Pizza are you kidding me!? Typically Proscuitto is salty well this pro was not, they also use fresh Mushrooms which I am a huge fan of, and then there is that Italian Sausage wish I knew what label they use? I have never tasted Sausage that is so flavorful. I also like when the managers and or owners acknowledge new customers, these guys along with their wait staff are top-notch. We called early on Christmas Eve to confirm when they were closing. We were told that they close at four today. We planned a pizza meal for the holiday. I called at 3pm to order the food for my family and was informed that they were already closed because things were slow. Changing hours unexpectedly like that is disrespectful.
