Stayed in Sturgis recently, and decided to order in rather than firing up the bike. Based on Yelp reviews, I chose Pizza Ranch....and MAN that was the right choice! I called in, and went through the variety of choices with with the person who answered the phone. Asked for a small thin crust pizza, pepperoni/sausage, but well done (emphasizing the latter). Also asked for red pepper to sprinkle on ('cause what's a pizza without pepper?) What I got was a fantastic thin crust pizza, a bag of red pepper, and the most enthusiastic delivery guy. Evah. Ate there a week ago and it cost me $13.95 plus tax. Not a bad deal and some pretty good chicken, and the pizza was okay. Went inside today and was going to eat there again but they raise the price to $18 during the rally. Not sure why Pizza Ranch raise their prices because of the rally, but that ain't right. All five stars go to their chicken!!! I have heard for a couple years now about how good the fried chicken is. I was skeptical 1. Being from the south and 2. This being a pizza buffet..... no need to be skeptical anymore. It was seasoned perfectly but the crust is so light and airy yet crispy. It's a crust like none I have had before. If you are a fried chicken fan give Pizza Ranch a shot. As for their pizza I felt it was typical buffet pizza though I was in mid afternoon so it was a little sparse so I'd give their pizza another shot or if I was just wanting a quick lunch with salad and pizza but it's certainly the chicken that will bring me back. read more

First off, we checked prices online and it said 12.99 per adult and 6.99 per child ages 9-12 for lunch buffet. We get there about 11:30am and they charged us 14.99 per adult and I don't know what for the kids but we paid 83+ for six people. They did not give me a copy of my receipt. There were only three different pizzas to choose from. I figured there would be maybe one specialty pizza as an option but they were all plain Jane kinds (one had three veggie toppings and that was as close to specialty pizza as it got). There was fruit in the dinner salad, Ice cream ran out mid lunch rush and The people clearing off tables weren't wiping them down after people left. One plus was the chicken was fresh. Honestly you are better off going to a chain like dominos, Pizza Hut, or little cesars. I called and ordered pickup from the restaurant, and asked how big the largest size was and they said 14 slices. We were a starving group of 4 so we went ahead and ordered that. I also asked for ranch on the side. Then we got inside and it was not clean, and was pretty gross on the inside. Then we where given a tiny box and almost walked out the door with it till I asked the cashier "are you sure this is the large?" Then she checked and realized she Gave us the WRONG pizza! So she said oops sorry and made us wait another 10 minutes for it. Once we got it and got home we opened the box only to be disappointed. It was only 10 TINY slices of pizza instead of 14 like they said. And NO ranch was with the pizza even though I asked for some. We came in at 8:10 pm, starving after a long day of hiking & exploring the South Dakota and Wyoming landscape. The buffet doesn't get new food after 8 pm. Not the best pizza and food but very convenient and adequate. We ate there once while in Sturgis on a motorcycle trip. It was near our hotel so it was convenient for us to walk to. For large groups and for those who like to guzzle lots of foot, this is your place. We would eat here again but look elsewhere if fine dining was on the agenda. We stopped at the Pizza Ranch during the 75th anniversary Sturgis Motorcycle Rally (2015). With a million people in town for the week, many businesses were overwhelmed. Pizza Ranch was one of those places! We were headed back into Sturgis after riding all day and it was starting to rain. We were planning on stopping for the buffet, and it looked like everybody else had the same idea! I think a bunch more were looking to get out of the rain. This place was packed! We entered the restaurant and the manager told us they were having trouble keeping up. All the tables were filled and people were standing everywhere waiting. Luckily we found a table in the back room and sat right away. As we headed for the buffet, the lines were long and the food was slow. They would bring out a pizza or 3 for the buffet table and it was all gone within seconds and people were left waiting for the next food delivery. Most people were grabbing a little food, then returning back in 5 minutes hoping for more. After about 5-6 visits to the buffet, we got our fill ( getting 1 slice of pizza each time, 2 if we were lucky)! The food tasted pretty good and was hot, for the most part it came right out of the oven and right into somebody's waiting mouth. I understand that this was the motorcycle rally, but the manager should not have accepted patrons if they didn't have the food or seating for them! We ate here for dinner. Laurie, who was friendly and helped another girl at the register, had pet hair all over her shirt, disgusting! You'd think employees would at least have clean clothes, especially when handling our food. She also grabbed our glasses with her dirty hand around the top rim part where we drink from. No wonder so many folks get sick from dining out! I completely lost my appetite and would have left if we hadn't already paid. The chicken was hot and tasty, though but kept wondering if there was pet hair in my food. Also, wish they would use canned green beans like KFC instead of those tasteless frozen veggies. Buffet has good selection of pizzas. Other hot foods are a little weak, and salad bar could benefit from having more than 3 dressings.

The parking lot has plenty of room for an RV if they aren't busy (wouldn't recommend trying this during the Harley time in August, though). I pulled into the parking lot in my RV, ordered the Prairie Pizza (which is the vegetarian pizza) because I had been craving pizza for two days! I wasn't that impressed, but it could be that I had been craving pizza for two days, and maybe it just didn't meet my expectations for that. I *may* have gone back for...several. My only complaint is that $13.50 for a pizza buffet is WAY too high. This is a great family place to eat, there is a game room and a buffet. The pizza was hot and fresh. There was fried chicken and really good mashed potatoes and gravy. Too bad they don't have one in my neck of the woods. My wife and I ate there three times while camping and for two people getting to eat all you wanted from the buffet it was more than a bargain. Nothing fancy but I liked the fact that you could order any pizza with whatever toppings they could put on it and not charge extra if you got the buffet. And they fixed it in under 6 minutes. I recently visited the Pizza Ranch of Sturgis. I am a former PR manager from Iowa and I would like to say that this was an impressive visit. I came in on Sunday July 3rd around 11:15am so the rush was starting to settle down. Not once did I see an empty pizza tray sit for more an a minute on the pizza bar. The chicken looked very fresh and seemed as if it was cooked in clean oil. The mashed potatoes were just right, not runny but not thick, and the same for the gravy. Looking around they were still fairly busy but every table was clean and if someone left, their table didnt sit long before being cleaned. GREAT WORK AT THIS RANCH!! read more

I have been to other "pizza ranches" in the area ie: spearfish, rapid city, this one is much better than those by far. The manager must really care here. I go to rapid city a couple of times a month and make it my pleasure to stop here on the way or back.
