Floor staff were hustling, keeping tables clean, and asking if they could get things for us. Chicken was good, and the fresh pizza that was available was pretty good. The cashier, however, wouldn't give us clean cups without charging us, which was pretty weird as we had just spent a kings ransom for a pizza buffet that contained 10% fresh pizza from the kitchen. I visited Springfield for work, and some coworkers suggested Pizza Ranch. The restaurant has plenty of seating with a good number of tables and chairs. Employees are nice and greet you at the door. The chicken is always top-tier, the sides are above average, and the prices are fair. Came in to visit my son and his family and we decided to go to Pizza Ranch. First, let me say the food was hot. The restaurant was clean. The servers were right on top of everything but during our visit, apparently my son was coming down with the flu and just couldn't eat and started to feel sick the manager and I didn't catch his name. I'm sorry wonderful young man noticed right away there was an issue came over made sure everything was OK. Noticed he didn't eat immediately reimbursed me and was just so attentive to the whole situation. The breadsticks were awesome, and they had a very elaborate salad bar, with lots of choices. They also offer dessert pizzas, and soft-serve ice cream, which was delicious! We visited Pizza Ranch as a family of 6 adults and 6 kids on our trip to Michigan City Indiana. We were promptly greeted and sat. The food was delicious! The pizza was hot and the chicken/fries were also crispy and great. My only issue, and the reason this wasn't a 5 star trip, was the pizza buffet wasn't stocked for a good chunk of time and the dessert pizza was never refilled. Visited this location with my tour group of 100 students. From the first moment the manager stepped onto our bus to talk with the group, the manager Christina began sharing directions and procedures in a very angry and frustrated way. We figured...ok, maybe she is having a bad day, but then it only got worse after we began filling the restaurant according to her directions given. Christina continued to scream at the kids for no apparent reason, telling us they needed to make room for "actual paying customers." Not only was the place basically empty other than the one couple they seated in the middle of our kids, every single one of these kids was a paying customer. Christina yelled at the kids in one of the most disrespectful ways I have ever had someone talk to a group of well behaved kids and customers. After leading student tours for over 25 years, this was one of the best behaved groups of kids I have ever had, and they were treated with utter disrespect by the store manager. I will NEVER visit this location ever again. On a side note: Every one of the regular employees treated us with professionalism and kindness, and seemed embarrassed at how their manager had just treated us. read more

For a buffet style pizza place they have some amenities that are top notch. 1. They have a rewards program. 2. If you do not like the choices on the buffet you may order your own pizza (which is great for someone like me who does no cheese) and they bring it out too your table. 3. If you aren't into pizza they still have amazing fried chicken with fixings and a salad bar. Both are variations on the same concept. The Corral subscribes to the "more is better" buffet model. Pizza Ranch says "let's focus on making fewer items better." More than half its food items aren't pizza but the same comfort foods you'll find at the Corral: fried chicken, green beans, sweet corn, mashed potatoes, fresh salad bar with various toppings, jello, puddings, and soft serve ice cream. Food quality and taste are about the same at both places. The Ranch includes drinks in its buffet charge, which is $1-2 less per person than GC. I've always wanted to die in a cool way, like getting blown up, or getting crushed by a vending machine. I don't want to die at pizza ranch. The fried chicken was so wet that the breading slipped off, the salad tasted like rubber, and the potato chips were so soggy that the serving spoon tore through them like they were wet paper. Don't even get me started on the pizza, if you can even call it that. For literally being named pizza ranch, you would expect the pizza to be at least half decent, but the pizza was so indescribably horrible that I couldn't eat more than one bite. I wouldn't be surprised if this place is haunted by the spirts of children who decided to try the pizza. The rancid smell of what I think was Parmesan cheese, mixed with the musty feet smell of the Fun Zone, lingered in the air. Service was okay. The soft serve gave me jaundice. The lady running the soft serve machine looked very apologetic. Also, did I mention the fact that it's an all you can eat buffet restaurant, so all the food items were mixed together? The fried chicken was covered in mashed potatoes, and the breadsticks were covered in some strange cheese sauce. Can I rate this 0/5 stars? We reserved a room for a birthday party and that was very easy. The food was great and there was plenty of it even with several large parties and a bus of college baseball players. The employee who came and cleared dirty plates was very friendly and he showed up frequently. The only bad thing was that they were completely out of coke. I was also told they were out of Sprite Zero, but that's gross anyway. It seems like they didn't get a stock of soda or something. The buffet was sparce mostly pizza that was sitting there for a while. One thing I noticed was there was a lot of tables who ordered their own pizza. First of all, we had a long day driving with a trailer travel, so it's parked at the comfort Inn looking for food nearby that would deliver. The pizza ranch was the nearest option and their online ordering system worked pretty well telling us to expect an hour wait for delivery. After an hour and 10 minutes we called and they said they don't deliver anymore but use DoorDash and it hadn't been picked up yet, but they had our order. he suggested that he would wait until they picked it up before issuing a refund so that they didn't think it was canceled. Our food finally came after an hour and 45 minutes. The salads were OK but we were beyond hungry at that point and it was getting late. Also, they forgot to put in napkins and silverware - which were not available to us at the hotel either. the boneless chicken wings had been warmed over at that point, and they didn't have much taste. Unfortunately, the blue cheese dressing I ordered with the salad was also left out of the bag . We were also offered the free cookie, but it was tasting like it was burnt. Back home now looking for that refund and I hope they come through, but they have not yet. If they do, I will upgrade my rating. read more

I ordered take out a Large veggie pizza, garlic cheese toast, a taco salad , cheese fingers , chocolate cactus bread ( new!) The staff was friendly and even offered us free drinks while we waited. The prices were really good too. all that for 37 and change. There were only 2 things that were not so great, one they gave me fat free ranch for my salad ( yuck) and they gave me a regular strudel bread instead of chocolate BUT it was REALLY GOOD so maybe I will try the chocolate one . The cheese fingers were ok the garlic toast was good but not very garlicky. The veggie pizza was really good. I have not eaten my taco salad yet ! First time at the Pizza Ranch and happy to report I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food as well as the variety offered. The buffets The Pizza Ranch offers four primary all you can eat buffets. The country buffet has excellent fried chicken, mashed potatoes with gravy, fresh made potato chips, potato wedges, country style green beans and corn alongside buttermilk biscuits with the butter already inside. The chicken is a little oily but the flavor is spot on and super tender and juicy. The sides are delicious and properly seasoned. The pizza buffet offers a huge variety of very creative pizzas: mac n cheese, buffalo ranch, vegetable, meats, Hawaiian, and a number of other creative varieties. Everything is a step up from what you expect to find on a pizza buffet. Even the pepperoni pizza has an incredible seasoning that puts it over the top. A mix of thin crust, pan, and even stuffed crusts are offered with a mix of white and red sauce offerings. They do offer a gluten free option as well. Other buffets are the salad bar, decently stocked with soup options along with a dessert pizza bar with 4 types of dessert pizza; strawberry, blueberry, chocolate and all of our favorite.... the snickerdoodle pizza! Amazing!! The facility is clean and nicely decorated, great for families. The flooring throughout the facility was strangely slick, everyone was sliding. I saw them cleaning it so not sure what was up with that. Bathrooms could have used some attention but nothing that was overly offensive. Bottom line is that my expectation were low going in and I came out very impressed and stuffed to the gills. You can really taste the quality of ingredients all the way down to the soft serve ice cream finish that was smooth, creamy and delicious. I definitely didn't miss those annoying little ice crystals found in the ice cream at every other buffet... you know what I'm talking about. Pizza Ranch is a good place to go if you're really hungry and want to eat a lot for a nice price. They keep their buffet filled, and when I paid on my way in (as all customers have to do), the cashier told me to let the staff know if I wanted a kind of pizza that was not on the buffet. I only had the pizza, but there were other food items on the buffet as well: fried chicken, biscuits, salad, and more. I did try the peach and the apple dessert pizzas with a little soft serve vanilla ice cream, and those were a sweet ending to a good meal. A fountain drink is included with the price of the buffet. Although the pizza was not extraordinary, the message Pizza Ranch projected was. Throughout the restaurant were signs about their vision, "To glorify God by positively impacting the world," the prayer of "Give us this day our daily bread," and the date and time of a Bible study that is held in the restaurant. This is definitely a Christian-owned business. If you like that and want to support it, eat at Pizza Ranch. If you don't, then don't eat there. Super shocked walking in seeing three very small buffet tables: One was only pizzas (there were only three 1/4 pizzas on when we arrived), a table with chicken, potatoes and a few vegetables and a small salad bar. On our way back from STL; decided to drive through Springfield; so my kid can see the Capitol. When the waitress swung by to pick plates; told my son that he can order any pizza and he went with BBQ chicken. Again, another surprise when they brought it to the table and asked how many slices he wanted, before putting it on the buffet. Food: The fried chicken does not get top billing at this place, but I found it better than KFC and many other chains in the IA location I used to frequent and same goes here. Excellent chicken and excellent pizza variety; pretty decent flavor too for a buffet. Ice cream and dessert pizzas top notch for a buffet. Overall: Service and Food: 5 stars!
