We used to love this place and go once a week. We have tried it twice in the last year or so and something has changed. The last time we went even the chicken was lacking. All of the pizza looked like it had been sitting a while. They used to have thin and thicker crust options on the buffet but it is now all super thin (think cracker) crust and doesn't taste good. There policy is also you may only have the kids cup if you pay kids price so my 10 year old had to use a cup with a lid that he can finish in 2 sips.....we won't be back...so sad. read more

My family came to this restaurant today. We were excited as it is one of our favorites. We arrived just after 1. The cashier told us we only had 45 minutes due to the restaurant closing at 2. There were signs that we needed a new cup for refills. We asked our server for a cup but he said we had to get them from the cashier. My son went to counter & waited a long time for someone to come to the counter. The pizza I tried was cold. I watched from my seat & no fresh pizza was brought for over 30 mins. The cook came to our table to ask if we were done or still working on it. I told him we were working on it as 2 of us were still eating. 2 minutes later, the kitchen workers were clearing all the food. I did tell him we weren't done. We love The Pizza Ranch.First off as you come in and pay, they ask t=you if there's any kind of special pizza that you'd like for them to make for you. From there, they have a salad bar, a pizza buffet with about 8 different pizza's (they switch up the types frequently) bread sticks, and dessert pizza (either apple cinnamon, peach, cactus bread, or blueberry) They also have a food buffet with the most delicious broasted chicken, potato logs, green beans, mashed potatoes, and two kinds of gravy. The set up is pretty simple, you seat yourself, get youe own beverage and so on. The employees are really on top of things and keep the dirty dishes cleared and the restaurant is very clean. I'd also like to add that the staff is very friendly and we are always made to feel welcome. read more

All I have to say OMG!!! This place definitely surprised me. When you first hear about this place your thinking okay it's a pizza buffet so it's probably the worst quality pizza your ever going to have. To my surprise the pizza and service was great. As you walk in its set up like a stereotypical buffet, you pay at the booth before you can sit down and eat. As I got up from my seat I see a 3 tables: the first one had salads with toppings and dressings, the second table had the pizza and breadsticks. There was an assortment of good pizzas ranging from Hawaiian, buffalo chicken, taco, etc..., and third table surprised me the most, it had FRIED CHICKEN!!! Not only was it fried chicken but it was delicious fried chicken. The table also had mashed potatoes and gravy, biscuits, BBQ wings, other item. This place hands down is delicious. They also had dessert pizza and a coffee station. The soft serve ice cream was also great quality and not watered down. I forgot to mention you can order any pizza or fried chicken to go but it's going to cost extra. Overall, in my opinion this looks similar to a Cici's Pizza but this local restaurant is worth trying out because the food was great and the customer vice was spot on. read more

Having been to only one other Pizza Ranch before in Wisconsin Dells my expectations for others was apparently too high as the on in Dells was clean, well stocked and staff was courteous. Nice selection of pizza's. Both the Taco and BLT pizza's were very good. Ask for any pizza not out on the buffet, and they make it and bring it to your table. Two chicken dinners to go. One with BBQ sauce, menu says tossed in sauce - reality they give you a container to put on youself. Both dinners missing slaw - response to my call to the restaurant - oh yeah that is my fault, I didn't put them in the bag - no suggestion on how to fix or offer for discount on future order (which will never happen anyway) just a long pause followed by "have a good day". Just spoke to the owner Dan about them running out of food and the staff laughing at me when I complained. He said he didn't have time to listen to me and if I wanted to come in and meet face to face with his staff to "hash" this out we can set up a time. I told him I was not comfortable with that and he said "I should be tentative to do that because I "pissed" people off there. I told him I felt like that was a threat and he said "take it as I want". Obviously he is the problem that trickles down to the rest of the people who work for him. Chicken was on par with grocery store broasted, though saltier. Pizza was not enjoyable. Restaurant was not as clean as I like and staff was VERY slow to the point that a couple of groups starting clearing tables so they had a place to sit. No adult employees were visible during our visit, but as we were leaving owner/manager came out to see what was going on in the dining room. $30+ for two adults and 14 yo. My family loves Pizza Ranch. We live in the Chicago area, so we only get to visit every once in a while. This franchise is one of the nicer locations. When we visit, we normally come when the buffet is open as you can sample more of their pizzas. My favorite is the Chicken Bacon Ranch! The staff is friendly, but at times the wait for pizzas on the buffet can be long. Come hungry, leave satisfied! read more

I have enjoyed eating at pizza ranch, until I witness how the owner treats her employees! I witnessed her screaming at two female employees until they were in tears! I was floored by her being the owner and behaving in such a manor. I simply thought she was just having a bad day. Recently my son was an employee for 2 years, she decided to go above just verbal abuse, and physical contact was made, resulting in minor injury to my son. I am not sure what all the hype is about, especially all these people saying they are from Chicago? Chicago has Lou Malnati's and Gino's East. Pizza Ranch is cheap and ok to take my son to, but the pizza is not much different than a tombstone or jacks, its heat lamp pizza for crying out loud. Very dissatisfied. Waited for someone to greet us. Waited more. Asked a question, waited. Person went to help the drive upwindow while we waited more. Had an issue with the hours and some items not on buffet. Walked out to leave. Decided to go back in to talk to the manager. Talked to manager Eddie. He basically said that's the way it is... Didn't seem to care about our issues. Let us and our $50 leave unhappy. He doesn't get customer service. A little bit of understanding and some empathy would be nice and would have gone along way. My boys love the food, we get chicken fries almost weekly. The cactus bread is a prefect dessert, everyone in the family loves it! Only reason for not 5stars would be when you call sometimes confusing, sometimes it goes straight to voicemail, I have been hung up on, and once sounded like I called a fax number need a better phone system. read more

My family and I frequent this great restaurant. The salad bar is tasty and they have a variety of pizza on their pizza buffet. You can order any pizza you would like to your table (included in the buffet price). Lately they seem to have issues keeping up with the demand and there are pizzas that are really different than the normal. Hence why I haven't given them 5 stars. (I will put this out there: On Fridays and Saturdays, the restaurant's very active. You might have a hard time finding a seat, and might have to stand in the queue for around 10 minutes.) The service is very excellent. I've never encountered a rude employee. One thing I wish could be improved would probably be the food selection. It hasn't really changed much over the years, but the restaurant allows you to order a custom pizza. The cactus bread (cinnamon / sugar glazed dessert pizza) is excellent, so if you haven't been there, I highly recommend you give it a try. Along with the plain cactus bread, you can find cactus bread slices with apples, blueberries, and such. If you're not too much into pizza, you can find biscuits, fried chicken (along with BBQ as well), potato wedges, and much more. We love Pizza Ranch and go every time we go through a town that has one. This one in Roscoe was terrible. Ice cream machine was broken and one oven was down, making food delivery impossibly slow and no ice cream meant a sad daughter. The management did not do anything to compensate for the lack of service and food. It was a huge disappointment. Many things happened tonight that did not impress us as returning customers. For all of us who work in the customer service industry the number one thing we have been taught is empathy towards the customer and that you treat them well regardless of the situation at hand. We came in here to celebrate my nephew's birthday with his free personal size pizza that he earned from his reading program at school. We had 5 adults and 3 kids 6 and under. They had pushed two tables together and scolded my sister for putting them together and it was a fire hazard. Two employers there did this at this establishment. It was a charity event that night for a local church which did an exceptional job taking care of customers throughout our stay there. It was the actual employees and management staff that disappointed us and left us having a bad taste about the establishment as a whole. Many times there were requests for a specific pizza that never came out until well after 40+ mins and no one said anything or told us about this number system for special requests. In the middle of our dinner we were made to separate the tables and split the family up across the aisle. Meanwhile the banquet and overflow areas were closed up and slowly opened up as the evening went on. One of the owners came over and looked at the table situation as the other manager was made to inform us this was not allowed all while she shook her head in disbelief. In the meantime throughout the dinner an employee kept going in and out of a banquet door and giving us dirty looks like we were a nuisance to them and a bother to be there at all. I am sorry but I personally will not take my family here until the owners and management take some customer service training courses in how to handle situations in a professional manner and find workarounds instead of making good paying customers feel like they feel like complete crap and unwanted at an establishment. I am leaving reviews where possible until they change their attitudes and management ways. read more

When Pizza Ranch opened we were thrilled. At first the food and service were wonderful. I am unsure if either management or ownership has changed, but the quality has significantly plummeted. The last 3 times we have patronized the Roscoe, IL location have been nothing short of disappointing. 2 of the times were for the buffet. Once we waited almost 30 minutes for any chicken and the second time we asked for a cheese pizza, a basic traditional cheese pizza as soon as we got there as there were no plain cheese pizza slices for our child on the buffet. After 40 minutes, and asking twice more, a cheese pizza never materialized. This last time we thought we would alleviate the buffet issues and go straight to ordering out. We tried to order a large quantity of chicken for delivery. The girl on the phone admitted she didn't know how to place an order, she says to hold on, doesn't actually put me on hold, and then yells to God knows who to come help her. Girl number 2 begins the order and then hangs up inadvertently on me. I call back, finally place the order and we wait the 30 minutes we were told, as well as 20 more. Ah, but the chicken is good, so we figure it's worth the wait. However, apparently whoever is boxing up our order cannot count and we are 5 pieces short. 5 pieces is kind of a big deal, so I call..and get voice mail? 7 times I called and kept getting voice mail. 7 times over 12 minutes. Finally I get Eddie who says he is the manager. Says yeah he knows the phone has some problems, I just need to leave a message. Seriously? Leaving a message is how you call a restaurant now? I explain the situation to Eddie who tries to look up my order to verify. Then instead of saying something apologetic or try to fix the problem he says he needs to ask his 'chicken guy'. Mr Chicken Guy tells Eddie he remembers counting right. Eddie tells me his 'chicken guy' gave us our order right. Look, I don't have a master degree, maybe Mr Chicken Guy does, but I can tell when I'm missing 5 pieces of chicken! I ask Eddie if he is actually insinuating I'm a liar? Eddie stutters. Seriously? When does customer service depend on Mr. Chicken Man?? Dear owner, please reassess Mr Chicken Man's math skills, Eddies managerial capacity and for the love of God hire folks who are phone capable. We will miss the chicken, but not the headache. Time to find a new restaurant, as we WON'T be going back. Ps. They brought us replacement chicken, 4 pieces. The pizza is good but the Broasted Chicken is horrible. It is always over cooked and never juicy or flavorful. The one thing I know about Broasted Chicken is that it requires to be marinated before cooking. The best Broasted chicken is always when the proper procedures are followed as recommended by the Broaster Company. I know this personally because my Uncle retired from Broaster as the VP. He has always prepared the Broasted Chicken for our family reunion and it is always perfect. Many other restaurants in the Beloit area prepare & serve Original Broasted Chicken correctly. I would advise that the owner of Pizza Ranch in Roscoe contact Broaster Company for training on proper preparation and Broasting. It will make a huge difference in the taste of their chicken and it will not be burned. read more

My family and I love Pizza Ranch but this franchise is the worse run one we've been to. The store says it closes at 10pm but they shut everything down by 8. So you can sit in the store for two hours without any buffet or drink service while they break all the tables down asking if you're going to stay much longer. This is an all you can eat, buffet style restaurant with their own pizza, chicken, mashed potatoes, gravy, vegetabIes with several desserts. I eat here fairly often but it is not near as good as it used to be. This really is nice place but they are going downhill quality wise the last year or so. The dining room is clean. The salad bar is good but they need to step up the lettuce. It is almost all iceberg which has NO nutrition and no flavor. Sometimes the lettuce is extremely dry, slightly shriveled, sometimes ok - it would be good to spray a LITTLE water on it, if needed to wake it up, as many places do. That would be a big improvement. I am not big on pizza but they have a great variety of creative toppings not seen elsewhere and it appears to have improved. The BBQ chicken pizza was tasty but the top of the dough under the topping was very gummy, appearing to be still raw dough. For the past year plus they have been severely overcooking the chicken, their main dish besides pizza. The breading is very dark on the front side and super dark on the back. This severe overcooking reduces the juices inside and changes the color and especially the flavor of the meat inside to where it almost doesn't taste like chicken - not a good thing. Chicken should be cooked enough to have the meat just reach its cooked texture and at the same time not be raw at any knuckles or bones, about 170* or perhaps slightly more to be certain. I can only assume this overcooking came as a overreaction to a complaint as I have seen a certain type of customer become rabid with managers over this. Reducing the quality and taste of the food for every other patron is not the way to solve the problem. This Pizza Ranch has, without a doubt, the best soft serve ice cream I have ever had anywhere, very smooth, creamy and just right. Oh no ! I just ate there tonight and the ice cream has changed; still creamy but now so sweet I did not enjoy it. Why do they have to do that, take one of their best items and ruin it ??? This, of course, makes it even less healthy as we all consume too much sugar and sweeteners without trying. One more thing you need to know. This Roscoe, IL location closes at 8 pm. Don't even think about getting there close to 7 pm. Try 6:45 or before as they severely cut back on the amount of food they bring out and you will have trouble getting what you want for dinner -- especially chicken desserts and some pizza. They may bring out only 10 pieces or so and because the dining room is mostly full BAM, it is gone and you will have to wait and hope for more. I understand they are trying not to waste food but this is ridiculous and it happens all the time. I did this to myself, going at 7 to 7:15 pm several times but now I remember. Asking an employee for more food does not seem to help. I had intended to talk to the lady and her husband who own this store but I have not seen them for a while. This Pizza Ranch location was horrible. First it was about 80-85 degrees in the restaurant. Second the pizzas on the buffet were all old or duplicates. They had two full Chicken Bacon Ranch pizzas and two Buffalo Chicken pizzas. One was old and one was newer. They had one cheese pizza that people were eating and half of an old pepperoni pizza. No breadsticks, and an open spot where another pizza should go. I decided I'd just get some chicken instead, but the chicken was so dry and old that I took one bite and stopped. So, I then decided I'd just get some dessert pizza, BUT, with about an hour and a half left of the buffet, they had already shut down the dessert pizza line. I asked if I could request a cactus bread, and the staff member told they didn't take requests for dessert pizza, but one would be coming and out on the main buffet. So we waited. During the wait they did put out breadsticks and I ate one. After about 20 min we asked again, and they told us they sold out of cactus bread?! I paid $10 and left sweaty and hungry. The Pizza Ranch is a great place, but I'll never set foot in this location again. read more

First I wanna say I love that they play Christian music at this store. We've been to a Pizza Ranch enough times to know we can ask for items we don't see even though we weren't told at time of paying for our meal. So we asked for a couple pcs of the bbq chicken which we love and when my brothers family showed up we asked for a couple more we sat for over 30 minuets when we had to ask about it, that's when the manager told my wife we already had enough chicken! He couldn't even look her in the eye I never felt so unappreciated. It's not like we're fat people just overfilling our plates and wasting food? They weren't even going to tell us they just left us sit there because we were too much trouble to dip a couple more pcs of chicken in some bbq. I wouldn't even give this place a 1 star but I have to choose something. I was once a loyal pizza ranch customer, however, that changed today and I will NEVER eat there again. The place wasn't busy so I took the kids to the buffet to get food. There barely was anything. So my 3 children grabbed what they could of food and my husband and I each took a piece of pizza. The pizza pans were all empty, no chicken, no potatoes. Fine whatever, figured they needed a few minutes to restock. Went back 10 min later, still no food. Now, also no clean plates. People were starting to hover in buffet area (about 20 people) waiting for both food and plates. The place continued to get crowded. Finally after 10 min I went and asked for a manager and it took her 5 minutes to come out. I told her I wanted my money back because we shouldn't have to wait 15 min for food or plates and surely they shouldn't continue to let people in if they can't even feed the ones that are here already. She went in back for 10 min, then returned saying she wasn't giving me a refund because I had been here 20 min and there were dirty plates on the table so we had eaten. I said yes my children were hungry so they did eat a little something but we've been waiting. For 15 for food AND plates. She still refused so I snatched my receipt from her and told her I'd never be back. She said " sure ok". Floors were flithy, tables were not clean, bathroom was disgusting. The food, as always was wonderful. The problem was we got there at 1:50 PM, and they said that because they closed at 2, there wouldn't be any additions to the buffet. The buffet tables were pretty full, so we said no problem. Just after I had finished my first plate and was starting on seconds, a young man came out and asked if we were finished with the buffet tables as they closed at 2 and they wanted to take them down. I didn't understand at first, but let him know that no, we weren't done. Less then 5 minutes later, another young man came out to ask if we were done, I told him no. I went up to get some dessert, and told both of the young men who were standing there how rude I found their behavior. If they didn't want us to stay and enjoy the food available, they should have just said sorry, but we are closing in a few minutes, and we would have just gone elsewhere. But to make guests feel like they need to rush eating, or just pile up things on a plate, so they can get their work done and leave isn't right. I don't know that I'll be back, I was very disappointed in the staffs behavior. read more

We have been to a few locations in Wisc and found the food, service and cleanliness above par for the price. This location in Roscoe IL is awful. Dirty ( chicken bones on the floor of he dining room). Horrible service ( server spilled dirty napkins all over my dad, and a glass of liquid on my sons back as she tries to clear the dirty dishes from the tables). Short staffed for a Friday night. The food was constantly running out, they never offered to even ask if we had a pizza we wanted made like mother locations offer. The pizza they brought out was never labeled so you had no idea what it was or what was in it. The salad bar needed to be replenished all the time and was really unkept. The soup ran out so the kettle just had burnt remains in it. The iced tea machine was broken. And the floors by the kitchen and bathrooms were all coated with water making them really slippery. This location was not what I expected and will never go back to this one again. Hope the others do not follow this ones example. I think I finally figured out where "people of Walmart" eat when in Roscoe IL. read more

Pizza ranch is a buffet style restaurant that is known for two things the pizza and the fried chicken. When I arrived on 3/15/2014 it was approximately 730 pm and I was informed that there would be no dessert pizza available this evening. 5 minutes into my meal a dessert pizza was served to a table that was not eating the buffet. The buffet had the same fried chicken from the time I arrived until I left and this chicken was already cold from my first plate. I only had one plate because my experience was terrible. The buffet also only had pizza ranches thin crust pizza this evening which is equivalent to a jacks frozen pizza. In the 30 minutes I waited for their normal hand tossed pizza I did not see one come out to the buffet. When I left there were 4 pieces of cold fried chicken that had been on the buffet since I arrived since anybody that wanted chicken was obviously waiting for freash chicken which never arrived. Terrible experience. If you want some pizza do not go to pizza ranch the place is dirty and has terrible pizza. If you want chicken pray that you go on a night when they are frying chicken regularly or else b prepared for a terrible experience. Go out to eat anywhere but here read more

This place is a joke. We have been many times and love the chicken. Tonight we ordered a 10 piece chicken ranch pack. It was supposed to include a large mashed potatoes and gravy, as well as 6 biscuits. We picked up our order through the drive through. We checked the order before leaving. The biscuits were missing. We went Back to the drive through window. The man at the window stated that biscuits weren't included. We proceeded to show him the menu on our phone that clearly stated biscuits were included. He said no. We asked to speak to a manager. He stated he was the manager. He said the only thing he could do would be to return the entire order and re-ring it but we would have to pay extra for the biscuits. We refused and made him return the entire thing. He never once apologized or tried to make it right. We will never be back. Worst customer service I've ever received. Also the most ineffective manager I've ever seen!!! read more

I would rate this place -5 stars if I could. The inside of the chicken was dripping with grease and blood and the outside was as hard as a rock. There was also a slimy clear substance surrounding the chicken. we were also given parts of the chicken we didn't even know existed. the mashed potatoes were obviously powdered and tasted cow jizz. the soda was 110% chemicals and the water was extra salty. (ice cubes? moe like salt cubes!) also, WHAT IS CACTUS BREAD!!!???? it legitimately tasted like salty peaches. it was almost like they replaced all the sugar with salt. the coffee tasted like pine cones mixed with grass. it was almost like the parts of the chicken that we weren't served. the pudding looked and tasted so disgusting it was almost like something that came out of me five minutes after eating the chicken. the worst part was probably the Cole slaw, which made my throat actually burn when eating it. it probably burned holes in my stomach. the ice cream tasted like melted plastic and we found a soggy crouton in it. the pizza had zero sauce and dollar store cheese would be better quality than this. also, the cottage cheese tasted more like rotten cheese that they tried to pass off as cottage cheese. if you ever go here you'll die. in fact, I'm probably in the morgue as you're reading this. they're probably sending my ashes to pizza ranch right now to make their mashed potatoes.
