It was pizza, and it was delivered to Point's Taproom late on a Saturday night. I don't remember it…read moregetting delivered because I was halfway through a flight of beverages in the tap room. It wasn't great pizza, but it was pizza, and probably not from a franchise place. Maybe it would be better if I tried it again, but per my companion for the evening who also really likes tavern-styled pizza, "it just didn't hit..." As a tourist, I don't know if there is better pizza available for delivery on a Saturday night in Stevens Point, WI, but I do know that it was what was suggested to us to get from the bar staff; it certainly didn't kill us after eating it, so there's that, and I remember it being tolerable at the very least (when compared to what I get back at home and in the Chicago area)--and probably a bit better than that? Sorry there are no pictures of the pizza itself to go with this review, but here's a photo of the box.

It was served hot, excellent cheese, Sausage and for us just the right amount to tomato sauce and the crust was crispy, not doughy as we like it. The service was excellent and the booth was comfortable. It was very affordable and the very minor issue was the beer selection (for our tastes was limited). We were surprised our favorite Wisconsin beer Spotted Cow wasn't offered. If you're in "Point" stop in for a good affordable pizza.

This is a review of Mickey T's Club 10…read more The original Mickey's was my dad's favorite pizza restaurant and he has lamented its loss many times since they closed. I recently heard about the revival, Mickey T's Club 10, and thought a Mickey's pizza would be a great way to celebrate Father's Day. I was wrong. Before I explain why, I do want to say that the food was excellent -- it was the same Mickey's pizza that I ate while growing up. There were no problems there, and this is why my review is 2-star instead of 1-star. Even though the pizza was good, this was hands down the worst restaurant experience I've ever had in my entire life. It began when we arrived at 6:00, right on time for our reservation. I'd made the reservation a few days earlier because my mom is handicapped and it's hard for her to stand around and wait for a table. I approached the hostess right away, told her my name, and said I had a reservation. However, she said they had no record of my reservation. (If you advertise on your Facebook page that you take reservations, then for the love of god don't screw that up!) The scrambled a bit and we stood around for 5-10 minutes while they pulled a table together for us. This was difficult for my mom because there was nowhere for her to sit down while we waited. We were finally taken to a table but weren't given any menus, nobody took our drink order, there was no silverware, etc. After about 15 minutes, someone finally came over and took our drink order. I asked for menus, but they didn't materialize. Then, a different waitress brought the drinks but no menus. I asked again. After 10 minutes, still no menus. I finally went up to the hostess and asked for them. She was rude and said it was the waitress's fault before handing them to me. It was 35 minutes past our 6:00 reservation time before we were finally able to order, and 90+ minutes before our food finally arrived. OVER AN HOUR AND A HALF. FOR A SINGLE PIZZA. (Yes, a delicious one, but still. Not worth the wait.) During that time, nobody EVER stopped by our table to check on us, refill our drinks, ask how our appetizer was (by some miracle, that arrived within 10-15 minutes of ordering), etc. The ONLY time we had contact with a server was when I either hunted one down or when the guy at the table next to our sent his waitress over after noticing our drinks had been empty for 20 minutes. It wasn't just us having a terrible time. All around us, people were looking around, chasing down servers, and correcting mistakes. (My drink was wrong, too -- I ordered a regular soda and got a diet, but it wasn't worth the hassle of chasing someone down and waiting 10-20 minutes for a replacement so I drank it.) Things I overheard at nearby tables during our excruciatingly long wait: "We ran out of our normal plates. But you can use this salad plate." "Oh, you didn't get a menu?" (apparently it's common not to get menus) "Oh, that's not the right beer? What kind did you order again?" "I'm sorry you've been waiting so long for the check! Your waitress left." (Seriously. That happened.) Meanwhile, as people left, the dirty dishes just stacked up. There was no busboy and disgusting plates just sat on the tables. By the time we left, just before 8:00, more than half of the tables were covered in dirty dishes and soiled napkins. Even at our table, they didn't take away the dirty appetizer plate when they brought the pizza. I ended up setting it on an empty table so we'd have more room. At one point the hostess walked past, and my dad -- who was starving by this point -- got her attention and asked how much longer it would be before the pizza arrived. He noted the insane wait time just for drinks and also said we'd been waiting an hour for food. Her response was rude. I can't remember the exact words but basically, she told him to be patient and it would come when it was ready. She then proceeded to blame the waitress, which was clearly unfair given that (1) we had two different waitresses and (2) these problems were going on all around us, at tables who were being served by different waitresses than we were. I'd like to think this was an "off" night and it's not really that bad. I really WANT this place to succeed because the food is great and the original Mickey's was wonderful. Unfortunately, I think it's more of a systematic failure -- after all, we'd called in our reservation several days earlier and it hadn't been recorded. It seemed clear that there weren't just a few glitches happening; it was a mess from top to bottom. I didn't expect this based on the Facebook reviews. (There weren't any on Yelp.) There were a few mentions of "slow service," but nothing that prepared us for the horrendous experience we had. This comedy of errors was inexcusable, and we won't be back even though the pizza is just as good as we remember.

After confirming with the waitress that the pizzas were the same as the original Mickey's, I was shocked with the pizzas that they brought out. Upon first appearance they looked nothing like the original Mickey's pizzas. Toppings: Original Mickey's had pepperoni and toppings beneath the cheese. This pizza had the toppings all wrong which lead to a greasy layer floating on top of the cheese. This pizza also tasted like someone felt compelled to pile a bunch of salt on top of it. This is a critical mistake. Crust: The old Mickey's had a buttery, flaky crust with flour on the bottom of it. It looked like the crust may have been a similar recipe, but whoever cooked the pizza burnt the bottom. I'm writing this review 30 min later and my girlfriend and I can't get the burnt taste out of our mouth. This is a critical mistake. Sauce: I was unable to tell if this was the original sauce because all I could taste was the burnt crust. Summary: The old Mickey's pizza was the best pizza in the area for the first 20 years of my life. **This is not that pizza.** The fact that somebody decided to change the pizza making process is criminal. Mickey himself would be rolling around in his grave if he knew what someone did to the original recipes. I hope the original recipes are still out there somewhere. Tom if you are reading this, I am begging you to come back to train these people in the kitchen.
