No response. Poled my head around corner and was to "get back up front to the counter, nobody is allowed back here." I respond, "there is nobody at the counter." Do you enjoy receiving your pizza late and cold? Do you enjoy minimalist brown iceberg lettuce salads with cucumber, black olives and tomatoes that look like they were cut with a dull box cutter? Then Pizza Palazzo is for you! I've had California, New York, and Chicago pizza, and now I've had the World's Worst Pizza! Seriously. I've NEVER had such a bad pizza experience. Who wants more dried out crust than sauce, cheese and toppings??? The ratios were so OFF it's laughable. Instead of wasting your money on less than subpar pizza delivery from PP, you would be better off ordering from InstaCart and have them deliver a Freschetta, DiGiorgno, Against All Grain, ANY frozen pizza and a bagged salad and you will have a MUCH BETTER experience and pay so much less! Wish we would have done that instead but sadly, I didn't think of it! If we weren't so hungry, I would have taken it back to them and demanded a refund. The first time we came here, it was outstanding...FIVE stars!!! The second time, they totally messed up our order...they made it right, but it was delayed. The third (and final) time, it was just not that good. If they could maintain even a little bit of consistency, I would rate it higher, but I just don't know what I am going to get. We were in Las Cruces to drop off our son, Ives, for his freshman year at NMSU. It was super hot and we had just finished moving him into his dorm room. Hunger consumed everyone, so my wife and I decided to buy "linner" for him and his roommate Hunter. I noticed the highest rated pizza joint in Las Cruces was Pizza Palazzo, so we drove there. It took about 30 minutes from the University. As soon as we walked in, my wife wanted to leave. There were quite a few flies flying around inside. I will warn you, this isn't a sit down restaurant, it's a take out/delivery place. They only had one long table inside, and we convinced her to stay. The red haired, bearded man who rang us up was friendly and enthusiastic. I ordered a 14" Palazzo Supreme Deep dish pie for $17.99 and 24 wings in three flavors for $22.49. We got 8 mild, 8 garlic parmesan, and 8 lemon pepper. The bearded man started making the pizza immediately, but left the restaurant after 10 minutes with a delivery. After another 10 minutes, a lady delivered four containers of ranch dressing, the wings and our pizza. My wife found a red hair atop our pizza and I quickly told our hostess. I took a picture of the first and second pizzas (attached). She apologized profusely and offered to remake the pizza with any additional toppings of our choice for free. I ordered the pan supreme again with additional bacon, beef, green chile, and minced garlic. I call this the "ultra" supreme in my picture. We ate the wings as we waited and the boys and I liked the lemon pepper best, but my wife's favorite was the garlic parmesan. A man came to our table and asked if we'd like more wings for free. He suggested a combination of the mild mixed with lemon pepper. We agreed and he brought out 8 more wings and this combination totally hit the spot. Their wings are good and if you order wings get the mild/lemon pepper combo. When the "ultra" supreme came out, Hunter had already tapped out from the wings. Ives and I ate the most, with me beating him by 2 slices. My wife stopped after one, probably still thinking about that hair. While I was eating, a lizard ran under my chair! I saw his tail disappearing and then looked down but he was gone. Later, I spotted him by the door and I freed him. To be fair, the second pizza had a crispy, buttery crust, awesome fresh ingredients and it tasted delicious. Palazzo's did everything possible to rectify the situation and I applaud them for that. The pizza and wings were above average, but the hygiene/cleanliness of the place could be improved. If you order their pizza, make sure it is takeout or delivery. read more

Probably the worst pizza I've had in years. We ordered the vegetarian pizza without cheese (we add our own vegan cheese at home). It had a sprinkling of chopped black olives a sprinkle of chopped onions and what appeared to be one mushroom sliced. (Note -sprinkle translates as very sparse!). Very nice folks...However, the pizza...Not so much. My fault, I lived in Chicago for 25 years. The sausage tasted really, really bad! Awful. The sauce was absolutely disgusting. Canned is actually better. The dough and the cheese were substandard as well. You can't talk Chicago style when you're not from there and when you have obviously never even eaten the pizza there. Friendly on the phone. Fast preparation. Gracious at the pickup counter. Delicious local pizza at a great price. I'm looking forward to trying more of their offerings. Soft buttery crust, crispy on the outside, fluffy dough on the inside. We had a extra large supreme, a good mix of toppings and not skimpy on the cheese. Pleasantly greasy, but not so you had to blot the top before eating (a sign that the ingredients are good quality). Definitely tasted as good as it smelled, and our family will be back for more after this first try. I give it four stars only because it is my only experience, and I'll leave room for that fifth star in a future review. I ordered their "Windy City" colossal pizza. It's their version of a Chicago-style deep dish. I wasn't expecting Lou Malnati's or Giordano's quality but I was at least expecting something in the vicinity. It was literally the least amount of cheese I have ever seen on a pizza, regardless of style. The cheese is supposed to be on the bottom, under the sauce, but when I pulled a slice, there was nothing but sauce. The toppings were scarce, but there. Over all I feel slightly disappointed I was craving a good pizza not a "fast" pizza like Dominos or Papa Johns, the pizza is slightly above average. I ordered the NM Deluxe and it was what I expected, for me nothing particularly stood out, the crust was very good and the pizza had plenty of cheese and sauce. But the flavor was nothing to really write home about, I have had far better pizza and thought Pizza Palazzo was going to be in a higher tier. It was similar to a typical pizza you could get anywhere else just maybe ever so slightly better. Definitely beats Dions or any of the other places, but not sure if it's worth the price and a little out of the way. Staff was very friendly and overall I am satisfied with my food. This was not the best pizza (or even close to it) that I've ever had. The crust is rather Pizza Hut-like in quality and taste and consistency. But the pizza itself was pretty tasty--no complaints, seriously. What earns Pizza Palazzo the excellent rating from me, though, is the warm, friendly, happy service that we got from the proprietor. Wonderful pizza; wonderful service. I checked into my hotel late on a Sunday and found Pizza Palazzo from an online search. I arrived at the takeout and delivery storefront shop shortly before closing and was warmly welcomed by the staff. They displayed great knowledge of different pizza styles as they patiently explained their menu and answered my questions, even showing me pictures on a phone. I went with a Deep Dish Supreme which would take about 25 minutes (and past their closing time). The gentleman kindly suggested that I wait in my car and he would bring it out to me - how convenient! When I got back to the hotel and opened the box, what a pleasant surprise! The crust around the edges was a beautiful golden brown and was somehow soft and chewy and crispy all at the same time - delightful! The toppings, cheese and sauce were delicious and in the perfect quantity for a deep dish. This was some of the best pizza I've had in a very long time. Looking forward to trying more of their menu the next time I'm in Las Cruces! :) read more
