    Large, extra cheese pie
    Rashaunna R.

Great neighborhood spot with really good pizza! I always order Large or Extra Large, extra cheese, cooked light pies (big family) and they are always fresh, saucy and cheesy....everything you want in a pizza! I have noticed the individual slices that customers get while I'm waiting for my order, and they tend to look like they've been sitting for a while and are more on the "well-done" side without you requesting it - so just keep that in mind. If possible, order a whole pie, that's guaranteed to be fresh and cooked to order. The other pitfall is that they do not deliver - anywhere. So if you're in the mood for pizza and feeling lazy, it can be a hassle - this is my reason for 4 instead of 5 stars. But, if you're feeling like heading outside or already out, they have really good pizza pies, so you should stop in!

That's what I'm taking about a slice so big it need to be placed on a tray instead of a plate!

I've been going to this pizzeria since I was in high school, I used to play hooky from high school and would come and have a delicious low-cost slice of Frank's pizza. Every time I visit the Bronx I always make it a point to stop and have a slice of pizza before I go. My last visit to New York Frank was not there making the pizzas so I have to say The sauce was lacking in flavor. But this time I was pleased to see Frank in the kitchen making pizza, needless to say my giant slice of pizza had the right amount to delicious sauce, the right amount of cheese and the crust was the perfect consistency. The pizzas are so large they can feed two people and they range in the price of $3 .75-$4. If you ever feel broke but have at least five dollars to your name and you're hungry as hell go to pizza Italia the original.

If I could give 0 starts I would. The pizza is great tho. The owner sucks ! Every time my mom and I have met the owner even separately he was always a dick. Super sarcastic and asshole like. So when we order our pizzas we always ask for extra crispy, cut into pieces because it's a huge pizza and in a box since we always get more than 1 slice with mad garlic knots, because it usually gets all squishy and messy in the bag and the grease goes everywhere. It's NEVER EVER been an issue. And the workers know this so we don't ever have to ask them. This is the first time we ever went this early so the owner was there and when she asked for it cut and in a box he flipped out and said she was asking for too much, started talking about her blonde hair, called her an Irish bitch, said he's going to punch her and to get her husband. All she wanted was it in a box like we always get. Literally this man is crazy and my mom kept her cool the whole time he was insulting her. She literally just stated she wanted a box and explained why and he was not having it ! Let me add the 2 workers are super nice. It's the owner that's the issue. This place will not get 1 penny out of my pocket ever again. I refuse to put money into that mans pocket

    Frank and his XL pizza

Franks Pizza Italia was so good, we came back 2 days later to get more before we left New York. The pizza is huge and the slices take two hands to eat! The $4 price per slice is well worth it since it is twice the size of most pizza joints in NY charging $3 for a much smaller and inferior slice! Frank and his staff are pleasant and even entertaining! He likes to joke around and is full of interesting stories. We would definitely come back when in the Bronx. If we could give it more than 5 stars we would! Our only comment is they need to find a way to ship the pizza to other states or bring that delicious awesomeness down south to Florida where they don't know how to make a real NY Pizza!

Bronx Pizza, this is how we call it, for 10 years this is the spot were we stop ... every time we go to NY and every time we come back from NY. It's a whole in the wall, but their slices are GIANTONORMOUS, and for a small price. We introduced people from all over the world to this spot, and whenever you mention to them Bronx Pizza, you can bet they will smile at you, cause they know what your talking about.

If you think pizza is pizza is pizza, nothing could be less true here. Fresh, high quality ingredients used intelligently male the pizza here a cut above: crispy, heat-retaining, richly topped with fresh tomato sauce and high quality mozzarella on the crispy crust make this a very satisfying experience. Sure a slice is $3.25, also high, but a slice here is really a great bargain since it is easily as large as two slices from your more typical pizza joint. The menu here is small, giving better quality control to the pizza makers and they take advantage of the opportunity. There are only three sandwiches available, no pasta, no fish, nothing really to distract from what they do best -- make great pizza.

The Vibe: Old School & Authentic This place is as "old school" as it gets. It's located in the basement of a house, and walking in feels like stepping back into 1959. There are no fancy decorations or "artisanal" gimmicks--just the smell of fresh dough and a gas oven that's probably seen more history than most museums. * Pro Tip: It is CASH ONLY. Don't be that person who gets to the counter with a card; come prepared. The Pizza: The Best in the Bronx I've had a lot of pizza, but this is easily the best in the borough. * The Crust: Paper-thin, perfectly salty, and has that signature "Bronx fold" with just the right amount of char on the bottom. * The Sausage: This is their claim to fame. They use huge, fresh chunks of sausage that are packed with flavor. It's heavy, it's greasy in the best way possible, and it's legendary. * The Sauce/Cheese: The ratio is perfection. The sauce is tangy and bright, and the mozzarella is creamy and never "rubbery." The Service The staff here are exactly what you want in a legendary neighborhood spot--friendly, fast, and no-nonsense. They keep the line moving, but they treat you like a regular even if it's your first time. Verdict: 10/10. It's simple, it's classic, and it's the king of the Bronx. If you haven't been, you're doing NYC wrong.
