This is my go-to "dollar" pizza spot in Manhattan. Their slices are super fresh, crispy and not greasy at all! I even prefer the pizza here to some of the more famous spots around the city. I know a lot of other reviews mention that their slices don't cost a dollar anymore but I think you're still getting a great deal for high quality NY-style pizza! FYI they are cash-only. read more

I've had the rare request to inform the public on whether this is worth it or not. Lol. Anyway, I've come here a good handful of times. I just could not for the love of me find the name of the business on Yelp and always assumed that it was called $1 pizza store. They like many other dollar pizza businesses are now $1.50 pizza store. They have a large variety of other pizzas when coming in for a somewhat more affordable than other places. I will say, I don't mind them. It's very crispy pizza if that's your jam. Like this can get very divided into what your type is. My boyfriend argues that this is better than 2 bros and I think the opposite. I think he likes the crispness of the dough. I think it needs more sauce, more cheese, a bit more bounce for me to really push it to 4 stars. Is it good when you're ravenous? Yes. I think the key also here is if you're not getting a cheese slice, opt for whatever is looking freshest because some of them have been sitting out for awhile and dry chicken is no bueno. On that note, I will probably a hundred percent be back because it's convenient, cheap, and not bad. read more

PROS: Keeping in mind this is a dollar pizza shop. Not a legit restaurant nor high end Italian place. Compared to other dollar pizza places this is one of my favorites. Always promoting deals like $3 for can and 2 plain slices or $8 for a large pie (in the city thats really cheap). The people are also nice there and unlike other dollar pizza places they take cards. On top of all that the Pizza here actually tastes great! CONS: The place is cramped and the scenery looks like it's 30 years old. There's not that many places to sit and there's no bathroom for any of the eat in customers. OVERALL: For a quick bite to eat when you'll grab that to go and not worry about the scenery or sitting and eating this is the place to visit. Go and check it out! read more

PRETTY DARN GOOD! Been craving $1 pizza that was juicy and cheesy! Came upon this spot and was in heaven. They have regular cheese pizzas for $1 each and for toppings its 50 cents extra which was pretty darn good. I got the pepperoni pizza for $1.50, it was not dried, well sauced and enough cheese and crispy just the way i like it. I was surprised that i just paid 1.50 for this, felt like it should of been $4 at least. Very pleased! Def drop by and get you some sauced up cheesy pizza for $1. read more

Well, after having a slice here last night around 3am it wasn't really the best, but it hit the spot and satisfied my pizza craving after a night of drinking with friends. Typical thin slice, ok crust, could have used more sauce. What the heck, it's a dollar a slice. At 3am most dollar pizza tastes pretty damn good. I quite like Pizza Gaga - right next to the 1/2 stop at 23rd street, it is a quick place to grab a bite. There are a couple other pizza joints in the area but this is by far the best one. The cheese and tomato are in good proportion and i love their mushroom slices. in fact, i usually judge people by the mushroom slices, and they do well on it - lots of mushrooms, not cheap about it.. leaving you would a good feeling. open till midnight most nights which is great - i only wish it was open longer on fridays/saturdays so i could stumble in for evening snacks.. read more

We have been playing pizza roulette for months now and are still playing it. I decided to try this place because of my fondness for Lady Gaga. The prices are less than most other pizza places. $14 for a large , 8 slice pie with cheese and sauce. Add-ons are $2-3 extra. We ordered a pie with half pepperoni and half plain. The pie arrived in about 20 minutes and resembled the pizzas we used to get in Greenpoint, Brooklyn years ago. Lots of flavor and a narrow peripheral crust. Enough cheese and pepperoni to ruin your figure and satisfy your pizza lust. The place is nothing to look at but, for the price it is a good buy. I was walking by after working in this area, it was late and I was starving so I popped in and grabbed a slice of what has to be one of the best pizzas I have ever had. I don't think Lady Gaga owns Pizza Gaga, but the instant association and resultant curiosity is about the only reason I can think of to name it thus. (Alternatively, the owner is living under a rock and has just picked a very unfortunate time to finally open a business and break out the name s/he always wanted.) I'll admit the name provided an initial source of curiosity, although wandering around Chelsea and noticing that their pizza slices looked better than a bunch of the surrounding options ultimately led me to make a purchase. Once entering though, it's just a standard pizzeria with a $5 credit card minimum, nothing particularly of note in decor or dress code or cleanliness level or overabundance or lack of fellow patrons. I'm still not sure I appreciate the association of the oddly named "grandma" ($3.50) slice, a Sicilian-style margherita variant replete with basil, but given the namesake, I suppose I shouldn't be surprised by offbeat monikers. The slice itself was a bit too browned and tasted of ever-so-slightly burnt dough but besides that passed as a sufficient mid-evening snack. At the relatively high price point, I'd try another option within walking distance before I'd cycle back to granting Pizza Gaga another spin... er, listen... er, shot. read more

So I'm not sure how this pizza is "fresh", but I'm reviewing the za I got delivered. It took an 1 hour, 25 minutes to arrive, and was rubbery and cold when I finally got it. Called twice, guy on the phone was really rude. told me it was on its way for 45 minutes. This pizza was not worth it....I had to re-cook it in the oven, and was still just so-so. It was filled with huge crust bubbles. Just not a quality NY pizza. horrible customer service. Yes, I said it. Just like the other $1 slice restaurants taht have proliferated in the past couple of years, this is convenient, has relatively short lines and is pretty bare with its decorations. However, Pizza Gaga does offer a wider variety of specialty slices and other foods besides pizza! So if you're not hungry for pizza (though, that defeats the purpose of walking in to a pizzera) you have a multiude of options. My specific draw to this place is that the pizza has a little spice to it. I dunno what they season the dough or sauce with, but it. is. good. Can't wait for the next morning I get to stop by. There is seating for up to about 10-15 people, thought 15 will be a little tight. It is nice and bright inside. I am unaware of their health inspection rating. This spot offers amazing value. The business runs on through-put or volume of business -- it's super busy at rush times, and you can usually get a slice that's hot from the oven. It's also the one of the fastest slices I've experienced in New York, and almost everything is a dollar, keeping it simple. Ordered through Seamless from them and waited for over an hour. After calling them, the manager claimed that they had attempted to deliver my order and even knocked on my door. I didn't hear a thing all night and requested to either 1.) re-deliver my order or 2.) cancel the order and refund me my money. They refused to do either stating that it was my fault for not answering my door and that my food had already been tossed out. Did we just find the Holy Grail of NYC pizza? I'm not 100% sure, but I am 100% sure that I still found their slices quite delicious... Especially for a price you can't beat. May be a small spot, but they have a pretty wide variety of pizza. I ordered a spinach, while my friend ordered a chicken. Unfortunately, they didn't fall under the $1 slices, which was kind of misleading, but they were still delightful. I've lived all around the US, and I end up in Manhattan frequently for business. Understand when I make this statement, I'm not just being a judgemental New Yorker who takes pride in the special ways New York does pizza... The crust of these pizzas are disgusting. The crusts have a strange after taste that smells like something "old". Shoes, cigars, newspapers... something. No matter your pleasant memories with any of them, these are sad... because they're in your mouth when you first realize they're around. For some reason, this pizza reminded me of a cheap yoga mat. The bottom has obvious lines as if it were rolled onto a slatted tray, it's texture is soft and mushy, and it doesn't taste all that great. The garlic knots were disappointing. If you went to any grocery store in the US outside of NYC, you could find a pack of dinner roles with the same quality. The sauces that came with the garlic knots were about the thickness of my thumb, and about one joint deep. They offer enough sauce for a single knot in an order of 4. If I'm getting grocery store bread, at least give me butter, powdered garlic, or enough marinera to chase away the shame. But no. Pizza Gaga finds the best things about pizza, and tries hard to avoid them. The only thing positive I can say about this palace is that they have online ordering and delivery from delivery.com. But don't bother. They don't actually put the toppings you ordered on your pizza. read more

The guy behind the counter (who seemed new) asked me if I meant spinach, and I said no. Then I pointed to the one I wanted. Turns out the veggie slice was more expensive than the spinach one, and then that guy got yelled at by his boss for under-charging me. But they didn't ask for more money. So... I'm ambivalent. Delicious pizza, good prices and friendly service. After a bad attempt at eating at a Pizza place nearby we opted to try $1 Pizza instead. We were very pleasantly pleased with our decision. We had slices of pepperoni and pineapple, BBQ chicken and buffalo chicken pizza. All of them were great. The pepperoni and pineapple was my favorite. I rarely find that combo and it's my absolute favorite. There was a good amount of traffic coming and going and no one had to wait long. Good option if you want a quick slice. They have a deal where you get two slices of cheese and a can soda or water for $2.95. Can't beat that! read more

Okay, this might just be because I picked the worst possible slice from a $1 pizza joint. Broccoli. Blecch. When I ordered, the guy gave it to me cold. Never have I gotten a pizza slice in NY that didn't get a pop in the oven. There was a microscopic amount of sauce and the cheese was overly rubbery. The broccoli had an undercooked, almost raw texture. I expected the cramped seating and the questionable patrons, but I've had better dollar slices (that actually HEATED your slice). I've had better frozen pizza. I also threw up later. The pizza taste haunted me even then. I don't think I'll go back. The pizza was really 1 star quality, but I added another star because most people ordered the plain and pepperoni slices. Which are probably tastier and fresher than the broccoli slice.
