Smorl's Houmous Falafel & Salad Bar - A nicer view of the small salad box

But never…read morefear because Smorl's now have their very own salad bar located at Unit 30, The Open Market, Marshalls Row, Brighton, BN1 4JU, which is open 7 days a week! In my very humble opinion Smorl's make the very best falafel in Brighton & Hove. The falafel are freshly cooked, delicious, crispy chickpea balls of delight, dotted with zingy coriander seeds and other tasty herbs and spices. You can get them on their own, served in a pita bread with your choice of Houmous and other dips, or you can opt for the lunchbox, which is my recommendation. With the lunchbox you get falafel, bulgar wheat salad, slaw, salad leaves, houmous, tatziki, babaganoosh, tahini, toasted seeds', Parmesan polenta balls and other delicious dips. It is absolutely delicious - so much so that I've been back for lunch every week since I discovered Smorl's. That's how good they are. Highly recommended.

The extra thing turned out to be my favourite although I didn't fancy peas. Every bite was so tasty and different from each other. You can tell they use good ingredients. Not greasy at all, with lots of zingy taste. I highly recommend as I wasn't into it and ended up a fan! Must be good then.

The lady that owns the business and who is responsible for making all of the food is extremely talented, friendly and down to earth. The food is exceptional, I've eaten here several times and its always consistently good too. What I also love is that even though its raw/clean eating food which is supposed to be the latest trend at the moment, where most places are cashing in, Eat Naked keep their prices reasonable. Its not a fad for them they really do live and breath it as a lifestyle. Their ethos is healthy should be affordable and not boring! They change their menu daily which is to be admired and you can see the menu online on their instagram account. Their clean treats are what dreams are made of. I regularly crave and dream about their snickers bar when I'm in London and count down the days until I can come here again to get one when I'm in Brighton. ITS THAT GOOD! They also do juice cleanses that you can pick up or I believe they can post out too. I can't say one negative thing about this place, its quite small so maybe more of a takeaway place but they still have some seating inside if you want to chill and have a coffee. I've currently sprained my ankle and can't walk, but I just can't go a day without some Eat Naked goodness so I've managed to track down a courier to collect it and bring it to me in my flat. That's how much I love this place! All I need now is for them to clone the store and drop it in London please so that I can visit every day!

They had about 10 salads to choose from, most of which were vegan, and a bunch of mains, two of which were vegan. For the main, I got a decadent butter bean dish that was wonderfully flavoured, albeit quite oily. The salads were all quite intensely flavoured too, with a broccoli salad that had a nicely horseradish-dominant dressing, a tomato and bell pepper salad that was nicely dressed, and roasted sweet potatoes. Very filling and good value. I was really happy with the food. I capped off the meal with an American (£2.40), which was definitely above average for UK -- seems like the place is run by Italians, so that might be it. Super friendly and helpful staff who kindly pointed out everything that was vegan. All in all, highly recommended spot near the centre and beach.

Today's hot menu offerings were vegetable soup, beef goulash, vege moussaka and Caribbean chicken drumsticks with mash or rice. And then a gorgeous array of 7 fresh salads to compliment your meal. Fresh, fast and tasty! This quiet and cosy restaurant had super lovely staff, and the food was just fantastic. Great little spot for lunch on North Street.

We got there quite early, around 6pm, and first thing you notice are stools all along the fire spit to watch your chicken cook. If you prefer a less entertaining view, there are tables on the back side of the restaurant. Sometimes it is best to have a simple menu. Chicken, a few sides, dessert and drinks. For 2 people, a whole chicken is just about right. They offer you two sauces, hot and some smokey sauce and to be honest the chicken is so well seasoned I didn't really need any of the sauces. It was really damn good chicken. We ordered a side of fries to share - they were quite good when they're hot. There were a lot of small pieces towards the end you don't even bother with. They were okay. As we were sitting at the bar, I saw them prepare the apple pie and luckily I had room for dessert. They brought us nearly a quarter slice of the pie with two scoops of ice cream! It was really, really good.. could've made it a meal in itself.

So today when we were considering where to eat for lunch we decided to finally try it out. BEST DECISION. My boyfriend and I shared a half chicken, along with the butter lettuce and avocado salad, corn on the cob, and a slice of apple pie. All the food was incredible!! Both of us had plenty to eat and weren't so full we felt sick. As if the food wasn't enough to convince us to want to come back again, the atmosphere was great. The decor is rustic and simple. The kitchen is open and surrounded by a bar where you can watch the chefs work (we opted to sit there and observe...it was mesmerizing). If you are a larger party there are bigger tables in the back too. And their staff were so friendly and conversational. Will definitely be going back!

Everything we tried was fresh and tasty and there were some really unusually fillings - lots of fancy deli stuff to choose from. Most of the salads come in under a fiver which is a bargain as the portions are huge. I might have to load mine up with a pasta of potato base, but if you're watching what you eat this is a great snacky option. And of course, if you pop down there in the next two weeks, you'll get to try out Qyper Mseasons' salad - she won the salad making competition and her salad will be on sale for everyone to try! Well worth popping into, even if it's not the first place you'd think of for lunch.

This has mainly delighted me due to trying several local salad chains to my office and missing my daily chop'd. Anyone wondering what this elusive chop'd is of which I speak? It's in essence a salad fast food chain which serves up salads made to order as you go along choosing the delights you want in your salad. Today I had lettuce, pasta, red onion, tomato, sweetcorn and ham, with a fat free dressing called sesame soy. It was delicious, as I knew it would be, because Chop'd is consistently good quality ingredients. They aren't stingy on the contents either, mine was fully loaded with all the good stuff. This chop'd branch is smaller than most, but the queue was comparitvely small (the one in spitalfields used to be about 50 deep sometimes). They have most ingredients that the big stores have, and the staff are nice. Thank god. Salad harassment via Yelp over now I've found my BFF Chop'd again.
