This is a very nice vegetarian cafe on Kensington Gardens. The decor is homely and there are also some tables outside. Being a pedestrian road, this is especially nice in the summer months. The food is pretty wide ranging and cooked on the premises daily. Expect items like lasagna, tagine and other hearty bites. Aside from ordering your main, you get to choose from a good selection of side dishes and the staff are happy to let you pile up your plate. Again, all this is made on the premises and they regularly replenish the bowls with fresh batches. Expect to pay about £5 for a meal, which is extremely reasonable. They also offer your expected range of coffee's, speciality teas and home made smoothies. Even if you are not hungry, it's worth stopping by for a beverage, just because the place has such a nice atmosphere. You really should give this place a go even if you are not a vegetarian. Top food, drinks and service should never be passed up!

Great great restaurant! I love the idea of picking freshly made items (kinda like a better & vegetarian version of Lemonade in California). For a standard plate, you get to pick 1 main dish, 2 sides and 2 "toppings". I got veggie lasagna, mash potatos, spring asian salad, hummus, and roasted nuts. Everything tasted great (although I'd prefer it to have slightly more salt in the mash potato, I know I'm eating something healthy).

Iydea is located in the heart of the North Laines and is the perfect place to enjoy the hussle and bussle of Brighton. I became a regular in this restaurant during my uni years as it was the perfect excuse for me and my housemates to escape work! The restaurant serves fresh, hearty vegetarian food which is reasonably priced and never disappoints. Meat eaters please don't be put off by the fact it is a vegetarian restaurant! This is no ordinary vegetarian! I have taken many of my macho meat eater friends to lunch here and they have been converted by the delicious flavours on offer. The food is set up in a canteen style which means you are served immediately and there is no waiting around. Choose from a selection of healthy main dishes such as Sweet Potato Curry, Filo Pies, Chic Pea Stews, Lentil Soups, all accompanied with a heaped side of vegetables, salads and a range of toppings such as home-made houmous. I am still working my way through the array of toppings, the possibilities are endless! The drinks board does not disappoint either with home-made cloudy lemonade, Iced Teas and fresh Juices. They even offer a take-away service so you can enjoy these delicious delights on the move. This is a favourite restaurant of mine with consistently good food that fills you up but you can leave feeling guilt free as it's really healthy!

Visited here many times in the past and it never disappoints , it's always busy and it's hardly surprising because the food is packed with flavour and bursting with colour.

Impressive spot. Delicious vegetarian food at ridicolous price, it's definitely the best I have ever had in Brighton. Can't be missed

I come for breakfast at least once a week. The food is always delicious. My favorite dish is the simple eggs on toast, but my friends order the avocado on toast, breakfast muffins, and the various other delicious dishes. Portion sizes are large, perfect for brunch. The smoothies and juices are so fresh, you can see them cutting the fruits and veggies as they go. Coffee and tea here is fantastic as well, but it's hard to pass up the fresh fruit smoothies.

Set in an old Courthouse dating back to 1869 (hence the name), the building still retains all it's original features and is apparently home to a few convict ghosts still roaming the alls. The Kray Twins were even on trial here once so I won't be going here on a dark night. Yet surprisingly Jamyang has a relaxing air of calm about it and is a little southern haven. Besides the cafe the centre also offers a varied programme of events, from meditation classes to Tai Chi, Yoga and a series of talks on Buddhism, which are worth checking out. The cafe, although housed in the centre is a separate entity and Buddhists and non-Buddhists alike are welcome. They serve wholesome and completely scrumptious vegetarian food daily, using fresh, often locally sourced and in-season produce. Fare such as Leek and Potato Pie, Blood Orange and Leaf Salad and Lavender cake is currently to be found on the menu. The fresh, homemade bread is out of this world and couldn't be further from the quick-rise stuff we are all subject to in the supermarket these days. A wonderful garden area to the side, studded with flowers and plants, complements their farmhouse style food. Real wholesome food, made by really wholesome people. What an absolute find.

We were both hungry and hadn't fancied any of the places at the nearby Elephant and Castle centre. We were greeted by a very pleasant lady who talked us through the various options available. We had never experienced vegetarian food before, but being ready to try anything we went for the fantastic looking quiche and a selection of salads, all of which were new to us. We followed up with some delicious pear cake. We were made to feel most welcome, and the whole place has a very relaxing and tranquil feel to it.
