I called 15 times before someone answered...I was immediately put on hold...There was so much noise in background...I had to yell into the phone to put my order in...He asked me to repeat my address three times...We ordered two calzones...We had to call back three different times to see where our order was...Person on the other line had the nerve to argue with me after telling me each time that our order was on it's way...He quickly switches me to management...Who very rudely tells me the order is on it's way...My house is less than five minutes away from the restaurant...Our two calzones took well over 2 hours to be delivered...Similar situation happened a month ago...Probably be another five years before I order from here again...Wasn't for drunk college kids probably wouldn't be in business!!! read more

Spent a portion of my youth in NJ so I know what good pizza is and Bono is it. Lots of other good things on the menu too. Late night, after the bars close, this place is mobbed with PSU students wanting a slice with "Cold Cheese" - yep, a nice slice of hot pizza topped with a generous hand full of cold mozzarella. Highly recommend trying the BBQ chicken pizza by the slice. Have drinks, beer, red bull, and slushies. read more

Cheap good Pizza. The store itself is a bit rough, and crazy on weekend nights (they are open late for the college drinkers). Expect to see obnoxious college kids and a line out the door any night after 10pm. But the pizza is good, very well priced and they do a cold cheese pizza with fresh shredded mozzarella. By the slice is the way to go, with a side of ranch or blue cheese for dipping. Not the best sit down unless you are going at an odd hour- but good NY style pizza, especially for a little town like Plattsburgh They also only take cash, but they have an ATM in store. read more

Cool guys, but let's be real... There isn't much good pizza to be had in Plattsburgh. This place is great in terms of strategic location and open late night to accommodate Plattsvegas at night and last call. The food is mediocre at best during these hours. The characters around those hours is quite interesting. It just does the job. I'd much rather spend my money at Del's on a sandwich. Perhaps Bono is better during the daytime? I will give it a shot. Went to Pizza Bono with a couple of newly-friended locals after a great day of celebrating the wedding of mutual friends. Being a native New Yorker who's been transplanted to DC, any NY pizza will be amazing in comparison to what I've gotten used to. Pizza Bono's takes it a step further, throwing the handful of cold, shredded mozzarella on top of the hot slice. Great for an after-party meal - just be sure to take a Tums before bed! Definitely suggest making Pizza Bono a stop during your trip to Plattsburgh. They're open late, so it's never too late to stop by. read more

Called in an order around 1:15AM this morning, and ordered a cheese pizza and a drink. Its been almost an hour and 20 minutes since then, so I called and I was told this entire time they were "waiting on a driver" You give them your number during the call, did anyone think "Hmm, maybe we should call them and let them know its going to be a bit late"? Looks like a little hole in the wall, typical pizza joint that probably buys frozen dough... NOPE - instead you've got an authentic, REAL, slice of pizza. Top it off with the cold cheese - which was a new experience to me and totally makes my mouth water thinking about it while I write this review. The owner came out and I asked him - tell me about your sauce "you need good tomatoes for good sauce" They get imported San Marzano tomatoes - you know the ones from the volcanic region of Italy that are like the nuclear bomb of tomatoes just exploding with flavor. This is the best pizza I've had in the US - other than my grandmother's of course (but its damn close and she gets the same imported tomatoes from her home town of Naples, IT. If you live in this area, and get pizza anywhere other than Pizza Bono, I hope you choke on it. Seriously go get the pizza there. read more

I went to pizza bono 2 times this week looking for some mediocre pizza. I'm black and I'm homeless, so I can't afford to be picky (otherwise trust me, I would be.) I spent all day on the street embarrassing myself, asking strangers for money so I might be able to get a hot meal. Each time I arrived at pizza bono's, I had my money visibly in my hand so that they knew I wasn't just looking to hang around for some free heat. Each time, they took one look at me and turned me away. I've never so much as given them a cross look, and yet they turn me away. The second time I was turned away, however, I heard someone mutter something as I walked away calmly. I turned around and asked them to speak up if they had something to say to me. He looked me dead in the eyes and said "you people" aren't welcome here. I'm not sure if it's my race or my socioeconomic status that he took an issue with, but nonetheless I was being discriminated against. I will never return to this disgusting excuse for a pizza joint, and I hope everyone finds out about the rats in there soon. I have been a loyal customer for years. Over the last several months I have noticed many mistakes when I order. I always just dealt with it. Last week I had ordered two pizza specials. Which is one large one topping pizza and 20 wings. When I got my food I was only given 20 wings instead of 40. I called and spoke to the owner who was very rude and hung up on me. Needless to say they lost a loyal customer. Very bad customer service and the quality of food has gotten horrible. read more

Not great, not bad. The staff were very friendly and attentive. The prices were reasonable for the basic array of Italian-American dishes. The food was OK, but nothing I would consider outstanding. It was very noisy. Not a good place to carry on a conversation. The side salads were better than most restaurants of this type in the area. My wife had spaghetti and meatballs which were tasty, moist and well portioned. They did lack a little spice, but at least they were not tough and chewy like so many Italian-American restaurants' meatballs are. A friend had a small pepperoni pizza which she said was tasty, but not as good as previous times she had been there. She said the crust was thicker than usual. I had the nightly special, seafood marinara. The portion was ample for the price. The sauce was not a marinara. It was more of a broth with fresh tomatoes added. Unfortunately it was too thin to stick to the pasta. It either needed to be reduced or have marinara added to give it some body. The seafood was shrimp, scallops, calamari, clams and mussels. Unfortunately all were precooked and then cooked again when ordered. The shrimp and clams survived the overcooking reasonably well, but the scallops were dry, the calamari were rubbery and the mussels were mealy and fishy tasting. I wasn't expecting much, since this place focuses on their pizza business more than other dishes. So, I wasn't terribly disappointed, but I had hoped for a little more. If you go, stick to the pizza and salad. Venturing beyond that will yield mixed results. If you stick to simple things, you probably can't go wrong. read more

Used to order once a week, and would always leave a hefty tip every time for delivery guys. One night- owner/ shitbag manager(?) told me cold food we waited for about 2 hours was acceptable. Will never come back. If you like frozen pizza, mozzarella sticks (frozen, without marinara), and wings frozen but delivered- this is the place. Pizza Bono is hands down the BEST!!!!! pizza in Plattsburgh. They are ALWAYS open during every storm, holiday and VERY, VERY late at night. If you are coming out of a bar or nightclub this is THE place to go. Very small, clean no frills pizza with dine in or take out. Outdoor seating outside on Margaret Street with endless entertainment if you are into people watching. You will find everyone here from people in business suits next to people in tank tops. They offer pizza by the slice and VERY reasonable prices. There is a full service bar attached next door. Staff are very fast and responsive but not always the most friendly. They take cash and credit cards and there is an ATM located right in the restaurant. Absolutely one of the gems of downtown Plattsburgh. read more

The pizza is...okay...thick crust, the sauce is a little sweet. They have good specialty slices that taste especially good when your feeling a little weird. It's a little pricey for a pizza place. The reason I'm giving this a higher rating than I'd like to is because of the cold cheese. I am a cheese aficionado and the cold cheese slice really gets me. They are located in the middle of all of the bars and is the perfect place to go for food after a late night. There are a lot fights that arise from hungry drunk people and just people in general. On my way home to Montreal from Plattsburgh airport, ended up here on a whim and was pleasantly surprised! The cheese pizza had a thin, just-crisp-enough crust, the meatballs were really tasty and the salad was fresh. Our waitress was really friendly and contributed to our positive experience. The decor is not on point but obviously, this is a super casual/fast-food joint so it really doesn't matter. I'd make it a point to return here next time I'm in town! read more
