Walked in with a friend to order a milkshake and had the most unfriendly cashier i've ever encountered. Asked if we can add multiple flavors to a shake which apparently annoyed her as she used an aggressive tone to answer each question. Once she was about to start with the shakes we asked if we could add one more flavor to a shake and she was very clearly annoyed to the point of rolling her eyes and sighing. She then gave us one shake and one malt instead of 2 malts and argued that I said a shake. We said it was fine and then she felt the need to explain the different of a malt and shake to me. Pretty sure the owner was sitting at the window the entire time with nothing to add to how his employee is treating customers. Aside from having an awesome name (PIZZA BOB'S! i just love saying the name to this place), this place has pretty awesome food as well! I don't know where the chipati got started - someone told me PBs may in fact actually be the originators themselves - but the idea is amazingly delicious. OK so the chipati is the only thing I've had here so far, but I think we're off to a good start. Not only is it yummy but it doesn't make me feel like i'm wasting money buying a salad that I could put together myself for $5 less. Here's why: - The soft, chewy bread that makes the chipati exterior is phenomenal here. I don't know what they do but it's amazing. - Dipping sauce/dressing is pretty much my favorite part of the chipati. It's like a southwestern ranch type dressing but 10x better. - The salad is well made - things are chopped well, and proportionally I get a good amount of salad and shredded chicken, making for a perfect chopped salad when mixed in with the sauce, described above. - Free delivery! This is not really the first chipati that I've tried, either. I first thought (in my Ann Arbor n00b mind) that Pizza House was the only place that had chipatis, but then I heard about this place! It's been a while since I've had one from PH, but I don't remember dreaming about their chipati bread for a few days and then some like I did with Pizza Bob's. Plus, PBs has the chipopeye (again, this place and its names! amazing!) which is made with spinach. I think that will be the next thing I try here, and according to the reviews, milkshakes perhaps next after that, or along with that. And then finally I guess I'll have to try the pizza, won't I? Best milkshake in town! I have been coming here since I was a kid... the peanut butter, carmel, chocolate milkshake it to die for! It is a tiny hole in the wall that may not do so well on health department inspections (I am making this up... i don't know their real scores), but the shakes are great. The prices are not the best - $3.50 for a small shake seems little high, but it is a true gem. Even though the name of the place has pizza in it, don't order pizza here. It is kinda crappy pizza... the chapatis and calzones are tasty so stick with those if you actually want to have a real meal. read more

Anyone who claims that the best Chipati's are found elsewhere hasn't been here. Unlike other places where the pita is as hard as a rock, both white and wheat pitas are always soft and fluffy. The sauce, as always, is excellent. The best milkshakes in Ann Arbor are found here, and they know the right balance of flavors regardless of the combination. I think Pizza Bob pizza is just as good or better than Pizza House's. Same goes for their milkshakes. Delivery is always made in a reasonable timeframe, and the prices are not bad. The only downside is that they lack a huge sit-down restaurant like Pizza House. read more

I have been eating subs & shakes from Pizza Bob's since 1990. I used to get them for my kids when they were younger for Friday Fun Night after my divorce. My kids loved them and so do I! I recently stopped in there with my now 25-year old son and we had subs & shakes again for the first time in quite awhile. He got his usual Torpedo with a Peanut Butter/Hot Fudge shake and I got the Super Sub with a Chocolate Banana shake. Delicious just like I remember them!! Fresh and hot (the subs anyways) and the shakes were thick and full-flavored. I've probably been here more than 20 times in my life and have yet to try the pizza. I need to get my kids together again for a movie night and serve Pizza Bob's sub's and shakes again! Now if I can just corral all three of them when they have time....:) read more

This is only a review of a shake. People have been telling me I needed to try a Pizza Bob's milkshake, as they are the best ever. When I saw they were made from soft serve, I knew that couldn't be true. I got chocolate and peanut butter, and asked for extra chocolate. Sadly disappointed with the quality of service there. Unlike most restaurants or hole in the wall places, the quality of the food is only made better by the quality of the people working there. The girl that was working there (Michelle) made me feel as if my presence was more of a burden than an enjoyable customer. I have been to Pizza Bob's only one time before and had a great experience! This used to be one of my favorite places to go for shakes, but the service has been so bad for the past 6 months, I refuse to go there any more. Last week was the last straw. I went in with my girlfriend trying to get milkshakes. There were two guys working there and no other customers. Both guys were watching It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and did not acknowledge that we walked in. After waiting for 5 minutes, and without being even acknowledged, we walked out. I had a medium pizza from here and it was great. Pizza should be simple: warm soft crust, ample cheese and toppings you like. Bob's is exactly this, the pie is not too thin or cardboard-like, it's got a good amount of cheese, and it has a slight amount of oil, but not excessive. And you can choose wheat or white crust! If they had a garlic dippping sauce or something like that I would want to give this 6 stars! And don't even mention the price: 10$ for a medium pizza, a nice round even number and it comes with one topping. Plain and simple: it's good. read more

It takes about a minute and a half to make a milkshake which is all I get, but usually it takes 4 times as long for someone to acknowledge customers--even if the store is completely empty! I like the milkshakes a lot, but not enough to wait around for ten minutes and then receive really bad service. My workplace ordered from this place thinking it would be great since its been open for many years. Boy, was I wrong. I ordered a calzone. Let's start with the good: The bread is delicious! It was cooked well, which is a big plus since sometimes the inside of calzones can be a bit doughy. The bad: Most of my calzone was bread. I didn't get to toppings, sauce, or cheese until I was half way through the calzone (I approached from each end). The sauce is a smidgen below ok, the pineapples were chunked as opposed to being tidbits, the cheese was eh', and the bacon was full of so much fat that most of it ended up back on my plate. I'm not sure what is supposed to be so great about this place. I'm guessing those who reminisce from the good ole days and the student population (who probably don't care about quality) are what keep this place afloat. read more

Pizza bobs is one of my favorite places in AA. I had my heart set on a chipati today and I was so disappointed when I got there and it was closed. In the window it stated Sunday open at 12pm. If they mess up your order they won't make it right and will be rude even if you're nice. When I called it was because the sandwich was missing pepperoni. Post call and after further inspection I discovered the sub was also missing cheese. How someone misses cheese and pepperoni on a pizza sub is beyond me read more

Have been a customer for many years. Have stuck with them as quality went up and down but generally acceptable to good. Despite the always present awful smell of some form of cleanser, was never quite comfortable that they were terribly particular about cleanliness and frustrated by the 'customer's are an annoyance' feeling I often got. I hung-in for the Chipati. After all that, the most ridiculous situation is leading me to never eat here again. I had ordered a Chipati with an extra dressing for pick-up. I discovered when I got home that they charged me for the second dressing but did not include it in my order (not the first time an order was wrong). I was not going to drive back or have them deliver a dressing so decided to just ask for a replacement at no charge the next time I ordered (one or two weeks later maximum). When that time came, the manager advised that they would not remedy the situation and would not provide a dressing at no cost. The money is not of consequence but the principle is. So, I went over the Pizza House and just finished one of their Chipati's. Yummy, satisfying dinner with more varieties anyway. So long Pizza Bob's. Really poor management. read more

If you love a thick, fresh, whole wheat chapati then there is NO other place to go. While Pizza House's Chapati is very good, you just can't beat the whole wheat chapati bread at Pizza Bob's. And I love the extreme minimalist atmosphere. Hard core restaurant for Chapati lovers. read more

Don't go. I used to like this place but the last year it's been terrible. Half the time they can't make a chipati (depends on who makes it) and the last three times I've been they either burn it or it comes out as a bread salad and falls apart if you try to pick it up. My co-workers and I used to love, love, love their Chipati's but lately they have been flat and way understuffed on several different occassions. And their delivery - well just don't order hungry because you will be near starvation once it finally arrives. Maybe that is their ploy - take forever to deliver so when you do the consumer doesn't realize the quality has gone down 5 levels. It will take us a long while before we order from them again.
