Cool spot for fun with friends or a date night. The food was pretty good, nothing spectacular. The GTFOH tatertots were pretty good, wish the tots were crisper. The burger left more to be desired, you couldn't even see the beef patty it was so small, it was mostly bun. The ranch doesn't taste like ranch, more like a garlic tzatziki sauce. The south philly sandwich was good, that sharp provolone was perfect, but again the bun was too big for the ratio of meat. There were no draft beer prices listed which makes it a surprise on your tab which I was not a fan of. It was nice that you could just buy tokens on your tab. Most games were only 1 token. We walked in to be met with stink eye and attitude that we asked questions about what was going on and how to get settled. Ultimately we were ignored until we flagged someone down and were still not helped. We found the upstairs to be full and based on the experience after only a few minutes, we left embarrassed and disappointed. We aren't interested in trying again. read more

Decided to try something different from our usual date night. When we entered the bartender seemed to be too distracted with the group that was already present to acknowledge us. There wasn't much to do downstairs so we decided to give the second floor a try. The bartender up there was a lot more friendly and welcoming I believe her name was Lee (I might be wrong). The drinks we ordered were just like I like them ...strong. The games were pretty fun as well. A few that I played mortal kombat, Pac-Man, frogger, skiball etc. all of which seemed to be working without problems. The wings and fries however you might want to skip out on neither of them contained any flavor and the chicken was sort of dry. I'll definitely be back for games and drinks and maybe will order something different off the menu. read more

This review is for the video game arcade portion of the business only. My wife and I went in and we really had a great time playing the games. It truly was just a fun date time for us. We went in played Centipede, Pacman, Frogger, and a few of the pinball machines. It really was a lot of fun and we do enjoy the old school video games. The bar itself is really kind of cool and we look forward to returning in the future and trying the food. They had many items that sounded like it would be worth trying, but we had just eaten brunch and stopped here on the way home. I think that this would be a great place to hang out with a good group of adult friends or even an after work get together for the office. Seems they are trying to cater to the adults much more than Dave and Busters! Well done! read more

Love this place but I bought a salad and a soda for 22.50 and I was very upset at the price but paid anyway without a word. Later my card has a charge for 22.50 and another for 46.00. I'm waiting for a call from "Bob" who is the manager but the girl I spoke to earlier didn't sound like that would happen and it hasn't yet. After visiting Pixels several times throughout the short time that the establishment has been open, I must say I am impressed. The atmosphere, staff, games, food and drinks are all outstanding. The atmosphere is a retro arcade bar that has a perfect mixture of classic arcade games as well as a two ski ball stations, an air hockey table, and a massive connect four. There are two bars, one upstairs and one downstairs with plenty of seating at both. The upstairs has two rooms packed with arcade games as well as adequate tables and booths throughout. There is also a two-part patio, one side enclosed and the other uncovered. As for the downstairs it has a few arcade games, pinball machines and TVs with playable classics via wireless retro game controllers. Either way, you can't go wrong with either floor you choose in Pixels. The unique thing about this bar is the welcoming atmosphere of any type of person and every fellow customer I've encountered has been very nice. As for the staff, the servers are very attentive at all times and are always providing excellent service. I have been always provided above and beyond service from Hannah, Kara, Alice, and Dakota every time I go there. They are always welcoming and answer any questions you may have. The managers seem very on top of things and provide making reservations for large parties a breeze. I was able to make an 18-party reservation with Hollann and she was more than accommodating in order to provide the best experience for my friends. As mentioned previously, Pixels has a wide array of arcade retro arcade games. They have an abundant amount of pinball machines, Pac-man, teenage mutant ninja turtles, rampage, and many more. The highlight is a competitive Pac-man game in which up to 4 players can play at once and they compete against one another. The machines take "Pixel coins" in which you can get from either the coin machine or a more convenient way is to get them from your server and they're just added to your tab. It equates to 25 cents per 1 "Pixels coin" and most games you play only take 1 coin so the games are cheap. The food surprised me, I was expecting the typical sub-par bar food but in reality, it is quite delicious. Their menu is edgy and it keeps on course with the arcade theme with their names. I have tried 85% of their menu, to include their appetizers and I have no complaints so far. My favorite appetizer is the "GTFOH" and that is an elaborate course of tater tops with elaborate toppings. I also recommend the "Meal Ticket" and that is a buffalo chicken patty and topped with macaroni and cheese. Lastly, their drinks vary from craft beers, standard beers, ciders, and a wide array of cocktails. They even serve 40s with the hilarious option of bottle service if you choose. To further continue the Pixels theme, each cocktail is uniquely named in which I really like. Again, I haven't disliked any of their drinks that I've had. I highly recommend you give this place a try if you haven't done so already, you won't regret it. Will start out by saying it's a nice spot, they had some great games to choose from and the place was overall clean good wait staff no issues there. However we were totally underwhelmed by the food. I am definitely not a video game person and I don't drink so this wasn't really my place. My husband loved the beer and I know could have gotten lost in all the games they have. The server was very nice and ensured our drinks stayed full and came by a few times to ask how we were doing. I would recommend getting the brisket or a sandwich as the chicken salad was a little on the light side for the price. I would have liked to have seen a plate full of chicken salad with crackers and boiled egg vs a lunch tray type deal with a small scoop of chicken salad and some vegetables. I was kind of on the fence about trying this place. I thought it would be more about the games and the food wouldn't be that great but I was wrong! Me and my boyfriend ordered to go, he got a sandwich and I got the meatloaf. The food was great and I loved that they had Donkey Kong Country at the bar on Super Nintendo. I am not a huge modern day arcade fan- don't like Dave and Buster's, but this is a pleasant reprieve from that. I love the old feel of the bar, and check the token-coated bar top out, it's pretty neat. Some of the games are a little glitchy, but if anything malfunctions the bar staff are happy to reimburse tokens. The wings here were actually awesome, I might go back just for those. We came here for a fun date night last week and really enjoyed it! There are two stories and both serve food and drinks. On the first floor you can play video games while you eat and the second floor has most of the games. The food was very interesting. They took your typical dishes and put a twist on them in their own way. I had the south philly sandwich with tater tots and my boyfriend got A home style meal with chicken, broccoli and Mac and cheese. We also shared the chicken and waffles buffalo style which came with peas and carrots. It was a very strange combination. I wish we would have had it Kung pao style. I think that would have tasted better all together. The buffalo chicken was good though! As was my sandwich and tater tots. They have a good cocktail list and beers on tap. It would be nice if they had happy hour deals. They had a TON of video games. Every classic you can think of plus skee ball and air hockey. You need tokens to play which you can get by putting dollar bills into a machine (no coins) or adding coins to your tab when you pay which is awesome if you don't carry cash! The games are not too expensive- we played skee ball for one token a piece. Air hockey was 4 tokens which was a little pricey. They also have an atm on site. Went here with a large group on a weekday night, so it wasn't too busy. Service was great, our server (Molly) was super cool and attentive. I ordered a Sex on the beach and one complicated drink and both were made fast and tasted delicious so I have confidence in their bartenders. The overall feel of Pixels is nice. A real disappointment. I went here with my fiance for my birthday, and was excited to see the game selection and try some of the unique dishes. Unfortunately, both were underwhelming- the pork belly was sold out, as was the Fungus Khan, both of which I was excited to try. Instead, we got the GTFOH, which was fine, and the causehead sandwich. This sandwich was unbelievably bad, the worst tofu I've ever eaten. No seasoning, no sauce- same with the brussel sprouts I got as a side. The Oregon trail drink was good, but the rest of our order was so mediocre it brought the whole mood down. After dinner, we were disappointed yet again with the game selection; nothing really special to speak of, and only a few good multiplayer arcade cabinets. My new hangout spot! Perfect location and pretty much brand new. They have two floors and two bars, as well as a balcony! Their happy hour is amazing, try the cocktails and apps. This place was a pleasant surprise! Located in the old Belmont spot, it's a great location. The staff was all friendly and the beer selection was solid. The atmosphere felt like a fun rec-room. It was more "homey" than Circuit, which I really liked. The focus here is on the games. They've got a great selection of classic cabinets: Galaga, Burgertime, Tapper, Turtles, X-men, Simpsons, Defender, Blitz, NBA Jam, Pac-man, and a ton more. Plus, they've got a projector with a Nintendo 64 so you can throw down in Goldeneye and Mario Kart. Goldeneye REALLY doesn't hold up, haha. Mario Kart does, though. Not very busy, bartender forgot to ring in my dinner and rang in the wrong dinner for my friend. When we brought it to their attention, he offered to replace her meal and told me I didn't order even though we ordered together and he even asked what side I wanted. No apologies, we cancelled our food because it was getting too late to eat at this point as I work first thing in the morning. This particular bartender proceeded to completely ignore us and our empty drinks. Another bartender noticed us and finally got us our tabs. Super cool place, not so good service( on the night i want), bad bar management. Not only did the bartenders move very slowly but there were rude, short, and passive. I was also flat out ignored when I made a request for a straw. My group and I got to the point that we were all over waiting so long for a drink, we decided to close out and head else where. After waiting and waiting, I attempted to wave a bartending down. The bar manager, who was sitting at the bar drinking, then proceeded to tell me how rude that was. Not to mention how unprofessional it is for the bar manager to be drinking at the bar but the fact that she told me she was the bar manager completely blew my mind. As someone who bartends, I feel that I'm not doing my job as effectively as possible if my guests are to the point they need to wave me down but thats just my opinion. I am also a very understanding person when it comes to service but this place was not very busy. The bar manager then walked behind the bar and started talking with the bartender. I felt uncomfortable and had my friend to close out for me. I didn't get to try the food but my friend ordered something and was happy with what she ordered. I wont have the chance to form my own opinion on the food as I will not be back. Plenty of other amazing local places with great service here in norfolk. read more

I went there last night and had awesome service from the male bartender and when I sat at a table, the server was great too. The atmosphere is fun, different and vibrant. The prices are pretty comparable to other bars around there. I will say the shrimp sandwich was not my favorite, but I'll try something else next time. This place is great! They completely overhauled the space and it looks amazing - the floor is new (and sturdy!) and they opened up what used to be a storage area and added more bathrooms. Their game selection is awesome, lots of fun retro games like PacMan, Mortal Kombat, etc, as well as skee ball, pinball and air hockey. The games run on tokens so make sure you bring some cash, though they do have an ATM. My boyfriend and I both enjoyed our meals and the service was on point.
