I can't rave about this place enough! We had our rehearsal dinner there and from the beginning, Brian and his team were so helpful and always available for our questions. We chose this because we love the food and the interior was perfect. They have a back room that we reserved for our party. It's beautiful! Our family was able to decorate and the food catered to everyone. It was spacious and they even have a photo booth! I love that we can always go back and eat there now that we are married. Brian even surprised us with our names on the sign and throughout the weekend, our friends kept driving by and sending us pictures of it. I used to go to Pitfire on Fairfax and Westwood years and years ago They had a good menu and I liked that the restaurant was casual and inexpensive. So I was excited to try this new location. The space is big...it is a very nice brewery-like space. I ordered pasta and pizza but both tasted bland. My friends ordered 4 other items and they said the same thing. Pitfire used to have flavorful dishes. I'm not even vegan but I remembered that they had good vegan cheese pizza so I ordered it. Well, I couldn't eat more than 2 slices. My vegetarian friend didn't want to eat it, either. The cashew cheese tasted awful and the tomato sauce was too sour. The soft serve w/ a cookie & caramel sauce used to be incredible but not any more. I guess I should just let my old memories go. This turned out to be a sad visit :-( read more

Pitfire offers consistently good pizza without completely price-gouging you like most LA joints of comparable quality. The only real issue I have is that they use way too much flour during shaping and don't knock off any of the excess after baking. Most of the time, your first sensation after a bite is a dry mouthful of burnt or raw flour coating the bottom of the pie. If they could fix that, they'd really shine above the rest. read more

Sadly no "leave us a good review" pin for me. Sorry but this place had done little to give me any reason to return. My son and I came to the shell of the former Mohawk Bend finding just about the entire place the same, albeit some paint and new tables (terribly unbalanced) and chairs (uncomfortable). There's no host service since the place was empty. Just walked into an empty restaurant where signs directed us to get a menu and grab a table, and order at the bar. After ordering, you pay before the food arrives (and expect them to request 15/20/+ tip for this privilege). We got our drink cups and filled up at the "soda room" with the same soda machine you'd see at any subway or similar chain store. The menu looked interesting, offering all sorts of pasta dishes and pizza offering, both vegan and vegetarian options aplenty. My son ordered the cheese and I the vegan mushroom (requesting light cheese since I'm in training). What did we get? I've had this complaint for every other Pitfire pizza, they like to make their pizza into flat and oily slabs with a tractor tire for a crust. This is so strange, it's like a round breadstick that picked up a greasy napkin. My son ate some of his pizza and sort of made a face at the heavy crust and the meager bland cheese. My pizza was a mess. The "field mushroom" was tough and tasteless mushrooms that tasted like their were either purchased dried and they reconstituted them or they were canned. Either way they weren't fresh. Since they didn't have much cheese on it, it was dripping with oil. It was gross. Bland sauce, crust so thin in the middle it looked like they stepped on it, and a tire for a crust. If you're hungry for pizza in the Elysian Heights/Silverlake/Echo Park area, there's a reason there's a wait at Masa and Triple Beam. I left behind most of both pies because I can only imagine how much worse it tasted reheated. Here's a tip if you read your reviews Pitfire 1. Use fresh ingredients 2. Use fresh sauce 3. Roll your dough out by hand and give it some thickness, or learn how to make a proper Brooklyn thin crust. 4. Turn up the heat! The place was freezing 5. Pitfire pizza is a 10/10! I can never come here and not get their wings. Yes, they're that good! Probably the best in LA IMO. We opt for the Buffalo ones that have Calabrian chili on them. So delicious! The pizza is always yummy too! Careful though because it's piping hot lol. This time we got the sausage & peppers to try something different from the usual - Zoe's pizza (my fave). We really liked the light crust. Chopped salad was really nice and this dressing which I've never heard of before, I loved. They call it Oregeno Dressing. It's not strongly flavored of oregano and had a pleasant tartness and sweetness to it. I took some home. The buffalo wings. When they said boneless I was expecting nuggets, ya know? Arrived with friends after a running club at around 10pm, there was no wait, pretty empty, which was nice, since we had a large party of 7 people and got seated right away in the middle bar area, plenty of space and easy to chat. We ordered 3 pizzas, the steak salad, and the shredded kale salad, and it was the perfect amount for us. The sausage party was delicious, highly recommended. Plenty of options for pizzas. Service was quick, but I don't know what the peak dining hours are like. Price was pretty reasonable as well, and good for large parties at least later in the evening. Parking could be difficult given the location of the restaurant. Late at night, street parking was easy to find. But can imagine during peak hours you may have to park a distance away or on the side streets. Overall, great experience, would visit again! read more

They bring to the table. They stop by and ask if you need anything. It's the way it goes these days. No complaints. Best thing - the Dodger Special: Pizza and a beer for $20. CAN'T BEAT IT! Pretty much you save $6 on the $20 order! If this special weren't offered, I'd say this place is overpriced. But as long as this special lasts, it's a recommended place in my book - and a smart business decision (leverages that 2nd beer), draws traffic and doesn't really cost them much margin. I was actually going somewhere else and spotted this location. Decided to check the menu first and I liked what I saw so I decided to eat here. You can seat yourself anywhere you want and I chose to sit in the patio. What I was not told was that I had to go inside and order... after sitting and waiting (9 minutes) for a server to take my order. Thanks to the customer who told me. Lol. I ordered the vegan pizza, which they have plenty of options. It took awhile but the pizza itself was delicious. The dough was perfect. Loved the cheese and the sauce was perfect. Not too bland or sweet. I ate 80% of it myself and the leftover next day. I'd definitely will come back again. The staff were nice but they should have informed me on where to order or have a sign that says so. Pretty average pizza! Nothing spectacular but I'm excited to have a GF pizza option in echo park. I got the pepperoni on GS crust and my boyfriend got the sausage and mushroom. Servers were all very nice and attentive but one pizza came out like 15 mins before the other which was kind of a bummer but not a huge deal. Ranch is extra ($2) which is pretty steep for a little side of it. Regardless, a good late night spot with plenty of seating! Cute "backyard" feel. We had reservations for a birthday party for 9 people. We arrived and had to actively ask someone in the kitchen where we would be seated. There was no host. In fact, there is no service at the tables at all. This poses huge problems when you order multiple drinks and food when THEY DON'T HAVE SOMEONE BUSSING THE TABLES. Secondly, the restaurant was very hot inside. Like 80 degrees or more. We asked what the thermostat was set at and they said 75 degrees! Uhhh... WTF? Third, they were understaffed and when you wanted to order a drink or food you were waiting in line for 10 minutes or more each time to do so. I am sorry, but I want my friends at my table having a good time and not inconvenienced by waiting to order because you are too cheap to hire more competent staff. Other issues included flickering lights, a poor sound system, frozen cocktails that weren't fully frozen, and a photo booth that makes the worst photographs ever. The owner/manager doesn't pay enough attention to this business, is skimping on staff and not properly maintaining this building. Word of advice, order your pizza to go. Not sure this place will be around much longer with this kind of operations. read more

We had a great area in the back assigned to our group with a few smaller tables that could be pushed together easily to make a longer table. The fires were so cozy and nice. It was so easy for our group to order separately as you have to pay when you order then they bring your food out. So mich easier than having to make a server split the bill! The pizza, pasta, salad and wings were all delicious. The soda was flat, the only really ding in the review. They also were easy to call and speak to a human and ask questions. I frequented both the Pitfire in DTLA and Mohawk Bend. I loved this space and hoped something great would move in after losing Mohawk Bend. I am happy that its Pitfure. They do a great job at being in a community and their happy hour menu is a big hit with my family. We had a full dinner for under $50 and that NEVER happens lately! And the staff and space are great.
