Last night in town and I was feeling lazy and did not want to venture out for dinner. So since this place is right next to my hotel(Hilton), I decided to give it a try. I ordered several items and liked them all. My favorite by far was the fried artichokes. Fast and friendly service made this a great last night for me.

Love the interior design! The color scheme was very pleasing. We started off with olives which were delicious. I'm not a big olive person but my fiancé is so this is based off his experience. So believe me if he says they're good then that means they really are! Next I ordered chicken mushroom garlic dish. I am knew to the eating portions in Europe so the small amount I was served was surprising but wonderful. It was packed with delicious flavor and satisfying. Our waiter was kind enough to bring out some extra bread to accompany my meal. My fiancé ordered a burger, again small portion but satisfying. The aoli served along side was delicious!

A fantastic place to bring the family if you're in this part of Barcelona! We actually ate here twice during our stay and loved each occasion. Some of the best tapas to try were the mature beef slices, potatoes, and calamari. Our kids loved this place as they got the opportunity to try several different dishes. Their drink menu was stellar as well, with a plethora of different options. We tried the sangria and the mojitos and were NOT disappointed. Staying at the Hilton right next door, we were 30 seconds away from our home away from home - how lucky we were that this place was so good! Give it a try even if you're not staying in this area!

Picolabis is a Tapas bar in Barcelona, I called in here to spend my first night in the Catalan capital, hoping to get something to eat however I left disappointed and hungry. This place is in a decent location, just off a street with lots of shops, and next to a Starbucks however to get in there is a very poor small ramp or steps, the premier is quite poor and dangerous in my opinion. When I entered the building, it had a poor feel to it especially inside, it seemed the only atmosphere it had, was outside and with it being late in the evening, I didn't want to spend my evening meal outside in the pitch black and slight cold. I asked the waiter about the gluten free selection, or sans gluten in Spanish, I did originally struggle to get through and other than Squid and Salad, he seemed unable to offer me anything. The waiter barely understood english, and he did seem to try his best but he simply lacked knowledge on what I could eat, the menu was also hard to understand and was mainly just pictures which I didn't like either, in the end I decided to walk out so sadly due to the selection and service received and other factors mentioned, I feel Piscolabis deserves a single one star.

Very nice place directly across from the entrance to the Hilton Hotel on Diagonal. http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/piscolabis-barcelona?userid=e_qnJqm6m4BKlNDp6-iO4Q#DhBfxe5hnoaAbfMEagidKw It is crowded every night with locals and tourists, alike. http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/piscolabis-barcelona?userid=e_qnJqm6m4BKlNDp6-iO4Q#ecF-xXMMwcffiwb_73fibA Very diverse menu and low cost for the area which is mostly commercial businesses and company offices. We had the specials of the day which were very tasty. The seating area inside is very nice, so is the outside seating. The service personnel outside are a little lax in getting back to your table, since it distracts them from their smoke breaks and social time with each other. Ah, Spain, if it wasn't for the observation that everyone smokes - your country could be a very nice place. I know it sounds like hyperbole to say everyone smokes, but I swear I saw dogs smoking when they were out on walks with their owners. The worst was seeing late-teen and early 20 year old females, rolling their own with papers and a tobacco pouch (legal stuff, not grass) as they walk down the street. I digress. The place was at overflow, out onto the sidewalk, one night. It was because Real Madrid and Barcelona were playing a game of futbol in town and the whole city was at bars and restaurants watching on big screens. Game ended in a tie of 2-2, so everyone was equally pissed. We were pissed because the Barcelona Metro workers of the subway system chose that Sunday to strike and none of the subway trains were running until after the game was over. Damn fools just wanted to get drunk all day and watch the game. Ahh Spain, if you ever get your head out of your ass over the socialist welfare system you contrived, you could be a great country.

Enjoy the service and food here. Tried many side dishes and the ones that were above all else were the jamon frites and risotto with their house wine! Great hours and very fast service, highly recommend this place!

Really cheap tapas here, I got a tuna salad ($6), iced wine ($4), for breakfast I got s green juice ($3) and bacon and eggs. All the dishes were great, nothing amazing or different just cheap dishes to eat. Staffs were really kind! Causal place and the decor is nice. There's s parking garage next door where the Hilton hotel is.

Unbelievable service and the drinks are fat. Great time and food. Well worth a stop off.

Nice place, I came with my boyfriend, we had tomato & bread, croquettes, huevos estrellados and chistorra toast. Small sizes but good quality, they served us really fast.

Great service. Friendly and kindly spoke English with me sans attitude which is always refreshing. They take American Express which is also nice when travelling on business. Tapas were simple but delicious. Grilled asparagus with generous brie was lovely and traditional meatballs in yummy gravy was also a nice portion.

Very flavorful and fast experience. Oxtail and mashed potatoes 10/10: the oxtail meet is so tender and flavorful. The mashed potatoes pair so well with the oxtail. Mushroom, steak, and egg yolk 9/10: soo flavorful and balance of veggies and protein. Amazing textures and flavors. Sparkling sangria: 8/10 I don't normally live the taste of alcohol but this was great. Not tooooo strong and if tastes pretty good if you mix it with the orange juice. Fresh orange juice: 10/10 so tangy and delicious. I can't recommend it enough. Patatas bravas: 9/10 solid no complaints! Dessert Tapas: - bread dessert (Tarija): 11/10 amazing dessert that is creamy, cameralized, and has a mochi like texture. This fried chewy dessert is not too sweet and such an affordable price. - coconut pudding 9/10 solid and refreshing if you like flan - bread, chocolate oil, salt 7/10: I live the complex flavors. The chocolate mousse was light and the bread to mousse ratio was perfect. It's a smaller dessert tho I wouldn't recommend it if ur sharing. Service: amazing! Staff I'm everywhere so it was very easy to order more food. Also we were sitting buy the area where they made dessert and they allowed me to record them making it!! Comfortable ambiance great for date night or casual meals!!!

This is the first restaurant I stopped at for some tapas during my trip to Barcelona and it spoiled…read moreme. I ordered a few things so let me talk about each one. Ham & Chicken Croquette: This was too good for how small it was. Just a nice potato croquette filled with some great quality ham and chicken. It was akin to a cordon bleu. White Asparagus with Baby Beans and Ham: This one floored me. Tender white asparagus in a vinegar based sauce with some tender ham and beans. I could have had two orders of this. Pulpo (Octopus) with Pork Belly: Not the best Pulpo of the trip but it sure set the standard. The octopus was unbelievably tender and you can just taste how fresh it is. The pork belly slice almost felt like an odd choice here to be honest. I didn't really know how to eat it with the pulpo since it overpowered it. The pork belly itself wasn't very impressive either so I kinda brushed it off at the end. It was a bit dry at some parts and just kept throwing me off. Gambas roja a la plancha: Prawns are EVERYWHERE here and they know how to cook them. These were tasty but not the freshest or most flavorful I had this trip either. Always eat the shell! Scallops a la plancha in a leek-apple based sauce with bits of crisped ham: This dish on its own makes this place a 5. The sauce is DIVINE. It's a little sweet and creamy to contrast the savory, perfectly cooked scallops swimming in it. The crunchy bits of ham give you a nice texture surprise with some much needed salt to balance it all out. These scallops practically melted in my mouth with each bite. This is a must try. Beef filet and foie gras montadito: Basically steak and foie gras on a toasty slice of bread. Honestly? This was the weakest dish here. The steak itself was just okay and I didn't really like the foie gras. It was like a very gamey butter. I'm sure it has its applications but it just felt like too much going on here. I'd pass on it. Chocolate in 3 textures: So for dessert I wanted chocolate so I went for the choco bomb. It was okay. I guess the three textures were the ganache, mousse, and wafers? It just reminded me of an elevated chocolate wafer bar like one from Loaker. I'd also pass on this dessert. My server was lovely and the atmosphere here is vibrant. Though there were few misses I would absolutely eat here again and get the things I loved but switch up the rest. That's part of the fun in tapas anyway.

I am a sauce on the side person and so I thought the sauce on the potatoes was too much.. but once I scraped off majority of it, the potatoes were really good, I wasn't that much of a fan of the sauce. The peppers were really good, not too oily, not spicy at all, just right. I was not that much of a fan of the croquettes, it was a little too ham taste for me. The calamari was the best part for me! I really liked this. Environment Located steps from the Hampton hotel, it was very convenient for food around the area since the options could be slim since this is not in the city center. I love that they were opened during the typical closed hours, so I was able to get dinner at 6 or 7pm. There is outdoor seating and also indoor seating. Quite large space. Niceness of the staff Very nice staff - I was able to use my broken spanish. But they all spoke english and it was easy to get what I needed Dollar I thought there were all decently priced. They said the food was delicious and it was very close to our hotel near the Place d'Espanya, so we gave it a try. Absolutely awesome! My friend and I ordered the mixed paella for two (18 Euros per person) and it probably could've fed four! It was chock full of different types of seafood and chicken chunks. The whole dish was flavorful and satisfied like a warm blanket on a freezing night! The young lady waitperson was so friendly and we laughed as we tried to communicate with each other (she with no English and me with no Spanish). After we were stuffed to the gills, she brought us a complimentary plate of 4 pieces of olive oil cake and two glasses of a very tart brightly colored yellow liqueur that my friend said had a definite kick. When I told our waitperson that I don't drink alcohol, she brought me a glass of the same fruity base liquid sans the alcohol, which I found to be very tart and very pleasing on the palate! When I finished it, the young lady offered me more, but there was no way for me to fit anything else into my completely full satisfied belly! This place might look touristy with the menu posted at the door and its plastic covered menu inside, but the food and staff are wonderful. Don't let your prejudices keep you from enoying the amazing place. Might be a bit pricier, too, since it's close to the plaza and hotels, but it's worth it! The charm of this restaurant was a highlight of our day; made for a wonderful end of a very active day of sightseeing in Barcelona!

Ordering and receiving the foods were pretty quick, which was great since we were hungry! The meat dish was so cheap which made us believe that it was a small portion, so we ordered some croquettes, mussels, and ham and fries. Well, the meat dish is NOT a small portion! The meat came with chicken drum, beef short ribs, and pork, as well as some grilled veggies and potatoes. That alone would have been enough food for us. However, beware that the meat doesn't really come with seasoning as it was really bland. It was simply grilled and served. The mussels were also simply cooked and were okay. The ham with fries were okay as well - the ham was really tough and hard to chew. The chicken and ham croquettes - please skip this. It was not good at all. The outside wasn't super crispy and the chicken was like a creamed chicken and it did not taste really good; the ham was a bit better, but not by much.
