Decided to hit up Pirate's Cove when we had family visiting... last time we'd gone to Putt Shack and since the weather was nice we thought we'd go for an outdoor option this time. Growing up in New Jersey I'd always loved going to the elaborate mini golf courses "down the shore". Pirate's Cove had a similar vibe with challenging holes, water features, multiple levels, etc. We opted to do the 27-holes and it kept us busy for a few hours. The two reasons I would not give this five stars: 1) the bathroom was absolutely disgusting, as in soiled toilet seat disgusting, and 2) the state of disrepair of some of the sections. When leaning against a wooden railing, we all heard a loud crack... not enough to break the beam, but just didn't seem safe overall. Pirate's Cove was a great spot for some mini-golf. When going to play mini-golf what I'm looking for is a good price, fun holes, and a well maintained course and I have to say Pirate's Cove did a pretty good job at that. The price was amazing with it being $11.75 for 18 holes or $14 for 27 holes and the course was maintained really well with not a lot of dirt or debris on it and no damage. I think the only area where Pirate's Cove didn't meet expectations was in the creativity of the holes where it can sometimes get repetitive. Overall this was a great experience and I'd recommend to anyone in the area looking to plays some mini golf! read more

For what it is, we love it! I meant, how can you not love a pirate themed putt putt in the middle of a parking lot?!? Location wise, it's super easy to get to. This place is run by a mom and her son and you can tell that they take pride in it. We went on a Wednesday at 11 am which is right when they opened and had the whole place to ourself which meant we did not have to rush at all. There is an 18 hole and a 27 hole I believe. We did 27. They do not take AMEX so be prepared. Overall it was fun and the kids all enjoyed being outside and social is a healthy way. read more

Anyone who knows me knows I am not quick to give a 5 star review, but this place honestly deserves it. I have not been miniature golfing in a minute and wasn't really looking forward to going because I was tired and the current Atlanta temps are too hot! However my daughter has been bugging me for weeks to go and I told her we would so...we headed there around six. I have many reasons to give this place 5 stars. It was a well maintained pretty course with lots of shade from all the trees. Lots of water around and I did not get ONE bug bite. That alone is worth 5 stars. Another plus was they were open past six. It's Sunday and a lot of establishments close at six so this was a big plus for us. Service was friendly. The course wasn't hard, perfect for us. And I won, by ten strokes. Haha. That was the best part. Oh and for the three of us, it was $24 and change to play. That's a killer deal nowadays where everything costs money and typically a lot of it to do anything. Love the fact that it's such a basic form of good old school entertainment that can be enjoyed by adults and kids alike. It kept my daughter off her iPad and the only time we used our phones was to take photos. It reminds me of simpler times and my child was so over the top happy and said it was the best day of her life. Wow. That made me so happy and my boyfriend and I also really enjoyed it, too. Came on their 1/2 Off Night & had a great time at Private's Cove. I've always seen this place from HWY 85 but first time stopping in. There were lots of families & friends out enjoying themselves. I was surprised at how busy it was for a Thursday. I only wish they had concession stand snacks but not having food keeps the place clean. You can also learn some history about the first Bonney minus the Clyde. I recommend getting a group & coming out to kill a few hours while possibly walking around with bragging rights! I lost but talked junk through each hole & got some great pics of the family. read more

This place is super cool! May be one of my favorite putt putt golf places! As it says on the title it's pirate themed. This place has so much packed Into a small space. I was impressed with how many nooks and crannies this place has! It is also cool Because there is plenty of shade which is great in Georgia in summer. The cost was not bad, $8 for a round of 18 holes. On Memorial Day weekend Kids 12 and under played free with a paying adult. It is a little hidden gem that is hidden on a row of hotels. read more

Pirates Cove is the treasure of Pleasant Hill Rd, as it's been in business since 1989. It sits off the first access road you come to before Gwinnett Place Mall, and can be seen from 85. There is a hotel lot directly across from them. X marks the spot, on your GPS that is! They have a private parking lot, with plenty of spots. First thing you notice pulling up is the giant pirates ship, with cannons ready. The ship is surrounded by water, and you cross a bridge to go inside and check in. We came Saturday afternoon, but I've been coming to this place since I was a teen, into my 20s, and now have taken my son 2-3 times. I have a picture of him when he was 4 with the pirate, and updated it today. The check in area plays off the Pirates theme with skeletons everywhere. They have air hockey, snack machine, drinks and bathrooms here. Different sized putters available too. You have the option for 9, 18 or all 27 holes. My son and I opted for the 18 holes. Pricing is not bad at all for 30+ of fun. I had recently gone to the Rainforest Golf in Stn Mtn, and it was a night and day difference. Where that course was dilapidated, this was course was pristine. None of the putt putt greens had any wear and tear, and all the jokes were clean. The landscaping was well tended to, and ponds were actually clean. We even saw a lone duck having some fun. They also had pirate facts at each hole, and provided some shaded areas with bench seating. Off the back exit onto the courses, they have a deck patio with benches to sit down at. There is even a ball cleaner before you start. Each hole provides a fun challenge, with some of them having you jump your ball over a moat. We had a blast playing, and seeing different pirate themes around the course. There are even pipes in the water that shoot up water randomly, as well as beachy music playing. My only complaint was having a group of 7 in front of us. They took forever going, and slowed down the speed at which we wanted to play. The place was pretty busy! Favorite part was holes 17 & 18 on top of the pirate ship. As we were about to leave, we got a scratch off card to use for the next visit. Overall, a great time and one of the better putt putt courses I've played around here. Looking for an easy, fun nice something to do with the family? Pirates Cove is clean, well cared for facility. The putting green looks new, grounds are leaf blown in the mornings, and balls and putters are in great condition. The kids have a blast here and we can spend a couple of hours trying our best to get that hole in one or fish our uncontrollable balls out if the waters. Facilities are incredibly dated despite claiming to be renovated. Mold everywhere. There are almost no lights and so if you go in the evening you'll finish in the dark. I've been to PC in Orlando and this spot is no comparison to that at all. Needs a major renovation. Also not stroller or wheel chair accessible. I really enjoyed Pirates Cove both times I went! It's great for folks of ALL ages! The mini-golf course is very well maintained. They have 2 courses in total; one with 9 holes and the other with 18 holes. I've done both courses and they were a lot of fun! The scenery is very pretty especially the waterfall. Prices are average to low and parking is FREE! There are 2 sizes of golf clubs to choose from and you can even choose the color of your ball. Honestly this is the best putt putt Georgia has to offer! This place was a hit with the kids , they seem to enjoy visiting a boat/ship shaped putt putt building with information boards /signs , pirates statues and waterfalls throughout the course . I did get an complaint about how there's no guardrail to stop the balls from going into the water and of course kids will try to get the balls out themselves if you don't stop them, the water doesn't look clean so be advised, overall I think I would take them back if they would like to return. read more

This golf course is a lot of fun. There are two sides to play. .a nine hole side if you are looking for a quicker game or an 18 hole side. There is also a deal to play both sides. We usually play both. The overall atmosphere is great -- it's a pirate ship! During your play you go around in and up on the ship. Plus it is outdoors which is great to do when the weather is nice. The kids really will enjoy it! There are often deals on Groupon so check before you go. I am giving this 3.5 stars and would definitely go to four even five stars if the upkeep was a little better. The waterways are filled with debris and need to be cleaned out. The courses need someone to go through with a leaf blower to keep sticks and other tree droppings from impeding your ball. Played a round of 18 holes and was really happy with the experience. As someone's else put it, this is how mini golf should be. The whole place has a Blackbeard pirate theme and was very well maintained. In my opinion, atmosphere matters as much as the course itself and we were quite happy. The location was filled with nice plants, decorative details, water features, and we saw ducks and crawfish in the water. Unlike some places, the clubs and balls were in great shape. Prices were very reasonable and staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. When there was some light rain we sat under some covered tables. There are plaques throughout the course which share pirate history and add to the experience. It's located off the beaten path close to a highway, but we were quite happy with the environment. The course was very cool in terms of twisting and turning through the venue but might be a challenge for people with mobility issues. Really enjoyed. read more

Pirate's Cove is a pirate-themed mini golf course. There are 27 holes total, but you can play just 9, 18, or all 27. I came here with some friends on a Saturday night and we played 18 for $7.50 per person. It's an affordable night (or day) out. First things first: at nighttime, the lighting for this course is not very good. I'd probably come in the daytime if I were you. At night, some parts of the course are completely dark so you can't even see where you're hitting. You can't tell if there are any bumps, ridges, or undulations in the surface nor can you see if there are any obstacles in your way. It's pretty annoying. Worst of all, there many places on the course where if you set up to the ball, your shadow darkens everything, so you can hardly see the ball you're hitting. Thus, they really need to do something about the lighting here. As for the course itself, as far as I could tell underneath the poor lighting conditions, it seemed to be in decent condition. The putting surface was smooth and uniform. The holes themselves weren't overly fancy or gimmicky. They were actually pretty straightforward. The trickiest shots were around bends or underneath/over obstacles. You work your way around and eventually into a small pirate ship. The final holes are on board the ship. That's kind of cool. Along the way, a river with pools and waterfalls snakes its way through the course. Water does come into play on several holes as does artificial "rough." It's mini golf, so don't expect much as far as equipment is concerned: colored golf balls and putters with heads made of rubber. Yes, the putter heads aren't real metal because they don't want you destroying the property with your swings of anger. The metal shafts look beat up and rusty and the rubber grips are sticky and falling apart. Staff is nice. Unlike a real golf course, there are no marshalls that try to keep the pace of play up here, so you'll be at the mercy of the groups in front of you. BTW, I got a hole in one on No. 13, supposedly one of the hardest holes on the course. Admittedly, it was mostly luck. read more

Finding mini golf in Atlanta has been quite the challenge. Anything fun taking up large amounts of space (i.e., go-karts) is always very much OTP, but at the very least it gives you the opportunity to indulge in your chain restaurant craving. Now, I'm no mini golf connoisseur, but Pirate's Cove was pretty freaking cool. I mean, first things first, you drive up to a giant pirate ship replica right off of I-85 . . . pirate flag flying and all. There's a 18 hole and a 9 hole course, and honestly, I was so excited to be there, I don't remember how much it cost a person to play. You won't find anything resembling a windmill here because the pirate theme here pretty much overrides any opportunity for traditional mini-golf kitch. There are a lot of water traps, but there are also some easier holes that leave you anxious for a bit more challenge. Enought pirate paraphernalia is scattered to get the theme, and watch out for the intermittent surprise spurts of water that shoot up from the 'lakes.' The best part is that the course climbs vertically, so you'll climb up stairs and finally plateau for your last hole on the top of the ship. You'll hardly notice that instead of the wild seas you're surrounded by the interstate and the Gwinnett Place Mall. Don't leave here without getting your pirate hat. . . and re-purpose it for a makeshift Halloween costume! read more

I went today with my fiancé thanks to a great Groupon deal. We were total n00bz since it was both our first times ever playing mini golf. I think that we could've been better informed by the employees since we've never done this before and we kept having to go back to the front desk to ask various questions like how to keep score or what size golf club I should get. So anyways, we played the first 9 holes then I guess there was another golf course for 18 holes. We only did that second course up to 11, I think, since we had to leave. One thing I did not like was that we had to wait for people in front of us to be done and I felt like the people behind us were just waiting too close. I like to go at my own pace with things like these and move onto the next one when I want. But we did go on a Sunday with awesome cloudy yet sunny weather so of course it'd be a bit busy. Overall, I like the layout and theme of the place. It's a very cute date idea or a great family fun activity. I'm glad I can check mini golf off my to-do list! Pirate themed + mini golf = pirates cove minigolf. I've been here several times and it always seems like one of the better minigolf places in the area. The price is cheap, you can often find discounts online so you can play 27 holes for around $20. My only gripe is that sometimes the pace of play of people in front of you is really slow. It can take over an hour/2 hours sometimes if there's a group ahead of you. It's something that's not as controllable, but I wish there were more rules around taking an appropriate time or letting people pass. read more

The course is in pretty good shape--sometimes you have to move tree debris out of your way for a clear shot--but that's not a big deal to me. You guys!!!!! I cannot say enough good things about this place. I went here as a kid and fully expected it to be in disarray when I went last week, but it looks awesome. Yes some of the mechanics/theatrical props don't 100% work, but the course is very well maintained! Out door mini golf is not so common in the Atlanta area. This location is situated right on the side of I-85, but on the majority of the holes you wouldn't even be able to tell. You enter into the large wooden pirate ship and are be guided out to the course you select by staff. There are two options 18 or 27 holes (27 highly recommend), however they're not wheelchair accessible. There are little scenes set up with pirates, skulls, cannons, and the likes. Audio is also broadcast out the the course for added entertainment - pirate banter of course. I actually went on a day where the manager opened late due to someone driving through the bushes and doing damage to the landscape, so he gave us a discount on our admission. He was so nice and you could tell he took pride in maintaining the greens. Get yer booty out to this hidden treasure and bring the kids! read more

Ahoy! Bobby & I visited Pirate's Cove last Saturday for an early afternoon round of mini golf. The course far exceeded my expectations with pirates hanging from trees, a waterfall, all on a huge pirate ship with intricately depicted scenes for each hole. The only draw back there was a massive children's birthday party going on while we were there which was really annoying because parents were not supervising their children letting them run around the course while other paying guests were trying to play mini golf. This is the perfect activity on a gorgeous day. Bobby & I even got a little competitive...I won of course thanks to my hole in one on hole 13 :) All in all, we had a fabulous time and will definitely be back even though Bobby says if I lose next time I'll have to walk the plank! read more

It's 10 on a Saturday night, you don't want to go home, but you don't want to eat or drink and the humidity quotient is less than 90%. What to do? Drive to Duluth and play mini golf, clearly. We were shocked that a lot of people had the same idea. And that's my biggest complaint about this place: it gets crowded and big groups can cause a serious backup. Perhaps they should design it so there are different places to start or that there's a limit on group number or something. Luckily, as we went through the night it spaced out a little better so we didn't have to wait quite as much and ended up having a heck of a good time. The course is clean for the most part (I'm going to ignore the rat that I saw run by at one point) and the holes are pretty easy so you don't get too down on your lack of skills. There wasn't a whole lot of creative design to the holes: I remember the putt putt of my youth having a lot more tricks and turns, but perhaps that's just nostalgia speaking. They're open till 11 on summer weekends so it's a decent late night choice, I just wish there was something closer intown. Still, I wouldn't turn my nose up at going back. Just watch out for the real-life rats and fake cannon blasts. read more

I have not been mini-golfing in YEEAARs and honestly, didn't realize we had a place to go to here in the Atlanta area! I'm used to seeing these places in more touristy towns like Myrtle Beach, Orlando, down the Jersey shore.. Pirate's Cove is a good place to take the kids. There are two or three courses to choose from. 18 holes and 27 holes ...and there's a kid's option, too. We did 18 holes that probably took 45 minutes or so, and as a group of adults, we each paid $8 and change. If you've ever been mini-golfing before in your life, this is standard. We did think that the holes were not necessarily getting harder the further we got, despite the par for each indicating otherwise. I can see having a lot more fun if we had gone drinking before we got there. We had a good time anyway considering the slight heat and repetition of actions. I think the most exciting part was when we got too close to the fabricated splash in the river. You hear the typical cartoony sound of a cannonball flying your way, and then something in the river shoots a stream into the air at unsuspecting victims. The location is great. It's right next to a hotel (if you're traveling far to get here? You are probably visiting for some other reason, if so - Gwinnett Arena is not far.) It's also a very short drive (about a mile) from a busy area with lots of shopping (a mall) and food. Recommended for families with tweens. read more

Its been a looong time since I have played mini-golf, but me and my main squeeze were bored one Friday and decided to have a suburban high-school themed date: Mini Golf and Chili's. It was about was I was expecting. Average, but fun. Same goes for Pirate's Cove. There are no super exciting gimmicky traps, which make mini golf so hilarious and fun, but there are some interesting water obstacles and a few strategically placed animatronic pirates. The prices are reasonable and the courses are clean and in very good condition (minus some storm related debris). It is quite far OTP (20-30 minutes, depending), but it seems to be your best option if you just have to get your (mini)-golf on. There is no booze allowed, but if you are a true pirate you can figure something out. I also highly recommend speaking only in pirate while on the course, it adds a certain flair, ay? I seriously wonder what happened to the really sweet mini-golf courses with crazy obstacles I remember from when I was a kid. You just don't find those anymore....sigh. read more

It was hot out and rather than lamenting the loss of the pool in my move from apartment to house, we decided to slather on the sunscreen and head up to Gwinnett for some mini-golf, er, putt putt, as the Southerners say. We played all 27 holes and had ourselves a grand ol' time. Although the course wasn't difficult, it was just difficult enough to make us competitive. If I have a complaint (and I try to think of one for reviews), it's that it's super crowded and you tend to wait, getting all sweaty, in line as your time dwindles - sometimes to the point that you aren't able to finish a game. With that said, the equipment is fine, both courses are fun (but not insane or anything), and there's a good amount of detail in the decorations. Along with that, you can send your teenagers off to watch a movie while you play with the little ones, so that's a nice bonus. read more
