Grew up going here and it's very good. Not a ton of seating and it does get really busy. The french toast and bacon is really good. The potatoes and eggs are okay. The potatoes are good with the bell peppers, onions, and cheese but I prefer crispier potatoes and when they're cut smaller, these ones are really big. They put eggs on their cheese which I like. The big breakfasts are huge and plenty to split. My fav items are definitely the french toast, pancakes, and bacon! Would love to try a breakfast burrito next time. Great location but when it comes down to the food or at least the eggs this is amateur stuff. Cool and friendly staff with food run straight to your table. Can't complain The ambiance is also unmatched, nothing beats enjoying breakfast with view of the ocean peaks in the back ground. The eggs scrambled were just improperly cooked. Overcooked in fact. And you can tell they didn't add any butter like I'd asked. :/ Melding cooks. With lowered standards this place is an easy 10/10. Pipes hasn't earned the 5 stars because the eggs weren't good. The conversation between my husband and I usually starts with one of us wanting a donut, which automatically leads us to VG's in Cardiff. But then while we're driving up there, we know how tempting Pipes is...and it's right there, so we always go to Pipes first. It's such a simple concept but the location is pretty awesome to take in the coastal air, the food is comforting and delicious, the coffee is always good and you have plenty to choose from and the staff is always friendly. My hubby got the sausage skillet which came with their famous breakfast potatoes, eggs, pieces of sausage, cheese and avocado slices on top. I went outside my usual order of the combo or burrito and instead ordered the breakfast tacos. The tacos are served 3 to an order with corn tortillas, eggs, bacon, tomatoes, onions and cilantro with a side of salsa. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu and must get a cup of coffee alongside it. Their Kona, Milky Way and Vanilla macadamia nut roasts are my go-to's. read more

Pipes is a fabulous place to go to breakfast when you are camping at San Elijo or any other time that you're up in Cardiff. Pipes is a great place to eat breakfast. Their breakfast burritos are just amazing --number one with the sausage and the avocado is a so good and large enough to split with my husband. We also enjoyed their açai bowls with the banana cut banana and the option to add peanut butter. Their egg sandwiches are also tasty. When I can pry myself from their breakfast burritos, their French toast is a solid choice. Their coffees are spot on and you have different media and dark roast options. they also have a delicious chai tea latte. Service is friendly and prompt. Dogs are welcome outside. We wandered by this cute beach-themed place on our recent getaway. You order at the counter and the man there was so kind and patient with us. He filled our coffee order and told us to come back for free refills, if we needed. We ordered the breakfast burrito #2, which was egg, bacon, potato and cheese. He asked if we wanted the hot sauce in the burrito or on the side. I found that very considerate. The burrito was huge, so I'm glad we shared it...delicious!. Pretty solid spot to grab breakfast. The food is good, the prices are decent, and it's a laid back atmosphere. We got the breakfast sandwich - overall very tasty, my only complaint is the cheese! I wish they used higher quality cheese. If I order this again, I won't get the cheese. But, a yummy sandwich nonetheless! I loved the English muffin. Okay this place is so awesome!!! If you are reading this I'm telling you come here for breakfast and look no further. We ordered the scramble and the breakfast burrito. I loved my scramble, however after trying the breakfast burrito I immediately realized I should've also gotten the burrito. This was the best breakfast burrito I've ever had! My mom said her hamburger was a 3/5. If she hadn't I would give this place a one star. The service is good and the location is amazing, ocean views!! Unfortunately the food left a lot to be disappointed over for me. I was amazed at how flavorless the eggs and potatoes in my big breakfast were. Coffee was bad but that's par for the course for most cafes. French toast tasted just ok after slathered with butter and syrup. Truly one of my all time favorite spots in Cardiff that is forever slinging a "piping" hot breakfast! I always visit Pipe's when I'm in town. It's simple and fresh breakfast food done extremely well and always served on a semi-hefty paper plate (don't say I didn't warn you about it's semi-heftiness). Ask for a piece of foil if you don't finish all your grub!! The service is laid back and friendly yet minimal - which I enjoy, quite frankly. You order at the counter and in less than 8 minutes (time it, I dare you) someone calls your name and there arrives your hangover cure. You can't go wrong with any menu item - I've had or tried (more like stole a bite of) everything on the menu. Bacon's always crispy, cheese is always melted, veggies are always fresh and the Pica salsa is always a little spicier than I remember. I drove a hour and a half to bring my dog to a specialist downtown the street and had already eyeballed this place as a potential breakfast spot but once a employee there also recommended I get breakfast there, I was sold. I grabbed the veggie scramble and a table on the patio and it was perfect! The food was VERY good and the portion was huge, definitely shareable, I was sad I had to throw almost half away since I couldn't eat it all myself and wouldn't have a fridge to store leftovers in. Would love to come back again in the future. The outside menu caught my attention as there were some yummy sounding breakfast and coffee choices. As I already had breakfast I stopped by for coffee. FYI there are two separate lines one to order food and the order for coffee. The lady taking and making the coffee orders was super friendly with a fun personality. She worked with my dairy intolerance in making the drink that I wanted. In order to make my coffee dairy free we went with the Abuelita grounded chocolate and oat milk. I know this chocolate is sweet and was hoping the coffee was strong enough to lessen the sweetness. Plan did not work out as the coffee was not strong enough and all I could taste was the Abuelita chocolate. I thought it was just my selections that made my coffee fall flat, but my other friends who also ordered coffee did not like their drinks. Can't say for sure what made all our drinks fall flat as we all ordered with different milk options and flavors. The lady taking our order was amazing so the customer service is there. If I am in the area I would try them again for breakfast food options, but not coffee. read more
