On Saturday July 4th my children arranged at birthday celebration for me at the London, ON location. There were 29 people there and so there were many different food selections. Everyone loved their food and I've heard several people say that it's their new favourite restaurant. Our waitress was Christina and we were all impressed. She was so kind and very helpful. My daughter-in-law & I both have food allergies so she made sure to point out what we could eat. Stupidly, we ignored the negative Yelp reviews, thinking that it would be fine for a family lunch on a trip through London. While it was not the worst ever, it was not fine. The main problem was the very slow service. I wish we had timed the period between getting drinks (from a very limited Pepsi-based non-alcoholic selection) and when our server returned to take our order. It was probably a full 15 minutes, during which there were no interactions at all with wait staff. When she finally came back, she acted like she had just left, with no apology. After the food was delivered (in a reasonable amount of time) by other staff members, our server reappeared one more time and I finally got a refill of my empty glass (probably 10 minutes empty). Then, no more visits until we flagged her down for the check. Then the funny part: My daughter was almost out of Pepsi and the server asked if she wanted a refill. My daughter said, "Yes, could I get a to-go cup?" Instead of bringing a regular new cup of Pepsi, the server brought back a small plastic cup, barely larger than a Dixie cup, for my daughter to pour the watered-down remains of Pepsi from her regular glass into. No "to-go drink" was offered besides that. And it was just a fountain Pepsi! The whole experience was just frustrating. They were badly short-staffed, but no one acknowledged how long everything was taking. What keeps it out of 1-star territory is that the food was solid. This has just opened in last 10 days after a long conversion from a Boston Pizza location , bar service is less than 1 week old as licence took time , so good cocktails and beer selections and Wine list . Although the beer deal $5 pints seem to be tied to a burger deal ? Maybe it's the staff understanding of the menu The Reno in side is excellent ! Clean modern bright , My wife enjoyed the naked wings ( yes with all the sauces and rubs she wants plain ) I ordered , with a very capable waitress , friendly and honest young lady , I ordered the classic burger and did the French onion soup as side All arrived via a server . The wings were good w dip and celery sticks My burger was good , thick juicy patty and Hot ! All dishes were piping hot food . My soup ? Well it needs work It looked fine with melted cheese in the crockpot bowl but the broth was suspect ? It was pale white or clear with lots of onion bits but bland , onion soup I usually find is a deep brown beef broth I think and maybe enhanced with a splash of red wine or boozed . And again it was HOT , burnt by mouth inside , dumb me eh . We tried the desert menu Carrot Cake . We can judge a good restaurant by the kitchens interpretation of a classic carrot cake . This was $10 It arrived as a thin wedge of a piece about 2 inches thick , dressed with Carmel and chocolate syrups This is not carrot cake but billed as classic and more on the menu . It was tasty but not as menu would like you to think Frankly the whole menu is likely Ai generated with surpurplus descriptions We will clearly return in a month after the many managers calm down and let the waitress do their thing as we saw and heard lots of directions given Another little thing is the waitress' have iPads attached to them , kinda clumsy thing in a tight tabled area But it's their pos program that can be viewed by managers I think read more

When you first walk in it looks good, clean and not to dark. Only seen our server as she past our table, and give us the bill. We did give her a min tip as service was minimal. We were a group of 8 and all order different food and only 2 of the 8 meals good, the rest was not great just edible. I had the club sandwiches and the bread was rock hard so could not eat it. For us we won't go back, london has much better to offer. read more

Service was awesome. I had the blackened tilapia from the lunch menu. It is great, except for the vegetables. The vegetables were cold and hard as a rock. This has become my favourite restaruant. I have been to the restaurant at least 12 times. Once I asked them to be sure to cook the vegetables longer and they still were too hard. Many of my friends have expressed the same disappointment with the vegetables. Some of my friends said they would not go back because of the hard, cold vegetables. read more

First I want to say the server Morgan was great. We have been 4 times. Three out of the four have been negative experiences. This time is the worst. my wife ordered the pot pie and it was not hot. They said they would do another one and it took too long. My wife asked for it to go. Were we compensated, not at all. I do not recommend this place. AVERAGE FOOD AND POOR, DISRESPECTFUL SERVICE - We went on a weekday to try out the $12.99 lunch specials at this new restaurant, after reviewing the menu online and seeing lots of interesting options on their large menu. DECOR - Newly renovated with lots of fake hedges and neon catchphrases, very "Instagrammable". Overall = 7/10 FOOD - We had a Teriyaki Chicken Stir Fry and the Piper's Signature Burger, from the $12.99 Lunchtime Special menu. My husband reported that the chicken dish was okay, just average and nothing special. The burger was decent (freshly made, not a frozen patty, but perhaps a bit too much filler) but the fries were lukewarm and not tasty at all. There was a good selection of dishes available for the lunch special. You are required to also purchase a drink to get the lunch specials. Overall = 7/10. SERVICE - The service was slow and not that great. Our server seemed like she bristled every time something was asked of her, and she did not seem temperamentally suited to be taking orders. It took a long time to get our drinks, the "ice water" was lukewarm, she clearly was trying to ignore our repeated requests to get an additional item from her, but eventually delivered the requested ketchup (why not ask when meals are delivered? It's not like ketchup for fries is an unusual request). Overall = 5/10, or 6/10 if you want to cut them some slack since newly opened. LAYOUT - All of the waitresses clearly have been instructed to do prep work (wrapping cutlery, etc) at the side station if they are not serving customers. The problem is that this side station is directly in front of the restroom entrance. Going to the loo involves dodging around several lounging waitstaff. Coming out was even worse as there was a gaggle of waitresses and a manager there chatting it up. My 3-4 "Excuse Me"s were ignored and I eventually had to reach out and tap them on the shoulder to let me pass - with two different people! Management, this situation really needs to be fixed, as I saw it happen repeatedly during our lunch. Overall = 3/10 PRICE - Our two $12.99 Lunch Specials somehow turned into an almost $50 bill, much to our amazement! With no alcohol, no dessert, no apps. There were the 2 required drinks (iced tea, hot tea), and a mysterious $3 upcharge for fries (even though we had specifically asked our waitress what was included for sides, AND confirmed with her). Add in tax to get to $41/42 and then with the suggested 18-20% tip you've reached $50. DISRESPECTFUL BEHAVIOR - Well that's where things got interesting, with the waitress insisting that she had told us about the $3 upcharge, and me daring to contradict her and point out that she had NOT. For the record, I don't mind paying an upcharge for something that I want and is clearly indicated as costing extra. But I do have an issue with paying extra for a small portion of lukewarm lattice fries (straight from the Sysco freezer bag/not homemade) after having asked questions twice about their inclusion. Our waitress then took on a completely snotty, overbearing tone and loudly and dramatically indicated that she WOULD GIVE US THE $3 FROM HER OWN POCKET! This statement was repeated at least 3 times in increasingly loud tones. For bonus points in this thrilling episode of Drama Queen Smackdown that we unwittingly found ourselves involved in, she had the pleasure of flouncing off to get another dollar since she only actually had $2 in her pocket, then coming back and slapping the loonie onto the table (with commentary of course). My repeated statements that this was not necessary were completely ignored because SHE HAD A POINT TO MAKE! I guess that we were cheap? That we dared to question her? IDK, just so much drama for $3, OMG! Overall = Negative 10/10 So where does that leave us? Disgusted with the disrespectful, bullying behavior, and vowing never to return. Too bad, as some of the food sounded good (British Food Night, Asian Food Night), and we would have become regular customers even at the 7/10 average food quality. If you decide to check them out, beware of upcharges and don't ever question anything (price, quality, inclusions) if you want a peaceful, pleasant meal. read more

We were at the Pipers arms London for dinner with a large group. Food and service were good although slow a good time was had by all. (3hours from entry to exit). The one thing that I did not appreciate was the 18% gratuity that was added, to the total after tax. I don't tip on tax but was not given option. read more

I went to dinner with some friends and thought I'd check out this new Pipers Arms restaurant (at the old Boston Pizza location) . The menu is extensive and appears to have something for everyone. I was pleased to find they served a Ruben sandwich (my favourite).... which they call 'Ruben the Great'. I ordered my sandwich with extra, extra sauerkraut. When my meal finally arrived it came with no sauerkraut at all. I brought this to the attention of the server who apologized and said he would bring some out for me. After another long wait the condiment arrived. The sandwich at this point was old and the minimal meat was now cold, even the sauerkraut was not enough to bring it to life. Thinking to myself this was an anomaly, and not wanting to make a fuss I simply and quietly ate most of my sandwich and then asked for the bill. When I got the bill I found that I was charged for the sauerkraut as a 'side dish'. I brought this to the attention of the server who said the manager makes them charge for things like this. I paid the bill (including an underserved tip), and left. The next day I wrote to the manager an email explaining what I experienced and gave them an opportunity to respond. I was given the ole 'sorry about your bad experience.... better luck next time' (my words) response. The email was signed 'Piper Management'.... the name of the manager was not even included in this dismissive response. I'm disappointed and surprised at this response along with my meal. You'd think that a relatively new restaurant would be more customer responsive. Apparently not. read more
