Placed an order between 12-100pm. for 4pm delivery order arrived and 1 of the pasta dishes was completely dry. No liquid whatsoever. Called the restraint to ask for the sauce for the pasta. Was told it would be sent out. Waited for a while then had a "Manager" of the location call to ask me for details, then he told me it was too late to send out a replacement but I could have a credit. At this time the second pasta dish, for my 86 yr old mother was cold and dry. Mussels, scallops and shrimp rubbery. The "manager" told me to call in the morning and talk to his Manager whose name is "BOB". He was not forthcoming with any more information. No last name, no number. I asked for Regional Managers # and he said he didn't have it, then hung up on me. Pathetic response but expected from entry level "managers". First time I have had issues with ESMs. Hopefully, this "manager" will finish school soon and give position over to a more approachable person. Wasted money. read more

Had a take out today, worst experience ever. Had food at East side Mario many times but not lately. So I decided to take my favorite sea food linguine and Italian sausage penne, wow I was shocked. Fake crab meat, sauce with no flavor, sausage not cooked. It's like someone got pasta from the fridge, cut of some sausage added few veggies and toast it around in a canned sauce and put it in microwave for few minutes. I will never again eat at this place and would not recommend it to anyone. Live and learn, what happened to this place, used to be amazing food. read more

The Management of this location is leading a very sloppy operation. We waited over an hour for our food to come out, and the waitresses were not very sympathetic. Our kids' food came out 10 minutes after our entree. The food was mediocre and it looks like the staff hate their jobs... and it shows in the service you receive. We went for lunch this afternoon and needless to say the experience wasn't the best. The waiter was very friendly and was always around to refill our drinks or offer more bread and salads. He did a good job. Unfortunately I cannot say the same for the food. I got the chicken parmigiana and it is not worth 18,99$. The pasta was ok. It was more raw then cooked and the chicken. Well let's just say the chicken was better to be tossed out then eaten. A lot of the chicken was very rubbery and seemed frozen at certain parts of the it. I thought the waiter was going to reduce some of the price. But he didn't. Would of been a kind gesture but there are worst things in the world to be upset about. My girlfriend had the pasta with muscles for 10$. She said it was ok adding that she wouldn't order it again or recommend it to someone else. The salad was ok. Purchased a group meal for family but did not receive enough to feed even 4 persons despite the claim that it is for 6 to 8 people. When I called to advise they said too bad that was the right portion size. I disagreed having ordered this several times over the last year, and was effectively called a liar. The service from every person employed here was terrible, right from the start. The waitress brought one tiny loaf of bread for 4 adults and one child. When the waitress brought our order she tried to pass a pizza over the head of a one and a half year old from the other end of the. Thinking that if my grandson reached up and knocked the pizza onto him he could have been burnt, but the pizza was far from hot. He might have suffered freeze burn. My wife ordered a pasta with chicken in it. The chicken was cubed and did not even taste like real chicken. She asked for ceasar salad with no bacon in it and she was brought one with bacon in it. I had the Hawaiian pizza and it was absolutely the worst pizza I ever had, cold, not fresh at all, barely any cheese on it and absolutely no taste of anything. The manager came over and I told him as much and he really did not understand what I was saying. Simply the worst pizza ever and I didn't want another one made or take his offer up of pasta which from my wife's pasta, no way I was going to have that. My wife asked for desert and the waitress brought a kids gelato tube for her. Still only one mini bread loaf for the five of us to the table even after asking for more. Waitress brought another bacon caesar salad for my wife after again being told no bacon. I enjoy going to east sides for the build your own pasta with unlimited soup or salad & garlic loaf. This is the usual choice of place for my friends and I to go too. The menu has tons of options to pick from if you're in the mood to change it up. Although the last time I was here the waiters were having arguments with each other that was quite uncomfortable to be so close too and kind of ruined the experience. It's definitely a good idea to call ahead to reserve a table because the wait can get busy especially on the weekends. read more

Used to love East Side Mario's, but sadly it's gone downhill in recent years. The heat wasn't working and half the patrons were wearing their coats. The restaurant and washrooms were filthy. The food was bland, and mine was served cold, and way over priced (paid $70 for mediocre dinner for my 12 year old son and I). Our salad arrived after our meal had already been served. I was a bit surprised to see a low rating for a Mario's but after our dinner I can understand it. I've never been unhappy with food or service at any other Mario's we've been too so this is definitely an odd one out. We will not be returning to this particular restaurant in the future. The food was not what we expected, my tetrazzini was very bland and my husbands sausage penne was extremely spicy and skimpy on the sausage. Our server didn't seem very happy and was in a hurry to be away from our table even with a barely half full dining room. She was very quick to take our plates without offering to go boxes for our left overs and didn't acknowledge us when we paid and left. This place is really hit or miss. Tonite was a big miss We had a fairly simple order. 2 pastas and a child's pepperoni pizza. And of course all you can eat garlic loaf and salad It wasn't too busy as there were some free tables so the food shouldn't take long. It took almost 25 minutes for our pasta to come to the table. Which okay. I understand if you're busy. But whatever. We started to eat thinking our child's food would be here soon We were so wrong. 18 minutes later my daughters food showed up. Meanwhile she had been eating off of our plates. Which isn't a big deal. Then they offered the desert that comes with the kids meal. Instead of answering I simply asked for a box for the uneaten pizza and then answered. Hoping this would make my point about it being so long. We were explained there was a new kitchen staff in charge of bread and pizza. Who really apparently dropped the ball. The best part is. I did the survey and then when I tried to speak to a human they dismissed the claim and said someone would call me back in 48 business hours lol So I called the restaurant and asked for a manager. A friend and I met here for dinner. We waited about 20 minutes to be seated. My friend ordered the Amatriciana with no chicken and no bacon. I ordered the regular Amatriciana. Our waitress came with bread, but we had no knives and no plates. She then took our order, and we were supposed to get Caesar salad. Our salad took a long time to come out and was served to us in a very tiny portion, so the waitress offered to get us more. As we were eating it, our Amatriciana came out and my friend's had chicken and bacon in it, even though she asked for it not to. Our second salad came out and her new dinner at the same time. One of the most problematic dining experiences I've ever had. As a server, I'm extremely lenient when it comes to questionable and sub par service, but our server was next level. She visibly couldn't care less about actually serving us with eye rolls and everything, forgot multiple things (like cheese, a salad refill etc), barely spoke a word to us, very clearly didn't want to be there, and while we were waiting to ask for the bill, she had sat down in the dining area, completely out of sight! The food was flavourless at best and I'm laying in bed right now fighting an aggressive stomach ache. Would NOT recommend to anyone...too bad because it's an aesthetically pleasing place but the moody and overall sucky staff really ruin it. read more

We have always loved east side - shout out to North Bay franchise which has set the bar high. Do not expect same quality, service or taste from east side in Newmarket on Yonge street. No manager even visible - servers seem to lack basic training and food came out at all different times for each of us throughout. Sabotaged by a bad hostess and sunk by a bad waitress. We were told it would be 20 minutes to get a table for our largish group, it took far longer than that. And it was not worth the wait as it was not actually a table intended for a large group, but two 4-tops shoved together to "accommodate" 9 people. Let's do the math shall we, 4+4 doesn't equal 9 does it? So we were crammed in like sardines. The waitress took our drink order and had managed to forget someone's order before she even got all the way around the table. When she brought the drinks she managed to hand out 2 drinks before pouring the rest of them over a sleeping baby. She then returned to take meal orders while one member of the party was outside the restaurant dealing with the wet stroller. And if pouring drinks over a sleeping baby wasn't enough, she followed up by sprinkling shredded cheese over the other baby in our party. Why she couldn't walk around the table instead of reaching over sleeping infants is beyond me. Most of the food was acceptable, but when we ordered "macaroni and cheese" for my toddler, instead of getting what one would expect, we got breaded, deep fried patties of macaroni served over fries. It looked more like fish sticks than macaroni, and wonder of wonders, the toddler refused to eat it. The waitress had advised us that it was "baked", I never would expect this. And from a restaurant that serves pasta no less? Just boil some noodles and toss some cheese on them! The chocolate cake my toddler got for dessert was so tasteless that she chose to eat only the whipped cream on top. How bad does cake have to be for a toddler to push it aside? About 6 month ago or more I ordered some cheese capeletti from the east side Mario's on Bayfield street in Barrie. I found a staple in my food and normally I don't camplain if it's a hair but I staple! C'mon. I decided to say something. So after 6 months they sent me 3 gift cards worth 10 bucks each which I have to use all separately and in store. First time out for dinner since covid mess. Should have stayed home. The service was terrible. Bread came, then salad after we had eaten the bread. Asked for salad refills and more bread. One came when we had eaten the other. Everything seemed an inconvenience. Bread refill, salad refill, parm, cream for coffee, water etc. Didn't want to ask for salt and pepper - it would have been another trip. My husband's chicken parm was burnt. Even offered us a takeout ice cream sunday for our Mom living in LTC home down the street since DQ was a ways away. BB answered quickly to all our needs in a very polite way. Very little salad. Pasta wasn't completely tossed so almost half of it was hard and dried out. To order online you cant be very detailed about you want. The sauce wasn't very good. My boyfriend and I are both in the industry. He works back of house, and I'm a server, so literally we give everyone the benefit of the doubt- but tonight was rough. The manager sat us instantly in a nice booth in the dining room- it was a ghost town, so we figured we just wrecked a servers night who was probably all set to go home. So we planned our orders well in advance to help. We ordered our drinks and after several minutes the manager re appeared to ask if our server had come to us- we said she had. Five minutes later our drinks arrived. Our re fill of salad and bread came the same time as our entrees despite the fact we placed our empty bowls and bread wood on the edge of the table for our server to see. If we had seen her in our service we would've asked for refills; but again, being a server I figured she was tied up elsewhere (in a dead restaurant... but again benefit of the doubt) Our meals were subpar, not sure the $65 bill was entirely worth it; needless to say even the AYCE bread and salad didn't save the night. read more

As a client rep and working as a server in our family restaurant businesses for MANY years I realize that the customer is definitely not always right. For this reason I am extremely empathetic toward employees that deal with GQ public. That being said, I ordered delivery (nervous due to covid-19 and 1st time since Feb. as a bday treat for me and my sons). It arrived with the pizza box looking used and a faint smear (looked like blood!) where you'd place your fingers to open it. $6.99 for literally a cup of tomato soup (I measured) with small container arriving 2/3 full). Paid for 2 chicken breasts on the side with Alfredo pasta and it looked like barely 1 was chopped in. I took pictures immediately before even opening anything and called client care. Cara cust service rep apologized and rushed a redo order. Within a minute they called to say the Restaurant has refused to redo the order. They insisted the amounts of food were more than adequate and the smear was pizza sauce!!! I see all these bad reviews on here now with similar complaints as mine and am disappointed they chose to handle it this way. Very poor customer service and extremely poor bang for your buck. You can get far more value for your money almost anywhere else. Threw the food out as I could not trust it and risk virus contamination. I have been serving in the food industry for over 6 years. I understand it isn't easy to keep everything clean and tidy especially when you're busy. When my boyfriend and I walked in, I noticed the cobwebs hanging from the signs and ceiling fixtures as well as a coat of dust on every ledge. I witnessed a bartender with cutting gloves on handle dirty menus and then handle bar fruit, a host hang up the phone which fell into the garbage and then got hung up again, and the bathroom my boyfriend used was "trashed". This was enough for us to leave after 20 minutes of waiting for a seat as we had seen enough. I am generally a fan of ESM's food and I really hope they clean the place up or train staff proper food/cleaning practices so we can come back. read more

While I'm only giving them 3 stars, this eatery can be a hit or a miss, depending on how busy they are, and what you order, if very busy sometimes you can run into problems, food takes 2 long 2 arrive or when it does it comes 2 u cold... My wife and I both enjoy just a plain old, nothing adventurous, spaghetti and meatballs, and their salads and bread, and a non alcoholic beer which I enjoy... This time we lucked out and everything went just fine, meal was great and service was very attentive, ... In all fairness, whenever we did run into a problem, they did make restitution, it may not be the best italian eatery in town , it's far from being the worse, because it's always so busy, being a family style restaurant as well a sports bar, you never know, but 4 decent quality food, my opinion is it's still a decent place 2 have an enjoyable meal with family or friends. read more

Food is low quality. Spent $50 for two which could of got us most of a meal at the keg, milestones, etc. or all you can eat sushi. For example, the Philly cheese steak sandwich is made from the same free garlic bread and has a small amount of meat and cheese. $13. Hop over to Quiznos and get a 12 inch Philly combo for about the same price and it's much much much better and more substantial. Pasta is meh but a good amount of meat in it. Service is OK tho, our guy was nice and let us share one persons all you can eat bread and salad. read more
