Consistently good food with a really nice atmosphere in the restaurant. Make sure you book a reservation. Servers are friendly but with that millennial kind of vibe where you almost have to win them over. The tables are very close together, maximizing every square inch allowed for seating by the fire code. It's dark and moody in there which adds to the experience. If you go on a cold night, don't sit by the front door or even by the windows you can feel the draft. I had the trout the first time it was phenomenal. Steak Frites also very good. And the gnocchi. The most delicious cappuccinos to follow. They brew ACE coffee I believe. Reasonably priced given the standard of dining and ambience. Parking is difficult. Incredible! This place is tiny, especially now during covid. It only has 4-5 spots to sit indoors and 2 tables with a fire pit in the middle for outside. The service and ambience is excellent. I love the happy hour drink specials, it made it that much more worth it and affordable. But the real star of the show is the short rib! WOW! Went for dinner last week for my birthday with two friends. We had reserved a table and ordered appies and dinner. We were enjoying our visit and decided to order dessert. As we were almost finished dessert we were told that people were waiting for our table. Never were we told when reserving to make sure you are out by a certain time. This is never happened ever in my lifetime or in my friends. Totally ruined the atmosphere of a fun night that we were having. Small quaint but trendy restaurant off Whyte Ave. parking all along side streets. Walk in and be greeted by very friendly staff. Small bar with seating, window seating and small tables for dining. Amazing food. Went for brunch ( can make reso only for dinner) and lucked out with a table in the corner. All sorts of customers: students, professionals, family. We had our Valentine's Day brunch with baby and able to bring in car seat. Our stroller prob wouldn't have fit but we did see one family with a small stroller parked by the kitchen. Hubby and I shared both veggie and braised beef Benny with their home made Hollindaise sauce. Tasty! They have specials which look just as appetizing. The first time I went to Pip was with some friends on a Saturday morning and we were prepared to wait as their brunch is really popular. We did get a really nice table eventually and ordered some cocktails and egg benedicts, avocado toast and eggs bocconcini. Their drinks were fantastic, I believe my favourite is called the Sassy & Classy. The eggs Benedict was great, I especially loved the hash browns. The hollandaise sauce was not my favourite. I had ordered the fennel sausage on the side which was delicious! The decor of this location is adorable. It has a teal/grey colour scheme and bar is pretty enough for photographing. I checked out PIP a few weeks ago and I have to say it's such a cute and cozy brunch spot! PIP is owned by The Next Act and Meat, and it's located right beside The Next Act. It kinda reminds me of Daniel Costa's restaurants on Jasper Ave - all right beside each other. "The outside looks like a simple and unassuming joint with its dark exterior and pineapple logos placed on its windows. However, once entered, you are washed over with vibes of coziness and charm that fits Old Strathcona" (Steph's Friend, 2017). Side note: I'm going to be quoting my friend that ate me with me throughout this review. PIP is one of the few eateries in the city to serve brunch everyday. Yes, everyday. The only other place in the city that I can think of with weekday brunch is Under The High Wheel. Now you don't have to wait until the weekend to eat the best meal of the day! Let me warn you though, there are only 28 seats in PIP and they don't take reservations. Their daily brunch hours are 9 AM to 3 PM so if you want a table without waiting for a while, it's best to come early or come late. I came around 1:30 PM and only had to wait around 10 minutes for a table. We did get seated at the bar first but eventually an actual table cleared up so we moved there. Their brunch menu is quite simple, with most items containing an egg(s) - DUH! For those who want lunch rather than brunch, there are soups, salads, and grilled cheese sandwiches. Is this the first ever brunch place to serve grilled cheese possibly? For myself, I ordered the avocado toast. This is one of my favourite brunch items and also one of the only items I can make at home, sadly. The avocado toast at PIP is served on sourdough bread and comes with 2 strips of bacon, as well as a poached egg on top (YAS, EGG PORN). Crushed chillies are sprinkled on top but it wasn't spicy, which I was thankful for. The chillies added a bit of savoury flavour to the freshness of the avocado. The toast was served with their house-made hash, which was simply one of the best hash I have tried. And this is coming from a potato connoisseur, aka myself. The potatoes were soft yet slightly crispy, and seasoned perfectly. My friend ordered the Traditional Eggs Benedict, which I had heard many good things about. I personally didn't order this because I'm not the biggest fan of Eggs Benny overall. "The Traditional Eggs Benedict was exactly what you needed for that late morning meal. The dill hollandaise had a nice balance of tang and creaminess that worked perfectly with the poached egg, sourdough, and sliced ham. House hash was seasoned well and added the cherry on top of my meal" (Steph's Friend, 2017). We also decided to share the grilled cheese between both of us because who can really resist grilled cheese? The grilled cheese was served on the same local sourdough bread as my avocado toast with aged cheddar in-between. You can't really go wrong with making grilled cheese, can you? It also comes with a side of either house salad, soup, or hash. We got the house soup, which is a tomato basil soup with grilled cheese croutons. Oh my. The only downside was that the croutons got soggy if you didn't eat the soup right away. The grilled cheese wasn't outstanding or anything but this would be the perfect comfort dish, especially on cold winter days (which Edmonton doesn't seem to be having this year). PIP should be on your brunch list if you haven't stopped by already. Their dinner menu also tempts me so I'll probably be back to check that out! Well this place exceeded exceptions. Met a friend for brunch and was excited to try the new kid on the block. Pip's been open for a cool two weeks so I expected a few kinks but I enjoyed it SO MUCH! As soon as I walked in, I was greeted with a smile and given a cosy spot to sit. Every seat is cosy in Pip, it's super teeny tiny but that part of the charm. I'm not the biggest fan of their sister restaurant The Next Act but at the moment I'm all about Pip! The menu is so sweet and covers all the bases from meat lover, sweet tooth, veggie options and for me avocado toast (every time)! They don't have breakfast tea but the Earl Grey was lovely and they also offer a few mimosas too. I opted for the cranberry which was really yummy along with my meal. The poached eggy was perfectly soft and paired with a slightly lemony avocado mash, and the most flavourful bacon I've had in ages. Simply divine. The decor is sweet with vintage green tiles, coffee machine and ceramic teapots that all match. The tile in here also make a feature wall, which is beautifully highlighted by the artwork too. This is my first experience with Pip and will be the last. It really takes a lot out of me to put in a bad review but I definitely was pushed into making this one. I'm sure the food would of been amazing however the first impression really put a sour taste in my mouth. We walked in the restaurant to a full place. The first host was nice and said we couldn't wait around for the table and that we will receive a text once a table was available. When I got the text and I came back they mentioned it would be a little longer because I missed the 15 minute window. Which was fine because it was mY fault. However there was another host who grumpily said "you guys have to wait outside" in the -15 weather lol. I'm reading the past bad reviews and it looks like I'm not the only one who thinks so. The host is the first encounter to any restaurant. Clearly the this needs to be improved on. If you ever want to try this place, hopefully the grumpy host wakes up on the right side of the bed. read more

I ASURE you this all melts into the background once you take your seat and are presented your menu. The experience becomes a little exciting thanks to the ease of great staff & the mixologist! Despite the flow of guests in this small space they moved fluidly between everyone smiling and having fun. PIP is in the hub of White Avenue activity. Parking is the challenge if you don't know where to do it. A little preplanning goes along way with any visit to this area. There is both street parking and paid parking lots, go early to ensure you secure something. Depending on the time of day your competition is Strathcona market or White Avenue's nightlife. We arrived at 11 AM on Saturday, Knowing we would be added to a list of names and expected a wait time about lease 30 due to the popularity and location of pip. TIP: Pip does not take reservations. We were given a wait time of 45 minutes to an hour. Our names were taken and a text was provided upon our table being ready which gave us an opportunity for a Starbucks and some pre-shopping. I hate to say you may need to eat before you go and eat. But you may.... depending on how long the wait time is you may luck out and get seated right away keep this in mind. It's always exciting to look at a menu and want to order several dishes immediately because you simply can't choose one !!! Have to be honest, before went there for dinner I thought I was going to spend lots of money and leave hungry. I was wrong. Portion size was perfect. I left full, but not that stuffed feeling gross feeling. The menu is small but a great variety. There were 4 of us for dinner and we all ordered something different, and everyone was super impressed with what they got. We had two different chicken plates, the salmon feature and the braised beef. Everything was cooked perfect, zero complaints. The drink list is also pretty big with lots to choose from, and a couple of great beers were on tap. The actual space is very small, but to our surprise it was quiet enough to carry on a conversation, but not so quiet you can here the people beside you. The staff was great, bathrooms were very clean and the service was perfect. Great place to go for a date or with a small group of friends. Make a reservation to ensure a table. I've had brunch at Pip quite a few times but recently I had the pleasure of trying their dinner. Pip is quite small so definitely plan ahead and make a reservation. They don't have much of a waiting area so if there isn't a table available, you might end up literally waiting out in the cold. The benefit of the small size is that no matter where you are seated, the restaurant feels warm and cozy. The restaurant has a fairly small menu but still has quite a few options for vegetarians. I'm obsessed with their Eggs & Bocconcini for brunch. Exactly as it sounds, this dish is eggs and bocconcini cheese smothered in tomato sauce with a side of toast. I've never seen anything like it on other brunch menus, and I am well-versed in brunch. It is a must-try dish. For dinner I shared the spicy cauliflower starter. This vegan option finds a great balance between spicy, salty, and creamy. As for entrees? I can't recommend the mushroom orzo enough! I loved the salty-creamy flavour of the orzo with just the right amount of lemon and garlic. One of the real highlights of Pip are their drinks. For brunch you can treat yourself to a mimosa with fresh juice and for dinner I highly recommend the Black Manhattan. Pip's twist on this classic cocktail includes the addition of house cherries. Yum! Service here is always excellent. Pip is a great place for a date night or to bring out-of-towners if you want to showcase Edmonton's vibrant food scene. read more

Well designed to accommodate as many as possible in the small space. Modern and fun. I ordered the ricotta toast and bacon. I was gonna go for the French toast, but decided to be adventurous. FINALLY got into Pip this weekend. Husband and I had planned on an all-day expedition to find the perfect coat rack, which we desperately needed. We'd planned on going out for lunch, but it being earlier than we planned, we decided to do breakfast instead. I suggested we try to see what the wait was like at Pip. I'd heard good things! The waiter thought it would be about 20 minutes or so, but said they could text us when our table was ready. We checked out the Farmers Market, and it came open sooner than expected. We both ordered lattes, which came out strong and hot. Our waiter was conscientious and polite, and our food came out remarkably quick. We both had the Short Rib Benedict with potatoes. OMG, y'all. That dill-flavoured Hollandaise is SO scrumptious I could drink a pitcher of it. The meat was melt-in-your-mouth good, and the caramelized onion gave it the slightest bit of sweetness. The sourdough base was a nice change from the usual English muffin. It is a very small place, so my only complaint was that it was a bit noisy. But that Hollandaise though... DROOL. Well first off, I love this waitlist feature through the Yelp app. What a great thing for restaurants to take advantage of. I'm a big fan. Now... Pip itself was pretty good. Not great, but pretty good. the Cold Shoulder brunch beverage is delicious though. I would drink those all day. Espresso, Milk, Amaro, and vanilla. A delightful cold coffee drink with a zing. My guest had a cup of coffee and was thoroughly impressed with it. I had scoped out the menu and the pictures on Yelp before arriving and the avocado toast looked amazing, so that's what i went with. The egg was poached perfectly, but there was not much flavour through the dish unfortunately :( I wouldn't order it again, but the bacon was good! The Sweet French Toast Bake was AMAZING, but I definitely could not eat a whole order on my own. Very rich and very sweet. I am only giving this place 3 stars - but it is brand new...so I am going to go again in a few months and give it another chance. Service was great - very friendly and super helpful. The decor was nice and cosy! As for the food. It was very close to being awesome, but I found they didn't quite hit the mark. The citrus salad was huge pieces of orange and grapefruit, which I usually enjoy, but in this case, the dressing was a little too delicate to stand up to the bold flavours. I think it would have been outstanding with the citrus fruit taking more of a backseat on a bed of butter lettuce. This would also help the dressing as it didn't really stick to the fruit, but would stick to the greens nicely. We also ordered the eggs and bocconcini, which was like shakshouka, but a lot less flavorful than I was expecting. The bread it was serves with chewy and delicious.
