I've had some really great salads here over a few years and they used to have my favorite beer, but yesterday was different. As a chef and culinary graduate I have been a part of the restaurant business in many facets since the 1980's. Now in my 70's and living in Florida I enjoy going out to eat while enjoying the beverage of my choice. As a former beer drinker I now enjoy a zero alcohol beer like Heineken 0.0 or any other. Most places carry one of these beers because I am not alone and it's the same price as any other bottled beer. Piola doesn't carry any such thing. So, I brought 3 of my own, being perfectly willing to pay a bottle charge of say $20. They do have such a service for people who bring their own bottle of wine. Instead of treating me with respect as a customer and negotiating this, they told me I could finish the one I had opened but no others, end of negotiations. I was there with a group of 8 friends called Cat Friends of Hallandale. This was supposed to be my last good meal before my upcoming hip surgery and now I was no longer happy about eating there! So, I didn't. The organizer of our group was picking up the tab, but with me it was a matter of principle. I think the situation should've been handled differently, as in accommodating in order to make the customer feel welcome and comfortable. I was willing to do what it would take to have my zero beer and a great meal, but they were not of that mindframe. By the way, we were there at noon and the only full table at that time, so this shouldn't have been difficult. read more

Their customer service and food quality is the worst I have ever e countered. I actually spoke to a manager and she was worst then her employees. I ordered on Uber eats and only half the order was sent. Called 3 times the 1st time they told me they would send it the 2nd time they told me that it was not their fault but that of the uber delivery that only took half the order and proceeded to hang up on me . And last the manager was the worst she should really be fired as she is no example for her employees. The food it self is tasteless and it was sent with no utensil nor napkins the bag was openned.. Went back a Saturday night . Food light and tasty . More choices on the menu. Very attentive service. A little noisy with a sports game on a central tv. Plus there were digs barking inside the restaurant . I love my dogs but think friendly to dogs means they eat outside unless they are service dogs or the restaurant is almost empty or we're in France. read more

Piola in Hallandale is a good place to stop before (or after) hitting the races at Gulfstream park, considering that the Village of Gulfstream doesn't offer much in terms of food, at least compared to a few years ago. The food was pretty good, from the salad to the pizza to the pasta dishes. Service can at times be on the slow side, but no big deal. My pappardelle alla Bolognese were well done, tasty and the pasta al dente, as it should be. Pizza is also good, Italian style, so light to digest. Cocktails are a bit on the light side, but I could say that about 90% of places in South Florida. Definitely it's our go-to-place when we are near Gulfstream Park. Great service and staff! Regular Pizza looks great! However, if you are gluten free unfortunately I cannot recommend getting the gluten free pizza. 30 dollars for a 2/5 (and that's being generous), sadly not worth it. Delivery experience** My friends made me a T-shirt that said "it's Cesar o clock" because I'm always eating Cesar salads. So naturally I ordered one here and let me tell you this is the first salad I have ever fought over! It made the top three Cesar salads I've ever had in my life list! My daughter and I were fighting over the next fork full. The dressing was . Yes the pizza was thin and delicious but don't y'all sleep on that salad now! AWESOME PERSONAL PIZZAS!! so many pizzas to choose from and theyre all very reasonably priced. the pizza is super thin and made with good ingredients. got a variety of pizzas: Hollywood pizza, diavola pizza, and margherita. all of them were really good! the margherita didn't have as much sauce as normal marghertias have. i also wish it had a little bit more basil. overall everything was really good and would go back!! read more

I haven't been here in years. So when we were headed from the beach on hallandale and we passed here I had to recommend we stop. I was so glad we did. I do feel the food is a little pricey but the quality and flavor is all there! We had two delicious cocktails, along with a fresh pineapple and mint juice. A goat cheese and arugula salad. It was exactly what I was craving. The Pappardelle Bolognese was so good. I didn't know I needed this in my life. My cousin met us here and he had the meatballs and burrata. Just one word - AMAZING The pizza is so delicious and authentic Italian. The size of the pie is rather individual. We tried the capricciosa and Napoli. Both were perfect - the dough is thin and tasty, just the right amount of toppings. We also had a few Italian beers. Our bill was more than reasonable. The takeout (doggy) box won me over! The service was not so perfect, I believe the server forgot about us, she was very surprised when we tracked her down... I'm willing to let it go considering everything I said above. This place is buzzing. Every time I come here there's usually a 5 to 10 minute wait. From Monday through Wednesdays they do a special, which they offer pizza entrées after 4 PM for $6.90 after 5 PM for $7.90 and after 6:00 PM for $8.90 which is awesome!! My go to Pizza is usually the Rio de Janeiro which is shredded chicken with Catupiry cheese, it's phenomenal! It is a little heavy but if you want something that's a little lighter try the Burrata pizza. Piola is a great place for a reasonable family meal. When we dined there early in the evening there were lots of families with young kids. I guess one of the reasons is that most if their menu consists of pizza....and what kid doesn't like pizza! The pizzas are 12 inch thin crust and there are about 30 varieties from which to choose. Husband's go to is the Carbonara with ham, bacon, and grated Parmesan cheese. I think the pizza here is good....nothing to really rave about but it is solid. On our visit our table shared a couple of appetizers. The Valle Dei Templi, with Burrata, Prosciutto, and tomatoes was great for sharing. It was not the best burrata I have had but it was good. We also shared some meatballs which were very good. It is really not easy to eat healthy here but I tried by ordering a Macchu Picchu Salad with chicken breast, quinoa, arugula, olives, tomatoes, cucumber, and olive oil. The olive oil was the only dressing it was served with but with a pinch of salt and pepper, this salad really worked for me. On the other side of the spectrum, my 14 year old went with the Fusill Blanco: pasta with broccoli in a cream sauce. I could tell he was not too thrilled with it as he took half of it home. I usually go to the one on Sheridan but it was closed today so I went to the Hallandale location and it sucked. The food was great but tge service was really bad. Four employees were just sitting around and talking loudly while one waiter was taking everyone's orders and working the floor. I wish I got the guy's name because he was the only one working while the other employees obviously didn't care. It was busy and he did the best he could so I gave him a good tip. The pizza here is AMAZING!!! Their prices are pretty high, so expect to pay a good amount. It's a fairly small location, very hip. Their decor is a mix of euro Asian. Quick service, both from inside and outside. The bartenders are extremely nice, especially the young lady with short hair (Russian). We tried the Montavo and the Piola pizza. Both were delicious, especially the montavo. All the ingredients were fresh and well seasoned. We ordered a side of guacamole dip with breadsticks. I had 1/2 the pizza and about a 1/3 of the pasta dish. I was so full, bursting at the seams. My fella, however, is a human garbage disposal and he wished the pizza had been larger, though I know his greedy ass was full after all that! Our total bill was $42, which could be a lot for just two items, but that was also including the delivery fee, tax, and tip for the DoorDash driver, so the food only actually cost $29, which I'd be happy to pay in person. Do not order TO-GO from this place during the quarantine!! I wish I would have noticed the other reviews pointing out the frozen food problem with this place. I understand restaurants are running on skeleton crews and making cut backs but this pizza was completely unacceptable. We called to inform them that it was partially frozen and they told us to complain to uber eats instead.. What part of frozen are you not understanding? We love Piola Pizza. It's delicious every time we try it. I placed an order through the Piola app and entered the specific instructions for a pick up at the specific time. I followed up with the phone call right after, stressing the importance of the pick up time. Still the pizzas were made right away, way ahead of the requested pick up time. This place has the best customer service! There was confusion with my online order and it wasn't processed. I had the same name as a different order so when I called I thought it was my order. I noticed an hour later that my pizza was never delivered and called to ask for an update. It was a few minutes before closing and any other business would have not answered the phone. They answered the phone and also told me they would make the pizza. I got there 15 minutes after closing and I am so grateful to the manager and the Piola team for their kindness! read more
