No complaints on their signature waffle cut, BBQ seasoned fries, fried pickles or massive albeit over cooked burgers (ordered mid rare, came out well done as per usual in Hawaii restaurants). Bartenders are eager to share their knowledge, make suggestions, provide free samples, all while delivering amazing customer service ie, offering to hold one of our parties open beer in the cooler until she was ready to drink the rest. Bourbon old fashioned was on the sweet side. New old fashioned is very, very sweet. Bright and sunny was a nice refresher- kinda tropical with a ginger kick. Menu has a curated selection of bites and mains. We enjoyed the mushroom crostini and the salty fried pickles with our drinks. Service is quick, friendly. Walking in on a Friday at 5 was no problem. I came here for brunch this past Saturday and honestly, this place is ok. This rating is also just off the BRUNCH food. The ambiance was really cool with the huge wall of alcohol behind the bar. It was empty so service was fine. The brunch menu is kind of small and nothing really stood out to me to wanting to really try. I opted for the Monte Cristo because it sounded interesting - deep fried sandwich basically. I honestly didn't know what to expect flavor-wise. It was like eating a regular turkey sandwich (I subbed for no ham, all turkey), with really sweet batter and really sweet berry compote. It wasn't really a great combo in my opinion but that's just me. Friends got the fish and chips which is always good. The fish was soft and moist and had all the condiments fish and chips need to have. Other friend got the frittata and she said it was also just ok. I know they're known for their alcohol so I went with a brunch must have, lilikoi mimosa, and it was honestly one of the better mimosas I've had. Perfect balance of lilikoi and champagne. Overall, again this place is ok. My friend said their dinner menu is better which I believe. The world food travelers stopped off at Pint & Jigger in the Ala Moana Hotel. It took a while to find the place ... the male half of the duo doesn't ask for directions and the better half was given erroneous information. It's in the Kona Tower of the hotel on the ground floor. We were seated at the left end of the main room, just before an area that can be curtained off for private parties, on a bar seating. The drink menu (the larger of the two) is in various fonts and it took us a while to find suitable cocktails. We prefer a bottle of red but there weren't any on the menu and I didn't ask. So, a Moscow Mule for the lady and a Hendricks gin & tonic for me. We ordered the Brandy and Bacon Strawberries, Pan Roasted Brussel Sprouts and the Marrow of Bone (2 bones) to start. The strawberry dish arrived first ... It looked like dessert. Pieces of strawberries and bacon in a brandy sauce with a dollop of strawberry mascarpone. The bacon was delicious! The pan roasted Brussel sprouts arrived next and they were sweet and well charred. The sauce from the strawberry dish was great on the Brussel sprouts. The bones were petite; we've had larger at other places for less money. They were accompanied by eight pieces of toasted baguette with shredded pecorino cheese atop. This dish was fine but not special. Another drink was followed by the Whiskey Flambéed Mushrooms and the Mesquite BBQ flavored Waffle Fries. The mushrooms tasted like escargot; we liked this dish! The fries tasted exactly like BBQ potato chips. I never use ketchup but the Mesquite BBQ powder on the fries made the ketchup taste like BBQ sauce. We topped off our meal with the Chocolate Stout Bread Pudding. It came with pieces of candied bacon and some kind of clotted cream on top. I don't like bread pudding but I loved this one. Final thoughts ... I wish we had a larger table to make it easier to place our food and drinks. The food is interesting in a good way. My least favorite dish was the bone marrow; mainly because there wasn't enough marrow in the petite bones. (I only needed one piece of toast.) And, I wish there were a greater selection of wines. My family and I went here for dinner about a week ago and the food did not disappoint. We ordered many dishes off the menu. The seafood cakes were crispy on the outside yet soft on the inside. The applewood smoked double-cut bacon was paired with this delicious corn relish that had just the smallest hint of heat from the pickled jalapeños. The whiskey flambéed mushrooms looked like a simple dish, but had so much flavor. The pork tenderloin was so juicy and tender. We also had the shrimp bruschetta, the bone marrow, and the bread pudding with the candied lardons for dessert. This is the first restaurant in Oahu that I have seen lardons in a dish, let alone a dessert. I was excited to see that! Lardons add such great flavor and texture and hopefully they can be utilized more on the menu. The service was great! Lucy was our server, but the whole team works well together. Any time we finished a dish someone from the crew would come around and clear the plate quickly. The only thing that put a bad taste in my mouth was to find out that Pint & Jigger does not validate your parking if you valet with the Ala Moana Hotel where the restaurant is located. Crazy experience here. Came here a few weeks ago with my boyfriend and his family on vacation. The music selection is nice and the alcohol selection is fantastic. What a shame though. We sat at a table, ordered some food and four drinks, one per person. The drinks took forever and it wasn't even busy. I got a Moscow mule which was 90% ginger 10% everything else. I felt like I took five ginger shots back to back. The table next to us had an extremely intoxicated person who was throwing himself around everyone at his table. When will the bartender cut him off? That's not the worst part. We had a horrible server. He was white with blonde hair, I didn't catch his name. I ordered a hamburger and asked for the buns to be replaced with lettuce- and I asked for extra lettuce as well (not because of calories, I just prefer lettuce). So he says okay, brings our food, I get my burger and there is one melted piece of lettuce on the bottom and one on the top. It is melted because of the heat from the patty. I don't mind, I know he's not in the back cooking it- it's not his fault. So we call him over and I ask for extra lettuce for my burger and he says okay. 10 minutes goes by and I don't get my lettuce, so we ask him again to bring it. We are being kind, keep that in mind. He comes back, with ONE singular small piece of romaine lettuce. I say thank you, but my boyfriend's brother is shocked by his attitude and the fact that he brought one piece of lettuce. So he asks him again, nicely and with manners, "Sorry, can we get some more lettuce I believe she asked for extra". He then walks off with attitude and brings back another small piece of lettuce and just drops it at the table. This happened another time, so three times in total. We were honestly in disbelief because we didn't do anything to him. We also gave him the benefit of the doubt because maybe he was having a bad day, but this doesn't justify not bringing us more lettuce. Also ordered fries that never came because he forgot to put it in. He was not attentive at all to our table and we saw him goofing around with his coworkers. He acted like he hated us, not his job. If you're looking for a rare whiskey selection, this is the spot! My hubby was able to taste Pappys here! That's over a $1000 bottle so this was an opportunity he couldn't miss out on. 1.5 ounce cost $60 (eeek!) but he was super happy. They have so many rare whiskeys it's pretty mind blowing. We were able to make reservations online very quickly. Note that I don't think this place takes walk ins so best to make a reservation. As for food, the fried pickles were delicious! The egg thingy was not that great... lacked flavor and was missing some acidity. It came with some cucumbers and it tasted super plain. The burger also lacked flavor... was missing some seasonings on the patty. The fries here are super good so make sure you get those. The bbq fries tastes just like bbq lays chips! Nightlife in Honolulu, Hawaii... Pint & Jigger was a popular bar that used to be on King Street - next to Jimbo's. I didn't really care for it because it felt crowded and dark. When Dan O. said that there was a new location at the Ala Moana Hotel, I wanted to take a look! Luckily, he made reservations and we went! (The reservation had to be booked way in advance and sounded a bit complicated to get.) PARKING: it's kind of tricky because some parts of Ala Moana Center are not free. Just look for signs and be careful. I parked by The Lanai, walked into Macy's and exited through the door closest to the ramp to Ala Moana Hotel LOCATION: on the ground level of the Ala Moana Hotel. Go through the hallway of shops near Starbucks and you'll see a huge sign after the archway SERVICE: we were well taken care of by Sophia. She was pleasant and efficient! FOOD: I had the Stout Burger. It had beer cheese! I could taste an exotic flavor which turned out to be Guinness! I liked it! The quality beef patty had a slightly charred, crisp outer layer and was moist and tender on the inside! The Stout Burger came with amazingly crunchy French Fries! I couldn't stop eating them because they were so good! The perfect touch of salt made the middle of the fries a bit sweeter, smoother, and creamier - maybe I was imagining it? ENVIRONMENT: we sat in the Game Room where patrons could play American shuffle board. The furniture was picnic bench style. Other tables and looked "normal" - didn't have to climb over a bench. I was not sure what to expect but I absolutely loved the place The drinks were amazing, the food was great, and the guy helping us out was super friendly. Aside from all of that though, the atmosphere was nice and it was pretty entertaining being able to see the workers use a neat sliding ladder to get bottles off the big wall they have in the back! The old Pint & Jigger on King Street was so amazing I recommended it to everyone I knew. We couldn't get enough of it and had to talk ourselves out of going to often! Breakfast was actually a real favorite of mine and my kids', but cocktail time was a favorite for me and my girlfriends. The frickin pickles are still the best here - and I've tried them a couple different places now. They've (thankfully) reopened in the Ala Moana Hotel, and we were so excited! I've been twice now - once for breakfast and once for cocktails. They no longer have press pot coffee, just brewed. Still really good. I got the biscuits and gravy with a side of over easy eggs. Like so many places now, the eggs were nowhere close to over easy - they were definitely at least over medium and tending toward over hard. No gooey stuff in sight. My biscuits and gravy were fine, but I did not have the urge to ask for more gravy like I used to. My gf had the burger but didn't have too much to say about it, unfortunately. It was beautiful, though! When we went for cocktails I ordered the smoking gun like I always do (my fave!) and my friend ordered a gin drink and later on, an espresso cocktail. The cocktails are divine, and may I say, wine just hits different! We were more than a little tipsy when we left after 2 drinks each! We ordered the frickin pickles, which never fail to disappoint. Like ever. I'd come back here just for those. We also got the Brussel sprouts with just cheese, no bacon. Ok, I've had these before at they were off the chain. Like, we had to get another order. But not this time. This time, they had the consistency of previously frozen Brussels (or steamed), no crispy bits, literally hardly any taste at all. No enticement. It still comes in the cast iron skillet, so that was a little confusing - and frankly, kind of a bummer. The pros: tons of parking. Beautiful setup. The frickin pickles! Efficient, attentive staff. The cons: parking is paid (scan the QR code; it's $6 for 2 hours at Ala Moana Center). The ceilings are quite a bit higher now, so it loses its intimate feel. TONS of screens for watching football and such, which gives it more of a sports bar feel. Seems like slightly less seating. Like I said, I'd come back for the frickin pickles alone, but I sure hope they nail down some of the other things on the menu to make it as awesome as it used to be. I love that all the drinks are still amazing, and that they still have the same awesome aloha (plus online reservations- except for brunch; just walk in for that) to give. I'll be waiting! read more

I just came here with my husband and friends last weekend. As a fan of their old location I was excited to come to try their new location inside the Ala Moana hotel. We ordered a lot of dishes so we could share. Everything was delicious! My favorites were the fried pickles, mushrooms and the burger. (The burger was one of my favorite dishes at their old location and it still is very good!) Lots of drink choices to accompany the yummy food or vice versa! P&J has relocated to the Ala Moana Hotel on the same floor and location as their Starbucks. Park at the mall for free parking as they don't validate and aren't part of the hotel. All our favorites have returned. I love the fried pickles but i think the winner is their seasoned fries. There is an extensive drink menu with Dave still there. The fish was crispy and flaky. Shrimp bruschetta tasty, crispy and delish. Their speakeasy Harry's opens next month and unbeknownst to them shhhhh...i saw it behind one of their beautiful displays of whisky. They only have 2 bathrm stalls and they are unisex with the sink being outside. That would probably be the only downfall as I had to wait a bit before some exited and a line formed behind me. read more

When we arrived it was pretty empty which was fine with me. There was a bunch of seats and we were quickly served. I got a Japanese cucumber-white peach sangria which was something I really liked. It tastes like it sounds. For food...I totally forget what it was called but I liked it! Lastly, we got the fried pickles. I usually don't care for pickles but I always have to get them when I'm at PJ. Just like the old location, the vibe and ambiance is the same. I think there's also a speakeasy within the restaurant. The only chicken i saw on menu was a fried chicken breast sandwich so assumed they would use the same. Not. Anyway the size of the salad was like a side salad and very under seasoned tough chicken. Come on man a little salt in your dredge would help but damn tough to chew. Terrible terrible for the price. We parked at the mall on the far side of Macy's (there's an entrance to the hotel on the second floor.. There was a new-looking sign there stating that we had to mobile pay if we were going to the hotel.. We paid almost $7 for 2 hours to park at the mall... I feel jyped!). Anywhooo Pint + Jigger is now located in the back left corner on the ground floor (past the little shops). The ambiance is dark, woody, whiskeys lined up sky-high on the wall.. Basically very similar to the King St. location, but larger! Since we came in on a weeknight there were a few open tables & it wasn't very rowdy, but I can imagine it getting crazy fun in there! They have a huuuuge selection of beverages. I went for the grapefruit radler from Steigl - I know they sell it at Whole Foods but I really do like the fruity fizzy grapefruit goodness! Here's what we got.. Seafood cake: Really good! Came with 3 cakes with no option to add on a 4th, but that's fine. They were a good size & we were able to split them between 4 easily. Packed with plenty of seafood! Whiskey Flambeed Mushrooms: Definitely didn't read the menu well so was surprised to see the crostini, but it was a wonderful surprise! I wish there were more mushrooms loaded on there but the garlic parmesan spread was everything. Pan Roasted Brussels w/ Feta Cheese: I wish there was a bit more kabocha sauce & the brussels were roasted a tad more. Great place for beer and whiskey lovers! Food is hit or miss depending on the item. I came with two other friends Tuesday evening around 6:30. One friend called maybe an hour ahead and made a reservation for us, and we were seated as soon as we arrived. The first thing you notice when walking in is their huge bar stocked with what looked like 200-300 types of alcohol. It's so tall that they need a ladder to reach some of the bottles! This is reflected in their alcohol menu, which has a great selection of cocktails and beers. For the full list, you can check their website, as they have one of the most extensive whiskey and scotch selections I've ever seen. For food, we shared the whiskey flambéed mushrooms ($11) and the scotch egg ($11). Both were fantastic. For my main, I got the fish and chips ($24), and that's where I was sorely disappointed. They use different fish depending on the fresh catch of the day, and for the day I came, they used blue marlin. I've never had blue marlin before, but I did NOT like it fried. The meat was super dry and hard to chew, and I had to take small bites to make it more palatable. Another disappointment of the evening was being told that they were out of the frick'n chicken sammie when we tried to order it around 7 pm. Fortunately the summer skillet ($17) my friend ordered instead ended up being pretty good as well. read more

I had an amazing experience here. The owner and workers are so friendly and accommodating. The food is spectacular. My friends and I happened to try almost all of the appetizers and none of them disappointed. This is definitely the kind of place to go to if you enjoy hanging out and drinking while eating out. The service was surprisingly quick despite how packed it was inside. I could tell the servers were working extremely hard and were passionate about their job and enjoyment of this place. I really enjoyed it too so I'd love to come back again! There's also TVs on the wall playing different sports which I found very entertaining. It gave my friends and I another thing to talk about. Second time coming here, this time I had a little food. Thought about driving up to the front of the hotel and have valets take my car, but not sure if they still had that service or not. So we self parked in the shopping center on the wrong floor. I always have a hard time finding the connectiing pedestrian bridge from Macy's to the hotel. The bar is also somewhat of a hidden gem. There are no signs in the lobby that a bar is way back around the corner. You have to be a GPS or Yelp sleuth to know. We arrived at 530pm on Saturday and got a table with chairs. I was glad we didn't have to be standing room only like last time. In fact, the bar was pretty empty at the time but by 630pm it was almost full. The ambiance is dark with wood barrels, ladder above the bar to get the liquor, shuffleboard, picnic tables, high top tables. A mix of tourists and locals various ages but somewhat a mature crowd with expendable income. Our tab for 4 drinks and pupus $80 ot bad for high quality. It sort of has a throwback feel and layout as the prior location but bigger. We got fried pickles, bread service (focaciaca with garlic honey butter), and mushroom bruschetta. The food is amazing gastro pub fare. Hubby had beer mojito using Heferweizen. Not sure if rum was also added or not but he said it was good. I had a cosmo. The speakeasy behind the book case was not open again. I want to come back for that. read more

P&J was a favorite neighborhood hangout for me when they were located on King Street in McCully. I have been here at the new location a couple of times, so an updated review of P&J is overdue. Located on the ground floor behind Aloha Scuba, P&J is now reservation only. Understand how that makes things easier for management to plan coverage and such, but miss being to spontaneously swing by the old location on a whim. We were seated in a comfortable rectangular end-table. As Yeeps were joining us on a delayed basis, us first three ordered first. I got the Fish & Chips this time. By the time our food came, the other Yeeps joined us and ordered their food. The Fish & Chips lived up to its name, 3 generously sized pieces of fish and a large amount of fries. With the added malt vinegar, fresh lemon, and tartar sauce, it was pretty good! I knew I wouldn't be able to finish it, so I'm glad another Yeep took one piece of fish off my hands. They shared their Scotch Eggs & Applewood Bacon salsa with me. A good trade! The Scotch Eggs were as good as they were at the old location, but the Applewood Bacon salsa stole the show! So good! I've had the Frickin' Chicken sandwich before. Despite its good taste, the fried chicken patty is a bit overwhelmed with the bun, lettuce, & slide of tomato. Another Yeep didn't care for her pork tenderloin, as the pork portions and the overall dish was on the small size. As good as the food is, the drinks are an equal portion of the equation. P&J has an impressive wall of whisky, with a lot of craft specialties. As it was a belated birthday celebration I asked for a neat shot of 4 Roses (my favorite bourbon!) single barrel, in this case 2022 Hawaiian Mafia (a group of whisky lovers in the local restaurant industry who pool to buy a single barrel). I've gone through the Kentucky Bourbon Trail twice, so definitely can appreciate its complexity and taste. All in all it was a great indulgence for a birthday! Their mojito was very good! It was strong and it was very flavorful with lots of mint leaves. I had their Moscow mule but I didn't take a photo. Probably the best Moscow mule I've ever had. It was loaded with ginger and I love the taste of ginger. It was strong and delicious. The lemon drop was too sweet in my opinion but it's just wasn't my taste. My partner asked the bartender to surprise him and that's what he came up with. It's good if you don't like tasting alcohol in your drinks. He said the old fashion was very good and strong. It's one of the best old fashions he had. I recommend coming here! read more

Went to this trendy bar with a buddy for the first time last night. Service was amazing as we seated right away and water and tableware came as we were sitting down. Great menu and sitting in front of the impressive wall of alcohol! Specifically came to venue for this reason so immediately determined we were in the perfect setting! Ordered a couple of different Old Fashions for variety and two appetizers. Server later recommended a BLT for us to share! Awesome! Would definitely recommend and refer this joint! read more

We went for the drinks and they were amazing. The bartender Dave Newman is one of the 5 finalist for the James Beard Award for outstanding professional in cocktail service - and that's out of the whole United States...top 5! I got the smoking gun and my girlfriend got the mixed emotions and they were both excellent. We didn't have food so I'm not too sure about that, but you gotta try Dave's amazing drinks! read more

A friend of mine and I went to this spot to see what it was about. It's in a hotel near ward, I forgot the name of hotel but when you walk in, it gives you bar or pub/speakeasy vibes, I love the whole ambiance of it. The music that they play gives club vibes which I love even more. I didn't take a picture of the food but it was amazing and I really enjoyed it. I really came from the drinks to be honest. I ordered an Irish Cream and Espresso Martini which I've tried for the first time going here, which were both AMAZING. I had about 2 more martinis after that lol! Oh! Not to mention, the workers were very friendly. Overall, I give this place an 11/10. I love it and I'm making my way back very soon! read more

Terrible service; staff almost refused to fix the mistake THEY made. They seated us on a table first, then proceeded to tell part of our party they couldn't sit there because they seated another party at the other end of our table and miscounted the number of seats available. When they finally fixed their mistake, the staff took forever to come by to take our order, and we ended up having to flag them down several times to order food and drinks. Then, it took over an hour to get some appetizers even though the party that was at the table that came after us was done and left long before we could even get our food. Then, when it finally came out, we found a hair at the bottom of the dish. To top it all off, they rang up our bill wrong and were going to charge us for drinks and food we hadn't ordered. We made reservations as we were driving in from the Windward side and had a good welcome at the hostess stand and provided a nice table. Our server came quickly and gave us a little time to soak up the menu. The ambiance was perfect with the wall of spirits and the chalkboards that listed all the different spirits and beers available. We ordered our first round of drinks and everyone was happy with their selection...all crafted perfectly! We ordered several of the shared plates and enjoyed them. Awesome awesome awesome cocktails! They have one of the best espresso martinis I've experienced ever.. it's super rich. The burger is also amazing, I normally eat it as pictured; no bread but with a lettuce wrap instead. The service is good, and the staff is accommodating with substitution request (I normally go when it's not crowded). Lastly, pint + jigger is esthetically beautiful.
