Biggest warning: the management does not care about customer service and does not provide a private way to communicate dissatisfaction.
My experience at Pinstripes Chicago was terrible, and I must repeat terrible, except to say, absolutely terrible.
I really don't want walk back through the experience, and I must say that next to never do I write a review. If I write a bad review, then the experience was beyond bad--
all the way around.
My mother was coming to town for her birthday. For weeks I was deciding where my mother would have her birthday dinner.
Typically I have taken her to the upscale locations I go to, and as they are known to do, they have always treated her with the utmost welcoming experience.
Several of those places even asked if I was bringing my mother for her birthday.
Although Pinstripes is far from upscale, I have taken her there because it's a quick, fun bite, and I used to live in the towers above the restaurant.
My mother likes certain menu items there and just wanted a casual but celebratory experience.
I called ahead to Pinstripes --although 5 times in one day they did not answer the phone.
I spoke to who I later found out was the manager. I told her what menu we were ordering from and where we wanted to sit and why. My mother has mobility issues and the American Disabilities Act qualifies her as having accommodations when traveling, in hotels, etc.
Not one place has ever refused to be accommodating, except Pinstripes.
Even though they were not busy in that section at all, and even though my mom's mobility issue was very clear, we were so disrespected in being refused with the management refusing to even address it, but leaving the waitress to do it.
Even though I was spending as much or more as the guests in the dining area and there were more than 10-15 tables fully available, so we could have been accommodated
I asked for the manager but she dispatched the waitress again to tell us we had to move.
Upon moving I saw the manager and questioned her. I asked her to
at least seat my mother at a low table top.
There was one dirty low top squeezed in a corner that she told us to wait for.
You should have seen my mother having to wait--never offered a seat while we waited, nothing.
I escorted my mother and helped her on to a bar stool. 5 minutes or so later, the manager yelled at us twice--we cleaned that table for you.
I ignored it.
The bar tender essentially ignored us until I said "We'd like to order."
Then as if a joke, he stood there like he remembered the order until finally he wrote it down because he clearly could not remember all 7 or more items I ordered, and kept repeating (from memory) an incorrect order.
Ultimately, our order came out with wrong items, missing items, and what was sent was sent out to us cold.
I asked the bartender to have hot items arrive at our table.
He asked if I wanted the items remade--as if they'd reheat it after we had eaten a couple bites and realized the food was cold.
Not to mention, which I already mentioned, some items just never came. And to whit,, I was charged for 2 items that were not even supposed to be on our bill.
Not one happy birthday. Not one. Not from anyone. And I approached another Levi jeans wearing manager to ask if he thought what they did was acceptable. I had already paid my bill and told him I spent more than customers seated where they refused us. He used the term "corporate" 3 times as did the woman manager. And, both were unrepentant for how they treated us. In fact, he said three times "Is there anything else?"
They were the worst. Sloppy, nasty, and a mess in how they conducted themselves. Luke warm food. Terrible service. But corporate, corporate proud.
The Pinstripe management and service was the worst. The. Absolute. Worst. read more
