The hype, surprisingly, was true! This Pink Gorilla was the main part of my trip to Seattle and more than anything, it was an experience. This store is so clean and so full of stuff that it's hard to not spend hours just looking! As everyone says, they focus heavily on import games and it shows. Every wall is covered with games and accessories. Accessories I'd never seen before at spectacular prices! Same with the games, the prices were top notch and incredibly fair. The customer service was great! They had one guy walking around on the floor stocking the walls who was incredibly nice and asked if I needed assistance multiple times(which I didn't mind). The man behind the counter was very knowledgeable on region locking in portable systems since I was buying a Japanese Game Gear game. Even if you don't buy anything, this place is great to just walk around in. I'd recommend it to anyone and I hope to get to go to the other location. A really fun place! They have a lot of old school stuff and if you're a Pokémon fan then this is definitely the place to go.

There are three Pink Gorillas at the moment, and I think this the best one. The store is very spacious, which allows them to have a bigger selection compared to the other ones. The customer service is non-existent...well, can't really blame them I guess. I suppose they get a lot of passerby college students who never buy anything. I don't think I've ever been greeted by the staff. They pretty much ignore you and remain low key, unless you ask for their help. At least they aren't rude. This place used to be decent. I probably would have given them 4 stars last year, if only for their arcade they used to have in the back. They had DDR, Pop 'N Music, etc. Well, they probably didn't find the games profitable, so I guess you can't really blame them. They now use the back of the store for........who knows. It looks like people play card games back there now? Their games have always been overpriced. They clearly don't keep up with price drops, and make no effort to lower their prices. Well, I'll buy my games elsewhere then. This store specializes in import and retro games, but they carry some domestic titles as well. You might find a nice gem every now and then, but don't get your hopes up. The good titles are usually snatched up immediately. Also, as my friend likes to say about Pink Gorilla, "PREPARE TO GET RIPPED OFF!" Their prices just can't compete with online import sites such as play-asia.com. The prices are usually $5-10 more than what they go for online. I guess it's more about instant gratification. However, I wouldn't go out of my way to buy a game here when I can just order online and have it delivered to my house. I've special ordered import titles from them in the past, and some titles took well over 3 weeks for them to get. They take trade-ins for just about anything (including imports) which is a huge plus. I've been able to trade in my more obscure import titles, such as Para Para Paradise and Taiko no Tatsujin. They also carry some gaming related merchandise such as figures and keychains, but the selection could be better. In short, go to this place if you care about imports and retro games. If you want go to a great retro video game store and don't care much about imports, then go with Another Castle in Lynnwood. They have a much better selection, keep up with price drops, and have a more personable staff. read more

We brought in a questionable NES and when they weren't able to repair it, they gave us a great deal on one of their well maintained NES consoles, as well as giving us great tips to clean our games and get the best quality possible. I'm really not a gamer. I mean really not at all, the sound of the little blippies and bleepies is enough to make my skin crawl all over and the hair raise up on the back of my neck. However, I used to LOVE N64 and PS2 and now not so much really. I had them all packed up in a box ready to move into my next place when I looked at how dusty they were and said "F*** it" and toated them down to Pink Gorilla. I was so freaking happy I did! I sold all my stuff and a got a great deal for it! I mean seriously this was stuff I never used and maybe paid about $30 for total over the years and got a little over twice that back. Awesome!!!! I can't tell you how happy I was... Only issue was somehting I think that most people will love... there's an arcade in the back so be prepared for more blippy an bleepy then you can handle. read more

I really like this store. Often when you go to game stores you either have the experience of being in this huge box store and nobody knows anything about their merch. Or you get the feeling that everyone is so into gaming that you can't really relate and they try to sell you on games which aren't really for casual or normal players. This store however, goes on the line where they can be helpful to both the casual gamer and the hardcore gamer. Their selection is good. their staff is extremely helpful, and a pleasure to work with, I definitely wholly approve of this gaming store. P.S. their mascot and merch is cute too. "Stay a while, and listen" I really want to give this place five stars but there are two things that are preventing me from doing so. 1) I hate how the prices say "about". They'll charge you that number, you can't haggle it. And I get that they have that word there to include sales tax 2) This is actually my main concern. With each new store opening the selection diminishes. Before they opened other stores I used to be able to find tons of great stuff for my NES and SNES but with each store I find less and less. But everything else is great. The prices (even though they say "about") are great. I would dare say the best and most reasonable in town. Much better than up the street. The staff is very knowledgable too. I do wish that they displayed the merch better so that I could go through the titles faster and not have to kind of turn my head at an angle (I can't read upside or sideways). And every game I've purchased, worked. I also have sold games here and the money they pay is good. It's fun seeing old Nintendo Powers there, and I'm fine with the tchotchkes... But I do miss being able to buy G.I. Joe figures there. All in all, it's nice to have a place I can go to get games for pretty much every system you can think of... Not hyperbole. When it comes to Pink Gorilla, the cake is definitely not a lie. read more

Lets just say the games were not the first thing to grab my attentions but the wall to wall of Pink plush dragons! If you reminisce about your old school gaming system(s) like myself, as I spent way too many junior high nights gulping Surge and playing Tetris and Mario cart till 1 am. Pink Gorilla will happily lead you down the memory lane of Japanese gaming. The space is pretty small, with a giant 'Dance Dance' revolution up front. Go toward the back and you'll find oodles of goodies in old games, consoles, plastic guns, mario key rings, poky, and.....lots more pink plushy dragons to fill a pasty white kid's contentment. The back has all the fun old school game arcades for two players. Likely to not be crowded either. read more

I really like this store. I almost don't notice it when I pass by but when you go in and search through the place, its like a hole in the wall you don't want to miss. I went in recently, and sadly all of the game consoles that were in the back are gone, which leaves it an empty feeling. No beep blippies in your ear. I asked for an n64 cord if they had any used ones... They actually hold new cords that are compatible with SNES, N64 and gamecube. awesome... and for 10 bucks? I'm in. This is a very cool place, lots of game selection especially vintage and hard to find titles. They have a newly added stage and I have attended a couple sweet live performances there. They have decent amount of room for lounging during the show. They also host game release parties where they have tournaments for fighting games and generally have winner takes the game home as the prize. They are all very knowledgeable and willing to help you find things. They have a sister location in the international district too, but it is a bit smaller, but still a good place to check out if you're in the area. read more

I was here a couple hours ago. The staff seemed tired out and the place was pretty empty. I was looking at everything!! It was such a heavenly store!! Had pokemon plushie a from Japan so much cheaper than at conventions and I bought one I was looking for. They have a wide selection of vintage and old school games, but still carry used games of current consoles. I walked out really happy with my Froakie plushie and three pokemon charms. I got a used kingdom hearts game too that I haven't played yet. I like this place and when I come back to Seattle I'm stopping here again! They also had clock tower... For ps1 I love that game!! Went here to trade in some old NES stuff I had sitting in a box for 20 years after hearing about it on the Metal Jesus Rocks retro gaming YouTube channel. Elise helped me out, she was friendly and knowledgeable and transparent throughout the whole process and gave me very reasonable pricing (I ended up using store credit to pick up cute Pink Gorilla and Yoshi plushies and a sheet of Pink Gorilla stickers). I was also impressed with the breadth and depth of stock they had in the store, they had a good variety of games and accessories from various generations (everything from NES to SNES to N64 to game and watch to PS1/2/3, etc). Had a great experience with Gabe. He helped me pick out a Gameboy and warned me away from the model I didn't want but was thinking about. Considering I don't know a lot about what I was getting, this was hugely appreciated. When I got to the cash register I off handedly asked if he had a game my girlfriend has been looking for for several months. He told me he just got it in today, handed it to me still in original packaging, and sold it to me for five bucks! Awesome! Great selection and really enjoyed who helped me out today. read more

They have a wide selection of games for both old and new consoles, the staff does not come off as friendly. I would have given them 3 stars if it wasn't for the fact that I called ahead and asked for an item specifically. I was told they had it so I rushed/drove out of my way to this location. When I arrived I was not greeted despite being the only customer in the store, upon asking for the item I was informed that they did not have it, the worker (the same one I spoke to on the phone) offered no apology. I am a collector of retro video games, and the one thing Pink Gorilla excels at is the quality of their classic games. Each game is inspected and lovingly placed in a sealed plastic bag for protection. This is good, because their prices are not the cheapest in town, as you can certainly get a better deal at a pawn shop. However, if you are looking for that rare Japanese import or classic game from your childhood and don't wanna deal with online sellers, give this local business a look. I bought a Donkey Kong shirt here and when I opened the package I saw the printing was discolored. When I tried to exchange it for the same shirt I was told "All sales are final" even though I wasn't asking for a refund, I just wanted a shirt that isn't discolored. I explained that the shirt was discolored when I bought it, but the guy said they "have no way of knowing that, it could've been sitting somewhere and got stained." Oh, ok. I'm just a lair. Nice store. Everyone mentions that the store is a go-to for the retro games, and I definitely agree, but only a few other people mentioned the video game merch they sell too. Seriously, they were selling some stuff I didn't know existed! Staff were very friendly in my experience. Not so sure about what people mentioned about the store being unclean/smelly. Store was clean and everything was well-organized when I was there. They even have gachapon machines filled with random gaming stuff in the front for a dollar per pull. Overall, really great experience. Would definitely recommend at least checking out the store if you're nearby and into video games. read more

I hate to give a one-star rating because I love the idea of a locally owned video game shop, but selling broken equipment is inexcusable. I bought a used PS3 controller two weeks ago, and it does not connect to my PS3. I was out of town for two weeks so I was unable to exchange it in their 7-day return window, and they refuse to give any kind of refund or in-store credit. I would recommend credited sellers on E-Bay or Amazon over Pink Gorilla! read more

Selection is very good, bigger than the other two stores, but the customer needs work. Also, do your homework on prices too, alot of games are much cheaper on Amazon, even with s&h. Make sure the game you purchase is the one you REALLY want, exchanges can be more of a hassle than they should be. I exchanged a game at the Bellevue store with no problem what so ever, the clerk was super nice, I traded a $10 game for a $10 game. Unfortunately this place was far less enjoyable experience. I wanted to trade my $10 game for a $9 doller game yet he wanted $4 more dollers from me, I was ok with that though, but then he wouldn't do it because I don't have I.d., my wallet was stolen weeks ago, he said it's state law you have to have i.d.. Well, that's bullshit, I wasn't asked for it the other day at the other store, nor am I ever asked for I.D. at the countless other store I've returned or exchanged things at. The only time I've been asked for I.D. is when I did not have a receipt, which I DID have in this case. He was kinda smug about it too. It's ashame, next week I was gonna drop $200 for a Wii U and more for some games but now I'm just gonna order it. I'd be pissed if someone cost me that much money. read more

This is a regular stop for my husband and I -- he's a well-versed gamer (Zelda pro, various RPGs, shooters) while I'm more of a novice-to-moderate platformer enthusiast (Shovel Knight!!), and we both like to poke around in here a few times a month. Prices are fair and staff is helpful. Only reducing one star due to the consistently awful smell in the shop, an open door / some ventilation would go a long, long way in this place! Pink Gorilla is amazing. It's one of the coolest places I've ever been. They have an amazing selection of old and newer games. They also replace batteries for your old Pokémon games that are no longer able to save or the clock isn't working. I'm taking my Pokémon Silver and Pokémon Ruby there so that they can be playable again. Having a battery replaced is a mere $5 to be able to play your beloved game again!!! This place is slightly better compared to Al's. But it is not perfect. Their selection is a bit more important but forget about it if you're looking for the most rare collectible stuff. Their prices are a bit less expensive compared to Al's. But sometimes there are items that are overpriced too. The staff is okay friendly, they are younger and a bit more aware of the video-game industry. I was able to find couple of interesting items and I brought old games I wanted to get rid of. Their buying policy is a bit of a rip off, but instead of having zero I accepted to sell them my stuff for almost nothing, even if my SNES games were in extraordinary condition they bought each games for $1 or $2. I have noticed that their in-box games sell for minimum $10. But it looks like pink gorilla is the best location in the Pacific Northwest to find what you're looking for. They still need to have a bigger selection, and then I will say that they are perfect. read more

I bought Megaman X Legacy Collection + Megaman X Legacy Collection 2 for Nintendo Switch. I got home and found that there was no download code for Legacy Collection 2. Nowhere on the packaging did they clarify that I was only getting half of what I was advertised. I returned to the store and was told that there was no guarantee that I was buying Megaman X Legacy Collection 2, and that I could not return or exchange the game. So I paid $30 for Megaman X Legacy Collection 1, which is a $15 game. Staff was very rude. read more
