My favorite indie arcade and video game shop in the PNW! I've spent most of my high school days playing at the arcade here as well as buying some copies of retro games. Sales happen often, so it's worth swinging by every once in a while if you live nearby! The decor makes you feel at a gaming home, and the arcade machines are well maintained. If you're a fan of pinball this is honestly the best one I've been to! (Though i don't play pinball professionally so don't take my word for it too much LOL). Also beer. And karaoke. We always make a point to stop in to get our nerd on and check out the current selection when we're in the neighborhood. OMG!!!!! As soon as I walked in, there was a pinball machine on the left... then you walk a bit further, and to the right you see a mini arcade with plenty of video game cabinets and some pinball machines.... rare ones that I've never seen! They were fun to play with, not everyday you see a video game store with an arcade attached. They also have a great selection of games for any handheld or console! I just wish I had more time to look! We were in a hurry to get a Neo Geo X limited edition in Everett! I can't wait to come back and see if they have any NES black box games that I'm missing! What can I say except that this place totally rules!!! Great selection of new and used games and just an all around great experience. Staff is really kind and helpful and even though I'm fairly new to gaming I've never felt like I was being talked down to. Every recommendation has been a hit and even though the arcade is still closed to public my brother still begs me to stop by when we drive past. Oh yes, the arcade. Best experience ever!! My little bro and I anxiously await it's return so we can get back to tag teaming on Pop'n Music. They have a great selection of cabinets and we've never been bored while there. Another Castle Video Games in Edmonds is one of a kind. Well, there is another store in nearby Lynnwood bearing the same name, but that's not what I mean. This is a video game store that sells retro games and is complete with an adjoining arcade. That is about as awesome as it can get. Since this place can easily suck up hours of your life, it makes an excellent spot for hanging out or even going on dates. Thankfully, there is also a bathroom so you don't have to go anywhere else. I don't live close enough to this store for it to be convenient to come here all the time, but I don't mind the occasional drive. The used video game sales function the same way that they do in the Lynnwood store; you get ten percent off used games by creating an account with them. This does require you to give them your first name, last name, and phone number. The two stores also aren't connected for some reason, so you may have to do the same thing at both stores if you shop at them both. I bought three GBA games here: Golden Sun: The Lost Age ($22.50), Wario Land 4 ($11.50), and Pokemon Pinball: Ruby and Sapphire ($13.50). The rest of their video game selection is outstanding. I saw Okami and Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4 right next to each other in the PlayStation 2 section. That is just too much awesomeness in one little spot. I would probably give this store five stars, but they can be a little greedy with their prices. They have Final Fantasy VI Advance for $120. It's factory sealed, but that's still terribly expensive... read more

I was looking for some games for my Nintendo 3DS and found a great selection here. Tons of retro games for just about every system and a decent selection of plushies too. Prices were pretty much on par with what you would see on eBay, the person that helped me was extremely knowledgeable and I even found a sealed copy of the game that I was looking for. If you are looking for retro games, accessories, and systems, you won't be let down by their selection. They also had a really good selection of current Switch games and a lot of accessories too. Because...they have quite the amazing collection of NES, SNES, Xbox, PS3 (and other Playstations), Sega, etc etc etc games... Met the owner, Matt, and he told us about his collection as well as a cool Retro Gaming expo down in Portland in a few weeks (hells yeah.) They have a arcade game in there, it has Dr. Mario on it... you know you wanna play. Very reasonable prices, extremely stellar customer service, and a wide array of games (and consoles and guides and accessories...) Another Castle is awesome. They have everything you could ever want to feed your nostalgia collection, and if they don't have it, they'll find it. I asked them to keep their ear to the ground for a copy of Star Control II for the 3DO in May. In September, apropos of nothing, I got a call that they had a copy in. AMAZING! Their selection is top-notch, with low prices on basically everything. They have a full arcade now in the adjacent space, though not all the cabinets are in full working order. Highly recommend if you're looking for new games for current-gen systems or old skool. read more

You don't even know how awesome it is to have a store that takes and sells old console games. My son is the biggest Nintendo head, he throws around Shigero Miyamoto's name like they go way back. My son is 12, so this is funny to me. We always have the latest Nintendo gaming platforms, but we also have an original NES and a Gamecube that gets played regularly, so we are really grateful that Another Castle's selection is pretty vast, and they will always buy your game back. Although I am still looking for TMNT for the NES..... My son has been playing Super Mario Sunshine for years (who doesn't love this whimsical game? Crazy foo's, that's who), and found an old game guide for Sunshine at Another Castle and was over the moon, he did not stop talking about it all day. It doesn't matter what you come here for, you will find something awesome every time. The employees are really cool people, super helpful and have been able to answer all of our questions. Having the arcade there is an awesome cherry on top bonus. Although I wish the arcade had a bit better lighting. The last time we were there, only one sad light was on and it made the arcade seem kind of a dark lonely place to be. Stop going to that chain game store and give all your money to Another Castle, it will make you feel better as a person, and also has vitamins added for your health. Holy friggin' NUTS! THIS is a video game store, and this is about as good as it gets in terms of independent video game stores (where the people running the show are doing it because they LOVE games and gaming)! In addition to new/current titles and systems, they have a slew of old systems, their games, their accessories and their peripherals, dating way way way back to those good old earliest days of home console gaming (it's basically a museum in there!). Atari 2600? Yup. Atari 5200? Yup. ColecoVision?! Yup! NES? SNES? 3DO, Genesis, SegaCD, Saturn, Dreamcast, N64, handhelds, and on and on, up to the current systems and their games (Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, etc)? Aw hell yup! And if you want it, and they don't have it, they will keep an eye out for it on your behalf, giving you a call once they get it in! If you're a kid, go. And if you're an adult, HELL YES GO! Why? They have a coin-op ARCADE attached too, with table-top Ms. Pacman, Donkey Kong Jr., Galaxian, and a few other prominent later-years arcade cabinets as well, including Street Fighter 2 and 1, the rare actual R-Type arcade cabinet, and much more! I NEVER give out 5 stars on Yelp, EVER (this is my first, in fact). A place truly has to be exceptional to get 5 stars in my book. Another Castle does it and does it right, 5-star samurai style. Really cool little spot. You can either play on older arcade games you fondly remember from childhood -- Initial D, Street Fighter, Time Crisis, Pac-Man, Multi-game nintendo system, and a HUGE selection of pinball machines. There's a small counter where they sell some beverages and snacks. Upstairs there are a couple tables, and attached to the arcade area is a store where you can buy video games and other memorabilia, old and new. After a certain hour, they close off the store from the arcade, where you can play until up to 2am on the weekends! The cost to play these games is about what I remember them being as a kid, too. None of this dollar per play BS you see in newer arcades. The restroom leaves a little to be desired, but I wasn't expecting too much from a space inside an older strip mall. It was probably never meant for the masses. Oh, and best of all -- now there's beer. If you're a game geek, or you just want to play somewhere for less than the family center down the road, definitely come check it out! read more

These are the cool nerds! I love it here, never condescending even when I'm buying silly wii and gamecube games and usually fun and easy to joke around with. My favorite part is how it doesn't have that distinctive basement nerd smell when you walk in like the less friendly folks down he street. My husband lives for this stuff. He is a huge game nerd, mostly old Nintendo so this place is a dream for him. They have a huge selection of old games, newer games and rare things. There is a lot to look at in here. I didn't have any interaction with the employees personally but watched them with other customers. One of my most favorite places in the world! Mostly I only purchase games for the Nes, Snes, or Sega Genesis but when I need advice as to what I should buy or not, these guys are honest and fair. Mostly I talk with Greg, Tony, and Roxy, David, Tristan, and Emanuel. Occasionally the owner, His name is Matt and he comes out and says hello, which is nice. But this team always makes me feel welcome. Always. And I appreciate it very much. I purchased my Super Nintendo, top loader Nes, Sega Genesis, Sega Dreamcast, Sega Saturn, Original Gameboy and countless games to support each system. And I can't begin to explain how much these people have helped me connect with my childhood. It's awesome. Truly a fun place. I love this video game store. I absolutely love this place.. We would go to Game stop, but I just never felt they were truly helpful and kind.. Another Games Castle haves **awesome employees there.. They are genuine, and want to help you and answer any questions that you have.. Its so close to my house, and that its even more of a bonus for me.. So, with all that babbling that I wrote above.. Short foot note version... Go there, buy video games, and look at the huge amount of retro games / consols they have! Out of all the stores I visited on my trip, I would say that Another Castle Video Games is my favorite. Comparing their selection and what they offer, I would say they have a lot more selection compared to Super Smash Games in Tacoma (2nd most from what I experienced). They have whole shelves of games from different generations with even more in the back. Looking in their glass case, they have a lot of CIB uncommon to rare finds such as Tactics Ogre, Xenogears, and some other good cartridge games I can't recall atm. On the side, they have some uncommon - rare 6th generation games (ps2, wii, xbox) that are gaining value in time. Now on the side attached to the building, they have a working coin-op arcade with games ranging from pac man to initial D. I did a quick walk around but it seems they have quite a bit of a selection too. The staff here is pretty awesome. I chatted with one of the clerks and she seems to be pretty chill and is liked by the community around here. Asked her and her co worker some game finds and they both seem to be very knowledgeable with some rare games I asked about (Bomberman 64: The Second Attack, Einhander, Brigandine Legend of Forsena, etc...). Also asked about game trading laws and am glad that it's a lot more lax as compared to here in Communist Kalifornia (30 day hold on traded games and you get fingerprinted for every transaction). Overall, I felt this place was pretty chill and the staff is very likable. One gripe I have about this place is how their parking is structured right outside their building where it could be disastrous if it were crowded. Regardless, great store and great staff! read more

I wish that I'd given this place 4 or 3 stars previously, just so that my review now would shine brighter... this place is AMAZING! Now, in terms of gaming, I have my loves... I've owned a LOT of video game systems and while I'm not a hardcore gamer (at least I'd say), I LOVE having the access to all my old and new gaming options. I have hit that stage where I'm nostalgic for my old video games. I still have my NES and Intellivision and have replaced my Atari 2600. The only system I don't have anymore is my Sega Dreamcast because I gave it to a super-interested friend. I love to buy games for everything from my Atari 2600 to my Xbox360, from the PSP Vita to the Atari Lynx. All available options at Another Castle! Even non-options, they will keep their ear to the ground for you and let you know when they hear wind of it! They buy your used games, sell you their new and used games, talk about games with you, offer great arcade games and pinball for you to play while in-house, have numerous tournaments, support the Seattle Retro Gaming Expo, and generally just ARE interested in video games and will help you with your own video game interests. Top notch all around, I have struggled some days to not come back here 3 times in a day, even just to play their fantastic arcade games! read more

Amazing place! I stumbled into this place with a friend of mine after getting some pho down the road. I knew it was a video game store but had never ventured in or knew anyone who had. The only regret I had after entering the store was that I hadn't been there before. I could see this place becoming a habit. They have vintage arcade machines you can play (missile command, donkey kong, asteroids deluxe, dig dug). I had to get my 4 year old daughter and bring her back with me. She and I both played games that were released when I was her age. The staff is really helpful and I got a sweet new fridge magnet made from an Atari 2600 paddle controller! Thanks guys! Previous review: Poor customer service and satisfaction. I paid $80 and waited a month for a repair that never got fixed. I literally, and I do mean literally, just paid these guys for absolutely nothing in return. Nothing. The gaming system came in with a problem, they said it was a simple fix, I paid them, got the system game, same exact problem still exists. The reason they "can't help me"? It's over the time limit on their "guarantee". What kind of crap is that? I was waiting for my nephews birthday to system and waiting on custom remotes I ordered that just now came. I also trusted Another Castle as I've had no issues with them in the past. But that trust bit me in the ass as the system wasn't repaired. Even if it goes passed the time limit, you'd at least think good business practice is to stand by their service and listen to and keep their customers. What in the world did I just pay you for? I'm lucky I found this place! They repaired my broken PlayStation 3 in a week for only $65. Sounds like a lot, but it's actually the cheapest price around. On top of that the store itself is always a lot of fun to visit. The staff is friendly and always down to shoot the shit about the industry. They carry all games from all consoles and have it on display for you to gawk at. Flipping through a strategy guide for Super Mario RPG in a store is kind of surreal these days.There is also a pretty decent arcade in the back room for you to mess around in. Had to move from Edmonds to Bellingham and the only part of that I didn't like was no longer having this store nearby. They treated my daughters like queens, were more than helpful and knowledgeable. They clearly love what they do. My only issue with them is the laughable amounts they pay for used goods. Don't bother trying, even if you're broke. A pawn shop will pay more. But as a customer, no complaints whatsoever. Hoping I can make it down south to visit again soon! read more

Saved me almost $100. Great service, great repair work. Strongest possible recommendation. Received an Elite controller for my XB1 as a gift. Within a year - and despite taking good care of it - the left bumper broke. Made a crunching noise and the outer edge started flopping around. Sometimes responded to presses, sometimes didn't. Looked online; happens to a bunch of folks. Took it to the Microsoft store. They offered me 10% off a new one. Gift means no proof of purchase, so no replacement. Rather than spend $135 for more of the same flimsy plastic, I did some googling. There are repair kits, but they involved sketchy websites and paying/waiting for overseas shipping. Ugh. Called Another Castle, who said they could repair it and quoted me a price that was only a few bucks more than a kit would have been. A few days after dropping it off, my controller is back and actually *better* than the original. New bumpers are black rather than silver, but made from a different (and way sturdier) plastic. They feel great and work perfectly. read more

If you're looking for low-priced video games for any system, definitely stop here before you buy. I've got a PS3 and they've got the new games I want and used games at amazing prices. I picked up NCAA Football for $4.99 and Top Spin for $12.99. They take trade-ins too. The guys running the store seem to know whatever you could want to know, too. They were able to answer all of my questions without hesitation. I even got to play FF7 for awhile! Great store! read more

This place was a bit smaller than I expected, but it was jammed packed with new & old games. I liked it because it didn't feel picked over like so many other retro gaming stores in the Seattle area. Plus the clerk was super nice and even called a friend to get an answer to a question about the Metal Slug series that I asked. That's great Customer Service right there. Got low balled so bad on my trade ins last time i was in there it was an insult. I will never go back. I had excellent titles, over 20 games, plus a console and was offered $24. This was afew years ago but it was such a bad burn im not willing to step foot in there again. Sure they may have a wide selection there but so does ebay and amazon. If there's something I'm looking for ill go to ebay or next level and willingly pay more rather than supporting a company that makes its money ripping off unsuspecting people. read more

I've always had great experiences each time I've shopped there (and I've been going in for a while, every since they were a wee little place, without the arcade). The staff is amazing, give fair credit for trade ins, selection is stellar, and they are reasonably priced. Oh, and they service your broken consoles. I break them a lot. Highlights of my experience: * I'm a lady, and a gamer. At other establishments I get treated awkwardly at best, and have become almost accustomed to being insulted by staff (oh, you have a wii? of COURSE you do...lemme guess, you just want an RPG...really, you play shooters? realllllly? or the best one: you must be shopping for someone else). Not these folks, they treated me with tons of respect, as they do EVERYONE who walks in there, skirt or no. I always end up talking about games with the staff, who are super friendly and enthusiastic. * My first wave PS3 died multiple times, and I kept bringing it back to them. They patched it back up (I came in less than a month later and he made sure it was free), and finally explained to me honestly that I needed to get a new one, but didn't just try to sell me one on the spot! They were being honest, and I really appreciated that. Made sure each time that the game disk inside was carefully enveloped and taped to the front. * While shopping for games appropriate for my autistic 10 year old (and on our new 360, which I knew very little about), a staff member spent a ton of time really going over some games that kiddo ended up LOVING. They were fun, innocent and challenging, and I am so glad he showed me the choices. Seriously, props to that guy for not just shoving Halo in my hand and sending me out the door. He was cool. * After not finding a game I had been hunting for, a staffer suggested I put it on the 'request list'. Within a week the owner had hunted it down and got it to me at a very reasonable price. Over all, I can't say enough about how great they are, and now that there's a location near Alderwood (which is also staffed by amazing peeps), I have even more excuses to spend money there. When I first walked in to Another Castle, I was sure I had died. Died and gone straight to heaven, people! This place is a cornucopia of gaming delight for people who enjoy electronic entertainment. Being a child of the 80's, I enjoy nothing more than going in there with 5 bucks in quarters and goin to town on the coin-op arcade they have. You can even buy a Mexican Coke to enjoy whilst playing. I have purchased new and used consoles, games and accessories and have never been disappointed. This is about their repair service, not about games. Took my Playstation 3 (60gb backwards compat.) with No Vid/Aud to get fixed, it said on their website they do fix these issues. Also I asked whether they did reballing.They said yes. The ps3 was coming on, accepting disks and ejecting disks, but would not sync with the controller or show any video or play any audio. A week later I had to phone them up myself, and they said they were about the call me.... But my ps3 was not repairable and their repair guy had tried to "reflow" it 3 times. but it still YLODed... I should have had some red flags at this moment because my system didn't YLOD when I brought it in.. I asked them to do a reballing and they reluctantly said they'd ask the repair guy. 2 weeks later no call. So I called again. System was not fixable. I came to pick it up. They Charged me 20 bucks for baking the ps3's graphics chip...... Once home I did indeed find the PS3 YLODDING!!!!! W.T.F I thought.... So it went from almost working to a brick!!!! and I had to pay 20 bucks for it.. Thank you Another Castle for ruining my ps3.... And you know what... the issue was bad firmware, nothing wrong with the hardware.... But that won't help me much now that the board is dead... Avoid, they have no idea what the they are doing like many others. read more
