This is about their repair service, not about games. Took my Playstation 3 (60gb backwards compat.) with No Vid/Aud to get fixed, it said on their website they do fix these issues. Also I asked whether they did reballing.They said yes. The ps3 was coming on, accepting disks and ejecting disks, but would not sync with the controller or show any video or play any audio. A week later I had to phone them up myself, and they said they were about the call me.... But my ps3 was not repairable and their repair guy had tried to "reflow" it 3 times. but it still YLODed... I should have had some red flags at this moment because my system didn't YLOD when I brought it in.. I asked them to do a reballing and they reluctantly said they'd ask the repair guy. 2 weeks later no call. So I called again. System was not fixable. I came to pick it up. They Charged me 20 bucks for baking the ps3's graphics chip...... Once home I did indeed find the PS3 YLODDING!!!!! W.T.F I thought.... So it went from almost working to a brick!!!! and I had to pay 20 bucks for it.. Thank you Another Castle for ruining my ps3.... And you know what... the issue was bad firmware, nothing wrong with the hardware.... But that won't help me much now that the board is dead... Avoid, they have no idea what the they are doing like many others. read more

These guys are thieves. Took my games in for disc repairs, never get called back, I call and ask if they are ready, the employee says "yeah, the are ready to rock, come and get them." I go down there, waste half a tank of gas, to find out that they have lost my discs and say they can do nothing about it. I'm out a Windwaker, Mario Party 4, half a tank of gas and my time wasted. Don't trust these guys. Very shady business practices. read more

I was looking for a certain dreamcast game at Lynnwood, they didn't have it but called this location and alas they had it so I drove over and picked up some other things. Love this place! Tons of classic games (NES, SNES, etc) along with the newer ones, accessories for old consoles, other collectibles, etc. Staff is the friendliest and most knowledgable of all the retro game stores I've been to. The correct word is unexpected... this is not your average independent gaming store. On top of the fact that they get new releases in there is also a collection of classic and imported used games... and an arcade that rivals those found at full tilt. It is a fun spot with employees who seem to know the goods... plus it is nice to hear the Dr. Mario chill theme when you game shop. read more

First I would like to say I feel sad that I have to make this review, I have been going to another castle since it first opened. They used to have fair trade value, good service and decent prices. I loved having a local retro gaming shop and supporting them. It has only been since mid year of 2016 when things changed and it is just getting worse. First trade value stopped being fair you just feel ripped off and stupid me let that go on for awhile. Trying to justify it by saying to my self "they need to make money". Not realizing that they don't care for you the gamer. Second prices, if your a collector like myself your a walking price check. You have cluttered your brain with video game prices from various sources so you know a good deal when you see one and also notice the not so good. More often than not Another Castle has failed in this department. Now I don't mind paying a little more just because you know they have overhead. It is now very likely that you are going to pay 10,20 even 50 dollars more than if you did your own research and found it through other means. I'm not talking rare opportunities where you bought it from some grandma that didn't know the price. Third service, now let me be transparent I think most of the staff are friendly and at the Lynnwood store I never had a problem but Edmonds has gotten ridiculous. I was at the store yesterday ( this whole transaction is what prompted this review it was the last straw) I literally had to wait three hours for my trade to complete. Mind you I have never had to wait that long before. In conclusion with their current practices and so many other ways to get retro games. The best selection, which is well organized; the best prices, better than eBay in most cases; the best staff, always friendly never surly; and the best value on trade-ins (don't even think about going to Gamestop). I really dislike the new staff, they come off as not caring and just trying to get you out of the store rather than working with you and helping you find something you're looking for. This store is great. Unlike GameStop who only deals with the newest systems, Another Castle has a bit of everything. While I appreciate that they have pre-owned PS3 and Wii games, it's even cooler being able to trade-in / purchase games for some classic / obscure systems. I traded in PSX / SNES games that were sitting around and got over $200 in credit towards some new games. Definitely recommend over the corporate chains. read more

back in 2012 my 1st gen ps3 shat the bed I was left with two choices either I go downtown for an advertised competitor with their reflow or give these somewhat locals a chance I chose the later of the two Took 'em a full 10 business days, I guess they are backed up But they assured me all repairs were in-house and my firmware would be untouched So anyway for the better part of $65 they restored it to its original glory Talked to a lady who was picking up her first gen while I was there, seems that it's an issue with several first gen consoles regardless of their use or upkeep Let's fast forward to 2013 it went out again rinse & repeat with Another Castle & out another $65 And then one more toast in 2014 made me reconsider my options so I left it downtown with the cheaper guy. He took it apart & said whoever works @ Another Castle has applied so much gunk it's going to be impossible to fix and I should just throw it away This console has less than a thousand hours of game/movie time on it so I feel the hardware was shitty to begin with and all Another Castle did was apply a band-aid on a gaping wound. Stopped in here to buy a ton of Game Gear games. It's 3:00 on Thursday afternoon, there are 2 people working and only one "customer" who was chatting with the employees about how much GameStop sucks. I stood around for 10 minutes looking at the Game Gear case and didn't even get a "Hello", or a "How can I help you?". I walked out without even getting a "Goodbye". Having moved down this past year to Lynnwood from Bellingham I was looking for a good game store. Yes, there are pretty much Gamestops on every city corner but I was looking for something local and not a big chain. Another Castle video games has a location in Lynnwood and Edmonds. I recently went into the Lynnwood branch and was looking to buy a Nintendo Wii used. Was quickly greeted by a salesman who asked what he could help me with. I told him I was looking for a Wii. He went and checked and after a few minutes came back apologizing that they were currently out of stock but he could call their Edmonds location for me. He did and luckily they were in stock! Drove there right away and was greeted by a very friendly manager who had the Wii put aside for me. He opened the box to show me the unit and said there's a 30 day money back guarantee if it doesn't work. I was delightfully surprised that the console was almost half of what Gamestop was charging! These two stores are great because they carry tons of different systems and peripherals, toys, stickers and arcade games as well. The pricing here is very reasonable and they give you good trade in for games( unlike Gamestop) I love supporting local business and I'll be doing my game shopping here from now on. read more

My friend told me about ANOTHER CASTLE ARCADE and i was excited knowing that it was a small buisness just trying to make another dollar vs the greedy corporation Returning my used game was not a good experience!!... i had bought my game the night before. i went back to return it simply because i didnt like the game. Mind you, this is the very next day that i tried to return the used game. I had lost my receipt and told the guy at ANOTHER CASTLE ARCADE that i didnt have my receipt and that i simply just wanted to get another game for the equal or less amount. He stated that since i didnt have my receipt, he wouldn't be able to even give me an even trade or store credit for the amount of the game. There for i was just stuck with the game or he would give me almost nearly nothing back to buy the game from me and add the credit towards another game !.... i was in disbelief. I have always supported small buisnesses to help the people grow and achieve. I felt like i was taken advantage of and felt like they didnt care on trying to make it right by simply just doing an even exchange !..... I have always shoped at GAMESTOP and now looks like i will have to continue with them unfortunately. At least i can always trade my used games at GAMESTOP for the equal amount i bought the game for if i dont like the game. This is an amazing video game store, they have everything from old nintendo games to arcades. You can put your name on a list and when they receive that game they will call you to come get it. The guy that's helped me out whenever I go there is Tristan, (definitely go to him or ask for him if you need help with anything). He is very very knowledgeable, helpful and friendly and knows how to treat his customers and more than anything knows his video games. The onlyy reason why I gave this place a 4star instead of 5stars is because of the attitude and the bad treatment I got from this big dude with long hair that works there. One day I went there to ask if they knew how to make my laptop play one of my old pc game and this big guy with long hair asked me what game, when I showed it to him he says "uh no!" (while looking at me like I was stupid) so I asked him really? So I cant play it? And of course again he gives me this look again and says no there's nothing we can do and looked at me up and down.. really? Just because I'm a girl and dont know a whole lot about games you're going to treat me and talk to me like I'm stupid? I got out of there right away... I wish Tristan would of been there or someone elsr that would of been more helpful. I ended up going to a computer repair shop by my house and they got my game working! It has a phenomenal selection of games, systems, peripherals and toys/accessories. It has a friendly, engaging and helpful staff. It has a very easy-to-browse layout. I love this place. For our anniversary my husband bought me an original NES, with Super Mario Bros 3 and Legend of Zelda. My daughter and I love to play Super Mario on Saturday's, and I love introducing her to my old favorites. Most of the staff are friendly and helpful, but I did have one experience that left a taste in my mouth. I was asking if they might know the name of an old PC RPG from the late 80's. I described the game to them, and the response I received was, "Sounds like an old NES game." Ummm... Did I stutter? I said it was a PC game. I played it with a friend on his IBM. I would have been very happy with a, "That's not familiar", or "Sorry, I have no idea." Talking to me like I am stupid is not an acceptable option. Maybe my girl parts confused them and they couldn't gawk and think at the same time. Also, talking to my husband instead of me when I am the one making the purchase. For real? Honestly, it gets a little old being treated like a second class citizen in the gamer community just because I am female. Still I love the store and I have a lot of fun when I go. I just don't talk to their sales staff if I can avoid it, and instead I do my research online where I can ask questions of people who aren't confused by boobs. read more

This is the kind of place that takes waaay too long to find. All the trades I've done there fetch a respectable price and the clerks are awesome and total nerds like myself. There are knowledgeable about games in general and can answer pretty much any question, and if not will at least try. The customer service goes far above and beyond norm. For instance, because I am so anal about my games, they've let me, for a fee of course, swap damaged cases or booklets for more intact, newer ones. They have an awesome selection new and old and always have the newest releases incoming. They have the dates of release for easy reference and even let you preorder. I love that they have imports there, as I am always on the look out for a few select games. Another awesome plus is that they totally support the gaming community and have tournaments, Pokemon trading days, and tons more social events to help players get all the stuff you cant get on your own. They have an amazing selection of arcade cabinets and is totally worth going to the arcade alone. This is the place to go if you're a gamer. The end. read more

first off yes they do have a very good selection of games,but everything is way over priced. the store is super hot and right when you walk in the door a mold smell hits you and its just terrible. so my ps3 got the ylod and i searched and found many good results and decided to go here because i saw good reviews and because they were close. so the ad said that they would fix the ps3 for 50$ in like 2 days, but when i showed up down there i found out it cost 60+ and its gonna take like a week. so after then cleaning me out and waiting a week i got it back went home and tried it out and it worked just like they said. im more of a xbox person so i rarely play ps3 so 3 or 4 months go by of me maybe going on the ps3 once a week for like 30min and one morning it fried again. so after all that it was just a big waste of time read more
