The estimate was solid and he was very honest about what did and didn't need to be replaced - we were confident they would do a good job. The initial work itself was indeed very good. Though it took them a very long time to commit to an actual starting date due to another "big job" they had. Aside from some weather delays, there were long gaps time when they promised work would begin but several warm sunny warm days would go by without a word. Once they finally started, the work progressed mostly well with one gap in the road when we didn't see them for a week. They finished the job and asked for the remaining payment due. Upon inspection, we noticed a few things that still needed addressing. After a few more days a couple of guys came by and did a very thorough job of touching up the missing stuff. Will was the main guy for the touch-ups and was truly awesome. He was very dedicated to ensuring we were happy with every little detail. So we arranged for payment of the balance due. But then... it rained a couple of days later and we saw a large puddle of water pooled up on the landing right outside our back door. This is our main egress to our cars with kids, etc. so it was kind of a big deal. And with winter approaching, it would be a sheet of ice and potentially dangerous when trying to carry our 2 year-old to the car. I contacted Ryan directly on 9/17 and he said no problem and he'd send someone to pound it out the next day. Nobody showed. I contacted him again on 10/4, 11/3, 11/14, and 12/6. I got a response only once on 11/14 saying sorry and he'd come the next day, but nobody showed up. So now, we have a constant puddle and sheet of ice outside our back door that my daughters and wife have all slipped and fell on on their way to work and school. It's pretty disappointing that what was so close to a great job was ruined by this small little thing they couldn't be bothered to fix because we had already paid them. I don't think we'd hire them again. Despite the good work they did initially, and the excellent service from Will, the inability to do the right thing and follow through is a deal breaker. Not following through on a seemingly small detail has caused a huge pain for us.

The person spent time going over the work and left, saying he would have quote in few days. Waited till end of the week and no quote. My wife reached out on Friday and was told they would work on the quote and have by Monday. Well this was few weeks ago and no response. I don't understand why you guys waste my wife's time looking at project, then don't follow up. If the job is not big enough just tell us, don't waste our time. I would say if you have big job they deem it is worth their time, give them a call, otherwise find contractor that actually wants to do the work.

We recently hired Chicago Porch Experts by Emtrak Construction to redeck the third floor and then power wash and stain the entire porch. We had a terrible experience. The primary issue is with communication and organization. The actual work, primarily the redecking, is good, which is saving them from a one-star rating. But they lack the organizational skills to work on a project of this scope. I'm not going to list out every single incident, but there was a lot of miscommunication throughout the entire process that caused a ton of strife for the building. Lots of my emails went unanswered, and they refused to schedule anything, even when I'd ask for tentative dates, in favor of either showing up unannounced or only giving me 12 hours notice of when work would start. I have to give ample heads up to the building so that they can move their furniture and so that they know they won't have access to the deck for the day. Despite telling them this, Chicago Porch Experts would not/could not accommodate this. They tried to make things right, I'll give them credit for that, but it was not sufficient for the amount of issues created. Out of all the contractors I've worked with in my role as president, this is the worst of them by far. I don't recommend using Chicago Porch Experts if you're a condo association or anyone looking to have larger work done past simple decks for single family residences.

My neighbors had a garage that was demolished. The garage gave an illusion that my yard was completely fenced in. After a couple of years, I finally reached out to Top Line Fence. Being a retired project manager, they are considered a little costly to me. It cost $1300 just to install 25 linear ft of Cedar Wood. Initially, they quoted me $1400. I was able to negotiate with Gary, the estimator, and received $100 off for essentially being a returning customer. Gary, the office staff, and the technicians are all upbeat, cheerful, and with great customer service. The techs that came out were surprised with a bee hive I didn't know was present. I thought the work would be delayed and that I'd have to call a local bee hive remover. The guys instead went to Home Depot and purchased out of their own pocket, whatever they needed to get rid of it. That was superb! The fence smells and looks great. I can't wait until it's weathered like the others. My only reason for giving four stars is because they're not up to date with technology. I would've preferred paying through an online link and using docusign. I had to drive way up north to pay in person because I don't give my credit or debit information over the phone. Otherwise, quality work, and it was done in one trip. I plan on using them again for the front yard.

I had requested estimates from 5 other contractors and Brothers was the most reasonable and lowest. I was a bit hesitant since they only had 1 review on yelp but I decided to take a chance since Francisco (one of the Brother owners) seemed very genuine and sincere. Well, my intuition paid off. They always came on time and unfortunately for them, they picked one of the hottest weeks in chicago to be working outside but they worked all day everyday without any complaints until the job was completed. Francisco was very attentive to every question or suggestion I had for him. I am very impressed with the integrity of this company and hope the best for their business in the future. I will definitely be recommending them to anybody and everybody!

After getting several quotes and recommendations, I went with Michael Kelly, owner of Mr. Fence, to remove the 60 ft long wood fence used to separate 2 adjacent properties and replace it with a more economical chain link fence. I chose Michael because he was responsive and willing to readjust his work schedule to meet my short time frame. His pricing was also very fair and competitive for the scope of work. After the site visit and getting his formal quote, Michael and his crew was able to start work within 2 days on a Saturday. David did a great job in removing the wood fence, installing the new support posts in concrete, and cleaning up afterwards on the first day. Michael came 2-3 days later after the concrete had time to fully cure to install the chain link to the support posts and install a new gate. Throughout the process, Michael was open and accommodating to my thoughts and ideas to ensure the finished product met my expectations. He also helped me with some related minor "handyman" type repairs that was well beyond his scope of work which were much appreciated. Michael made sure the work was done right and to my satisfaction. I highly recommend Mr. Fence for your big or small fencing needs. Mr. Fence has become my preferred fence company and I have no hesitation in simply calling them and using them again.
