I don't have a lot of expectation of "resorts" in the UP in MI. This was one of the worst. In light of covid, I expected it to at least be extra clean. It was far from that. There were dirty fingerprints all over the back of the door, sticky spray stuff on the walls and pictures, thick dust on the baseboards... The walls were thin, and the neighbors were loud (but not inappropriately so). There was supposed to be a "futon". There was a dirty couch I wouldn't have let my dog on. The positives: The mattress was newer (with flat, old pillows). There was a nice porch (with two chairs for three rooms to share). No front desk. Check in is in the bar, and check out is in the restaurant (which appeared to be a popular breakfast place). read more

Pines Resort - Filthy furnace vent. - Hotels Near Me - Copper Harbor, Michigan

This is one of the motels/resorts located here at the end of the world. At least, that's what the tip of the Keweenaw Peninsula seems like when you get here. The Pines is a throwback type of motel that has been modernized in a tasteful manor. The old front walk has been enclosed into a nice sun porch. The rooms are large and comfortable but amenities are lacking. While there is a coffee pot there is no hair dryer. There is no refrigerator nor microwave in the room - there is a refrigerator and microwave in the common are of the sun porch. The furniture is a bit sparse, in fact, if you're here for more than a day, there are no drawers here (except two small ones in the television stand) so you'll continue to live out of your suitcase. There is nothing to place your suitcase on except the floor. The only area to hang coats and clothes is in the bathroom. Speaking of the bathroom, they are short of towel racks. It is a little pricey for what you get, but that might be market driven. I suspect there are usually more tourists in Copper Harbor than there are hotel rooms. read more

BEWARE OF $15 NON-REFUNDABLE FEE. I made a reservation a few weeks ago for a up coming snowmobile trip. Due to lack of snow in area I had to cancel. I did it with a week notice and was advised the $15 was non-refundable. 7 days is more than enough time to cancel and feel this is a shady business practice. I'll be sure to advise the clubs I belong to not to stay at Pines Resort. Keep your $15. Plenty of other places to stay in Copper Harbor. read more

I went and got a coffee to go. They charged me $2.25 for a 12 oz cup of institutional coffee. That price is equivalent to a bigger cup of quality coffee at Starbucks! The rooms are musty smelling and dark. Very old decor. I would try other places in copper harbor before here. read more

We called a day before arriving in CH with our pup and got a 2 night reservation for a cabin. Stone's throw from Brickside Brewery and the room was clean. It's not fancy here but everything worked just fine and we enjoyed our trip. Breakfast in the Pines restaurant is great and the service is top-notch. Since we almost always travel with our pup, dog-friendly lodging is very important to us. Thankful that The Pines accommodates folks like us. read more

The Pines is pretty disappointing. I'm an upper Michigan resident familiar with the Copper Harbor area, (and I know that none of the places there are very fancy) but this place is subpar. When my girlfriend and I arrived the room wasn't clean. The consolation prize was a free drink at the bar. Also, the ceiling panels are water damaged and falling apart, there were no hangers in the closet, and nowhere to hang a towel in the bathroom. The Wi-Fi does not reach to many of the hotel rooms, The sauna is tiny with nowhere to get water for the rocks, and the hot tub had no water in it. Also, the walls are paper thin so expect to hear everything your neighbors are saying. Lastly, when we went to check out at 10 AM no one was at the bar to take the key. Considering there were many places in the area that were easily $25-$30 cheaper per night this place was a big disappointment. read more

It seems that the hotel receptionist doesn't know her business at all. She didn't tell us where our rooms are, which is not a problem in most hotels. But this one? Their restaurant offers good value for the price. Simple food, fast service. The place is popular among locals. I'd come again.

They stop serving food by 8pm, at least that's what we were told. The waitress had to come back to the table 4 times to get our entire drink order right for 7 people. The bathrooms were clean and restaurant appeared roomy and clean as well. read more

Reserved a motel unit in April for our July 4th get-away. Arrived to check-in (at the bar) and they placed us in a cabin, after stating we reserved the motel (with email confirmation) there was nothing, just hand me your credit card. Being a holiday weekend, riding on 2 wheels and late afternoon in an unfamiliar area - our option was the cabin. If you like spiders, we don't - killed multiple and webs everywhere! The floor leaned, had to lift the bathroom door up to use as it rubbed on floor, window curtain see-thru - had to hang towel over, small nook window rattled - had to leave it open, wifi is non-existent with Verizon, we left nothing on the floor or bed... this is the worst place I have ever stayed. I actually expected some type of rodent to visit us. I did return to the bar/check-in but Ken the owner could not be found, there were actually several people looking for him. Upon our return home, I contacted the owners regarding the reservation and other concerns, their response was "how would you like it handled?" A refund would be ethical, now after 3 weeks of no response and 2 additional attempts to contact, this review is definitely warranted. We only had one meal here, was below average but fine. There are many other places in Copper Harbor to enjoy - reserve early and don't plan your stay here. read more
