We are definitely giving this five stars for a motel. We picked a room that was right on the water. The room had a sliding door with chairs outside. It could not have been more enjoyable and relaxing. Also, even though it is a motel, the person who did the decor definitely has a talent for colors and style. Two thumbs up. I felt so lucky to find this motel on such short notice! Copper Harbor is very limited on places to stay but I was able to book one night here right on Lake Superior! I walked out my patio door to the majestic lake of the north. Come to find out the Isle Royale Ferry Departs from this area! If I had known that ahead of time, I would have booked a trip to the isolated isle! It's on my bucket. I truly enjoyed my stay and hope to be back here one day! We stayed two nights in mid August. The room was clean, had a small fridge. The view is what you come for. We were directly on the water and loved watching freighters off in the distance and the Island Queen setting out for the day. Each room has 2 chairs on the patio, there are also 2 docks, lots of geese. There was a young man tasked with removing the geese's mess each morning so it was kept decently clean. One night another guest caught a salmon right off the dock! The drawbacks are an awkwardly placed bathroom. My tall companion knees hit the wall using the toilet, and the area next to the tub was equally narrow. The window facing the park area has to be kept closed due to noise. I like having a window open to sleep, so was a wee bit sad at that. Both the Isle Royale ferry and Jamsen's are maybe a 2 minute walk if you're slow. Do yourself a favor and go to Jamsen's for coffee, a donut, turnover or breakfast sandwich. The coffee cake is stellar! Overall, I'd stay here again and try to not get the room next to the ice machine. (Right by the window). The wifi worked most of the time for us. Cell reception is almost non existent otherwise. read more

We slept in the room next to where local lore had Iggy Pop vacationing as a child with his family. We got to experience the northern lights right off the dock since the motel faces north and south. Walked right out our back door and on the dock and took this amazing pic in June! Can't wait to return! read more

I chose to give 4 stars primarily due to the waterfront location. The motel room itself would get a 3. The view was great; got lucky and saw the northern lights. We were there in October and it was too chilly to keep the slider open so we didn't get to hear the water, but this would be great in the summer. The room had a fridge but no microwave. WiFi was available and worked fine. The room was a little dated-looking, but generally cute. A few things that were disappointing: there was no electrical outlet on my side of the bed to plug in my CPAP machine, there was a stain on the carpet, the tiny bathroom had no vent fan or outlet to plug in my hair dryer, the room smelled musty, the ceiling tiles were kind of grubby, the bathroom sink barely drained, and the bathroom ceiling was cracked. All in all, I felt it was very overpriced for the condition of the room. read more

They made assumptions based off of little to no evidence. Claimed we had dogs with us when our dogs were left home, we have photos of our dogs with the sitters. We had washed our cloths before leaving and brought our own blankets. All we used was a pillow. They claimed there was dog hair all over the bed, the sheets, the pillows, and the 2 chairs we never sat on. They also claim to have found dog food. It's funny all these claims because the maid said they "found" evidence of dogs in the room. Check the cameras we had no pets. Assumptions just make a fool out of everyone involved. read more

Great little spot on the water in Copper Harbor with 50s charm. Cute little courtyard & clean rooms with coffee, WiFi and ice. A little musty; the place would be perfect if they ripped out the carpet and put some updated vinyl or pergo flooring in. read more

Stayed here the night before getting on the ferry boat out to the island. Pretty basic 1960's motel. Pricy for being in the middle of no where but they got you because it's right next door to the ferry. Stay the night, park your car across the street, walk to the harbor, get on boar, go. It's all very close and easy access. Bed was firm and comfy, good nights sleep. Never used the tv. Bathroom was fine. Shower and water pressure was good strong stream. Beautiful view out back of the lake, an unexpected highlight. read more

We came up for a weekend get away and chose to stay here. It is a very nice little place right on the water with a spectacular view, and in a convenient spot. The personnel was friendly, the room was clean, nice tv and what not. Our only issue was the bed was extremely uncomfortable. After a long day of touring in our vehicle, we were looking forward to a nice comfy nights rest. The bed was the opposite of what we were hoping for. Other than that, no complaints. read more

My preferred hotel in Copper Harbor in that it is the closest hotel to the Isle Royale Queen ferry. The back of the hotel borders up against Copper Harbor which is right up to Lake Superior, offering beautiful views. The hotel itself is very spartan but efficient and economical. At the center of Copper Harbor this is a nice place to stop when on your way to Isle Royale. read more

As a plus: 1-you get a Lake Superior view from your window. 2-cost:We paid around one hundred per night. If you're looking for a fancy and perfect hotel, look elsewhere. But this hotel has a very home-y and small town feel. There is not wifi, but a short walk to any local restaurant will yield some wifi. The best part of this hotel is the VIEW! Awesome view, awesome room, awesome staff and all in an awesome little town. Everything was so nice and clean here, although it has been here for many years, you would not know it, it's so well kept. Out here on the tip of the Keweenaw Peninsula you can sit on your patio and watch the sun come up or the sun gently setting on Lake Superior. No cell phone coverage in Copper Harbor, and that was actually pretty nice. Our room did have great wifi, so you can if you wish, check the weather, tourist sights or keep in touch. I would recommend turning it all off and soaking in the atmosphere the King Copper offers. I can't wait to go back next year. read more

This was possibly the worst motel room we've ever had. The door wall and the accompanying screen door were both off track. The staff tried to fix it but it's obvious that the motel needs serious upgrading. The bathroom floor was giving in to excessive wear feeling like it could cave in. The flies were outrageous but there was a fly swatter that came with the room. To cap it off, the water turned frigid during my morning showers. $239 for 2 nights is excessive. The wifi worked well. This motel is very cozy and has the best view of Lake Superior in all of Copper Harbor. The price is not bad for how close you are to the lake. It is simply breathtaking. I also like that you park right outside your room door so that you can keep an eye on your vehicle. Another perk, it is located in the middle of town so everything is in walking distance from it.
