    Morning view from our room

Perfect spot to watch the sun rise in the morning! This motel is clean, well kept, and right on Lake Superior. Within walking distance to all the "shops" in Copper Harbor. Staff was very friendly and helpful. We've stayed her twice and will return again.

This place was no castle, but we enjoyed our stay there. Our room was nice and clean and pretty roomy. There was a table right inside the door that we moved over by the slider so that we could sit and play cards and look out the window at the view at the same time. We had the end unit and there was a little patio with chairs that we could sit on. We were also able to make use of some chairs that were closer to the water. Owners were very friendly. There was also a communal fire pit and we sat outside and enjoyed a fire and were able to converse with others that were staying there. The only reason that I gave this a four instead of a five is because there was no microwave in the room. Not being able to get seating (or even take out) at any of the local restaurants (Covid was in play) we were forced to purchase microwavable foods at the local general store and cook them back at the motel. There was a communal microwave on the porch outside the office that we were able to use to cook our dinner, and while that made for some "memories", it was rather inconvenient, especially since it was raining and we had to walk back and forth to our room. We would totally stay at this place again if we are ever in the area.

We stayed here again four years later and things have not changed. It is still a very nice clean location that is super quiet and very reasonably priced place to spend a few days or weeks. There are a lot of different activities around and the restaurants are very good as well.

Have stayed at 2 different rooms and one of the cabins here, and it's a really nice place. Very clean! We were impressed with the rooms and the housekeeping seemed to take their time in all the rooms as we could see them as they were going around in the morning. Would recommend! In the top floor if they had the bed flipped to the opposite wall you could watch the sunrise from the room ;)

This place is no frills but what it lacks in amenities it easily makes up for in appeal and location. Situated on the edge of the water of an inlet to Lake Superior. The front lawn has a shared fire pit that really came in handy on a cool September evening. The back lawn had a shared deck that ran the length of the hotel, a well manicured lawn with lounge chairs, geese and a great breeze. At times we could hear the air horn for a ship taking passengers to Isle Royale. The hotel also featured some stand alone cabins that looked quite charming. The owner was friendly and a fellow mountain biker.

A lovely spot to enjoy your coffee.

Very rustic cabins, but the friendly staff and amazing views/location more than make up for any shortcomings. Excellent place!

The rooms were clean and attractive (we had a beautiful view of the harbor) a good value for the price, recommended.

I walked out my patio door to the majestic lake of the north. Come to find out the Isle Royale Ferry Departs from this area! If I had known that ahead of time, I would have booked a trip to the isolated isle! It's on my bucket. I truly enjoyed my stay and hope to be back here one day! On a side note, the motel has been updated and it's quite charming!

We were directly on the water and loved watching freighters off in the distance and the Island Queen setting out for the day. Each room has 2 chairs on the patio, there are also 2 docks, lots of geese. There was a young man tasked with removing the geese's mess each morning so it was kept decently clean. One night another guest caught a salmon right off the dock! The drawbacks are an awkwardly placed bathroom. My tall companion knees hit the wall using the toilet, and the area next to the tub was equally narrow. The window facing the park area has to be kept closed due to noise. I like having a window open to sleep, so was a wee bit sad at that. Both the Isle Royale ferry and Jamsen's are maybe a 2 minute walk if you're slow. Do yourself a favor and go to Jamsen's for coffee, a donut, turnover or breakfast sandwich. The coffee cake is stellar! Overall, I'd stay here again and try to not get the room next to the ice machine. (Right by the window). The wifi worked most of the time for us. Cell reception is almost non existent otherwise.

We had gone in January in hope of seeing the northern lights, but sadly it was overcast and snowy the whole time. This is a "dark sky" location, so it was a bummer. The cabins are adorable. Built by the WPA in the 1930s, but completely updated with modern heating and bathrooms. There was a fireplace, a nice touch. The beds were comfortable and the space was clean. There was a small fridge and a microwave. They do provide simple breakfast, lunch and dinner that is included in the stay. If you want something different, there is a restaurant in town. There is a general store if you need extra snacks, drinks, etc. And Chef Wi will make a special dinner for you if you plan ahead (costs extra). She was so kind and attentive and made us feel welcome. She called us ahead of time to be sure we were aware of the dining options. Cross country skiing and snow shoeing equipment was available at no cost. It's too far away for us to go again, but it must be incredibly beautiful in the spring and summer.
