We had gone in January in hope of seeing the northern lights, but sadly it was overcast and snowy the whole time. This is a "dark sky" location, so it was a bummer. The cabins are adorable. Built by the WPA in the 1930s, but completely updated with modern heating and bathrooms. There was a fireplace, a nice touch. The beds were comfortable and the space was clean. There was a small fridge and a microwave. They do provide simple breakfast, lunch and dinner that is included in the stay. If you want something different, there is a restaurant in town. There is a general store if you need extra snacks, drinks, etc. And Chef Wi will make a special dinner for you if you plan ahead (costs extra). She was so kind and attentive and made us feel welcome. She called us ahead of time to be sure we were aware of the dining options. Cross country skiing and snow shoeing equipment was available at no cost. It's too far away for us to go again, but it must be incredibly beautiful in the spring and summer.

The highlight of my stay was the dark sky park, which is located on this property. It was a beautiful clear night and I was able to see a million stars and view the northern lights. The cottage was quaint but are the perfect size for a party of 2. Has all the necessities you could want for a weekend trip or a little longer. The queen beds have a lofted single above them which could double as an extra sleeping space or storage if you needed. And the owner was very nice and accommodating to us! I would overall recommend the stay if you are in the Keweenaw peninsula looking to explore some of the beautiful nature in the area.

They rent cabins which look very nice. Renting online was a breeze! We arrived 30 mins early like they requested and it took maybe 15 minutes to sign the documents and look over the unit. The staff was very friendly which is always helpful. Their units are brand new and have navigation which we found very helpful. The side by side was very clean when we picked it up. There is trail access right on their property which is very convenient. We'd love to go back and rent from them again and stay in a cabin as well. If you're anywhere in the area, I recommend renting a side by side from here or even renting a cabin.

They wanted to charge a card $1500 before I could rent a UTV. I rented one from Copper Country Rentals at The Trailside Lodge the day before and they had no such fee. I rented one from M&M Powersports the same morning and they had no such charge. Any business that would be any less than completely up front about a charge of that size is questionable at best in my opinion. Take your money elsewhere!!!

The kitchen is huge and has everything you need to cook and make coffee. The second floor consisted of the two en-suite bedrooms, a washer/dryer, and futon couch. There was also a shuffleboard and foosball table, although we didn't use any of these. My husband and I had our own bedroom on the second floor; I really loved the view of the Keweenaw Waterway and the town of Houghton just across from us. It was incredibly beautiful! Also, the price for two nights was NOT bad at all. When we stayed it was basically under $200 per night. A lot of other comparable places would easily charge an upwards of $500 per night! I feel a little sad that we didn't stay longer because I could have easily stayed here for at least a week, but alas, life gets in the way and I have to get back into the real world. But if I'm ever around Houghton, MI, I would totally come back here again!

The hot tub jets were filthy and there was a dead fly still stuck to the ceiling from who knows when. The dishes in the kitchen felt sticky and all had to be washed before we could use them. Worst though was, it was cold. We came in January to snowshoe and see this beautiful area in winter. Temps were in the teens most days. Could not get the temp inside above 65 on some days. Showers were also cold until late morning. We made it work, but I would not want to stay here again. Wish we'd read the Yelp reviews before we came.
