Such a treat to relax and rewind at this outdoor spa. They feature several pools including a hot mineral one that's amazing. We especially appreciated the various saunas and steam rooms. Also loved the salt exfoliation station! Must try the wood fire oven pizza! Also the ice cream. Highly recommend it after a long day of hiking or skiing! read more

Beautiful. Perfect spa. With hot tub. Mineral spa. Cold plunge. Multiple saunas. Good pizza.

We came here for the Nordic Spa and color chair lift. The view was truly spectacular. If you are in the Keweenaw and you have never been on top of Bohemia in the autumn, you must do it at least once. The colors were amazing. The spa was also nice, though they do not supply towels. Bring your own or spend an extra $6. read more

We loved the fall colors chair lift ride! Best views of the UP! We should have planned the whole day there-the Nordic Spa was hopping and the pizza/drinks combo was popular from the looks of it. Great spot! read more

The ski lift ride was wonderful. It was well worth the cost. The attendants at the bottom and top were helpful and fun. The only downside was our experience in the ticket office-store. The employee there was rude, unhelpful and unfriendly. He is the first stop for the resort and should be more welcoming. There were many that had the same impression. read more

My four young adults age 18-20 years old and I spent the afternoon there yesterday. We had the best time going from various dry, steam, herbal saunas to the hot tub and cold plunge. The youngins played volleyball in the large pool for a while. They ate 3 or 4 pizzas which were delicious by the way. We watched a staff member stretch the crust out and top them accordingly. I was a little surprised the pizza was so fresh and delectable at a pizza cabana but everyone noted how good it was. The amenities there far outweigh the price which at this time was $35/person for a day pass. The kids are asking me if we can go back already today! Family friendly but still peaceful and quiet. We want to spend a night in one of the yurts. Those looked really cool! A special place for sure. read more

Hi I'm Dominic from New Orleans Louisiana. I highly recommend this place. I travel to Calumet every year doing construction and I love the atmosphere and the peace and quiet at the spa. I totally relax in the sauna and pool. Great place and good pizza read more

I don't ski, so I can't say much to the slopes and also we visited during Labor Day week so obviously no snow. However, we stopped by here on our way through Lac La Belle after visiting the Delaware mine. We were intrigued by the wood-fired pizza! Since I am not a skier, I've never seen anything like Mt Bohemia in my life. They have all these cool hut looking things for lodging, my husband says they're really warm in the winter. Next to the lodging is their Nordic spa area, which has a pool and hot tub. Inside there's a bar with restroom and sauna, and there's a larger sauna area near where you order your pizza. Since this review is mostly about the pizza, let me just say the wood-fired pizza is amazing! I'm not sure how different the ordering process was before covid, but you're able to order online with their WiFi. We got The Works, which is veggies with pepperoni, a lot like a supreme. We got to sit on the deck outside the bar area and enjoy the view. Definitely recommend it to anyone passing through, such a neat little place. read more

Extreme skiing is an understatement. Everything here is magical. If you don't know what I mean, ask somebody who's been. My two trips here were amazing. The staff are all personable with attentive lifties jamming out amongst other shenanigans and the insane ski areas really aren't even comparable to skiing or snowboarding anywhere else in the midwest. Crazy good times are absolutely guaranteed. read more

Hands down, best riding in Michigan and best in midwest. With that said, no beginners should ride here, for their safety and for the enjoyment of everyone that is not a beginner. The culture here is awesome, think old school party mountain. Don't know what I'm talking about? Here's what you need to do. Look up It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Season 11, Episode 3, "The Gang Hits the Slopes". Watch that. Then buy Out Cold and watch it. Now place The Gang on a 900 vertical foot, black diamond cut-out of a Colorado mountain, because that is what the riding terrain is like. I've added a photo from It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia to help illustrate the après-ski. read more

I've skied all over MI, WI, IL and several places in Colorado; Steamboat, Keystone and Breckenridge. In comparison to all of these Mt Bohemia is still the hardest place I have ever hit the slopes at. Everything is black diamond worthy. On our first day there one of our group was on one of their only blue runs and overheard several people yell out "This isn't a blue run!" The runs may be shorter than those out West, but they are just as challenging and steep. Since none of the runs are groomed the natural moguls come out if it hasnt snowed recently. Luckily it snows often, and when it does the powder is amazing! On our last day there we hit 8-12 inches of fresh snow and this was by far the best skiing I have ever encountered. The place is super low key, has great staff, and is my favorite ski destination. My only complaint is that I haven't been going here ever since they opened in 2000. Mt Bohemia is sweet - check it out! read more

One of the most unique and wonderful skiing experience you will find in the Midwest. I've lived and skied all over the US and as I've aged I've turned away from the "big business" ski areas and enjoy more local small ski areas. This is where the common man and woman go to play. This is the best kept secret on the Midwest and worth the road trip and the distance traveled! read more

Mount Bohemia - As close to Rocky Mountain skiing you will find!! - Rafting/Kayaking Near Me - Lac La Belle, Michigan

Overatted, not worth the trip majority of the time. There is a mythical lore to this place, "experts only" you see advertised. You are probably driving 5 plus hours to get here, and if it has not snowed in the past few hours or snows while on your trip are going to be disappointed. They do not groom at all. Planned a trip ahead of time because you have a job? Well sorry maybe next year you will get a pow day. Enjoy the skied out feeder or main runs that are now icy and you can go into the woods and try to find some pocket of pow that is a couple of hundred feet of a run if your lucky. You can than pop out on a road and hop on a bus back to a low speed lift to get you back up. All the other ski hills are open from southern Wisconsin up, well not "Boho" we have wasted our capital on a "Nordic Spa" instead of snowmaking or grooming equipment. You again should have known not to plan a trip in December or early January because they will most likely not be open. Well, luckily You bought the 100 dollar season pass, just waste another 10+ hours round trip to the middle of nowhere and hope for snow. But be careful of our snow reports or advocates on social media claiming it's great conditions, they can't be trusted. read more

We came here August 2018 for a very short 2 night trip, just bc we love the UP that much! It was a LONG 7.5hr drive from Chicago, but worth every minute. We stayed in the Aqua cabins and paid for the all-inclusive. The cabins were spotless and very beautiful! They provided 3 meals that were simple but delicious. The activities were guided by their extremely sweet and patient staff. Shout-out to Kyle and Kevin who took great care of us while Sea Kayaking on Lake Superior. We really had an AWESOME time. We will definately be back!!! read more

My latest trip was the worst vacation experience of my life. It was thirty two degrees and poor snowboarding on day one. Icy/Choppy conditions. We rented a cabin for four days. The cabins share a wall with another cabin. Each side is occupied by separate parties. Management for the most part sided on our neighbors being able to play their music all day until 23:00 as loud as they wanted. Told us we could only expect to sleep after that, and that's the only guarantee they could give us. Our only right in renting a room for 4 days was apparently a six our window that we should have somehow known about. Amazingly enough our neighbors decided to turn the music to what I'm assuming was max whenever they left. Management never came out to actually hear how loud it was and only took actions when the party bragged at the bar that they were blasting us while they were not there. This was at 22:30. We asked to swap rooms. We asked for a refund. Management told us no refunds. We were expecting to give and take as needed. We left for our 8+ hour drive home at 23:30 the kids openly mocking us trying to start a fight. We stayed less than 24 hours total. I could hear music as we drove away. read more

As stated on their website, "Warning: No beginners allowed." The easiest runs are blue, all three of them. The rest of the 70+ runs are single-, double-, and triple-black diamond. The vertical is approx. 900', overlooking the beautiful upper peninsula of Michigan. It's all natural snow here. The backcountry provides enough thrill without the threat of gargantuan mountains such as those in Utah. Lots of trees, cliffs, and untouched powder. Some runs are moguls-only, great for honing your carving skills and reflexes. Every March they've got this crazy mardi gras weekend event where you'll see things similar to MTV Spring Break. A bit trashy but everyone seemed to be having fun. They used to have this "women ski free" promotion. Not sure if they still offer it. This resort and Mont Ripley make for a great (long-) weekend getaway from Chicago. read more

Despite the rigged reviews on Yelp we came out to try and snowboard. No refunds on anything even if 6 months advanced. The staff was rude when trying to get tickets. The cabins are sub-par. The hot tub has a inconsistent hours. I have no idea if it comes with my season pass. The POW is great but it's way to much of a hassle trying to deal with staff and an extremely confusing website. Majority of the websites purpose is to distribute gross child nudity. I just want info on the mountain. You can try to call but they will never answer. Email is best but won't be consistent. Go to Colorado instead and don't trust websites. The resort bought a lot of there reviews through deals for customers. read more

Let's try to put Mount Bohemia in context a bit: It is by far the best skiing you are going to find in the Midwest, assuming you define "best" as most challenging and with varied terrain. There aren't any groomers here (or any groomed terrain), which means (a) many Midwest skiers will not be particularly happy here, and (b) it isn't the best place to be when the snow conditions are poor With those things in mind, I would say Mount Bohemia is absolutely worth a long drive to get to. It's not going to fulfill your skiing needs for the whole winter if you have experience skiing in the East or West, but it is a very fun filler between trips to places with bigger, steeper mountains. From what I have seen, Mount Bohemia offers terrain that is noticeably steeper than anything else in the Midwest, although would not be considered particularly steep in the East or West. That translates into a lot of gladed runs that are very fun and offer variety. Pitch on the steepest of these runs is probably somewhere in the low 30's, which isn't bad for this part of the country, and is enough angle to keep things fun. I would say that most trails at Bohemia would be considered black diamonds in the East/West. Depending on the mountain, some places might call some of the glades blue or double-blue, and there may be a couple trails at Bohemia that are legitimate double-blacks. The triple-black classification for Mount Bohemia's Extreme Backcountry area is a little silly, although that is still a very fun part of the mountain. Bohemia is also pretty much the only place in the Midwest to find cliffs and chutes, if those are your thing. There are some good, fun cliffs, although I'd be hesitant to try some of the larger ones given the relatively flat landing areas. As for what types of skiers would be comfortable at Mount Bohemia, I don't think it is a particularly difficult mountain, but offers enough challenge to keep pretty much any expert skier entertained. Less advanced skiers will be fine here if they enjoy skiing in the trees, but won't find a lot of non-gladed options. Oh, one more thing: There are tons of snowlerbladers. I'm not sure what the explanation for this is, but I may have seen more snowlerbladers in one weekend at Bohemia than I have in the rest of my life combined. I would say that it was close to an even split between skiers, snowboarders, and snowlerbladers our second day at Bohemia (!). read more

You won't believe this exist in the Midwest. No beginners here and not a place to bring someone that is used to only skiing groomed terrain. If your not sure check out some videos online. There were maybe 30 people there. Only 1 lift and shuttle bus during the week. They open up a second lift on the weekends. The bus covers the backcountry area and runs a pretty short loop so you shouldn't have to wait long. Don't come here alone and be ready for trees and powder. There a cliffs and chutes as well as some open glades of moguls. The trees runs vary in steepness and density of trees with some low partially down ones. The base area has the necessities but not much else. Yurts for the buildings, small bar, and basic food options. A last minute trip with someone that comes up every week. Bare bones ski hill with tree skiing in the Midwest. read more

Mount Bohemia - Rafting/Kayaking Near Me - Lac La Belle, Michigan

Mount Bohemia used to be special. It was quaint, not over used like the resorts out west, the staff was kind to everyone including the owner. Over time it got popular with all its contests it entered, and money turned the owner and his son greedy. Lift lines became unbearable (unless you pay more money not to wait ....making those who had to wait, wait even longer), the hill is overused so unless you're first tracks the pow goes quickly. Now the hill trademarked the hills name, sued the small mom and pop deli and gas/convenience store in town, tried to put them out of business and opened their own overpriced deli stop. Cash is not allowed here due to paranoia of the owner and the place has exploded in customers making this hill over used for the space and snow, overpriced, and you can't even use cash. read more

Best snowboarding ever! If you are nervous about going... dont be. They have runs to suit your needs if you are intermediate level. We spent a lot of time in the backcountry and it was awesome. Fresh Powder runs all day! If you are thinking of heading out west, dont waste your dimes. Go to Bohemia! The Mountain is rustic and its great! We stayed at the Marina Cabin, 2 thumbs up there too. Thanks again for making our trip awesome. The staff is great and the food they serve is phenomenal. whoever you were lady, they better keep you around! read more

Mount Bohemia - Mt Bohemia overlooking Lac La Belle Feb-2016 - Rafting/Kayaking Near Me - Lac La Belle, Michigan

I love skiing and snowboarding. Most of my life has been devoted to both sports. Growing up on Mt Brighton, then moving to the Colorado Rockies and now living next to Boyne and Nubs, it's been my extreme pleasure to sample as much North American skiing as possible in 20 years. Mt Bohemia has terrain very similar to Keystone in Colorado. There is no grooming but the runs were in surprisingly good shape. Since Michigan snow is humid there is never powder like out West but there is still unpacked snow. Bohemia has plenty of fun tree runs with glades that are steep enough to keep your speed. A few small rock bands provide little cliff drops. The chair lifts are antique and the lodging is perfectly suited for the destination. If you make the journey to Mt Bohemia plan to get there and ski the same day. Then spend the night on the premises in their yurts or cabins. We got a cabin and I would recommend it over the yurt. The cabins are nothing special - bunk beds and a shower. There is a central common building with a fireplace. Since there is no staff at night it's just the skiers staying there hanging out and passing time together with limited cell service and no internet. We built a nice jump in front of our cabin and took turns hitting it and learning new tricks with our neighbors. In the morning if you the snow is good and you're feeling it, ride another day at Bohemia or start your journey home. If you're heading back to the lower peninsula, I would recommend stopping at Marquette Mountain to ski on the way back. read more

Yup! What cha hear about the terrain in these posts are spot on. Very fun time. Great vibe. No lift lines. The apré ski in the yurt is a nice way to finish the day. Bartender Rick and his wife Elaine work very hard for the owners and they help make this place a very grassroots sort of skiing option. The Yurt accommodations were slick. No complaints here. Love the low-tech aspect of this resort. read more

This is one of my favorite mountains ever. I was tempted to not post anything, so i would continue to have it to myself, but it's usually so empty, i'm worried they dont have enough business. It's basically one giant glade, with amazing powder. If you like to ride trees, this is the best place east of the mississippi (and, yes, i lived in northern new england and still would rather be at Bohemia). This is the UP though, so dress warm. read more
