Our front porch was in need of some major updating (a lot of rotting wood, railings were wobbly, pillar trim and paint coming off, etc). They were able to squeeze us in their busy schedule which I totally appreciate. Jason was very honest with what work needed to be done as I initially only asked for new railings. I didn't want to wait until the rotting wood got worse so I agreed and trusted his professional opinion. Thank goodness I did because there was a little more damage from water and ants that he found which I didn't want to deal with down the road. He used pvc to wrap the base of the pillars (which looks so much better and well proportioned) and replaced all our risers and kick board with pvc too. I am all for low maintenance so I'm glad I don't have to worry about rotting wood again! He even replaced our electrical outlet to a more low profile one. Jason is a perfectionist...very detail-oriented and meticulous, he kept pointing things out that I would never have noticed and fixed the issue promptly. He and his worker were respectful of the property, cleaned up after themselves, and were on time. I can't forget about Kristin (Jason's wife and company manager) who was very communicative in regards to scheduling, estimates, etc. She was very responsive and got back to me quickly whenever I had a question (a rare trait these days!). Full disclosure: I did not proceed past an estimate with MTS. MTS came out at my request to give…read moreme an estimate regarding what appeared to be an old leak. We found this when removing wallpaper. MTS came out and, to their credit, quickly diagnosed the problem which required new lead around chimney ($775) and 3 new pipe boots on the rear roof pipes ($825). MTS went on to say we needed a new skylight installed for $2800 - the estimate stated that they were "not responsible for interior skylight finish." The total estimate was $4,400. I have had 2 estimates since then and both companies agree with the assessment of the chimney and roof pipes - although I feel it's worth noting that MTS made this estimate from the ground versus getting up on the roof. The other companies indicated that we did not need a new skylight, but if we needed to the same exact Velux would be $1500. I'm writing this to say - do your homework. We could have paid $4,400 to MTS but are paying roughly $700 elsewhere.
