My partner and I first discovered Cody Cutler Carpentry through the CJC custom carpentry website,…read moreand after reading about Cody's services and seeing photos of his work, we immediately had the sense that his craftsmanship would be exceptional. From the moment we booked an in-home consultation and met with Cody, that impression was confirmed. What stood out most was how knowledgeable, thoughtful, and genuinely passionate he is about his craft. We wanted to add wainscoting to our living room and office area, and Cody took the time to walk us through our options, bring samples, and really understand our vision for the spaces. He listened carefully, offered excellent suggestions, and helped us feel confident about the direction of the project. He also set clear expectations about the work involved and the timeline, which we truly appreciated. We provided Cody with a key so he could work while we were away, we came home excited to see the progress and every time, we were impressed. Cody completed the project with an incredible level of precision and care. The wainscoting is beautiful, and his attention to detail shows in every part of the finished space. His suggestions were top-tier, and we could not be happier with the result. Beyond the quality of his work, Cody was professional, timely, tidy, respectful, trustworthy and easy to communicate with throughout the entire process. He has such a kind and calming presence, and we felt completely comfortable and at ease having him in our home. We highly recommend Cody Cutler Carpentry without hesitation. Cody did an outstanding job, and we are already looking forward to having him complete another project in our home.

We needed a complete redo of our old, outdated, ugly basement: complete demolition out to the…read morefoundation and installation of new framing, insulation, walls, stairs, flooring, plumbing, lighting, stairs and more in our nearly 100 year-old-house. Cody (owner of CJC) came highly recommended by a painting contractor we trust so we asked him to come out to have a look, discuss a plan, and provide an estimate. He listened to our needs (focusing on providing a "blank canvas" for new buyers when we sell the house in a few years) and came up with a plan and budget that were spot-on, no "up-selling". Cody is primarily a designer and master carpenter, but he works with a close-knit group of high quality tradespeople, including electricians, plumbers, plasterers, painters, with whom he's worked for years, so you get the complete package when you hire him. He took care of the demolition, installation of new framing and a new floor, then project managed the work while the other folks did their work (there was a LOT of it). After the infrastructure work was done, Cody resumed working in his specialities, making sure that everything that was done previously was done properly. Through the entire process Cody and everyone he brought into the project did the highest quality work and were diligent and courteous at every turn. Having part of your home redone can be a pain in the neck, but I can honestly say that I enjoyed meeting everyone who worked on our basement, most especially Cody. Even our cat got to be good friends with Cody and his crew, going down to observe what was happening and get a few pats. That may sound silly, but I think it's a good indication of just what a decent person Cody is, in addition to being outstanding at his craft. We are contemplating a few more projects on our old house and you can bet that Cody will be the first person we contact.

I hired KAC to do a bathroom remodel on my first floor and a new shower in my upstairs bathroom…read more They did a BEAUTIFUL job and were great to work with. The subcontracters were professional and easy to deal with . The project manager was great. It took a lot longer than I had hoped but all in all I was very happy. However, it turns out that they do not stand by their work. Months after the job was done, the drywall around my first floor shower started to crumble. I sent Kevin photos. Without coming to see it, he "diagnosed" the problem - that water was getting in between the bathtub and tub enclosure and damaging the wall. He said it was a common problem with tub enclosures and he could fix it for $1500. I said ok and he had his project manager Dave come to look at it. It was only then that we realized that was NOT the problem. When the bathroom was done they had left the round metal part that the shower handle is attached to ungrouted. It was loose and would spin around. I asked the plumber about it when he did the bathtub and shower install and he said "its fine". I didn't question it because he ALSO left it the same way on the upstairs shower. I thought that probably the pipe behind it was fully grouted so that water could go behind the round part but would not permeate behind the tub enclosure. So anyway Dave realized quickly that water was going behind the round part, into where the pipes were and behind the tub enclosure. That was what was causing the damage; the job had been not fully completed. The fixture should have been grouted. He assured me that I would not need to pay for repairs to the wall. I asked Kevin to schedule a repair and he insisted on payment, as we had agreed before. But that agreement was before we realized that the entire problem was caused by his subcontractors not finishing the job in the first place.

From my personal experience, I would not recommend hiring this company for any construction or…read moreremodeling work. My shower remodel which should have taken 1-2 days to complete took over one year and required three separate attempts by the owner, Graciano Machado, (aka: Greg) and his workers to complete. To this day, l am unable to use the shower as it will require me to have it demoed and repaired. Throughout the process of having my shower completed, I had several issues to include, my shower walls coming apart on two separate occasions due to improper install, the grout not being properly applied, leaving several holes and cracks throughout, the glass sliding door not closing fully, and much more. But the biggest issue of all, was that, Greg Machado violated basic sanitary building standards by failing to install a cement backer board, which is a required material in the State of Massachusetts to prevent moisture damage and ensure proper waterproofing. He was well aware of this, but did not correct it. Despite giving multiple opportunities and addressing my concerns to Greg and his team, they were not able to complete my shower correctly. I was met by constant delays to have my shower repaired, and i was met with some dishonesty from Greg's behalf. As a result of these issues, I pursued legal action through small claims court and was awarded a judgment in my favor. The matter is still ongoing as I work to collect that judgment which has yet to be fulfilled. I have also noticed that other individuals including a business have also pursued legal action through small claims against Greg, his wife (co-owner) and his business. From my experience, I strongly advise others to exercise caution before hiring this contractor.
