We used Core Remodeling to construct a 12x18 deck on my mother-in-law's house after a Winter collapse of the old deck. We found the company through their booth at the Worcester Home Show, and after a quick 5 minute discussion at a very busy venue, we could tell the professionalism of the company. After an initial phone discussion, Corey (Owner) provided a very detailed proposal and estimate of the work to be done, clarifying any questions I had quickly. The insurance check we received was not sufficient to cover the cost of the deck, so we turned to Cory for help. He reviewed the insurance estimate, he then met with their adjuster at the work site to point out all the issues with the initial insurance estimates, and was able to negotiate a larger insurance payout so the job could be done right and up to the current building code. Due to this effort by Corey, there was no out-of-pocket cash outlay by my mother-in-law, which was really key to this entire project. All phone calls were returned on time, e-mails were answered timely and overall the communication process was great. The work was done as the timeline was laid out, no missed appointments or unscheduled delays. The project manager, Mike, was on the job the entire time and was able to walk me through any questions I had regarding the specific deck or the building code in general. Mike was always polite and informative, keeping us informed of progress; I think he went above and beyond. The office staff was also very professional, nice and polite. My story is the classic remodeling nightmare. Everything that could go wrong did. In 2013 I was looking for a contractor to put a new bathroom in my basement. I had a few companies including CORE come out to provide me with a quote. Although I was impressed with CORE's professionalism, they were a little higher than the other companies. So, like most people I thought how much of a difference can it make and I went for the lower priced company. My decision quickly turned into a nightmare. The company I hired was so bad, I ended up firing them and finishing the job myself. The plumbing and electrical was done very improperly and not to code. Because of the bad plumbing the pipes froze this past winter and my basement flooded. When I tried to contact the company, they were nowhere to be found. I tried dealing with the insurance company and they were offering a very low amount of money for the repairs. Without a second thought, I called CORE and did not plan to call anyone else. Corey, the owner, met with me and created a detailed proposal, verifying all the repairs that were needed by code that the insurance company overlooked. In the end, I received the right amount of money that was needed to properly complete the project. I hired CORE that day. Thanks to CORE my nightmare has now turned into a beautiful basement and new bathroom. I was impressed so much by their entire team's professionalism, responsiveness, aptitude to listen to everything that I wanted and their quality of work that I am having CORE rebuild my front porch before winter and scheduling them to build a new deck in the spring. I needed to get a 1928 bungalow in Dudley ready for sale.  What made the project unusual was that I was in Maryland and Corey in Massachusetts, resulting in most of our communication being via email and cell phone.  The best part - our being in different locations was never an issue.   Corey and his team, including electrician and plumber, took the bathroom down to the studs and relocated the sink and vanity, installed a new ceiling and drywall, and installed all new fixtures, lighting, and accessories. The new bathroom was up to code, looked more spacious, and was now a selling point. Adjacent to the bathroom, CORE created a laundry room completely ready with new plumbing and electrical work. The existing kitchen layout did not function well. The kitchen sink and cabinets were in a small pantry in the rear of the house and the eat-in kitchen with stove and refrigerator down a hallway on the other side. With the pantry area now set up as a laundry room, CORE's team was able to create an efficient kitchen workspace by installing new upper and lower cabinets, countertop, sink, disposal, and dishwasher where none had previously existed. The transformation was amazing and, like the bathroom, now a selling feature. Of course, items came up during the process that were not anticipated. Corey always called me to discuss the issue, made several suggestions on how to deal with it, and got my permission to implement what would work best. The work his team did was excellent, cognizant always of what code required, and thorough. The price was well within the norm for the Worcester area. The work done by Core Remodeling was exceptional! When we purchased the house the kitchen was oddly shaped, dark, and outdated. The guest bathroom had pink and blue tile and our master bedroom was covered in wallpaper and dirty pink carpets. Truly a dream for a first time home buyer. Working with the whole Core team was a breeze, even when we felt like the quirks of our new home could sabotage the project. Having a slanted ceiling in our kitchen at one end meant our cabinets had to be custom cut to fit the space. I was so nervous that a bad cut would mean we'd need to buy new cabinets but the finished product was beyond my expectations. Our master bathroom didn't exist before and with the help of Core Remodeling they were able to take our oversized master bedroom and add an ensuite - the best decision we've ever made! They also brought in someone to paint the blue and pink tiles in our guest bathroom white which completely transformed the space. The whole house is now bright, modern, and feels like a real home. The cost of everything, in the beginning, seems intimidating and so does the timeline but when it's all done you realize the value of updating your home, especially during covid times, is priceless not to mention the value of our home greatly increased. I'm a pretty indecisive person and when I plan to spend a large sum of money, I do a LOT of research. I couldn't be happier to have found CORE Remodeling Services. From the moment Corey came over to look at our space, I knew (after getting quotes from multiple contractors) that this was the crew I wanted finishing my basement. Professional, punctual, responsible, friendly, clean, .... I could go on! The CoConstruct app was an added bonus, especially given the opportunity to see 3D images of what the project would look like and the ability to see all of our allowances tallied up along with a timeline of work finished and work to be done. There's much to be said for a contractor that is transparent, clear, honest, and puts the customer first -- Corey and CORE do just that and then some. The quote was definitely on the higher end, but you pay for peace of mind and the knowledge that your job will be done to the highest of standards with respectful sub-contractors -- I never once felt uneasy knowing that folks were in and out of my house over the course of 6 weeks. We reached out to a few places, but ultimately decided to go with Core Remodeling because they were local and we felt very confident in working with Al. We're so happy that we did! Al was very attentive during the planning phase and the whole Core team responded promptly to any questions we had through their web portal, and phone calls. When we were trying to decide between the flooring for the front porch, Al dropped off samples for us to consider. As the project went on we realized that there were things we had forgotten about, or thought of, and changes to our plan couldn't have been easier. We were concerned that because we got such a late start with scheduling, that the porch wouldn't be started or finished before spring, the team worked through the worst of the winter months to complete the porch (luckily this year was more mild than some, but it was still bitter cold out). I highly recommend this company. We needed to have a handicap bathroom installed in our house and a number of doors widened, which was being paid for by a Government program. Corey Plourde the owner has met with us and the loan people numerous times in order to get this difficult approval process completed. Corey has been so helpful and professional prior and through the whole project. Once the work started in June, David and Mike who have done the work are two of the nicest, polite people you will ever meet. They communicated with me daily to keep me up to date and they were very clean. They even had a portable toilet delivered so that no one would ever have to use the toilet in our house. The work was a complete demolition and re-model of a 2nd floor bathroom, which involved removing an existing bathtub, moving an existing wall, and installing a walk in shower. The new shower was fully tiled, as was the floor. Project included new vanity, lighting, exhaust fan, fixtures, molding, and finish paint. This was a first class project from start to finish. It started with a quote that was clear, up front, and with a timetable for every step of the project. The job started on time and ended on time. Both Corey and Mike (project foreman) kept us informed at every step of the way, and are just so pleasant to deal with. No worries with these guys. They provided a very professional proposal that had all the details of the job. Very impressive. It was what sold us on using this contractor. They always returned phone calls promptly and answered all our questions. They worked with us to design a deck that met all our needs. They worked with the building inspector to make him happy as well as us. Even though it was cold down by the lake and the walkway up to the driveway was killer, they did it all with a smile. They had to stop work due to multiple snow storms, so they protected all the supplies for the winter until the spring when they were back on the job without us having to prompt them at all. We contracted Core to tile our small upstairs bathroom. We experienced an unusual failure of the tile to bond to the underlayment. Once I alerted owner Corey Plourde to the situation, he immediately became pro-active, while assuring us that Core would always stand by the work they do, regardless of the reason for any issues that arise. After one of the crew visited to examine the problem, Corey scheduled a personal visit to assure us that they would redo the entire tile job with new tile at no additional cost to us.
