This is our first bathroom remodel and it's fair to say that we were more than a little overwhelmed by all of the choices available. Thankfully, April is an old pro and understands the options inside and out. We booked an appointment with her for later in the week and within a couple of hours the decisions were made and we left with great confidence in the items we chose. One of the things we really appreciated was that the Ultimate Bath has a wet wall where they can demonstrate a broad range of fixed and hand held shower heads. There is no question that really simplified the process for us. If you're doing a remodel I would strongly encourage you to stop in and see April before trying to wade through the many, many, decisions on your own :)

I would highly recommend Karen and this showroom to anyone undertaking a bath or kitchen remodeling project.

Once we decided to add to our home rather than move, we also figured we'd knock out some walls and…read moreredo our outdated kitchen. The contractor suggested Kitchen Associates (KA), which was perhaps the best vendor on our list. The Sterling location isn't very close, but the service, personnel, and goods more than compensated for the extra miles we had to drive to get there. This two-floor establishment has sample kitchens set up with every type of cabinetry, hardware, counter covering, pantry, and hardware imaginable, so you could picture what your own space could possibly look like. We brought in pictures of our then-kitchen and asked for suggestions on how to modify it. Jay, the owner, took our paperwork and rough measurements, and in 30 minutes came up with a beautiful plan that would accommodate everything we wanted...at no charge. We chose the cabinets and layout, and were then directed to a granite place where we chose the slabs. Prices for the cabinets and installation, etc., were very reasonable, and the installer was fabulous, clean, and quick. The result is a great new kitchen with a large pantry closet and a center island. Edit: We also purchased our bathroom cabinet/sink from KA, and they put in a rush to have it manufactured and delivered (took about 2 weeks from the time we ordered) when I told them that our builder was anxious to finish. The original vendor for bathroom stuff screwed up and never ordered the cabinet (the salesperson I had spoken to also had an attitude). KA came through. Five stars for excellent customer service and product.

Update 11/8/20: see comments on my personal Facebook page…read more(Maureen Holmes) for comments on Robin Boyce after posting my review there. Unfortunately I am not the only one who has endured a bad experience with her. MH I warn anyone who will listen away from this unethical business and owner Robin Boyce. I had the misfortune to be her client and endure her careless, unprofessional, dishonest and ultimately abusive and vulgar treatment. My "custom kitchen" arrived without the custom elements and with a grossly oversized refrigerator. The kitchen designer blames someone else for a major kitchen error and refuses to fix it! (See photos) I had the exact same experience with the shutters and the custom stair-runner I ordered from her. They were both delivered with errors and missing parts, and Design West has done NOTHING to correct its errors. This is the worst experience I've ever had with another human being, period. I never received an apology on any mistake I swear to God. That's when I realized too late I had hired the wrong person. Robin Boyce/Design Center West scammed me by promising professional results and delivering dirt. Robin Boyce then turned verbally abusive when confronted with her easily disproved lies. (I have all documentation to prove my charges.) This last point deserves special mention. When I expressed my dismay at the errors, delays and lack of accountability, her demeanor shifted immediately from friendly to combative and borderline violent. It was a shock to learn the owner wasn't just a sleaze but mentally unhinged too. When I confronted her in her store after she ignored my contractor's emails and texts, she began screaming profanities at me while hurling insults about my appearance and character, which I presumed was an intimidation tactic. That felt sickening, but it worsened when she came at me with her arm pulled back as if to throw a punch, but thankfully she stopped herself before landing her fist in my face. I feel certain the only thing that stopped her was a possible assault charge. I would feel sorry for Ms Boyce if she wasn't a thief, and if her emotional instability didn't manifest in such an ugly manner. But no mental state excuses her dishonesty, mentally healthy or not. Not a word of this review is hyperbole. I lost thousands of dollars and was blindsided by a venomous verbal assault because I had the temerity to call out Robin Boyce on her mendacity and fraud. I could provide a colorful litany of her actions, but suffice it to say that it involved a lot of obscene finger, hip and hand gestures. Incidentally, her staff just sat there like dummies the entire time and let it all happen. Apparently they don't have an issue working for such a repulsive woman. Prior to my dealings with her, Robin was verbally abusive to my contractor on multiple occasions as well when he asked her about delayed deliverables. Following is an example of one the few correspondences between him and Robin that isn't littered with her F-bombs: "Shut up. Stop talking. Don't tell me what to do. Its not Maureen... its you. I'm surprised guys take your mouth, and the way you talk down to others; I suspect you've been punched a few times." This is the first---and I hope last--bad review I ever had to write. Let this brutally honest review serve as a public service announcement to warn others away from this troublemaker. Do not hire Design Center West. You will pay a premium for sloppy, mediocre results, and the owner will curse you when you express your dissatisfaction. This has been a yearlong nightmare that only ended after I hired someone else to fix all of her mistakes. Caveat emptor!

Additionally, she was very focused on saving me money and making sure I was not buying things I did not need. It has been a true pleasure working with Robin and her team again. Their attention to detail and quality of workmanship were outstanding, and they were great at dealing with changes that were needed during the project. Most importantly, the finished kitchen came out beautifully and exceeded our expectations. We are extremely happy with both the quality of the work and the overall experience. First, our designer lost the design plans and tried to cover it up. This caused us to have to try to re-remember items that we had discussed prior. For example, we asked for no spice rack, then we get a spice rack, so we then had to improvise once the project was underway. Completely incompetant...no apologies, and our designer clearly didn't listen the first time, take notes, and honestly just didn't care at all about us. We should have known then, next time we will just walk away..... Next, our contracter was a complete joke. Never inspected the site for follow up / punch list items. Eletrical and Floor contracters were sub par, we still have a light switch that doesn't work properly. They destroyed our dining room floors relocating our refridgerator, with no full repair, just a touch up that looks like crap. They also damaged our mudroom floor and apparently have no idea how to fix what they broke, so I now have a gap in my floor that has never been addressed. Lastly, they never finished the final revisions to the trim. I told this clown several times what we needed to tidy up on, and several times never receieved follow up. In other cases, he did not properly relay instructrions to the sub contractors, so twice we had cabinet / trim people show up without the necessary materials to tidy up. The cabinent / trim guys were the only bright spot in an otherwise horrible experience. I truly felt bad for Bud and Shawn as their time was wasted by our General Contractor. As it stands now, almost 6 months since we were suppossed to be "complete" and zero follow up. I am embarrased to have people show up with incomplete instructions, and our general contractor has not visited the kitchen to address anyting since NOVEMBER of last year. Do not go with this place, over budget, zero follow up, horrible design team, bad sub contractors. Complete waste of time, and we never got the satisfaction of a final, complete, project....

Let me first start off by saying that between this store and the other location in Salem NH, we…read morehave spend hundreds of dollars for kitchen items and were a pretty consistent customer. That being said, it only takes one time for me to be treated poorly and never go back to the place again. This christmas my wife spend a modest 7 dollars on a garlic keeper, amongst other things, and it was broken by a staff member while they were wrapping it for the bag after we purchased it. My wife made a comment to me that she hoped it wasn't broken by the way it was wrapped and handled as she too noticed it was handled roughly after it was purchased by the employee of the store. I assured her that it was probably fine and it sat on a shelf waiting to be wrapped for christmas. Fast forward to Dec. 24 and we unwrapped it to wrap it for christmas and noticed a crack running through the ceramic casing of the unit. We just decided to return it when we returned to the store a few days later when we were also going to buy a coffee maker and set of knives. Nevertheless, the employee called both my wife and I liars as there "was no way the unit left the store like that." She kept repeating the same thing and treating my wife like an ass so my wife just turned around and walked out of the store due to the way it was being implied that she was a liar and being treated so poorly. Since we were planning on purchasing other items and I was paying very little attention to the initial discussion I had to catch my wife as she was running out of the store and she told me what was happening. I then encountered the clerk over the situation and was treated the same way. I then asked for her name since she had no name tag and her managers name and phone number. She argued with me and told me that she didn't have to give me any of that information and simply gave me the phone number to store. I asked several times for the information and was told I was getting that information and if I asked again she was calling security. At that point I responded with, "why would you call security, I wasn't threatening in any way," she responded with, "yes you are," and began to walk away from me as if I wasn't worth talking to. It was at this point that I said some things that I regretted and walked out of the store. We have spent hundreds of dollars on both stores in Northborough and at Rockingham since we used to live in Andover. I have never been called a liar and seen my wife called a liar in a store before and have never been in a situation in a retail environment where I lost my temper. I will never return to either to these establishments again and will be spreading the word about how people are treated at the Northborough location for The Kitchen Place. Places don't know what customer service is any more...it was appalling how this woman acted.
