I didn't care because he'd been great previously and I thought he'd be worth waiting for. When he came to take measurements and all of that, he gave a long speech about how he had to be here when his sheet rock crew were scheduled to come and explained why, but he never showed up on that day. When he did come, he complained how he was losing money on the job, but he'd come up with the quote, which we'd borrowed money to honor. I have pictures of the horrific job he did. How do you send in a sheet rock guy who does a great job ahead of you, and ruin fresh sheetrock? He managed to do just that. There are lumps, bumps, sections that look like popcorn, and worse. I respectfully contacted him to come fix the work. That was 6 months ago. Never heard back. Don't pay him until you've inspected the work, no matter what kind of song and dance you get because you'll never see him. $4100 down the drain. We've had to fix everything little by little and some areas can't be fixed unless we were to tear down the sheetrock and start all over again. NOT a happy customer.

The work was, to quote head contractor Michael Brown, "unacceptable." There are spots of plaster on…read moreour brand new stairs that will require sanding and a refinish to remove. The trim around the doors was reinstalled about 1 cm off from where it used to be, and at a noticeable angle. A piece of drywall that was replaced now scrapes the top of a door every time it's opened or closed. Someone started sanding plaster just feet away from the kitchen without warning or putting up a single plastic sheet. It took days to clean every surface. Was the work done? Technically, yes, but only after weeks of reminders to get the last couple of items finished, endless back and forth with Mike and various subcontractors, and with plenty of issues. Sharp corner beads with not enough plaster on them, misaligned trim and baseboard, half-sanded plaster (the rest is "included with painting"). And of course the trash left behind - masks, soda cups, cigarette butts in the yard, plaster dust everywhere, plaster water with chunks dumped in the garden beds. Despite multiple complaints, we had to clean all of this up ourselves.
