Was looking for local KBBQ and stumbled upon Pine Tree. Very local and easily accessible for me so that's a huge plus. All of the meats were fresh and delicious and came out on time. Their salt/vinegar combo with the jalapeño was absolutely delicious I kept asking for more. They have legit Korean soup spoons (IYKYK)!!! Another huge plus in my book. One thing, however, that prevents this place from being 5 star for me, is that they don't have rice paper! I absolutely love rice paper with my KBBQ, so that's was a huge let down for me. It was okay overall, but I didn't feel like I was really able to cook my own food. I felt watched the whole time, like I wasn't cooking my meat "right," which took away from the experience. I know how I like my food, so I wasn't a fan of being hovered over or having my food taken off the grill before I felt it was done. I also didn't like that the uncooked meats were being placed with the cooked meat. I prefer to keep those separate, so that was a big downside for me. The squid being mixed with the bulgogi wasn't something I enjoyed either. On top of that, we spent around $90 and barely got much meat, which didn't feel worth the price. We were also handed the check before our time limit was even up, which made us feel rushed. The bulgogi itself was good, and the restaurant was clean, but the overall atmosphere made it hard to fully enjoy the meal. For the price, I feel like you can find better options with higher-quality sides as well. read more

Came out from San Francisco on a quick work trip with friends and wanted to try some Korean BBQ. Honestly super disappointing experience. Service was hella slow, the grill stayed burnt and ashy in front of us forever, and the meat was brought out with basically no care. Most of the staff couldn't really communicate in English except one server, and the place wasn't even busy. On top of that, prices were way too high for what you get and the menu/options felt really limited compared to other KBBQ spots. Definitely expected way better. We came for a friend's birthday party. Looks like a new restaurant in a less visited plaza off 405. However when I stepped in, I waited for 15 mins to be seated as they were very short staffed. Nevertheless, food was good. We ordered AYCE $39.99 Menu B and were happy about the portion and quality of the meat. The room was a bit more smokier than I would like. A really great option for AYCE Korean bbq on a budget with a 2-6 person group. Finally decided to try this place with a couple buddies and was not disappointed. I like this place because it's quiet and family friendly. There is no edm music, no dark lighting, and there are maybe 8 tables total. I finally got around to visiting Pine Tree KBBQ. I am sorry I forgot my phone at home so I do not have any photos. The restaurant is small but cozy and the staff is extremely helpful and friendly. They have several options. Order off the regular menu or a few options from the "All you can eat" menu. If you order from the "All you can eat" menu, everyone at your table must order the same. Since I went me my cousins family her and her 2 young adult children and another adult (6 of us in total) we went for the all you can eat option 5 meats for $28.95 (they also have larger more expensive options). You have 90 minutes to cook and finish your food. We started with Angus beef, marinated bbq chicken, and spicy pork. The meats came with some small sides, cold broccoli, kimchee, diakon, and what we thought was a bit of cold mashed potatoes, and a small portion of scallion pancakes. It was an effort to get the meat cooked! It took two people to get it done and by the time it was done, they had switched out the grill 3 times. It had been an hour and by that time we were pretty much full. I am not sure how anyone can get through the larger all you can eat options within the short time frame. We ended up ordering one last meat, the Berkshire pork belly slices even though we still hadn't tried the spicy bbq chicken. It was just too much trouble to be honest and we were out of time. The beef was very bland but they provided a couple of dipping sauces. The chicken was seasoned nicely. The spicy pork was my favorite. The Berkshire Pork belly was good but of course you can't go wrong with something that tastes like bacon. However, it still needed a dip in soy sauce. This place is good for a fun experience if you have never been to Korean BBQ. I have been before but the family wanted to try it. I prefer NOT to cook my own food when I go out, lol. Give it shot. I this the angus beef brisket on the AYCe menu was really delicious followed by the marinated bbq chicken. The Kimchee and marinated daikon ban Chan tasted great, along with the steamed egg soup. If this is a non negotiable for you, be sure to bring your own rice paper or visit a different restaurant. We were disappointed about this however the food, service, quality and smaller space were all excellent. We paid $40 per person for the all you can eat premium meats. I live by the beach and I'm Glad I found this spot. It's your standard kbbq restaurant, reminds me of road to Seoul, expect you don't have to deal with the traffic driving to ktown. They have a solid selection of items. Some places in ktown have more or luxurious items, but for the price and for being close you can't beat it. If you live around the area or live in Santa Monica or Venice I encourage you to try it out. Staff is friendly. Overall good experience. read more

I'm sorry but the value is just not there and ultimately not worth your time. For either menu A or B, it's cheap frozen meat that looks straight from the Korean market that's very bland. They barely give you sauce and small selection of banchan that tastes off. You also get a choice of soybean paste stew or steamed egg and let me tell you both were pathetic looking. It's overpriced for what they are serving you. Service is ok but not exactly welcoming. Would recommend! It was around $25 a person for the cheapest option for AYCE. I thought it was a good value and overall really enjoyed my experience here! I'd definitely recommend it to people in West LA who are avoiding making the journey to KTown. The bulgogi wuakity is higher. The short rib is not as good as before. The regular beef is as good. They also have higher quality meats but are expensive, just as any other Korean bbq place. They sell alcohol. I always order Terra beer. One of the prior employees is still there serving, but there are new people learning and might take some time to catch up. Price is a bit higher for all-you-can-eat, but not that much. It is still affordable. There are better options downtown but this is closer to me. read more

Something about the quality of both the tofu and the seasoning itself seems lower than even the average you get in k-town, and while I don't expect k-town quality in west LA, I was hoping to at least maintain the prior Galbi King quality. read more

It was a nice 20min walk for us so def worth the venture. We came around noon on Sunday and were the only customers for most of our meal. We ordered option 1 for lunch, which has a choice of 5 meats. We had the brisket, chicken, and spicy pork. The meats were okay, brisket was a bit fatty for our taste, chicken is not white meat, which we prefer. The sides were a bit lacking comparing to other KBBQ's we've been to; no glass noodles included. We did like the salad and dressing. Steamed eggs was just okay, not very flavorful, same with the soups. We had good service, water was refilled often, and we were brought more meats as needed. Wow, so nice to enjoy the very clean and beautiful refurbishment of the interior of this restaurant with the new ownership. And the male and female managers are super charming and nice. All great improvements over the old place, along with much better ventilation. We didn't even "smell" when we got home! Only critique would be that the cuts of meat are not quite as tasty as under the old ownership, although the bulgogi and chicken are very good. Can't wait for them to get their liquor license so we don't have to bring our own, although they are very welcoming of that. All round, nice family run place. read more

I have been to pine tree multiple times and everytime I have a great experience. They have a pretty big restaurant but they do have a small staff. Despite that though they try their best to check up on you, and always wearing a smile while doing so. The meat selection was small no bulgogi! Why take over or buy a place just to take away everything people liked? It was empty and sad on a Friday evening and it never used to be like this. Bathroom, clean. Almost unused. A faint streak of water on the floor with pale bubbles bursting on the edges suggests a recent mopping. Boxes and vacuum on full display, but so inconspicuous it's almost suspicious. The dining experience, however, was absolutely invigorating.
