The Wagners are very honest about timetables and costs. They are good about telling you what various options you have for parts, types of repairs, etc so you understand what the opportunity costs are with respect to time, money, convenience, and quality. They are also very responsive about looping customers in on communication with the insurance companies. I appreciated that the Wagners were willing to explain auto body 101 concepts to me -- they are humble and there is no talking down or condescension when repairs/car issues are being explained. On sort of a side note, by talking to Rob I learned a lot about car bodies and just generally got some bigger picture insight into car repairs, the insurance industry, and supply chain issues. The Wagners just come across as being very decent and thoughtful guys. And not least of all, the quality of the repair is fantastic. The car looks like new and feels new. Even though I live in the eastern part of the city of Pittsburgh and the Wagners are out in a northern suburb, I would make them my first choice for future big repairs. I recommend the Wagners in the strongest, most certain terms.

I had to have a smart windshield replaced in my Subaru Crosstrek and not only did they work around my ridiculous schedule multiple times, but gave me several repair options and explained everything they were doing. They had my windshield replaced sooner than they had promised, and even completely cleaned my horribly dirty car from top to bottom, inside and out, at no additional cost. Also, I had to have a rental car for 2 days during the process, and they drove me to Enterprise and also allowed me to leave my rental car at their shop when I came to pick up my Subaru, and they returned the car to enterprise. I cannot say enough about how amazing this place is. I have had Yelp since 2016 and had never taken the time to leave a review until I had this experience at Rob Wagner Auto body. They left my car unlocked and unattended overnight in a bad area while assuring me that it had been delivered to the garage destination! And then repeatedly spoke with aggressive attitude as if irritated by my concern of their ignorance of the location of my vehicle. My roadside assistance contacted Dan's Towing/Cranberry Auto Center at 5pm to tow my car to a garage that was less than 2 miles away from the parking lot where it broke down. Initially they sent their truck in the complete wrong direction, to the wrong side of the city, which led to the driver getting stuck in traffic. The woman I spoke with on the phone advised me to leave my car with the keys inside because it was going to take awhile for the driver to get there (and I needed to charge my phone so that I could keep up with the calls). By 8pm I called to check on the status and was told that my vehicle was being loaded onto the flatbed as we spoke and that I would receive a call when it was delivered to the garage (which was closing at 9pm). An hour went by and I repeatedly called Dan's Towing with no answer. The garage that I wanted it to be delivered to still had not received it and they were closing. Between the hours of 9 and 11pm I called the towing service to find out where my car was. Each time I was told that the car was "in route" and they would contact me when the driver had dropped it off. The garage that they had advised me to take it to was less only about ten minutes away so this was concerning to me but the employees on the phone repeatedly gave me attitude for questioning why this was taking so long. I was put on hold and even heard them discuss how annoying it was that I was concerned. By 11:30 I had called my roadside service to complain about the towing company so that they would contact them directly. They were told that my car had been delivered to the destination and that they had forgot to call me back to let me know. The next morning I called the garage as they opened and was told that my car had NOT been delivered. I spent hours calling associated garages in the area to see if it had been mistakenly taken somewhere else, but had no luck. Meanwhile the towing service was extremely rude and not at all helpful in explaining what could have happened to my vehicle. After they repeatedly spoke aggressively on the phone, I was forced to threaten to call the police and the employee's response was to laugh and tell me that he hoped I would so that the cops could help him locate my vehicle. After hours of frustration, I found out that my car had never even been picked up and was left unlocked in a bad area for around 15 hours.

So I filed a claim with my insurance and selected Precision Auto Works for repairs. Precision gave me a same-day estimate, worked with my insurance, and scheduled a repair at my convenience. Precision's estimate was ~$200 more than my (virtual) insurance estimate but I only paid my deductible and Precision sorted the difference out with my insurer. They had our car for over 6 weeks. In and of itself, not a problem, supply chains being what they are nowadays. Over that time, however, there was not a single proactive communication from the shop about the status of repairs. Not one. Phone calls were not returned, except for one time. Emails were not answered. Astoundingly, 4 days after we got the car back, I received an automated text from the shop indicating that I would be getting text updates about the status of repairs. A little late! I never received a text from them. Everything we learned about the status of repairs to our vehicle including unforeseen parts ordering resulting in unanticipated delays to completing repairs, was discovered by contacting them directly ourselves, typically by showing up there. Three times the service rep told us he expected our car to be done within the next day or two. Every time he told us that, a week was tacked onto the time at the shop. The receptionist typically behaved as if our presence was a bother to her. On my wife's initial phone call to the shop, she was flat out rude. Twice when I got her on the phone, her demeanor was so pleasant and professional, I actually doubted I was talking to the person who worked there. The only time she was professional and courteous to us in person was when she was handing our car back over to us. All it would have taken to retain us as satisfied customers was a few proactive communications over the 6+ weeks they had the car. Instead, the service rep got very defensive when, 6 week into the ordeal, we took him to his office for a private conversation to express our frustration with him over the lack of communication. He whined about having no one to help him do his job and angrily told us, "Get the f**k out." Not so professional. The repair work seems to have been done well as best we can tell at this point, just 4 days after getting the car back. We have used body shops before for accident repairs. This was by far the worst customer experience of them all. We will never again let Body By Cochran work on one of our vehicles.
