Absolutely loved the conch fritters. Probably the best around. Lots of conch and the hush puppy type breading was amazing and full of flavor. As for my Blackened Grouper that was just mediocre at best. The blackened seasoning was salt and had a burnt taste, no blackening seasoning at all. Killed it with tarter sauce, the close slaw and green beans were really delicious, crunchy and flavorful. I would eat there again for sure!! read more

I've been here quite a few times and 9/10 I leave full and happy. It's a good place for seafood when you're in the mood and don't want to spend all that extra money. Their prices are pretty moderate and you get a lot for what you order. The best thing is from 3-6 PM it's food happy hour. That means chicken wings, clams, oysters and shrimp are 50 cents a piece during that time. That is a good deal if I say so! I always have to get raw oysters by the dozen during happy hour. And they have 2for1 drinks all day every day! I've tried many items on the menu. The ribs are a great choice if you're craving it. They are seasoned nicely, saucy, and the meat usually falls off the bone. The fried grouper nuggets po' boy is huge. The whole plate is filled with your sandwich and two sides. Definitely a bang for your buck! The calamari is decent, but I think the sauce choice for dipping could be improved; I'm not a fan of marinara alone. The salmon fish dip is pretty good. It doesn't have an overbearing fishy taste and is great in saltines with a hint if lemon and Tabasco. The boatload of mussels is good because you can't go wrong with mussels, but the butter parmesan sauce is a bit too rich. I think if they cut the amount of sauce down, it would be better. All in all, it's a good place to check out if you're at Wiregrass Mall walking around and get hungry and have a craving for some good food. The service is ALWAYS great. They are constantly checking in on you and making sure you enjoy your order and if you need anything else, plus a manager will check in on you as well at some point during your visit. Oh. THEIR STALE CRABS MADE US SICK! The freshness is hit or miss here. My friend and I were regulars at the N. Dale Mabry location until it closed but transferred our loyalty to this location. We visited weekly, sometimes even twice in 1 week, until we noticed inconsistent quality of blue crabs. We learned to call ahead to check inventory OR not order when the display was low on quantity. When they're low, it seems that they choose to serve the oldest & dirtiest selections remaining. Tonight, I sent my blue crabs back because they were nasty. Had algae all over the legs and the meat was bad. The staff gave a nonsensical excuse for the green, MOLD on the stale blue crabs, with two managers telling me "oh, it depends on where we harvest them from, sometimes they just have green stuff on them". Mold and algae maybe? I tried several bites before exchanging them for snow crabs, like my friend had ordered. We. Both. Got. Sick!!!! So, instead of, the fresh and perfectly cleaned, seasoned and cooked blue crabs and snow crabs that we've come to love, we both may be experiencing FOOD POISONING!! read more

I decided to order Grubhub for the day and they are one of the only delivery apps that has Pinchers. The mussels were "deliciousness" I couldn't stop saying that while eating. It's one of my favorite things to have at a seafood place. The pincher claws were very good also and I love the sauces for both dishes. However, the crab cake for the pasta tasted overly breaded, I wish it was a little bit lighter and crispier. Overall, I enjoyed my meal and will order again or visit. read more

Being from Maryland, it's difficult to find Maryland Style blue crabs anywhere outside of Md. However, we were so lucky to find this place and their MD steamed crabs. They freaking nailed it! We've ordered the steamed crabs multiple times since July and will continue to do so. I felt like I was at home while eating them! We also ordered crab cakes. While my husband loved them, I did not. I was sad because I was looking forward to a crab cake! Service is always great though! We order the crabs to go and they hold them for us to make the hour trip there to pick them up! read more

This is the first place we ate in Tampa and it was really good. I had the crab clusters and they were amazing. The atmosphere was awesome. Our waitress gave us great ideas about what to do in Tampa. It's very easy to please me, I've never written a bad review before but I just wanted to warn others about how disappointing this place is. We thought it seemed like a fun place to go have some casual seafood, i ordered the crab cakes and my husband ordered the grouper I think it was. We got the smallest portions and they were still almost $20 a plate and oh my goodness the portion sizes of the entree was so disappointing. The fish and the crab cakes were so thin and tiny. I would call this place - semi-gross. We ordered the soft shell crab meal, which did not look appetizing when it came out. The crab was horrible and the rubbery fries seemed to be from the previous day, reheated (and probably the crab, also). I asked if they could do a special milk shake with key lime pie instead of ice cream and was told that they were 'not allowed'. We sat outside in an area that looked like it hadn't been cleaned... ever. The staff seemed melancholy and wouldn't even crack a smile. I would not eat here again, as it was a very poor experience. Came here with family and a couple of us got sandwiches while I got the soft shell crab. While the service was great, this was by far the worst meal I've ever had in Tampa. We started with the crab cheese dip, which was basically just queso; I couldn't taste any crab in it at all. The buns for the sandwiches we're soppy, the "fresh cut" fries were absolutely terrible and bland (the worst any of us have ever had) and we had to ask for the steak cut fries instead (which we're much better), and the soft shell crab (sauteed) was some little limp crab swimming in a pool of butter and all I could taste was straight butter. The fish in the sandwiches was also quite bland and soggy. The corn on the cob was the best part of my meal which was obviously extremely disappointing. We decided to try Pinchers after doing a Google search online for seafood. We're new to the area & have been trying different places & I must say that Pinchers is by far THEE BEST place for crab legs!! The mustard sauce is soooooo good on the crabs, too. I was impressed by our server, Michelle. She was absolutely amazing from beginning to end. She was very attentive & answered every question we had. She even made suggestions for us, which made it much easier for us to order. I'm glad we tried this place & we'll definitely be back. This is our new "go to" seafood spot. I went to Pinchers for the first time with some friends that frequent the place. At first I wasn't too impressed by the outside, which is fairly unassuming and bland. But inside it another story. The inside is very open and bright and the walls are covered in novelty items. The wall decoration add intrigue, the waiters write their name on your table, and there is even an are where you can buy fresh fish to take home (thankfully the smell doesn't carry over to the dining area). Over all, a very welcoming atmosphere. The food is also something to talk about! I ordered the calamari platter and an appetizer of mussels. The portion sizes are huge, which makes up for the fact that things are a bit pricy. Your food comes out fairly quickly. One of my friends had something missing from his order and it was quickly fixed. I'd definitely come back, it's on the edge of a large mall so there's plenty to do before and after eating. read more

Excellent sea food, even for take-out. Normally we don't do take-out from seafood places, just because the food can get soft or rubbery if it's not packaged correctly. I also tend to give a vendor a bit of a break anyway when it comes to take-out, just because the food cools, gets humid, or turns into a jumbled mess, no fault of the vendor. I was very impressed with a Pinchers. First, order was ready quickly despite the high-volume hour. Next, the bartender went through every item in the bags prior to letting me pay to ensure everything was there. This is huge. Typically take-outs staple or tie everything up so you can't easily check an order, and I've gotten home to find missing or incorrect items. Once I found I received someone else's order! Anyway, Pinchers was super-conscious to ensure all was well. Everything we ordered tasted excellent, and did bot require re-heating: Hushpuppies (excellent), three types of shrimp, salad with chicken toppings, grouper nuggets....all really, really good. I'll be going back when I can, but don't get to Wesley Chapel that often from St. Pete. read more

I decided to give Pinchers another shot since the manager received my previous feedback so well, and excellent customer service goes a long way. This time, I tried the hush puppies, crab rangoon, and fish & chips. I never had hush puppies before, so I don't have anything to compare it too--they were okay; I liked the salty sauce it came with. The crab rangoon, on the other hand, was pretty good--I would definitely order those again. I got the half order of the fish & chips, and the portion was perfect for me. It tasted good, but my stomach felt a little heavy afterward (perhaps it was too much oil, but that is my fault for ordering fried fish and putting tartar sauce all over it). My friends seemed to enjoy their meals, but both of them left their mashed potatoes virtually untouched. They described it as bland. This is the second time there has been an issue with the mashed potatoes--perhaps corporate needs to change their recipe? By the way, if you have a dog, they will allow him/her to sit with you in their patio area as you eat; they will even give them a small dish of water. Very cool! read more

Located inside the Shoppes of Wiregrass this restaurant really makes you put in the effort to eat (if you order the crab legs). I like that they ask you how you want your crabs steamed, some places only steam plain and serve with butter. After walking and shopping we came across Pinchers and thought the seating décor was interesting and laid back. Since it was a beautiful day we sat outside and enjoyed the weather. Came for lunch after not coming here for a long time mostly because of the price of everything. My wife got the fish and chips and said that it was tasty while I got the soft shell crab sandwich. I grew up on the eating soft shell crabs and wanted to check there's out. They said that everything was fresh but I think that the soft shells were frozen and thawed as per needed. There was a bit too much breading on it for me but once I bit into it the flavor really popped out, meaning good. I still think that the cost is way to high almost $40 for 2 for lunch as well as they charge you for everything. Getting seafood around Wesley Chapel is tough. Stick with the 2 for 1 beers or wine. Ordered 1/2 Oysters on the half shell which I enjoyed but were on the small side. My entree was the Grouper Platter grilled with Green Beans & Garlic Mash Potatoes. My grouper was grilled very well but could have used more seasoning of some sort. I tried my friends fried & Blackened grouper which also needed more seasoning. Overall, mediocre experience coming from NY/NJ dining. In closing what's up with that freaking bell? I will start by saying the service was friendly and the food came out quick and hot. unfortunately, the food was not the best. the good things: the blackened grouper was fresh and fork tender. the green beans were cooked perfectly and locally sourced. the crab Rangoons were a meal all by themselves the bad: both the broiled grouper and the blackened grouper were very salty. I mixed every bite with the bland rice pilaf to temper the saltiness. the garlic mashed potatoes were too salty to eat. I couldn't figure it out so I started asking around and I guess when they opened they had a rough start and that's no reason to try and destroy a business that people have put their lives into. It was amazing. I went again today with my dad. I got crab legs and mussels and clams and peel and eat shrimp and pops got fish and chips and we shared it all and doused it all back with a few ciders. Everything was great! All the food was hot and cooked properly and delicious. The bathrooms are super clean and have a citrus hand scrub that's wonderful I like it here a lot! It's a fun place in a fun area. They have happy hour all the time and great deals on drinks. I will be back, soon. Been there twice this week! Our waitress tonight was Jana. Super funny and sweet girl. She actually listened to my father talk crazy talk and was really nice so of coarse I way over tipped. The service was great from her and the hostesses. First time at this restaurant...we saw the sign outside with the specials and decided to give it a try. We had pretty much all of the special items which are .70 for wings, oysters, shrimp and clams. We got all but the clams and were happy. My husband and I enjoyed the 2 for 1 margaritas as well. Kids eat free, and my 11-year-old enjoyed her free chicken tenders and fries. It's generally ok. I ordered the fish n chips since it was marked as a house favorite. The fries were my favorite part. Fish was ok but I'm not a fan of the tartar sauce. It tasted too much like mayo to me. Cole slaw didn't have much taste at all. I also ordered the dreamsicle drink. Pretty good if you like sweet drinks. I wasn't able to finish it. Long story short, ruined my mom's 77th birthday. The service was not great to start with. Several rounds of our guests arriving and sitting forever without drinks. Then she took our order and we had made it clear it was my moms birthday. My mom did ask for no pepper in her fish serving. 4 meals came and nothing was said about the others. About 5-10 mins later my husbands moms food came. Still nothing for my mom, whose birthday it was. The server came over and said that it looked like there was pepper on it when it came up in the window so she asked them to make another as it was supposed to be. Ok. 20-25 minutes later everyone else was done and her dinner still hadn't come. There were multiple back and forth conversation with management who said that they would "heavily discount the check", which I didn't care about anyway, but then delivered the check with no discount. Not even on the dinner for my moms birthday that came out almost an hour after we ordered. I mean it wasn't the point but don't say it and then not do it. That's just more aggravating. We got a bunch of coupons for free drinks and appetizers that we didn't want. Went back and they took off only the meal for my mom. Super frustrating experience. I love Pinchers. I've never been disappointed and everything I've had is good. I feel like I have 3 main groups of people I go there with, each with a different reason for going: 1) My-throw-back-some-beers-and-oysters friends. We go at happy hour. We order 3 or 4 appetizers (crab dip! Spicy shrimp! Gumbo!). And then we order ridiculous amounts of oysters. They're fresh. They're plump. I could eat them all day. And beers are 2 for 1 during happy hour. Need I say more? 2) I take my daughter. Kids eat feee with an adult meal. She also ALWAYS starts with one of the creamiest New England style clam chowders I've ever had. I like the shrimp tacos or grilled grouper on these days. 3) My drinking buddies. French fries are all soggy and not crispy. Garlic bread felt very hard and too dry. Fried grouper did not feel fresh either. Shrimp po-boy sandwich was okay but wasn't special. I came into Pinchers on a recent vacation to the area and I was not disappointed. First of all, I loved the open air concept of the restaurant. This Yankee really enjoyed the opportunity to enjoy the warm weather while eating some yummy seafood. First of all, the drink specials are very good. They have buy one get one free on their wines and beers so that was pretty cool. They also have a wide variety of food to choose from and I had a tough time making a decision. I ended up going with the grilled mahi mahi and it was delicious. I rarely get the chance to have fresh fish so I was thrilled! Our server was very nice and helpful. She was also very attentive to the small child we had with us which made the evening go smoothly. I recommend this to anyone who is dining in the Wesley Chapel mall area. read more
