The water is blue and there was a turtle or two. This was my first time visiting El Campo. I stopped by Pincher's for lunch and it was busy the vibe was very laid back with a coastal twang. My waitress and host were both so friendly and kind. I ordered the choose two and got the frog legs and shrimp. The shrimp seemed as if they were brought frozen. I was so disappointed about the shrimp. The frog legs were fried well but lacked flavor. When cooking frog legs, make sure you season the meat before adding flower or whatever you use to batter them. The onion rings were very good. Crispy, well seasoned and good portion size. The chicken fried steak was served extremely hot and smothered in white gravy. The serving was hefty, actually enough for 2 to enjoy. The boiled shrimp was "ok". Nothing over the top or exceptional. The melted butter tastes like what you get on your popcorn at a movie theater. Don't be in a rush because it takes a good while to get your food. The service is friendly. The ducks, fish & turtles are a nice distraction. 50¢ in the machine to get some pellets to feed them all. Second time coming here and another win. Actually prefer a cornmeal coating on my shrimp rather than flour but this was so good, I may have to change my mind. Prompt, friendly service and I like how they actually give you a decent size serving of cole slaw. I hate when I get a tiny plastic containers with hardly anything in it. Oh my gosh, Pinchers was the best seafood I have ever had in my life. The shrimp were HUGE and the fried cod was so thick and fresh. We got the combo platter with coconut shrimp and buffalo shrimp it came with tartar sauce, cocktail sauce, sweet chili sauce and a ranch our sides were French fries and fried okra. Everything was cooked to perfection, everyone at the table loved their meal and our server Cameron was very nice. Saw a sign on the highway so I looked this up on Yelp. After seeing the good reviews, we decided to come here for lunch. The restaurant is a short drive from the highway. There is indoor and outdoor seating. Plus they have ducks that the kids can feed for 50 cents. Near the duck area there are settings to swing on. The menu has a good amount of variety for both fish lovers and fish haters. We started off with an order of hush puppies. They were very good with a little bit of heat. The kid and I liked them, hubs not so much. He prefers them to be sweet. For lunch I got a salad with blackened tuna on top. You could also get it with chicken or mahi. It was a good salad with a big piece of tuna. The tuna was great! The only thing I would do different is put it in a big bowl. The plate it was served on was too small which made it difficult to eat without losing some of the food off the plate. Hubs got the fish and chips which I tasted and it was very good. This a nice spot off 59 by El Campo. We didn't eat much just fried pickles coleslaw and the hurricane drink (so good). My daughter had the gumbo and she is a picky eater. She said it was good. Highly recommend!! Super cool atmosphere, you can dine inside or outside next to the little lake area. You can even pay 50 cents to feed the fish!! The service was great, really relaxed environment. My husband had the chicken fried steak with a salad and French fries. I had the combo meal with fried shrimp, fried alligator bites, hush puppies, and fried okra. Piete had their "proper" Fish and Chips, with sweet flakey Cod in a perfect crispy and light batter! Some places try to pass off catfish as Fish n Chips; if it isn't Cod it's not fish n chips. If you like Onion Rings be sure to get some here. By the way this is the cleanest country style restaurant I've ever been in. Be sure to stop by their candy store and indulge yourself!! Went and had dinner for 2 the gumbo tasted straight from the can my drink didn't taste like it any liquor in it and last time I check 1lb of snow crab came with more than one cluster. Our server was great but please add some seasoning to the crab bowl it was very bland to say the least read more

I've been going to Pinchers for years. The food is very good and service is normal. But, this last weekend my wife and I drove to El Campo for an early dinner. She had the catfish/shrimp combo and I had the catfish dinner. Also had iced tea each. When we got the ticket, I almost choked. The bill, with a normal tip, was over $65. I've been there many times and didn't look at menu and pricing. My bill is usually half that! I know everything has gone up but this really seemed to be over the top. I probably won't be back as there are establishments closer that are less expensive. I really don't see how a family can afford this no matter how good the food is. read more

Can't see how this place has any rating above 1 star. I had to wait over 45 minutes during lunch time for just a shrimp Po-Boy that came out with only 6 shrimp on it. I asked the "Manager " why I was paying over $15.00 for a shrimp sandwich that only came with 6 medium sized shrimp. Her response, "Prices have gone up!" El Campo has much better restaurants than Wharton. And Pincher's is definitely better than anything happening in Wharton. Their menu is pretty much fried, fried, and more fried seafood. So if you were coming here expecting a healthy fish meal, well, you're going to have to be tempted and not be picky. The food is quite good. I had the shrimp and catfish, with coleslaw, hushpuppies, sweet potato fries, and mushrooms. That was more than a belly full. Staff is very attentive. They keep it on the cool side in here, which can be great on a summer day. There's also a convenience store that's connected next door. They have a great selection of souvenir t-shirts available. For a finishing touch (especially for the kids) don't pass on feeding the ducks, Koi, and catfish outside. Yes, you have to pay for the pellets, but the show is worth it. You'll think you stepped in the middle of the movie "Pirhana". Three-and-a-half stars rounded up. Recommended. read more

Once we sat down, our waiter took 10+ minutes just to take our drink order, when we got our drinks, mine had a lipstick mark on it.
