The food was absolutely excellent--fresh, flavorful, well-prepared, and made with quality ingredients. You could tell a lot of care went into every plate, from the presentation to the taste. The portions were great, and everything we ordered came out hot and delicious. The service was just as impressive. Everyone was friendly, attentive, and welcoming, especially considering how busy a first opening day can be. The new location has such a great atmosphere, and we truly enjoyed the entire experience. Congratulations to the Water Well Café team on a wonderful opening--we will definitely be back!

What a pleasant surprise! We were in Victoria just for a one night stop on the way back to Austin…read more We wanted pizza but we're kinda spoiled to really good pies in Austin. Reviews here on Yelp led us to venture to this spot tucked away in a neighborhood. There was a run down funeral home across the street to add to the allure. The place was rocking! There was a great crowd and a lady playing guitar and singing on the outside patio. The employees were very welcoming and helped us with ordering at the counter. We enjoyed checking out the trippy decor while waiting for our pizza. Seemed to be almost all locals as everyone was chatting, laughing and generally enjoying a great time. Pizza came out and it was exactly like we like it. Very thin crispy crust and toppings all the way to the edges. We had the all meat pie and just couldn't finish it. We boxed it up and took it back to the hotel for the desk clerk. He had never been to Evans but said he will be going soon. Great experience!!!

The menu is relatively long, but, unlike the way I typically order at a restaurant, I always had the same thing--a turkey sandwich with fruit. There was something so satisfying about the simplicity. The turkey was fresh and tender, the lettuce crisp, and the side of fruit and its "dip," which was unusual in that it was a solid rather than liquid, was delicious. The first thing a diner sees upon walking in is a case full of small cupcakes, and we often had to choose one for dessert. One of the best things about the place, though, is that the restaurant is in an old house, with tables set up in several rooms, so we often were able to eat in a room we didn't have to share. It was my favorite places to have a ladies' lunch.

The turkey was moist and the sausage very delicious. The green beans are my favorite side. I also like the renovations done recently, since the last time I visited, they now sell tshirts, so I had to get one for my husband and myself. Also, don't sleep on their homemade desserts. But I believe in second chances, so I gave them another shot. Round two, I went with the Gourmet Burger... and that's when Grumpy's redeemed itself. That fried egg on top takes it from a regular burger to something you remember--juicy, flavorful, and stacked just right. The portion size was solid, and it felt like real value for the price. If you're a burger person in Victoria, I'd say skip the Philly and go straight for the burger. Grumpy's has it down pat. Rating: 4 / 5

I expected breaded chicken and it was grilled nuggets in sauce on a sandwich. I didn't like it... ate half and threw the rest away. Just expensive enough already to be overcharged and not have it offered to be corrected when it was discovered by the cook who gave me two orders of fries.
