Finally went to the The Cracked Crab and it was fantastic! Thursday was bogo appetizers. The pickles themselves were homade, not out of a jar, hand battered and fried to perfection. The second was fried shrimp and calamari and both were fresh not frozen deliciousness. I had the oyster poboy and it was the best I've had outside Nola! What a hidden gem! We were down in the area from the Midwest and wanted some seafood. Followed the reviews on here and y'all didn't fib! The food was amazing! Boudin balls, gulf bisque, grilled shrimp, fried shrimp, crab legs...some of the best seafood we've had. Loved the Cajun spin on it as well. The service was great and the owner was delightful to talk with. Restaurant was very clean with a rustic flair and fun atmosphere. Optional outdoor seating was plentiful and comfy. This was the best catfish I've had. The food was delicious. The dirty rice was very good. Stephanie was on her toes taking g orders, delivering meals and cashing out customers. Great server. We arrived on a Sunday night around 6am, the restaurant was half filled. We ordered two draft beers, a bowl of gumbo, fish and chips and blackened fish (total $58). When our beers arrived at the table they looked odd (these were blond beers, the color was super yellow and my husband glass had two different shades of yellow). We returned the beers, and asked for 2 bottles (this was swapped out with no problems). The. Somebody came to our table to tell us that they were out of Gumbo. Later somebody brought us a cup of gumbo (what). The food took about an hour to arrive and several people were also waiting for a long time and with incomplete orders. In the end it appeared chaotic, it took a long time for the food and it was expensive for the food received. The food tasted good and large portions. read more

I was curious about the aligátor bites so we went. I had those bites and some ranch chicken dish. The bites were fried. So fried that the inside was pretty tough. Came here in March and it was wonderful. Staff was great! Fast forward to today..... We got there at 4:15 to have a nice Mother's day dinner. Party of 5. 2 of the plates came out after about 40 minutes. And we waited and waited and waited for the boil to come out for 3 of us. It took an hour and a half! You would think a boil would be quick! It just took forever. And they got the order wrong! So FRUSTRATING! I lost my appetite! Then.....when I went to pay the bill, they had over charged me by $19. I had to argue with them about it. I kept asking how much the boil was and nobody knew! Not the cashier, not waitress, Not even the Manager! I almost lost it! I had to go get a menu and show them! After moving to Victoria one year ago, my wife and I ventured out for our first time post-Covid! We chose the Cracked Crab. If we were grading we would give it an A+...for Amazing and Awesome! This is a place tucked back by Coleta Creek Park with the down-home, country atmosphere you would expect. The menu is mainly seafood but covers tastes for all...kids, too! You order as you walk in and dine at any one of a good number of picnic tables in a spacious area. We ordered an appetizer, the Ceviche. My wife selected the Shrimp Lettuce Wrap and me, the Catfish Dinner. We also grabbed two ice-cold beers from a nice selection on the back wall. Everyone was friendly and in good spirits. We came early, opening time was 4:30 and that's just about the time we walked in...so, as expected our orders came rather quickly. Now the reason you are here...the food! The Ceviche came in a large clear cylinder placed in the middle of a plate full of hot fresh chips. The shrimp was plentiful, the veggies chopped and diced were fresh, and the bite from the jalapeno got our palate juices flowing. We were also treated to a small basket of hot out-of-the-oven muffins that were incredible once you allowed the soft whipped butter to melt. They were sweet tasting with a hint of jalapeno. The Shrimp Lettuce Wrap came on a do-it-yourself plate. The fare separate from the 3 large pieces of Romaine lettuce. My wife added a dab of my homemade tartar sauce that came with the catfish to each leaf before the shrimp mixture...she was in heaven! The Catfish Dinner was perfectly breaded and fried...2 huge filets! It came with 6 hush puppies that were obviously from a homemade recipe and a side of dirty rice the likes of which I've never tasted before (they should make this a stand-alone menu item). It put anything I've ever tasted in New Orleans to shame. We couldn't finish all that was served, boxed it up, and will enjoy a breakfast of eggs and ceviche in tortillas and a lunch from the leftovers of our entrees. The entire meal was reasonably priced. Needless to say, we WILL be back. Probably just to nosh on one of their many appetizers and suck on another cold beer.
