Food rated 3 stars but our server was so nice & so helpful I gave 4 total stars! There were four of us and we had the following : chips and loaded queso, cheese enchiladas and double rice, pork tamales, small bowl tortilla soup, and one combo beef fajita taco&chicken enchilada. We went through two bowls of homemade chips while we were waiting for our entrées . The queso was very good too. Our server advised she had seen them not to put the hot sauce and pico in the bowl of soup and it wasn't near as spicy so that is how I ordered mine. My grandson said the pork tamales were just OK, not as good as what they usually get closer to home. His friend ate maybe one enchilada in a little bit of rice, he said it was good. My soup looked really good but was super salty.-so much so that I only ate about a quarter of it. During this time our server came back-and-forth to check on us. Make sure everything was OK and refilled the boys drinks numerous times. The real problem comes when you consider the ambiance. The building was very old. The floors were very scuffed and did not look that clean the entire ceiling was those old-fashioned tiles and were stained with water and what might've been mold. The interior could've used a paint job. It was very bland looking. Overall, it didn't look the cleanest either. It's really rare that I have come across a place that was as dilapidated as this. Just be aware of this should you go. I'm hoping for their sake since they've expanded their hours to be open seven days a week that they're able to renovate the property. read more

THE PLACE TO GO!! Get the Ventura chips. You won't regret it! Their chips are good; the venturas are Great! The Quesadilla Rolls are worth going for! They are filling and delicious!! My husband says the the best Mexican food he has ever had! He got the combo plate and couldn't stop eating. The spicy tamale was excellent--rice was fluffy and delicious. Loved the tostada! Tea was fresh and service was impeccable. Even though the place is an older building, the bathroom was clean and so were the tables. Can't wait to get back!! read more

If you like Tex Mex food this is your place! I had the chicken quesadilla rolls with a side of rice and it was so delicious. My husband had the fajita tacos and he added beans and shredded cheese to his tacos he said it was 8/10 and he's a very picky eater. We had a sample of their pork tamales spicy & regular and we are taking some back home for our family to try. A plus for me is that our server edman was very helpful and friendly. Very disappointed in this place. It's supposed to be a tamale place and more but the tamales were skinny little things that were like a tamale out of a can. Didn't even taste good. Their flautas were ok but nothing great. Since moving here we have not found a decent Mexican restaurant. Lots of mediocre Tex-Mex restaurants here. So, 1st off it's important to remember I went there today for the sole purpose of buying raw tortillas to cook for my 'PiCO SpEciAL' brisket tacos. I didn't sit down either, & I only interacted with the lady that operates the cash register, who was kinda rude..not outright but dismissive. I asked for raw tortillas and she brought them in a ziploc bag with paper towels expired around the tortillas on the inside and when I got them home for starters they weren't raw, and secondly they are the exact same tortillas you buy at wal mart pre packaged. I even went to wal mart and compared, so when I called them and told her I was looking for raw tortillas, her response was "whattya want me to do about it?" I told her of like to bring them back for a refund and she hung up on me. I wasn't surprised at this point and didn't bother getting worked up about it, but they charged me $8.50 for a dozen tortillas so it stung a little. I was a big fan of the place before, but I won't be back. read more

Back again - first the shrimp night meaning 2 shrimp, they charge you if you want lettuce and tomato, most plates don't come with tortillas but if they do, it's usually 1. Now today - I ask for a side of rice and beans and I get a little salsa cup filled with rice and beans. The receipt reads 4oz. I guess they count the weight of the container too. I have no idea how much I was charged for this but o can guarantee it's like 4x more than it should be. Cmon. read more

Wow! Real good Mexican food like I remember when I was growing up. Now, I eat Mexican food regularly. The hot sauce has a heavy cumin flavor. Yes, I ordered more. The rice and beans were delish as were the cheese and the beef enchilada. I usually have to ask waiter/waitress for onions on top of my enchiladas but here, she asks me. Much appreciated. The taco was not placed directly on the plate with the enchilada but came separate, wrapped in foil. This keeps it from getting all soggy and falling apart. They're doing it right. The food is always great. Servers are prompt. We just came home and it was delicious. This isn't a huge deal but I'm an adult, I ordered two tacos and a side of rice. It come out on a Tiny plate. There was no where to put my two tacos or dress them with sauce. Please use a dinner plate tacos are messy. I would have had my taco stuff all over the table and me. I was politely given another. This is our second time to come here. First time we just ordered and took home and this time we ate inside with our kids. We LOVE it! This is definitely one of our favorite Mexican food places. Our waiter was super nice and helpful. He came by a lot to check on us. I love that I could request something for a kids plate that wasn't on the menu. Most places won't do that. The food was okay, so far my only two problems are the service and the quality of the food. For servicing two people, the total was $63 including a tip of $5. The food, especially the cheese enchilada was just not for me. The cheese tastes almost synthetic.. how do you manage to mess up with a cheese enchilada while also being able to make good queso? Delicious food. Never disappointed! Just discovered this gem about a year ago. Not sure how I missed it, being that Victoria is my hometown. Never they, I am so happy we were introduced to it. They used to sell tamales now they sell masa rolls and call them tamales. Cost outrageous compared to other restaurants. I remember supporting this establishment since they were on water street. Be careful about living on a past name. read more
